she was born in goseong-gun, gangwon-do, south korea

she joined jyp entertainment in 2012, training alongside twice members and former sixteen contestants, natty and somi.

as a jyp trainee she competed on sixteen, ranking 12th.

after her appearance on sixteen she was scouted by sm, yg and bighit.

she left jyp after not being selected to be part of the debut lineup for twice, joining sm entertainment only a few months later.

she was originally supposed to join red velvet alongside yeri in 2015 but plans fell through.

she had to take a leave of absence from training due to health concerns, not returning to sm until late 2016.

she left sm entertainment and began training independently in mid 2017.

shortly after leaving sm she was also a contestant on mixnine where she ranked 11th and was eliminated in the final episode.

she joined kq entertainment in early 2018 as the company's first and only female trainee.

she originally was supposed to debut under kq as a soloist but fans enjoyed miyeon's interactions with the other trainees so much they decided to form a coed group instead.

she was the last member to join kq entertainment.

she was the ninth and last member to be announced.

kq entertainment announced on december 15, 2018 that miyeon would be going on hiatus due to undisclosed health reasons.

miyeon returned from hiatus on march 15, 2019 for the first concert of their 'the expedition tour'.

she debuted with her solo "exes" on november 30, 2022.

she is the first and currently only member of the group to have a solo debut.

she is a part of the project girl group roze, created through the survival show queendom puzzle.
