Sure the medics had done their clinical tests and physical tests and he failed. But Eve and M knew the man. They knew he surprised people. But Eve and M knew the man.

They needed an unbiased opinion.

The quartermaster coukd look at both the numbers and the man. He was a better read of a man than he knew. So M gave him the choice.

Decide if he was worth saving. Decide if he was going to get the radio.

Casino Royale Boat headcanon

Bond bought that sailboat.

High on winning all that money, even knowing much of it was on loan from the Treasurey, he splurged. And what better purchase to celebrate breaking free of the mold of your life.

Crisp white with no blemishes. Wind filling the sails to push them on the seas of opportunity. The promise of a bright and exciting future.

Like the Aston, it gathers dust in a storage container in outer London.

Scav hunt #59

Q’s sister got him this as a gift. She’s not great at code, but enough of it rubbed off on her that she saw it online and knew it would be a perfect gift for her little brother. Plus, it was larger than a normal mug (which he needed cause he drank so much) and it had a warming coil at the bottom if you plugged it into a usb outlet (which he also needed cause sometimes he lost track of time and forgot about said tea).

Q proudly brought it to work the next day and challenged the staff to make a more efficient warning coil that would work like a mini induction cooktop. It also needed to have a temperature control cause he hated burning his tongue.

Quartermaster!Eve and Secretary!Q

Prompt table: reverse a common trope. Its not Bond and Q who swap jobs, its Eve and Q

Eve was the first woman Quartermaster. Sure, some agents jokingly called her Quartermistress, but she was ruthless in letting them know that wouldn’t fly.

She managed her branch with unbelievable precision. She knew things there was no way she should know. None of her minions could figure out how she knew what they had for dinner and who they shared it with, but they trusted her. They trusted she’d only use her wealth of blackmail material if it was really needed.

Besides, they had seen her take gossip and turn it into leverage for an agent half a world away. Umder her leadership, microphones were devoped which filtered the speaker’s voice into one channel, and all the background noise to another. Q branch was not both the eyes and ears of an agent.

Q loved being a secretary. It was all paperwork. Paperwork and gossip.

As the only male in the secretary pool, he was mostly treated like one of the women. He talked Bake Off with them in the morning and Killing Eve as they waited for the bus home at the end of the day. He also heard all the latest on who was dating who.

He was also gifted with incredibly quick fingers so all the digital firms took next to to time for him to fill out. Leaving him to sit at his desk and read. And look pretty. That was his main job.

No really. M expected him to distract and disarm visitors before allowing them intk his office. Together they were a two person screening team. As Q chatted he would get a measure of the person and what they wanted. If he didn’t think they deserved to see M, he would buzz in with “Sir, there’s someone to see you.” But if they seemed fine, he would say “M, you have a visitor.”

Naturally M himself also would eavesdrop and he could also switch his light to busy if he really really didn’t want to see the person. Perhaps it was strange that his boss could eavesdrop at any time, but what did he really have to hide? Everyone in the world knew about his one sided crush on James Bond.

Courtney had warned them. She’d said she didn’t know what kind of animal that egg belonged to. She’d said it couldn’t be dangerous. But M had ordered them to construct a rough incubator and wait for it to hatch. 

Q set up a live feed to keep an eye on the large teardrop shaped egg. He had an inkling that this would be something more than they expected and he wanted record of it. 

His feed suddenly frizzed out at 4:07 on Sunday morning. At first he didn’t notice, he was trying to read a white paper on a new application for nanotech, but when he did he ran down to the lab immediately.

The sight that greeted him made him stop short in the doorway. First, there was a stranger in the lab. No, wait. Not a stranger. His Uncle Merlin. Second, on the table the egg lay in shards. Third, the creature which had hatched was purple and had wings. 

“Merlin?” Q asked in his best quartermaster voice. “What’s going on?”

The man turned and Q was shocked to see he had been crying. Though the huge smile splitting his face made it clear the cause was not sorrow. Merlin dashed away some of his tears. “Hey Q. Where’d you find the dragon?”

Felix on the Fourth

It isn’t until their fifth year of dating (as much as two spies are able to date) that they are in America for July 4th. 

Bond didn’t think much of it when Felix said they were heading to his grandparent’s house in Ft Lauderdale for the weekend

The whole family would be there, James assumed it was just an annual family get to gether

Which it sorta was, but only because they had the best fireworks. 

The balcony of the large house had stripped bunting and more flags than usual were stuck in the ground, lining the drive up to the back of the house

And in the front there were more boats on the lake than usual. That was James’s first clue that he was missing something.

Auntie Carol spoiled Felix’s fun when she hugged James tight and wished him a happy Fourth. 

“You’ve brought me to a celebration of your rebel country over mine?” “Where would either of us be without a bit of rebellion? Besides, I want you to see what a real fireworks show should look like.

Later, James admitted it was a much more impressive show than the Lord Mayor’s Day display he’d taken Felix to, but not as great as the New Year’s Eve fireworks along Southbank.

The next year, they put on their own show and added to the dozens of displays all around the lake, booming in the night and sparkling on the water.
