After all the bluster, there it is: the conscience and the apology. It's almost like clockwork. Give it enough time; there comes repentance. In the dimness of the hallway and his face cast in shadow, Oliver grins to himself, slipping his hands into the pockets of his jeans. "'S'all right," he murmurs. A step is taken into the room, testing the waters. When she doesn't rebuke his encroaching presence, Oliver comes to stand nearer to Hara. The sitting room is dark, but small slivers of moonlight give him enough illumination to see it: the silvery tracks of a tears over her cheeks. Oliver takes silent note to tread carefully. "I didn't take it personally," he assures. "Figured somethin' else was going on."

His head gives a sympathetic tilt before he lowers to his haunches, making himself smaller. He lowers his voice, too, trying to coax out what's troubling her so much. "You know...you can talk to me, Hara. You don't have to t'suffer with whatever it is alone."

Us. Two letters, two people. His heart speeds, seeming to thump against each of his ribs and the panic reverberates there. They're still sitting in the common room. Colored lights are flashing from various spinning disco balls and fixtures. There's crushed cups and confetti littering all the flat surfaces around them. But the party has died out, and the rest of their peers have retreated to their dormitories. It feels like a loaded question, a spring loaded trap to snare Oliver in something he doesn't know how to get out of. Felix Catton--he is an anomaly in Oliver's life. Even with his own family, he doesn't feel this level of attachment...or happiness. Felix is like some living amplifier, turning up Oliver's emotions to alarming levels he doesn't know how to control. But the highs are so dizzying, so good that he doesn't know how to separate himself from Felix. And now, he's even more aware how close they are: legs and knees pressed together. They're still side by side on one of the sofas--even though either of them could move elsewhere for more room.

Oliver has to carefully school his expression, hold it to keep it neutral. His skins feels unnaturally hot, and he finds himself tugging at the sleeves of his pullover, dragging them up to his elbows. "What d'you mean?" His head turns towards Felix, and there's a faltering smile. Better to play dumb. "Us sittin' at the end of some party?"
