the ones i mark as “favorite” just have some aspect of them that im especially drawn to; like the forest scene in ivan’s childhood or the cinnamon toffee of mother of george. my favorite overall was maybe the world of us, which reminded me a lot of my own childhood; and i liked the way the camera stuck to the main character in certain scenes. i also liked long day’s journey into night bc all it takes to impress me is a floaty camera and long takes.

all the movies i rewatched i already liked, except for touch of evil, which i watched bc the opportunity presented itself to me and i wanted to see if i still found it as boring as the first time i saw it nearly ten years ago in my high school film class, and the answer is yes i still don’t like it lmao. take care of my cat was still a nice watch though; i also watched jeong jae-eun’s 2017 film butterfly sleep, but it’s not listed bc i stopped watching after 15 minutes; it was a nope from me.

watching a borrowed life and early hou, i could guess a little what wu nien-jen wanted dust in the wind to be: the personal voice-over hou did for the time to live and the time to die; the relatively straightforward adaptation of chu tien-wen’s script for a summer at grandpa’s. in the mood for love is still a juggernaut lol; i like it for many of the same reasons i like the assassin.

Prologo

“¿Y bien?”

El sol había casi desaparecido bajo el horizonte dejando un frágil sendero de estrellas en su camino. Por la tarde las últimas nubes del invierno habían abandonado el cielo moviéndose hacia el sur. Todo lo que quedaba de las violentas tormentas de granizo y nieve de la semana pasada se condensaba ahora en pequeñas manchas blancas en el suelo y en nubes finas y brumosas que la tarde coloreaba de amarillo. Contra la oscura noche que se acercaba, el cielo parecía imitar el pelaje de un tigre.

Una delicada gata carey miraba las nubes, pero su atención estaba enfocada en la hembra a su lado, una alta gata azul con gesto severo. Esta miraba el bosque frente a ella como si los problemas que poblaban su mente estuvieran moviéndose entre los árboles. No daba señales de haber escuchado la pregunta.

La gata manchada esperó antes de volver a preguntar. “¿Qué opinas?”

“No tengo opinión al respecto aún,” respondió cortantemente la gata azul. “No comprendo porque no nos diría nada o que le asusta.”

“Pero estaba asustado,” dice la gata carey, su voz mucho más suave. “Y eso me asusta a mí también.”

La gata más alta mira a su subordinada un momento antes de lanzar otra mirada molesta al bosque. “Le crees”

“El clan estelar no me ha mostrado que esté mintiendo.” Responde la otra, mirando brevemente el camino por el que habían venido. “Si no estás segura, quizás deberías comenzar-“

“No,” interviene la hembra azul. “No en base a rumores y paranoias”

“No podemos mantener todo esto un secreto, Estrella Azul. Al menos háblalo con Cola Roja” Recomienda la gata jaspeada.

Mientras el silencio se prolonga entre las dos, ambas miran al cielo sangrar desde el azul al negro, la oscuridad tragándose las últimas pinceladas del día. Las estrellas aparecían una a una, solo media luna se había alzado al norte.

“Hablaré con él,” Decide Estrella Azul. “Podemos mandar un explorador a la frontera en los próximos días”

“Gracias,” murmura la carey mientras se agazapa colocando sus patas bajo su cuerpo. “Hasta entonces… siempre necesitaremos más ayuda”

Estrella Azul no movió su cabeza pero sus afilados ojos amarillos viajaron hasta la gata agazapada a su lado. “Entonces, ¿crees que ha llegado el momento?”

“Lo creo, he visto chispas en el cielo hoy”

Estrella Azul le dirigió una intensa mirada. “Debes prepararte para ser su partidaria, incluso aunque no te den la razón.”

“No me la darán,” murmulla cerrando los ojos. “Pero el clan estelar es infalible. Sé que es la decisión correcta”

“Te tomo la palabra” Dice Estrella Azul mientras se levanta. “Llevaré una patrulla. Mantén esta conversación entre nosotras hasta que vuelva a hablar contigo”

“Sí, señora,” responde la gata carey pasivamente. No se mueve hasta que su superiora ha desaparecido de su rango de oído. Lentamente, vuelve a mirar el cielo. La media luna le devuelve la mirada.

“Nunca se equivocan,” se repite a sí misma sintiendo un escalofrío recorrer su cuerpo. La luz de luna parecía haberse hecho hielo.

 Here comes the prologue!! I’m sorry it took so long, I’ve been having a lot of personal problems and well, I just didn’t have enough energy to do anything at all. So yeah! I have taken some language liberties: changed some verbs, some words… some of them just didn’t sound right in Spanish so I decided to use similar ones. Let me know what you guys think!

¡Aquí está el prólogo! Siento haber tardado tanto, he estado teniendo muchos problemas personales y bueno pues no tenía fuerzas ninguna para hacer nada. Pues eso, me he tomado algunas libertades, cambiado algunos verbos, algunas palabras… una traducción literal no sonaba bien así que decidí usar similares. ¿Qué os parece?
