The Reproduction of Pyrekins
Pyrekins are androgynous. They don't have male or female parts and reproduce asexually through a ritual known as a conjuring.
The Conjuring Ritual
When a pyrekin wants to become a parent, they will usually gorge themselves with fuel and magic, if they don't do this, the energy loss could be fatal.
FUN FACT: No matter how much they consume, a pyrekin won't get any larger than their initial size; what they consume is immediately sapped of its energy content and dropped, with the energy being densely stored in their core
Before any of this, however, they need to know how to use life magic. Pyrekins are very unique when it comes to life magic, being one of the only mortal forms of life that can use it without dying or sacrificing another life in the process, but this doesn't mean it isn't still dangerous, as stated earlier.
And finally, the conjuring itself:
A fire is started in the centre of the room, this is the focal point of the ritual, and where the new pyrekin will be conjured
The pyrekin holds out their hands towards the fire and channels all of their energy into them, releasing the energy towards the fire as life magic
As the pyrekin does this, friends and family will comfort them and regularly tend to them due to the massive output of energy and magic.
The fire at the centre of the room will start to condense and glow blue and purple, this means the ritual is working. Soon after, the receptors will start to form on the baby pyrekin. (check previous post to know what receptors are)
If all goes well, the baby pyrekin is formed, taking the appearance of a small, blue, floating fire called a wisp.
The family and friends will usually hold a celebration party afterwards, where the parent pyrekin will be treated as royalty, fed and praised the entire time as they recover from the large loss of energy.
For more context on the core and the receptors:

If i had a nickle for every time i kinned a player character meant to be featureless/a player insert/defined by the player, I'd have three nickles. Which isn;t a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice. Soma (The talos principle) The Reader (Pyre) and the Knight (Hollow Knight) #sparkliestlesbian

....where are all the Pyre kins? When I kinned from this game, I kind of thought there'd be more of us out there. The game has such a rich cast of characters, but I guess the game's fanbase just isn't big enough? I think I've seen maybe... one sourcemate? Just sucks 'cause I would love to actually speak to sourcemates, doesn't even have to be canonmates. - a maybe lonely Pamitha

The Anatomy of Pyrekins
The Shell
The shell is a non-physical part of the body that is connected to the soul, it is invisible to the naked eye, but is what decides how the body is shaped. With practise, a pyrekin can learn to alter the shape of their body slightly, this skill is usually used to mimic hair and to present more accurately to their gender identity.
The Core
The core is an organ located at the centre of the chest that stores the energy and divine energy (magic), it releases these energies outwards to fill the shell and form the body.
The Receptors
The receptors are two multisensory organs located on the left and right midsection of the face that resemble eyes.
Senses attributed to the receptors include:
Sight
Hearing
Smell
Touch
Pain
Temperature
Balance

Toast Scorcher is the name of the main character of Fireside, he's a nonbiological species called a pyrekin, which are basically just humanoids made of fire
He has a 3 luma old sister called Steorra (old English word for star) and a 43 luma old mother called Fiamra, he and Steorra don't have a father, this is because pyrekins reproduce asexually
I'll go into more detail about pyrekins in another post to explain things more clearly, but I wanna focus on Toast with this post
Toast Stuff
Toast wears an old green cloak that he's had since he was really young, it used to cover his entire body, but now it only goes just past his elbows so he just stitched it shut so he could keep wearing it, he wears a belt, leather elbow pads, knee pads, and a simple necklace with a blue gem, usually hidden underneath the cloak, he thinks of the necklace as a good-luck charm and it was given to him by his mother, he also has leather gloves that go just up to his elbows, and leather boots that go just up to his knees
His cloak was also handmade by himself with his mother when he was only a few lumas old
He has 2 other cloaks, a red cloak with a hood, and a blue one with a collar
The red one will have plot significance (to do with the introduction of a character) and is a pretty simple design, it goes over the full body and has a red hood
He made this cloak on his own when he was 14
The blue cloak with a collar is what he usually wears in more formal settings, especially human populated areas (I will explain more about this in the upcoming pyrekin post) It covers his full body and sits on his neck by the collar, held together by a button
He got this cloak as a gift from his mother when he turned 16
The cloaks are a big part of his character, as well as clothing in general, despite him wearing minimal clothing himself, the green cloak is his main cloak you'll see when he's out adventuring or something, the blue cloak is what you'll see when he's in largely populated and fancy places, and you'll see the red cloak whenever it's night time or he's sleeping (he uses it as a blanket)
He has a very strong relationship with his mother and sister, pyrekin culture in general emphasizes the importance of having a strong bond with your family and caring for eachother
He and his mother are tailors (which has significance to the start of the story I have in my head) they make clothes and sell them
Toast also eats sticks

Recap And Update On The Overseers
There are a total of 15 gods (so far)
The first 2 are The Monarchs, Oziraepan (The King) and Mizaiya (The Queen)
These two are the ones that created The Three Realms (Celeseid, Arthseid, and Abyseid)
They also created The 12 Overseers (+1 That I'll get to in a moment)
The Overseers are basically the gods of Fireside, each given a specific purpose and job to fulfill
There are 2 Overseers of Tithseid (Now Celeseid)
There are 4 Overseers of Arthseid
And there are 6 Overseers of Ruthseid (Now Abyseid)
Now, about that +1 I mentioned earlier:
Narlethrawr is the newest addition and newest Overseer to Fireside (But they've been in my head since the beginning)
They're going to be the main villain of Fireside, and have a direct connection to the pyrekins' origin as a species (Which I'll talk more about in the future/another post)
Narlethrawr was the previous Overseer of The Land in Arthseid, they wanted to be a tyrant, wanted to abuse their power, and essentially enslave everyone in their domain, but Saelcor (Overseer of the Waters), Aeradir (Overseer of the Sky), and Artherris (Overseer of Arthseid as a whole) stopped them before they could do any extreme amount of damage, fighting them to the death, three to one, and finally...
Killing them.
And being replaced by a new Overseer to take their place as Overseer of The Land! Guarden!
"But how can they be the main villain if they're killed before the story even starts?"
Guess you'll have to wait until the next post to find out! :)
I'll be explaining about the origins of the pyrekins and how they connect to Narlethrawr, as well as More about Narlethrawr individually ^^

The Origin of Pyrekins and More on Narlethawr part 2
How did Narlethawr survive?
In fireside, the soul isn't fully connected to the body, only part of it is, when someone dies, this part of their soul dissolves into pure magic, severing the soul from the body, allowing it to be taken to Abyseid (basically the afterlife)
Narlethawr is a unique case, however.
Because they're an Overseer (a god) they can only be killed by other, more powerful, Overseers, hence why (if you check the previous post) Artherris was the one to fight them, being The Overseer of Arthseid as a whole, whereas Narlethawr was only The Overseer of The Land.
When they were defeated, it was their physical body that died, but their drive to finish what they started allowed them to cling onto the tiniest piece of his body.
They were extremely weakened, and most of their power was spent clinging onto this piece of themselves, as the part of their soul that tied them to their body had already dissolved and become the pyrekins.
Not only this, but his angels (12 total) left them, taking the opportunity to escape their tyranny, having been mistreated by Narlethawr throughout his reign.
Luckily for Narlethawr, their archangel (who does not yet have a name) remains loyal, helping them to build a following in the shadows, a cult of lies and deceit, full of manipulation. For Narlethawr, they can already see Arthseid, and maybe even all of The Three realms being theirs to rule. But for the archangel? They don't know the truth. And the truth is that the archangel had it so much worse compared to Narleth's other angels.
The archangel believes that Narlethawr is doing all of this for the greater good, they genuinely believe that there's a silver lining to their tyranny, they completely believe the lies, that their pain is worth it in the long run. That they'll finally be free from their abuse if they just help them achieve their goal, if they just see it through to the end.

The Origin of Pyrekins and More on Narlethawr
Pyrekins are humanoid beings made of fire.
They were brought into existence through the "death" of a malevolent god, Narlethawr (AKA "The Scourge" or "The Scourge of The Land")
Narlethawr (or Narleth for short) was the previous Overseer of The Land, but instead of protecting it, they wanted to rule it with an iron fist.
They wanted to be praised and worshipped endlessly.
They wanted to enslave all of Arthseid.
On the 5th of Elmen, 4605, Thawlethawr took their angels and destroyed everything in sight as a testament to their power, forests and cities burned.
Luckily, the other Overseers of Arthseid were quick to react.
Saelcor, Overseer of The Ocean, doused the fires.
Aeradir, Overseer of The Sky, held collapsing buildings and cleared obstacles to make evacuation easier
And Artherris, Overseer of Arthseid as a whole, fought Narlethawr directly, "killing" him.
Now, why have I been putting any words implying he died in quotes?
Well, gods don't just disappear that easily, do they?
As their body decayed into the earth, breaking into pieces, the sheer magical power that was held in Narlethawr's soul gave life to each piece of him that was falling apart.
That's how the first pyrekins came to be.
But this wasn't the end of Narlethawr.
