According to reliable sources, in the early 1990s, the Agriculture sector of UAE contributed less than 4 percent of its GDP. However, agricultural activity has been the most popular among Emirati people. Apart from these types of farming, there has been an increase in production of fishing and poultry with local dairies, which meet 92% of its population demand.

The UAE has made so many efforts to increase the cultivable area but unfortunately, it resulted in an increase in water and soil salinity.
