Well it's been a minute! I'm back with more updates on this field jacket. I have finished the sleeves and put the lining into those, they're looking nice if I do say so myself!
I also did the front welt pockets.
These are just hand pockets so they're kind of useless for holding things 馃ぃ I put these lower than on my first one, as they were in a very uncomfortable position originally. I'm working on the back details now, so await an update on that 馃槈
Wish me luck 馃枛

Dif tor heh smusma, y'all 馃枛 I'm back with more jacket updates.
The sleeves are almost done at this point. Hardest part was doing the quilted sleeve cuffs. I decided to do the faux quilt stuffing method because its much easier for me to get even lines and the thickness I want. So it's the cuff pattern, doubled on a fold. Then a facing. And then I sew and stuff the interior for the cutout. Baste that between the two sides of the sleeve cuff and voila!
Then its sewing and stuffing the vertical lines of these and thats done.
Theres also piping in between the three arm sections, so im cutting strips of bias tape from my fashion fabric, sewing those together and stuffing them. Basteing those on to one side and then sewing the sections together. I promise this sounds way more complicated than it is!
Next is hand sewing on all the sleeves details, then we can start preparing the front pieces! (Starting with the welted hand pockets -_-)
See ya next time 馃槈

Okay okay, back again with a jacket update. I have all my fabric now, hardware still on its way.
I'm starting with cutting out all the lining and interfacing. Sewing together only the body parts of lining together and zigzag stitching all those seams. I'm leaving the shoulders open so I can attach it to our outer layer later on (sleeves will be put on after, they have their own whole lining situation.)
Next it's on to cutting all the outer pieces. I'm going to start with the sleeves since I DETEST doing sleeves and this way I get can get them out of the way before working on the fun parts 馃槅
Going well so far, lets hope it stays that way. Ad astra per aspera 鉁ㄢ湪

Hello Hello! And so begins my newest project, TWOK Field Jacket Mark 2 馃煡
I've started with repatterning my original pieces. The main things to fix are:
-the front width
-the back and top arm detailing
- angled side seams for more flare
- the pleat under the back pocket
AND width of the shoulder seam- which in turn meant I had to edit my armscye 馃檭
With those all fixed with seam allowance added, we are ready to start with sorting out all of the hardware.
This means the front buckle (its actually an old breifcase clasp), the three ball clasps on the front and back pocket, the four big D rings and four of those funky lil connector pieces that go over the straps. (Adding here is the patch for the shoulder, the rank badges and the pips for the upper arm band.)
I have fabric and stabiliser ordered and on its way for next week 馃槑馃枛
+ my old old version for transparency:
