ok ok i finally started watching tng (just the first episode so far) and while i dont think itll replace tos for me i am going a little insane
i love data. they told me i would and they were right.
i didnt realise q was introduced so early and i have No Idea what his goddamn deal is. hes so weird
ive seen people make comparisons of him and trelane (squire of gothos) but i didnt expect it to be this much. why do they love to rig trials so much whats their deal
i forget the kid's name im so sorry. but i love his sweaters they look so cozy i wish i had those sweaters
everyone stares at each other so much in ways where its always like ".... are they flirting right now" im not saying they didnt do this in tos because that would make me a filthy liar. however i am saying its a lot more evenly spread between different characters
like i heard riker was a slut but i didnt think he was the "give your captain a charged up-and-down glance within moments of meeting him" kind of slut yknow? the "stare at the android who just helped you up with wide eyes like youre thinking about other ways to make use of that strength" kind of slut
i guess i know better now. he is that kind of slut
related - this whole thing is like a romcom except literally everybody is a romantic lead. big complicated polycule that requires a flowchart to portray, my beloved
dr mccoy!! i saw him i noticed him. hes making jabs about his husband (spock) even when theres nobody there who appreciates his jokes (data's there but he just looks kinda bewildered lol) its ok bones i appreciate your jokes i love you
theres probably more ive already forgotten but like. i am enjoying this. who coulda known that id enjoy more of the thing i like. wild

rushed tng update bc i am in a HUGE HURRY. monday we watched "q who" and yesterday i caught "samaritan snare" and "up the long ladder."
q who: had been looking forward to this one for WEEKS. and we were SO SO SO CLOSE. i loved every single thing about the borg. i loved their look. i loved the buildup. i loved their creepy little borg babies. i love their creepy cube ship because getting menaced by cubes is the natural state of the enterprise.
BUT NO ONE. GOT. BORGED
they had the perfect opportunity, too...that ensign, gomez? she could have been beamed out of the ship instead of those 18 people dying and they could have seen her when they beamed onto the borg ship. it would have been a wonderful way to impress how different people are once they get borged. that said i did love gomez and i was glad to see her pop back up in another episode. ms motormouth she's so funny she literally just has adhd thank you star trek for the Woman
like, the climax of that was so...anticlimactic. q just warps them back? that's so boring. i was getting ready to give q another chance despite him being SO FUCKING ANNOYING in all his other appearances because he was kind of funny here. like, i see why you guys kept telling me he had something going on with picard. i find it completely horrible just to be clear but i cannot deny that it is going on
AND i loved whatever he had going on with guinan...she was literally ready to get his ass. i loooved her expanded role in this episode and getting to find out more about her
but to have the episode end by q just being like ok i win i;ll take you back now :) come on. we were doing SO well. i was THRILLED. what a case of blueballs. and i checked and apparently only SIX tng episodes deal with the borg? that is so much less than i thought. huge letdown. oh well.
samaritan snare: i really dont understand what they are trying to do with pulaski and picard...is this supposed to be a romantic thing...idgi and i do not like it. like, what's the point of having him almost not survive this operation and then needing HER HELP SPECIFICALLY when he already stated he was uncomfortable with her doing it? the entire thing just rubs me the wrong way.
largely this episode was annoying and i nearly had to stop and close the tab when wesley tried to daddy issues his way into getting picard to parent him
however 2 good things did happen. firstly was the story picard told about getting his ass stabbed when he was an ensign. "a certain giddy warmth actually i laughed out loud" that was something actually.
and the other good thing as when worf was like "you will die without honor. you will never attain the 24th level of awareness" to geordi like i fucking cracked up for real. i wish tng had less unfunny bad humor and more of that because it was hilarious
up the long ladder: this episode was so bad it's UNREAL.
first of all, did worf and pulaski fuck? did that actually happen? they keep trying to make her romantic will picard and then will's dad and now WORF? what is GOING ON on this fucking ship??
i was actually kind of into whatever she and worf had going on when it was just a "let's be reckless idiots and drink the tea" thing because it was just that fucking stupid that it worked its way around to being endearing but every time i make emotional progress with her i am set back. i'm sorry women.
the rest of this episode was also unspeakable bad way to do clones in the most boring way possible and LMAO at them all hating sex or whatever. because it's a way to make them appear more unnatural <3 ok.
even riker slutting it up with that one irish chick couldn't save it because. and i feel insane saying this. every time those guys were onscreen they played like the funny music. you know. when irish characters get the little jig music and it's funny because they're irish? 90s tv did this a lot. shore leave in tos did it too. i'm so exhausted
ALSO LMAOOO TURNING THIS POOR WOMAN INTO BREEDING STOCK...not even asking her...misogyny wins again. i'm sure we can find another woman somewhere dot meme. good fucking god
i don't remember what episodes come next and i don't care because i'm going in release order and guess what was released next. final frontier. spock movie. it's finally time to see him again.....................

(this is Indeedcaptain!) 9, 14, 35 for the ask game :)
9) What division do you think you'd most likely be in if you were a Starfleet officer?
Engineering. Hands down. A thousand times. Holy SHIT let me at that engine. At one point in my life I thought I'd like command, but I'd rather be able to bitch and slap at things and have the pressure of making everything work without having to be like who dies.
14) Favorite characters?
WHY WOULD YOU ASK THIS QUESTION.
Alternatively, do you have all. day.
Okay, we'll break it into series. I'm picking one from each. But know I really love like everyone.
TOS/TAS/AOS - The three of them (Kirk/Spock/Bones) go together and can't be separated, however. I'm gonna say Bones. I'm in love with that man.
TNG - Shit this is so hard. Ro Laren? She wasn't really there for very long. Miles? No, well only kind of kidding. Q? This is an insight to my feelings on TNG. We'll go with ... Worf.
DS9 - HOW. CAN. I. PICK. OUT. OF. MY. FAMILY. Dax. Of the Jadzia variety. Poor Ezri, but I don't like you. Fuck you Rick Berman.
VOY - So my first ever crush in life was Gambit from the cartoons in the nineties. My second ever crush was Tom Fucking Paris. (Another of the wait do I think he's hot or do I want to be him). So he was my fave for a loooooong time. Now it's probably the Doctor.
ENT - Phlox. I think. I really just genuinely love him as a character flawed and funny and different.
DISCO - Saru. Wow that was insanely easy. But I really really like so much about him.
SNW - SPOCK. I am -not- okay. (Although once Bones pops up I think all will be lost).
PIC - SHAW. Because I straight up want to climb that man. Worst reason to love a character. and He's fucking awful. But hot. Damn.
LD - MARINER. I'm perfectly normal about her.
I haven't actually watched Prodigy.
I think that's everyone.
I'm kinda surprised there aren't more women on the list, but I'm gonna go with less internalized misogyny and more I id more strongly with masc.
35) How would you feel about a mind meld?
Hook me up. I am that crazy person that's like OH IVE NEVER DONE/TASTED/FELT THIS and then I dive in head first even if i have no idea what I'm doing. So would I be totally nervous and freaked out and pushing all the worst thoughts forward not at all on purpose but just because I was trying to shove them down and doing the opposite? Yes. But I'd also not want to pass up the opportunity.

Mae’s relationship with The boyz
The boyz 12th member
Mae’s masterlist
a/n: happy new year everyone!! Feel free to share your thoughts with me. Requests are open! 🧡
Sangyeon
Tumblr media
They are a comforting presence for each other. Mae would trust her entire life to Sangyeon as he is someone she’s sure will never outright judge her or demand something she is not comfortable with. On the other hand, I can see him not worrying too much about her but being careful when her mood seems off, and asking what it was afterward so he’s sure she’s fine again.
The girl usually laughs at his impersonations or weird jokes, which instantly put her into his goody list, and Sangyeon is very thankful for having someone that will hear his random rants without getting caught up in it. More often than not, you can see him standing on the sidelines, cheering for her when he’s aware she’s doing something she’s not very confident in.
Jacob
Tumblr media
Becoming trainees at the same time might have been the best thing for them, seeing as they often struggled with the same stuff, and pushed the other through their rough times. Mae sometimes wonders where she would be if it weren’t for Jacob and his insane amount of patience. Also, their personality is very comparable and they’re both soft-spoken most of the time, deobis aren’t even surprised whenever they find out something else they have in common.
They made a habit of going to karaoke rooms before debuting as a way to both practice singing and his Korean but to also rest and have fun. After Kevin joined the company he went along as well and after they became rookies all of the members would occasionally join in on the trio.
Younghoon
Tumblr media
Soft, just soft. Both together and for each other. When she’s around Younghoon, Mae actually becomes more clingy and he’s the only one she goes out of her way to show skinship with (back hugs are her favorite). He also gets easily entertained by her antics and likes to joke that he’s her bodyguard.
Vlive moments that usually lead to him making an unintentional innuendo and she gets embarrassed and leaves the room so she doesn’t have to explain what just happened. On that note, Mae doesn’t like helping with English that much because it usually leads the members to getting entertained by her accent, but she makes an exception to Younghoon
Hyunjae
Tumblr media
His number one hobby is to make her embarrassed, and considering they, as well as Haknyeon, have been roommates for the longest time Hyunjae has a lot of material to share. He clings to her at every opportunity and is constantly nagging about the amount of clothes Mae has as well as the closet space they take.
Surprisingly or not, he often helps her with choreography and is overall a good listener. She’s also not that bothered by his antics and has grown comfortable enough to tell him to knock it off once she gets over them. Fans didn’t know they were as close until she answered “Hyunjae” when asked which of them she’d want as an actual brother.
Juyeon
Tumblr media
The “looks tough but is actually soft” duo. Over the years, he became her number one dance instructor seeing as he’s mostly calm and doesn’t really mind pulling extra hours to help her. We know how Juyeon usually babies Eric, and many fans think he’s like that to Mae as well, but on the contrary, he also prefers to be wary instead of butt in on her business.
Having that said, when the girl shows even 1% discomfort or annoyance in general he’s the first one to step in and help her out. Mae usually feels weird that he acts like that but it usually comes in handy when the group is having a discussion and she needs someone to back her up and be on her side.
Kevin
Tumblr media
Kevin has taken pride in being the main reason for her meme awakening. Before he arrived, Mae and Jacob were as close as friends could get, but as Kevin and the boy hit it off, Mae expected to be thrown into the sidelines. She couldn’t be more wrong, considering that he also made a lot of effort into keeping her close, thus beginning the “Kevin getting frustrated at Mae not getting his references” saga.
Lowkey, they just want to chill and listen to questionable music together. Highkey, he wants to get her to twerk with him (he’ll kiss the ground the day she does). Again, Mae is a good listener and often joins in on his random thoughts or simply goes along with whatever he’s doing.
New
Tumblr media
Random high note battles and both of them silently judging the others. Chanhee and Mae often fall into a cycle of complaining around but instead of tackling the matter with him she often does nothing, which makes him complain ten times harder. Objectively speaking, he’s the member who helps her the most with organizing her stuff and adulting in general.
The girl randomly drags him with her to the mall to people-watch or makes him do vlives with her just for the sake of it. For some reason, it took them a little while to find common ground but once they did, New became one of her go tos when it came to sharing struggles. On a random note, Mae thought his math tricks were an absolute scam and believed none of it until they were actually tested.
Tumblr media
Playfully bickering 24/7. They have many fake arguments, usually around her struggles with some choreographies and his lack of patience when it comes to teaching her. Two months after their debut he decided to let that job fall onto Juyeon and his life became a lot more fun. Around the release of Right Here he went back to randomly giving her tips but please don't leave them alone in a practice room.
When it comes to interests Changmin didn’t think they’d have many in common but after many movie nights, he was quick to find out Mae doesn’t really mind horror and thriller which made her perfect to watch them with him. She does, however, have a problem with the creepy-ass dolls and masks he buys and has sworn someday she will make a bonfire out of them.
Haknyeon
Tumblr media
99 babies and eternal roommates. They’re an interesting pair considering Juhaknyeon is more laid back and outgoing and Mae is - according to him -  more high maintenance. They did find common ground around the fact that they’re both foodies and 99s vlive mukbangs are a very constant thing.
Also, kind of random but he’s one of the members she would stand by without a second thought. Hak just tries his best to make any situation lively and the girl appreciates it a lot, especially when she’s having a tough time herself, so as gratitude she’s ready to fight anyone for him.
Sunwoo
Tumblr media
The other person she would stand by without a problem. It doesn’t really help that Sunwoo acts like an absolute child whenever Mae is near and constantly clings to her like she’ll solve every trouble in the world (flash news, she won’t). The girl finds it kind of comical how he’s always giving her puppy eyes and just pushes his head out of the way for him to snap out of it.
Back to Younghoon when I said someone gets entertained by her accent, that is Sunwoo. He’s constantly repeating the way she says some words or asking her to help him say something, which he knows she doesn’t quite like but does it anyway. Also, not her go-to pastime, but random rap battles are always fun when they happen and they usually end up with one of them on the ground laughing.
Eric
Tumblr media
Aka the non-Canadian half of the English line. Also mildly entertained by her Aussie accent but doesn’t show it as often as Sunwoo. When they first met, Eric instantly decided they were going to be friends but once she figured it out it was too late and she couldn’t back down anymore (that’s what she says at least, deep down we know she enjoyed his company just as much).
Mae is the introverted friend to his outgoing self, she usually has to tell Eric to calm down because she grew tired of following him around or got very embarrassed by him randomly approaching a senior. Also worth mentioning he’s her number one hype person and has multiple times made her embarrassed by complimenting her in front of deobis or just random people.
Former member: Hwall/Hyunjun
Tumblr media
Fashion buddies. Mae has a habit of randomly dragging him to go shopping and they’ve got to the point of adding items into each other’s carts when they think the other might like it. They have a fun time just walking around and chatting as well, before debuting they’d often share what’s bothering them before getting ice cream to cheer up.
Due to different scheduling, it became harder to keep meeting up but Mae often does her best to sneak around into whatever he’s doing. Also, late-night phonecalls became more regular which led the members into believing she had a boyfriend before finding out it was just Mae catching up with him.

imagine walking around an empty arena with shawn. it’s before sound check and you’re just trying to spend as much time with him. you’re holding hands and he’s swinging his arms. you guys think that you’re alone, but connor is secretly following you and filming it for the tour diaries. he captures all the kiss and all the giggles. you guys find some random place to sit and your legs are in his lap and you just spill to him how proud you are of him 🥺. i want that
AHHHHHH WHO ARE YOU BC I THINK YOU’RE LIVING IN MY SUBCONSCIOUS YOU ARE LITERALLY HITTING ON EVERYTHINGGGG I LOVE SKLJFLKSDF
OKay so you’ve seen Shawn perform and have been on tour with him but like you’re still in awe of his stage presence and how he just captivates every single person in the crowd and you still can’t imagine how it must feel like to have people sing your songs back to you at the top of their lungs when just seven years ago he was playing guitar in his bedroom
You’re just walking around backstage, Shawn obnoxiously swinging your hands that are connected as you laughed at him telling you how he fell when he was running from the b-stage back to the main stage. Connor heard your laugh from a far and went to check it out, but he stopped himself from saying something that would cause the bubble to pop around the two of you. So he quickly ran back into the green room, grabbed his camera, and ran as quickly as he could (being quiet of course) to where he had last seen the two of you
You two hadn’t walked super far, so Connor was able to get a good amount of recordings of you tipping your head back in laughter, a zoom in on your swinging hands, and Shawn looking at you love in his eyes. He stayed far enough behind where he could clearly capture your movements, but he couldn’t hear what you were saying
Shawn led you up the stairs that led you up to the stage, and you slowly walked across it as you mouth was hung open in awe. You were nervous just walking up on the stage with the lights on and no one in the audience.  You didn’t know how Shawn did it. He brought you to the edge of the stage, sat down, and held a hand out for you to join him. You sat down next to him, placing your legs in his lap as you leaned your head on his shoulder.
Connor was over the moon with the footage he was getting, it was like he struck gold. He caught you going in to press a kiss to Shawn’s cheek, but at the last second, Shawn quickly turned his head to capture your lips in a kiss. You lightly pushed him by the shoulder as you laughed at him. Connor slowly creeped up to get closer, maybe hoping to get some audio, and he almost felt like he should turn his camera off when he heard your voice.
Shawn was playing with the lanyard on your neck as you stared out into the empty arena, “It’s insane, really insane how all of these people come to see you and are so happy to celebrate your accomplishments. Most of them haven’t met you, but they feel that connection through your songs and it’s almost like an unbreakable bond––You have an unbreakable bond with your fans and I’m so proud of you.”
Connor shut his camera off after he caught the last of your words as he tip toed backward to not disturb you two. He knew he could probably catch more tender moments between the two of you, but he knew how protective Shawn was over you and how he valued his time with you. So Connor decided it was best for him to disappear into the shadows of backstage and only come out to get Shawn, pretending like he hadn’t seen or heard anything, when he had to go do the fan Q&A

you have made it through TOS and TNG (i can't remember if you took on TAS but either way congratulations on these accomplishments); what would you say is the best episode of each series
i tried to do TAS before TNG but it got taken off the streaming service i was watching it on in the middle of season 1! okay omg the best in all of it!?? just immediately what comes to mind is the de-evolution episode in tng and is there no truth in beaty? of tos.
thinking abt it a little more and looking at the episodes i would say i really liked most are the q episodes. just because i watched them more recently i can also say the one where riker thinks hes going insane and where worf is switching from universe to universe, really any episode like those, and RASCALS!! the episode where barclay turns into hal from 2001 space odyssey.... maddie you cant make me choose like this!
and for tos who can resist miss horta in devil in the dark? i also like metamorphosis, and galileo 7 for sentimental reasons

OC Character Sheet: Eleanor
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
thank you @chiefofpigs for the inspiration and permission to use your template for this :3
All made on picrew
NAME: Eleanor Lancaster
AGE: 24
HEIGHT: 5’6
HAIR: Long slightly wavy hair that reaches just above her hips when fully down. Chestnut brown hair
EYES: Lavender. Usually wears contacts when she wants to be discreet because she knows they attract attention.
OTHER PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: Slim yet muscular build. She has a small mole on the top of the shell of her left ear and is embarrassed that it’s her only beauty mark, so she usually tries to cover it with her hair. Has a habit of sticking her tongue out between her teeth and biting it softly when she’s deep in thought.
BASIC PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION: Observant, prefers to stay out of the way where she can but if you cross paths with her or someone she cares about, then you’re gonna get the most severe tongue lashing of your life (she does not mince words). Calm, patient and level-headed, yet explosive when she’s angry. Not one for laughing so when she does, it’s a treat (she squeaks at the end of her laughs). Incredibly mature for her age, but has a foul mouth and one killer death stare.
BASIC BACKGROUND DESCRIPTION: Grew up in Black Territory as an heir to her family business from birth. The Lancasters made a name for themselves as master cons and swindlers in Cradle, stealing money and then gambling it (very clearly rigged gambling) to increase the profit. Through some...family complications (it’s a secret...for now ;3), Eleanor ratted out her family to the Black Army and escaped to Central to live under the radar, doing odd jobs to make a living. And on one of those jobs, she meets...
PAIRED WITH: Edgar Bright
Q&A
Q: What does your OC normally wear?
A: Almost never without her gold hoop earrings or some variation of gloves (fitted combat gloves when she’s training or white/black lace gloves for formal occasions). A fan of high-necked well-fitted ¾ lengths or long-sleeved shirts, especially for training. Her hair is usually tied back in a simple ponytail or a side-braid; rarely wears her hair down unless she has to. Prefers blouses and skirts to dresses, but feels most comfortable wearing pants.
Q: What would your OC wear on a special night?
A: This girl knows her fashion. Halter neck or sleeveless dresses are her go-tos, usually scooped low at the back. Gloves (as mentioned above) and short heels so she can still run if need be. She knows she has a nice body and uses it to her advantage, even if she secretly can’t handle the attention it draws to her (she’s conditioned herself to not reduce into a blushing mess over time from her family work).
Q: Who is/are your OC’s closest friend(s)?
A: At first when she was temporarily staying with the Red Army, she hardly spoke to anyone aside from Edgar. However, after coming out to grab a glass of water in the middle of the night and seeing Kyle drinking himself stupid, she couldn’t help joining in, having a soft spot for liquor herself. She now occasionally joins him in his drinking sessions when she needs to let off steam. Also got close to Zero because he was nervous (and slightly suspicious) of her relationship with Edgar. Over time, they warmed to each other and when Zero realised she’s quite an adept fighter, he offered to train her. Seeing her join in with Zero and his troops on training sessions is...an experience, lemme tell ya.
Q: What is your OC’s greatest fear?
A: Her family coming back into her life and destroying the makeshift peace she has made for herself. She’s also terrified that this happiness she’s found will be ripped from her entirely and that it’s only a matter of time before she goes back to her old dreary life. Luckily for her, Edgar’s fears seem to mirror hers so he empathises. The two use each other to lean on and get through when their thoughts take a turn for the worse.
Q: What secrets does your OC have?
A: Eleanor…has a lot of secrets. The first person she ever opened up to about her life growing up was Edgar, but she still hasn’t told him everything…nor has she told him just how much her family is screwed up and how it has shaped her views more than she realises. These will be elaborated in a fic (by request)…when I have the time fsdjgnkdjgnsr. As for softer secrets, when she first started staying with the Red Army before a residence in Red Territory was available to her, she would sneak out into the Central Quarter to search for the busking musicians and sit down nearby to just listen and drift away to the music. Zero accidentally found out but has kept his silence about seeing her, both from her and Edgar.
Q: What kind of mother/father would your OC be?
A: She would be a strict yet fair mother and teach her kids the importance of standing up for themselves at a young age, something she wished she had learnt sooner. Especially considering Edgar would try to dote on his kids and increase their blood sugar levels, Eleanor will be there to balance it out. Will always hold her child/children’s hand(s) and swing her arm with theirs all cute-like.
Q: Who are the people your OC dislikes/hates?
A: The one real one-on-one interaction she had with Jonah she did not enjoy. She found him pompous to the point of insanity and made Edgar laugh when she said to wanted to rip the silver spoon from his mouth and stick it somewhere else. A similar incident occurred when Edgar arranged for her to meet Luka and when she quickly made the connection they were brothers, it did not bode well. Luckily for Luka, he’s not so much like his brother that Eleanor couldn’t hold a conversation with him, a fact that made Luka sigh with relief when he was told.
Q: What are some of your OC’s motivations?
A: Her freedom, her desire to live without being controlled, “and…..um….Edgar..specifically Edgar’s smile. Wh-what?! Don’t look at me like that, you fucking bellend!”
Q: What is your OC’s hobbies/interests?
A: Likes training and music. Has gradually accepted Edgar’s love of animals and goes with him to feed the pigeons and the Creeks. Admits she really doesn’t do much outside of that so is reading books in an effort to find new things that interest her.
Q: What would your OC’s favourite genre of music be?
A: Classical. She has a soft spot for violins especially.
Q: Would your OC accept hugs from someone?
A: If you tried to give her one without knowing, except to be thrown to the ground. If she at least expects it, she can accept it. The only hugs she truly enjoys are the ones from Edgar, though.

Damon :               Every one on Damon Greene here with
Damon:                the iconic agent. Today we'll be talking all things real estate, Facebook ads. And today I have a special guest with me. A Gentlemen I met about three weeks ago at a marketing conference. I like to say, not only do I teach this stuff, mentor and train myself, but I also go and I am mentored and go to trainings. Consistently. I Met this awesome gentlemen, Obi Okeei. We had dinner during one of the breakout sessions. We got to spark a conversation. I found out this guy has spent a whole lot of money on Facebook ads. So we chopped it up Facebook marketing and marketing in general. So I wanted to bring him on as another Facebook ads expert to kind of answer questions. We've got a poll that we took. We're going to cover the poll questions for the, about the first 15 minutes. Ask questions on the Facebook page as they come and we'll answer those afterwards. So Obi, thank you for joining us and just give us a little insight on yourself for folks that have never heard of you or don't know who you are and what you do.
Obi:                       So to everyone that's never heard of me. My name is Obi Okere and I have been in digital marketing for the last five years with a specialty in Google and Facebook ads. To date, I've probably spent over $6 million on Facebook and ecommerce, real estate, and all types of lead generation, you name it, I've probably done it. And so, I'm happy today to be on this call. Thank you Damon, for inviting me. And I'd love to share some insights that I've learned over the years of running Facebook ads, especially as it relates to marketing real estate listings and just things that I found work currently right now in the market.
Damon :               Awesome. Awesome. So let me see. I want to make sure that, uh, let's see, we're here a lot to make sure. Okay, let me, I got to post this link really quickly in the group on the Facebook. Let's see on the Facebook events page just in case folks can't find it. Then we'll go ahead and get started. While I do that. We took a poll and one of the public free Facebook groups that I have…all around new construction marketing for real estate agents. And we sparked the conversation and ran a poll around the top five things that you, the audience wanted. And the top three were followup and automation was number one, number two was ad targeting and finding your ideal client. And of course number three was ad copy and messaging. So Obi…I'm going to go ahead and paste this link over here real quick. As far as your expertise, give us some insight on ways that real estate agents can use follow up automation…however you interpret that follow up automation and then I'll come back and kind of give some advice. In the new construction marketing mastery program, we've got a complete system set up with followup automation. But I know you have spent a whole lot more money on Facebook ads than I have, so I definitely want to get your insights.
Obi:                       So one of the things that I've really found to be effective for followup automation on a Facebook ads are leveraging Facebook messenger ads. So basically what that looks like is somebody clicks on an ad and then they, the response goes into messenger and they get put into an automation where they have the opportunity to be fielded some questions that allow the realtor to qualify that potential client with a number of questions. For example, you know, what you looking for, are you looking to buy or rent, how much is your budget? All questions like that, that allow that realtor to qualify the prospect. So that then after the automation is done, that real estate agent can then step in as a human within Facebook messenger to contact that person, in Facebook messenger or over the phone. So that as far as I've seen, that's probably the most innovative or the newest innovation in the market right now, leveraging Facebook messenger to do that automation.
Damon :               Okay. And yeah, I totally don't know why I hadn't thought about that because I actually use the bots in my own marketing. That's definitely something that folks would want to look out for. Now one of the other things that I do at ties along with what Obi said, and you can combine the two together… If you use tools such as Zapier, which is basically glue, I consider Zapier glue, it ties everything together. You know we use in the new construction marketing mastery training, we use Zapier , call fire, slybroadcast and then your choice, we use a Weber, but your choice of email autoresponder to instantly send text messages as soon as leads come in. If you use a Bot, you qualify them, then you instantly send a text message, because you're 90% likely to lose that lead If you do not reach out then five to 15 minutes or 15 minutes on the high end.
Damon :               We also instantly send a voice broadcast to that lead. And then you'll also want to obviously send them an email as well. So that's the general follow up and automation. And as far as automation between the many Chat Bot, is that what you use Obi? Between the many Chat Bot and Zapier, they all tie together. You can put all this together to good package and really almost have yourself like an ISA when your leads come in. One of the biggest problems that I see agents talk about, number one, their followup is horrible. No offense to you guys that aren't, but if you know, your follow up is horrible, these help, but you still need to follow up. And leveraging these tools will help you instantly follow up.
Damon :               But when you sent a text message, you send an email, each one of those, the whole goal of that communication should be to get a response. So a lot of agents say, Hey, I get crap leads. These leads are no good. They're just looky loos. And yes, that is the case, but eventually they will probably convert. But if you don't have the tools in place and you're not trying to weed out those folks that are ready now, you're not going to get as good a result. So for instance, the first email goes out and says, Hey, Mr Lead is lead. My name is Obi. I sent you some information on this project. When is a good time to talk? Now you're leaving the ownness on them. So when we're talking about follow up and motivation, you always want to use your automation to follow up to get a response.
Damon :               And then you, you want to leave me the heck alone, call me at five. I'll be ready next week. I'm just going. But you want some response because those people respond. Now you can engage and start a conversation because all of this is digital. It's not completely digital. Even a text message follow back and forth. The testaments jtext messages say, Hey, I just sent you information over if what's a good time to talk? They can respond back to you and you can start a conversation and then you work your magic as a real estate agent from there. Let me see if we have any questions on there. What tool do you prefer for Facebook messenger automation? Nicole, we just thought about that many chat. It's free or $10 a month unless you're doing insane amounts of traffic, then I think it's a couple dollars more of it. but many chat is a really easy to use tool it's literally drag and drop. What else do you uh, use for automation or recommendation? Obi.
Obi:                       Many chat and Zapier. Those are my two go-tos. And then any email, ESP, email marketing tool that you prefer to use that for after that? Those are, those are my three main. Okay.
Damon :               Okay. All right, cool. Now here's the one that everybody kinda falls over …Ad Targeting. Now I'll say first and then I'm gonna let you go Obi because I know you've got a lot more data behind this than I do, but when you're targeting ads, there's actually, this isn't a question, but it's something that came in. It talks about Facebook recently removed the likely to move behavior from their audience, options, behaviors, demographics…what interests and all that work for buyers and sellers. Now, the first thing I'll tell you, which is what 90% of real estate agents don't do. You do not serve everyone or you serve no one. You have to determine who is your ideal client. Literally take a pen and a paper and just right down who your ideal client is…when you know your ideal client with… For instance me in the real estate niche, you're reading this transcript or watching this video because you are more than likely my ideal client, I found out how to reach you and I put a message in front of you that resonated.
Damon :               That's exactly what you need to do from a high level. So you need to know who your ideal client is. I talked to people strategy calls, a couple dozen people a week and who do you serve? I serve everyone. Anybody you can't have that. You can't do that. You have to serve a specific person and when you determine who your ideal client is, you just find out where more of those people are. Everybody else really doesn't matter. Now that probably doesn't answer the question as far as targeted specifically, but it actually ties in with the next discussion. We're going to have however Obi… Go ahead and give your take on that.
Obi:                       Alright. So targeting is a really interesting thing when it comes to Facebook ads on, um, when you're marketing a new development or different listings. This is something that I learned while running actually ecommerce campaign for a major sock brand. And during black Friday we spent $1 million just on black Friday and $1 million on that Saturday, Sunday and `Monday. And the craziest thing was, which was counter intuitive to what I ever thought is to basically use your ad as a weed out tool. So whoever you think your prospective client is, you'd put that into your ad copy. You could take that into consideration as you put your ad copy together and you market to a specific zip code as a whole. And so that will be everybody within that specific zip code, within your ideal ages that you're targeting and you just let the campaign run.
Obi:                       It's worked very well for me for some of the new development ad campaigns that I've ran where I've seen the leads that came in at a five to $10 cost per lead. And it's, it's really interesting because basically what that does is allows Facebook to do the work in terms of determining who to show your ad to especially those who are already in market to move or in market to buy or in market to rent. And so it, it's it, I didn't understand it but when I started to try it and test it out it, it works very well. Um, and something else that you can also a/b test against that strategy is to leverage the detailed targeting box at the ad set level. And let's say for example, you know that your target customer, they're interested in maybe entertainment or you have a target customer that's more family oriented. If they're entertainment, then you would want to check that entertainment box within the detailed targeting area at the asset level. Or if let's say you're targeting families, then you could target people who live in a single family home and you can geo target two zip codes that are near schools or that have a shopping amenities nearby. Those are some other things that you can leverage to a/b test against just blasting out to everybody within a certain zip code.
Damon :               let me stop you real quick and I ask you something. Sure, sure. I know what it is, but just to be clear so they understand what is a/b testing?
Obi:                       Okay. So Ab testing is basically, taking two I to ideas. You have a hypothesis that this may work or that may work and you can try both of them against the same audience to see whether or not which idea or hypothesis will be more effective. So you can do that with ads. You can take, u two different ads and run it against the same target.
Damon :               So you could take like a, a video ad and an image ad and test those two against each other to see which one resonates best has a lower cost per lead or the best reactions, right?
Obi:                       That's right. Or you can take the same ad and target and run it through two different areas to see which area, uh, resonates more with that one ad. And so that's ab testing in a nutshell.
Damon :               Okay, cool. And yeah, and to add to that, and this actually ties in very close with the next, you know, ad copy. But as far as your ideal client, one area, if you're looking for high end clients and $250,000, is not high end, but that's kind of the start. And luxury is subjective depending on the market. But if you're looking for folks that have money and you're tired, you lose test out. It's not guaranteed to work in every market. Cause every, you can go from Tampa to Orlando and it can be completely different results. That's why you have to test. But try within your targeting …American Express. Because folks that like American Express are typically folks that have American Express cards. And if you have an American Express card, it means you have good credit, you have good credit, it means you're probably able to buy a home.
Damon :               So that's a little small nugget to test out. But also ask yourself, and you know, we have a guided questionnaire that I'm actually putting in one of the trainings that I have, which is as far as your ideal client, ask yourself, what do they read? What types of publications, what types of books, what types of magazines, what types of websites do they visit? What kind of movies do they watch? What are their interests? Are they interested in golf? Are they should in boating? Are they interested in race, car driving? Are they interested in shopping? You want to get with your ideal client, kind of build those things out. You know, are they sending their kids to private schools? Is there a local private school that they'd send them to? Or, you know, there's so many things that you can dive into that will help you get in the mind of your ideal client.
Damon :               And then you can use the audience insights tool, which I don't hear too many people talk about much anymore, but you can actually use the audience insights tool in Facebook in your Facebook audience dashboard type of few of those in and get some more interest as to what folks like …now you can group your ads, your ad groups together and see, hey, let's see if this works. The main thing you have to do the homework up front and you've got to know who your ideal client is. You mentioned something and this is kind of going to the next topic….videos.
Obi:                       I have some other the ideas to share. So another thing that's available within Facebook is being able to target, how by household income. And so you can target a specific area by zip code city or states and within the detailed targeting box…If you type in income, you should be able to get the option that will show up for you to choose people who have a certain household income. So you can target at the highest threshold or at the lower threshold.
Damon :               They do have those thresholds. But you gotta be careful with real estate ads because sometimes you can get them through, but sometimes they'll tag you as being being discriminatory. I've had ads go through and some not. So that's something you'll have to, you know, give a try to. Yeah, because they took those away, these specific zip code pin dropping they're a little funky there. But that's why knowing your ideal client and using other targeting strategies, things they like, things they read, TV stations, shows, news sites, American Express, things like that. And you can really kind of hone in on on that. Now there's also social media examiner and adespresso, they have really good case studies and articles on Facebook marketing and also they have Facebook case studies where they have different audiences, but it's all about testing.
Damon :               There is no one size fits all. I've seen things work in California that don't work in Florida or some works in Tampa that doesn't work in Miami. So you have to be the expert of your area. That's why it's important. There's no cookie cutter system…you can't be lazy with it. There's no cookie cutter. You've got to put the work in. But once you get something working, it's great. And the other thing, and I'm going to let you touch on this too Obi…the key is you've got to keep running your ads because what you're doing, if anybody's a chef out there, anybody cooks. I love cooking because I love the heat. So cast iron skillet, you get your cast iron skillet. Like if you've got grandma's care started skillet, nothing's will taste better than anything off of that cast iron skillet because it's been seasoned those years of cooking.
Damon :               And the oils and the essence of the food has been cooked on their drip, then that's like your Facebook pixel. So the more you go, as long as you're targeting, right, Facebook gets smarter and says, okay, we need more of these people. So the other thing is you have to run ads consistently. You can't spend $50 and think, oh, I didn't get any leads and shut it off. You're not going to see results, you have to run. Not, I'm saying you have to run $1 million, like Obi but you've got to run consistently and get something good going and then it gets easier in time because you're literally seasoning that Pixel. And on the flip side, I know we talked a little earlier before we got on this call about remarketing. So as far as targeting, what are your thoughts on video remarketing and the types of remarketing that you are able to use if you have those resources.
Obi:                       So in terms of re marketing, one of the things that I like to do is to remakret to those who visited either the landing page or clicked on the ad, but didn't actually convert, and I'll create an audience with that for anyone did that in the last seven days. And I would just run the same ad to them because sometimes people are in a hurry, they click on an ad, they look at it, they say, oh, that looks nice. I'm, I'm interested, but don't have the time to actually input their information. Or they might've gotten distracted, whatever. Something prevented them from actually following through. And what I like to do is to remind them about their original intention because they did raise their hands and say, I'm interested because they went onto the website or clicked on the ad and I'll just show them the same ad again. If you think about it, how many times have you seen a commercial the first time? And said, that's it. That's an interesting commercial. And then you see that same commercial four or five times. Then you, by the fifth time you're thinking, you know what I, I think I might need that. So there's nothing wrong with just showing the same ad again to the same person who is already showing that they're interested.
Damon :               Okay. And to tie to that, we do have a question. How do you use Facebook ads to target prospects who have visited specific Google ads, builder pages and other locations effectively? Now Nicole , I know you are in the new construction marketing mastery program, that is actually something we will be covering very soon. But basically when you set up the Google ads or you have your own pages, just like you drop the Google Pixel, you drop the Facebook Pixel, now you can create a remarketing audience to follow them around the Internet, anywhere, Facebook, Instagram, CNN, Fox News, ESPN. Because you had those two pixels, you can follow them around and we're going to go deeper into that with a step by step and show you how to do that. But that's an awesome question. And actually you're the first person that asked that. I've, I've been talking about that. That's actually something that we will have coming up. So let's see, we've got about six minutes left. So let's dive into ad copy. What are your thoughts on ad copy?
Obi:                       Ad copy…what I like to do before I write anything, I like to research all of the community groups, message boards and just read about, um, what people are talking about in the neighborhood. And I think that's really important because what it does, it just puts you in the shoes of your target customer or the community that you're looking to market. And it just envelops you and follows you in the whole experience. And so once you are able to really put yourself in their shoes and engage in that experience, it puts you in a better place to actually write ad copy that you know, would be appealing to your target client. And that at a high level is the approach that I take to ad copy. It's very important to be able to empathize with your target client.
Damon :               Yup, and I'm going to tie it to that because one thing I would say is whoever your ideal client is, if you, if you're a new agent, you'll probably have to talk to a veteran agent, but if you're an agent has closed several transactions, go back to all those folks that you close and talk to them and say, hey, how was the experience? You know, what were your fears? What were you afraid of? Get to know them. And I'll give you a perfect example with me. I speak to dozens of real estate agents weekly. I take notes on every call. I have two or three pages of notes after each call. I take the notes, I'm listening to what they're saying to see if they're a good fit because I don't let everyone in the program, but I've got hundreds of these notes from folks that did join the program and those that weren't a good fit.
Damon :               Regardless…I go through every probably quarter and I literally just dive into, because these are my ideal clients. I dive into the pain points, what were the challenges they were having, et Cetera, and then that's what I used to extract new Ad copy. Something else I highly recommend and you tell me your thoughts on this. I'll bring it from a real estate perspective. Use Videos, whether it's you on video or whether it's a walk through video, because most real estate agents, number one, they're afraid of doing video two, they think it's more difficult than need to. All you need is a modern smart phone and a good mic, that's all you need. Use video because Facebook favors video. With video anybody that watches your video for say 25% of the video or 50% you can then do what Obi talking about earlier. You can remarket to them, but video is huge and if you're on camera, I can speak to you on video like some of you have seen my videos and are seeing your own videos now on Facebook and Instagram. I'm talking directly to you. I'm asking you questions. I'm saying, hey, does this message resonate with you? If it does, then you give me your name, email and phone number. And we get on a call, we talk where you watched the training. So that is something that you can do. What other tips do you have around ad copy?
Obi:                       One of the things that I like to do to add some structure is I build out a grid. And so at the top of the grid it would say their present state and the future state after they moved in to the t to the property. And then for each particular row I will list the, the current features, present state and the future state of what I'm marketing. I'll list the status, because status is something that's, that's keen to people. A lot of people want to raise their status. So you want to consider how will their status be raised as a result of the property that you're marketing, how will their day to day change? And that's something to consider. One of the new developments I was marketing was by a lake.
Obi:                       In the ad copy I wrote, imagine waking up to the sounds of birds chirping and sounds by a lake… Something to that effect. It, I wrote it much better than I'm actually saying it. Yeah. And that's the day to day. And so I, I that into the ad copy and then you also want to include the emotion, what's the current state that you think they're in and then what would be the future state that they would be in as a result of moving in. And so once you fill all those things out, if you combine the features status day to day and the emotion, you should be able to come up with something pretty special in terms of ad copy. That's something that I found to be really effective and learned it from a really great copywriter.
Damon :               So basically if you really want to see successful Facebook ads, you've got to do the homework. It's not…buy a Facebook course just do what the cours says like every other agent. I've had agents tell me that specifically. I bought this course on Facebook. I went through it, I did it, and now I'm seeing every other agent in my area has the same ads. Duh. You gotta be creative. You have to dive in. You have to be createive…and also if anybody saw the email that I sent out, if you Google Facebook ads library, it'll show you anybody running Facebook ads and you can use that for inspiration. Don't do what I just said and copy and paste. Exactly. But that'll give you some inspiration. You can get some statistics on some of the ads and see which ones are doing better than others. But keep a swipe file. A swipe file in, in high school or college used to be called cheating, but it's like an open book test. Any ads you see…screen, grab them, stick them in a word document for inspiration later. That's what you should do. So you can see what other people do. And I'd say the best thing you can do with that is go outside of real estate, see what other people are doing, and then bring that into real estate because then you know nobody else in real estaete is doing it and you're zigging and zagging.
Obi:                       I do that all the time. I'm spying on everybody all the time. Yeah.
Damon :               So all right, I know you got to go Obi, but tell everybody how they can get a hold of you. I know you've got an ads agency, if you want to kind of give them your URL. I don't know if you're accepting a consultations or clients, but just tell them a little bit of how to get ahold of you. And then we'll go ahead and get off here and you can get back to what you gotta do.
Obi:                       So if you want to reach me, you can email me. And that's a Obi at accelerated growth, digital.com ([email protected]) . So that's the easiest way to reach me. I'm pretty fast to respond. If I don't respond immediately, it's usually within 24 hours.
Damon :               Okay. Awesome. All right, everybody, and I am Damon Green with the iconic agent (https://www.theiconicagent.com) , and the new construction marketing mastery training…With some quick Facebook tips just to provide some value from a Facebook ads expert. Hopefully Obi…We can get you back on sometime soon and a even dive deeper. We only had 30 minutes today to really get in but I think this is really valuable. It looks like folks who are appreciating the conversation too.
