“okay so i’ll mix the pancake batter, corey will make the bacon, cayley will actually make the pancakes, and you’re just gonna what, sit there and look pretty ciara?” you joke to your best friend, the brunette giving you a cheeky smile, knowing damn well she wasn’t going to do anything for the breakfast you had planned for the moynihan’s.

corey shakes her head, already starting to put the bacon on the griddle. “y/n/n we knew ciara wouldn’t do anything. she’s just gonna sit on her phone and text spencer.” she makes her voice go nasily as she says the goalie’s name, making the three of you start to laugh.

“shut up!” ciara exclaims with blushing cheeks, grabbing an orange off the fruit basket and throwing it at her older sister. “at least i have a boyfriend!” 

“you shut up! we don’t wanna wake up mom and dad. we already woke up patrick trying to get y/n up this morning,” cayley grumbles, nodding in your direction and then it’s your turn for your cheeks to turn pink. the moynihan’s invited you on their annual vacation to the cape - like they normally did, since you and ciara had been best friends since kindergarten. yeah, that conversation with ciara when you and patrick started dating? it didn’t go well.

“yeah we had to get her to freaking untangle from him.” ciara glares at you and you give her a goofy smile, knowing she was still on the fence about your relationship - and it wasn’t that she didn’t want you two together, it was just, you were her best friend. dating her brother. she didn’t want to have to share you with patrick, but you liked to think that you balanced that relationship pretty well.

“c, i already promised you i was gonna sleep in your room tonight with you like old times,” you pout at her, grabbing the handheld mixer and putting the beaters in. “but you can’t get mad at me if i wanna hang out with pat too.”

corey points the tongs she was using to turn over the bacon at her youngest sister, “y/n’s right. we all know you aren’t fully on board yet with them, but pat is still her boyfriend and you’re still her best friend. she makes time for the both of you, and i don’t think you could ask for anything better.”

you give ciara a look, and she gives you a grim one before turning back to her phone and you let out a sigh putting the mixer into the batter. “pat wouldn’t hurt me, c. even if he did, that would never change us.” you sigh, pushing the button for the speed up. ciara glances back up at you.

“you never know, y/n. pat’s going to providence,” ciara grumbles under her breath, but you still hear it. it had been a topic of conversation every now and then, both with ciara and you and then with patrick and you.

“ciara!” you let out a frustrated sigh and your shoulders drop, your thumb slipping and pushing the button on the mixer all the way up. pancake batter goes flying all over the island of the kitchen and all over patrick’s shirt you had on.

ciara’s mouth drops open, meanwhile cayley and corey are too busy laughing their asses off to see how much batter you actually got all over yourself and the counter. “sorry, y/n…” she trails off. “you might wanna go change.”

“don’t worry, already on it,” you grumble, setting the mixer on the counter and turning around, “cay, can you finish this for me?”

cayley nods, hopping off the counter. “yeah of course, y/n/n, go change.” she says and takes the mixer from you. you quickly thank her and grab your phone from the counter, making your way upstairs to you and patrick’s shared room. 

yeah you weren’t sure how you got away with that one either.

sure, you had known patrick since your kindergarten class with him and ciara, but you two had only been dating for around seven months. it just seemed like patrice and michael trusted the two of you enough. big mistake. it had only been two days out of the two weeks you were going to be in cape cod, and you had been making the most out of any time the two of you had together alone.

you open the door of your shared room, patrick standing with his back facing you as he shuffles through his drawers. when he hears the door open and close he turns around, white towel wrapped low enough on his waist to expose his v-line. his hair was still damp from the shower, droplets of water sticking to his newly tanned skin.

patrick clears his throat, and immediately your eyes snap up to look into his. “like what you see?” your cheeks flush pink and you bite your lip, a smirk growing on patrick’s face. 

“i guess so,” you admit sheepishly, stepping further into the room with blushing cheeks. “i got pancake batter on me. i just came up to change, bub.” you look over your shoulder at patrick who’s now sitting on your shared bed as you walk over to the bureau to pull out another shirt. patrick’s eyes never leave you.

you pull your shirt over your head, tossing it into the laundry basket before leaning in to the bureau mirror to make sure there isn’t any batter in your hair. you don’t see or hear patrick get up from his bed, but he does, and when he reaches you he wraps his arms around your waist and nuzzles his head in your neck.

“what are you doing, pat,” you mumble, head tilting to the side feeling him start to pepper kisses along your neck. patrick lets out a soft hum against your skin and your eyes flutter closed.

“i saw the way you were looking at me.” his fingers gingerly brush your hair away from your neck. “twenty minutes, tops. we’ve barely done anything since we’ve been here, you’ve been with c constantly.”

pat’s free hand presses along the skin of your hip, and you turn around in his arms to face him, your back pressing against the dresser. “because she’s my best friend, p. i can’t just ditch her because i have a boyfriend. who just so happens to be her brother.” you brush some of his hair away from his forehead, smiling innocently up at him. 

“please, y/n? twenty minutes tops. promise.” he practically whines. you can’t help but roll your eyes at the brunette you had grown to love over the years, and here you were giving into all his words. you were putty in his hands.

“twenty minutes, that’s it, moynihan.”
