A Little Rain Oracle - Jellyfish Tree
The name of the jellyfish tree is a flower that truly is as unique as its name implies. Originally called Medusagyne — named after Medusa from Greek mythology – they’re characterised by multiple thin tentacles which cannot germinate in the wild.
They’re one of the few plant species that host flowers that are male and bisexual, and their flowers develop a deeper red colour with age, showing their tenacity like a badge of honour even as their population declines as a whole.
For a while, it was even thought to be extinct until, after a long disappearance, the jellyfish tree reappeared in its native land, Seychelles. The jellyfish tree is an excellent example of surviving against all odds.

And now a #sandverbena from the other side of San Diego County: #AbroniaMaritima, #RedSandVerbena. It grows on coastal sand dunes and the leaves are much thicker than the Abronia villosa out in the desert. As you can see there was a lot of it in this area but it’s considered rare because of its limited range. Apparently in cultivation it can’t handle being watered with fresh water because it’s that salt-adapted. #halophyte #californianativeplants #rareplants #abronia #TijuanaRiverEstuary #tijuanasloughnationalwildliferefuge #tijuanaslough (at Tijuana Estuary National Wildlife Refuge) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cna-VWhNagR/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

🌱 Musa Aeae: The Enchanting Rare Banana Plant 🌱
If you've never heard of Musa Aeae, you're not alone! This rare variety of banana, also known as the Sacred or Ghost Banana, is one of nature's more elusive beauties. Unlike the typical banana plants you might picture, Musa Aeae captivates with its stunning variegated leaves, featuring stripes of lush green and creamy white. It’s a showstopper in any tropical or plant lover's garden!
Native to Southeast Asia and parts of the Pacific, this plant holds deep cultural significance in Polynesian traditions. Historically, its beauty and unique foliage have made it a symbol of purity and spiritual power, often associated with traditional rituals and sacred spaces.
Here are some fun facts about Musa Aeae:
🍃 Growth: Reaching heights up to 10-15 feet, it grows best in warm, humid environments.
🌞 Light: It loves bright but indirect sunlight, making it challenging to grow indoors without proper conditions.
💧 Care: While not the easiest plant to care for, it rewards patience with breathtaking foliage that brings any green space to life!
🌍 Rarity: Due to its difficulty in propagation and specific growing requirements, it’s a coveted plant for collectors and botany enthusiasts.
This gorgeous banana plant is a reminder of the vast biodiversity on our planet and the beauty that exists in every corner of the world. Have you ever spotted one of these in person? Drop a comment or reblog if you're a rare plant lover too! 🌿💚
