Bettye Danoff

Professional golfer Bettye Danoff was born in 1923 in Dallas, Texas. Danoff was a founding member of the Ladies Professional Golf Association. She won four consecutive Dallas Women's Golf Association Championships, and won the women's division of the Texas PGA in 1945 and 1946.

Bettye Danoff died in 2011 at the age of 88.

"Poor Rory" was all you could think as you watched your boyfriend at the 18th hole. He had come back so well on the third day only for it to be seemingly for nothing as he continuously dropped shots. And you knew the commentators would go harsh on him for this. You couldn't blame him, though. Golf was harder than it looked, and to keep up such a reputation wasn't easy. You just hoped he wouldn't take it too much to heart.

After watching the ball fall into the hole, you swiftly made your way back to the hotel. Despite the long distance, you knew you'd be first as Rory would still be congratulated by his peers. You took advantage of that time by creating a cozy setting in the apartment living room, even bringing out some champagne for a little celebration. However, you soon realised that that may not be for a while yet, judging by how your boyfriend entered the room.

Before you could get a word out, Rory was falling into your arms, breath heavy with a light sob here and there. You quickly took to gently hushing him with little pats on his back, then to holding him with one arm and holding his head with the other for more comfort. "Oh sweetheart, I know, I know. You did the best you could! Plus, it wasn't terrible; you still had a decent ending!" He looked up at you with both disbelief and hope. You took that as a sign to continue. "I mean, look at your partners from your rounds. You pretty much did better than all of them! Especially Jordan." You chuckled, and he did too. "I guess so. Do you think I have a chance?" "A chance at what?" "Winning again someday." "Oh I'm sure darling. I'm sure." You cuddled him reassuringly and he gladly accepted.

"Now, you must be so tired. How about we go to the sofa?" Rory nodded, wiping his eyes before following you. Once you sat, he made himself comfortable snuggling beside you, head on your shoulder with a blanket loosely draped over you both. "Hey darl," you started. "Hm?" He looked up at you with slightly tired eyes. "How about some champagne?" "Champagne? What for?" "To celebrate you, of course!" Rory made a little sound of disbelief in the back of his throat. "While you may not have won, I have," you said, pouring out two glasses of champagne and handing one to him. "With the best boyfriend in the world."

You would remember the heart eyes Rory gave you forever: so full of love and tenderness. You chinked glasses and kissed before settling in to watch some tv before bed.

Perhaps it hadn't been such a bad day for Rory after all.
