I love how you explaining the dynamic between Raikane and Raimari. May I request the same for Erik x Akane and Erik x Sumire as well? I want to see your opinion about them~

Thanks for the ask! Of course. Here are all of my emotions lol. Also, if anyone has an idea what to name these ships, please let a girl know. 

Erik x Akane

So...Akane is normally pretty perceptive, and she can read people fairly well, but she is sooooo oblivious when it comes to Erik’s feelings for her. She knows that he spoils her, but she thinks it’s because he sees her as a younger sister and he’s treated her that way since they were kids (and it’s never once dawned on her that it’s because he’s liked her since they were kids). In fact, there’s a point in high school where she worries she’s developing unrequited feelings for him and all of her friends are so over it.  

Erik receives 100% of Akane’s bratty side and he is perfectly fine with it. Like...she’s usually very self-sufficient, but with him she wants all of the attention and the cuddles and the food. He lets her wake him up at all hours, and rubs her shoulders, and carries her up to bed when she falls asleep doing paperwork. He makes her feel like a damn princess, and it sort of echoes the ryoali dynamic on a less extreme level. 

Although neither one of them is particularly argumentative, these two can go at it like an old married couple (specifically like Akira and Hisako). They’ve always bickered and bantered from time to time, even as children, but when they’re in high school the sexual tension reaches an all time high and they’re arguing for hours over virtually nothing. It’s so bad, anyone within a mile radius of them can tell exactly what the situation is. 

Akane is pretty territorial when it comes to Erik. Since they were kids, she would get super annoyed when other girls flocked around him and she never understood why it bothered her so much. She waits up for him when he’s out late and goes to his room if she hasn’t seen him all day because she’s always had the sense that he’s hers in a way (while a free spirit like Raiden could never belong to anyone). These strange feelings always bring out the tsundere in her, and she can find herself getting frustrated and snappish with him for what seems like no reason at all. 

Erik is super considerate of Akane’s feelings and her mental health. He holds off on pursuing her romantically because he knows she’s under a lot of pressure and doesn’t want to cause her more stress. He always takes care of her when she’s upset or anxious, and he’s the person she wants around her when she’s feeling vulnerable. 

Akane shows Erik a lot of tough love (and he needs it because the boy is outright adored by most of the women in his life), but she can tell when he needs some tenderness from her and she lays it on. 

Erik x Sumire

Sumire was always into romance novels and dramas, and her expectations of love were quite low because she knows that no real guy would ever measure up to the men in her stories. And then she meets this boy...and he checks every box she’s ever had. Like there are the conventional things—he’s tall and athletic and rich—but then there are the things that appeal to her personally, he’s techy and sarcastic and totally down to help her hack into secret databases. 

Erik is intrigued by Sumire from the start because she’s oddly composed. She exudes this energy like she’s seen it all before, and she can read him instantly. He literally cannot get anything past her, and it’s refreshing because for all of his life he’s been able to carefully manage how people see him. He sometimes goes out of his way to try and get a response out of her, but beyond the odd blush and wry comment she doesn’t react much.  

For a long while, before they’re even particularly close, they do a series of random acts of kindness for each other. He buys her designer shoes when her sandal pops outside, and she has a warm towel and a hot pot for him when he returns from a run on a rainy day; he comforts and avenges her after she loses to Sosuke in the Autumn Elections, and she follows him to Denmark when he’s investigating New Central Industries. The love between them is built on a thousand small favors given and returned. 

Sumire genuinely loves his family. The Denmark Nakiris can be a lot even on a good day, and it means a lot to him that she’s willing to braid his sister’s hair and put up with his mom’s intrusive (and sometimes very untactful) questions and his dad’s weird personality flips without wanting to head for the hills. Even Leonora, who has very high standards, thinks highly of her and asks Erik how “that classy girl” is doing every time he comes home. 

 There is so much angst with them too. Like Sumire can tell right away when he starts to see her as a woman and not just a friend (incidentally, this is precisely after he sets her up with Saito Kaito) and she’s in agony because she wants him bad but feels that he is off limits because of her loyalty to Akane. 

Erik spoils all the women in his life (relatives, friends, etc.), but only Sumire gets to spoil him and she loves watching his reactions whenever she does something special for him.

Akane’s sense of smell has always been really acute, so she tends to prefer subtle smells to strong ones. She loves the scent of charcoal pencils and dewy grass and the air just before it rains. She’s also really fond of the green, herbaceous smell she’s always associated with her mother, and the bright, spicy scents that remind her of her dad. 

what pajamas they wear/what they wear to sleep in

She probably owns all the satin pajama sets in the Victoria Secret Pink and Nordstrom collections.

In the context of this post, Raikane. A headcanon is that Akane gave Raiden his first kiss when they were twelve, right before he left on his trip around the world.

Akane and Isabella! A headcanon is that when they were younger, Bella was the queen bee at their elite all girls school and Akane was her right hand, and then as soon as they got to Totsuki they seamlessly switched roles without even talking about it. A lot of people at the academy assume that their friendship is hierarchical, but it really isn’t at all.

I think she’d be a leopard.

Akane sleeps on her side mostly, and if she’s sleeping next to someone she likes to cuddle.

Raiden loves the smell of espresso made in the traditional way, baking bread, and old leather.

Sweatpants and a t-shirt, usually.

Raikane in this context, and by the time they’re in their twenties, Raiden would  have sent Akane over five hundred letters while he was traveling. Akane would keep all of them in a special box, as well as the hundreds more that would accumulate over the years if they end up together, and the collection of them would probably get passed down to their grandchildren as a family keepsake.

Raiden and Sosuke! Sosuke brings Raiden to his hometown with him a few times, and once they helped organize a music and food festival.
