Since this episode came out on FP, I’ve been wanting to make this edit. Every arc, from when Bronze had a one on one with Deacon, to being lectured by Buddy, I’ve said how I loved that Deacon’s struggles with the helper key wasn’t just a “one and done thing.” One heartfelt talk, and suddenly the problem is fixed was not the case here. Despite saying he appreciated the role after sick day, he still used the hero key in the Book of Deacon. Even though he understood the importance helper key, he couldn’t let being the hero go completely. Not when his desire to be a hero was rooted in wanting things to be different for himself. After all, we as humans don’t change our beliefs and desires as soon as we learn they might not be the best, we continue exploring, and it changes gradually.

Even after he got his Prince outfit, and was heroically riding a horse, Deacon says he is happy to help. The helper is a hero in their own wright. Thank you for showing this truly brilliant learning curve Punko.

I hope in season two he continues to be not just a helper to Chase, but a helper to himself by taking charge of his future. By doing so, he will become the hero he needs.

Chase x Buddy headcanons? 🥹🙏

OH BESTIE-

Cuddler x Cuddler dynamic neither of them can sleep without cuddling something (who needs a body pillow when your bf looks like a model anyway)

Buddy has no problem being all over Chase, hugging, casually slinging his arm over his shoulder, sitting on his lap, holding hands, etc. but the SECOND Chase is the one who initiates it he turns into a flustered victorian lady I'm talking whole face glowing red XD

Chase is awful at video games. Buddy is even worse. It's the first time in Chase's life he had to 'go easy' on someone while playing games so they could win. He lets it get to his head and Prunella DESTROYS him at Mario kart.

The Elder would have Chase killed if he knew.

Granpha Ralph on the other hand adores Buddy. His grandson is finally dating someone else other than his bodypillow AND he has great manners????? Chase asks if he has any friends that can meet Deacon

Buddy is extremely jealous and possessive, but it isn't obvious. He is more like an always hold hands or be right next to each other kind of guy who only speaks up if the other is openly flirtatious

Buddy is multi-lingual and can speak lots of languages fluently including dead ones, but he can't for the life of him say I love you outside of a really intense moment. So Chase told him to squeeze his hand three times when he wanted to say I love you but couldn't find the words.

Buddy squeezes Chase's hand three times 7 billion times a day.
