He is the most self-aware sibling out of everyone out this fuck ass family. And I feel for him honestly, being the black sheep, being the outcast. Being able to use your magic when you were a witch and then all of a sudden you can’t do that shit anymore because you’re dumb ass mom wants to make y’all fucking vampires and freaks of nature and then wants to kill you, like it was your fault in the first place? Like he calls his family and siblings out for having a para social relationship that is super into emotional and measurements, and having no boundaries whatsoever, killing other peoples lovers, putting them in coffins just so Klaus doesn’t feel like he’s losing his siblings because he can always take them whenever he goes. But they’re still in a box, they’re not living life they’re not being happy. So I feel that he would really vibe with NF, I really do. He gets hugged, and he knows that NF is speaking about his life someway somehow and it just really hits him and he just cries in your arms for that time

I don’t care how corny you think this man is, this is real music and he writes about things that are real, and that happens to him. The song mansion is legitimately about Kol’s life with being being abandoned and abused by his own family, and his own father, as class was taking most of the beatings, he still had to watch all of that. But being the middle child that he was, he just was overlooked, and that probably speaks as to why he acted out and didn’t get any of attention that he deserves.

And I feel that as Kol gets into a relationship relationship with you, you being his black queen, because I know that man was up in Hady for some reason helping him with the revolution. And then just head to the show. But as soon as the show starts, he probably starts off with one of his hard hitters. I’m imagining either therapy session, or mansion to really get the tears going. And it’s really just the two of you standing side-by-side, maybe even hand and hand shouting every single lyric word for word, and just letting out all the shadow work and trauma, that you two have built up over the past couple years, granted Kol is Literally hundreds of years old, and you’re probably someone your 20s or 30s. But trauma is trauma and y’all need to deal with that.

Right, while everybody else is” because in every single episode, when Kol says not to mess with some dumb shit that causes about to fucking do everyone else ignores him, even Elijah, and they fuck around and find out, and they all of a sudden need help. And then complain like no one told them exactly what the fuck was going to happen in the first place. This man is always right, and he needs people to listen more to him. He’s been listening to what his heart says, he’s been going out and meeting new people and trying to live a life that he would really be proud of. Even though he’s very much unhinged and still acts out because he wants to be king of the world and wants to have some form of control like Klaus has because he knows that he can never get away from Klaus.

And then, when I feel like it’s towards the end of the show, and NF finally drops, hope, I feel like that’s when Kol really starts to let go of things a little bit, and really start listening to lyrics and make a promise to himself with like, maybe fighting against his dark side, a little bit of all the things that he’s known, and then just digging himself a deeper hole. He wants to actually get better for you, and for himself to have a healthy relationship. Because he’s never had that in his life, and you’re just not a play thing to him at all.

I feel like he would already be in Erykah Badu fan, probably really like the Beastie Boys, was into old school, underground in New York, hip-hop and rap. He was probably there, underground, too, for shits and giggles when he wanted a break. So no, I don’t think you would have to introduce him to hip-hop, maybe to a couple artists and everything. But, that doesn’t need help with that department

I feel like Elijah would definitely be a Kendrick, Lamar, J. Cole fan in the rap game and even Lil Wayne too. But I want to get into some good old Tom foolery before I say my crème de la crème.

With the whole Kendrick, J. Cole and Drake beef, that’s happening, I don’t think that Elijah would ever take any sides. But I do feel like he would definitely keep up with the news, even though you wouldn’t expect them to, with the whole suit and everything.

Like I know, J. Cole was on his bike on his way to the studio. As soon as he heard what Kendrick Lamar said, but then again, he could also not be doing anything because he’s not the type to just be on Rappy just to get some shit going you know?

But anyways, I feel like Elijah would totally indulge in this, and he would write down a whole play-by-play with what everything means because the power money and respect? “Sweetheart, Drake is the money, Jermaine Coke is the respect, and Kendrick is the power….” I can fully foresee that man giving you a dissertation on every single line and lyric and how it is a jab at every single one of them, and the meaning is behind it. But moving along from the rat beef, I really do feel like this man would be a Lil Wayne fan because Lil Wayne was setting a standard early in the 2000s and probably even before then about how he really is one of the best rappers out there. Like, no one else was doing it like him and no one else doesn’t like him, and will never do it like him. You would catch yourself humming to a Lil Wayne, and I feel like that man would pick it up instantly, and just go bar for bar on whatever humming note that you were on and it’s amazing, but it seems so out of character for him, but it’s really not.

Because this concert is going to be one hell of a trip because first and foremost he is not going there with a suit on, you’re going to have to get this man to be casual. Which shouldn’t be hard because he loves you, you’re his little chocolate drop, pumpkin. But putting this man in a leather jacket and some jeans and whatever shoes that are comfortable for him to wear at this concert is gonna be one thing. Fighting off other bitches while in the crowd is going to be another thing entirely as well.

But listening to him, actually let lose for the good two hours that you’ll be there at the concert screaming at your lungs, and listening to this man stay on rhythm beat and have actual breath control when he’s going for a speed to is going to be insane in mind melting

Let’s be honest, you wanna fuck this man on the regular basis just because he’s him. But you’re telling me that he’s cultured and he can wrap and knows what the fuck he’s talking about?

self indulgent post with visuals for my Young Royals future fic

I took a walk all over the city today, something I haven’t done in a while. With all the things going on, it was nice to move my body and get out and about. It was sort of dreary and drizzly and cool, but since it’s been so hot these past few days, it was a nice change.

As I walked through one part of the city, it occurred to me that part of my path intersected with my fanfic plans. One of my future headcanons is that both August and Nils go to Georgetown for university. I realized I was walking on a path that was probably one of August’s jogging routes. I decided I’d take some photos and post them here with some captions, in case anyone finds it interesting.

This is so far from show-related I am not tagging it or making it rebloggable. But I hope you enjoy all the same!

This is the House of Sweden, which also houses the Swedish and Icelandic embassies. They run a lot of cool cultural exhibitions, and sometimes there are rooftop concerts and Christmas markets and things. I believe some of the actual Swedish royal kids did summer internships here, so this is where I imagine August doing his own summer internship. He also has a colleague working for the Icelandic embassy who becomes Nils’s boyfriend.

Just around the corner from the embassy is a boating center. A lot of the private schools in the area row here. I imagine August would find some familiarity in a sight like this!

Speaking of being around water… here’s a cool shot of the C & O canal. Caution: there are Canada Geese lurking in this area. I will throw a bone to all the August haters out there and headcanon that one morning while jogging he gets chased by Canada Geese.

Here’s a few of the Kennedy Center on the Potomac. If Wille and Simon ever came to DC, they could see a play, opera, or concert here.

At this point if August glances back over his shoulder, he can see the towers of Georgetown in the distance. He’s a long way from campus, but he probably won’t regret running that far. Probably.

Eventually he’d get to a walkway that takes him to a sculpture garden attached to the Kennedy Center. (Do you think he’d look at this horse and think about Sara? Absolutely.)

On his way back up the hill, August would catch sight of Saudi Arabia’s embassy. He probably would have also seen Thailand and Ukraine’s embassies during his morning run, but I didn’t get a picture of those because they’re earlier on his route and I didn’t have the idea in my head to take photos yet. (Interesting fact: the DC government renamed the street in front of the Saudi Arabian embassy Jamal Khashoggi Way.)

Final image! This is a little bit off August’s jogging path, but it’s the EU Delegation Building. Currently they’re advertising the EU Open House, where all the EU embassies open their doors to the public and offer free food and swag (and basically aggressively promote their countries so you can think about going on vacation there.) Since August is an intern at the House of Sweden, he would probably have to shake so many hands that day and do so much PR as part of his job. Or he would have to hand out so much swag. (When I volunteered at the Finnish embassy I had to hand out food samples and came home smelling like rye bread and herring.)

Carson translates and sometimes modernizes Greek and Latin works, including works from Euripides, Homer, Sappho, and Sophocles. She has published ten translations of ancient Greek tragedies, including seven by Euripides, and collections of Sappho's poetry. She has had a translation staged, a 2015 European and American tour of her translation of Antigone. She also publishes original works of poetry and essay collections. 

Carson is a private person, though her poetry is often considered personal in nature. The University of Iowa Libraries Special Collections has her most explicitly personal work, Nox, an epitaph to her brother Michael Carson published in the form of a book-length poem. The siblings were not in contact from 1978 until 2000, and he passed away before they could see each other in person. This is at least the second work Carson created to honor a family member. She wrote an epitaph for her mother using the work of Virginia Woolf in her poem “Appendix to Ordinary Time” in Men in the Off Hours. Nox is a collection of fragments, photos, and writing that form a scrapbook-like work to honor her brother.

Oh well hello welcome back! Very long rambley answer under the cut :)

Tbh there's been way more insane stuff that's happened since, but in 2022 the biggest thing that had happened was Dan released his video "Why I Quit YouTube" where he announced that he was going on a solo tour ("We're All Doomed") and making some YouTube videos to go along with / promote the tour ("Dystopia Daily"). So I don't remember the exact details (I bet if you search dan and phil iceland on tumblr you might find some stuff), but Dan's tour was supposed to end in Iceland, and based on some stuff his friend PJ said on twitch it seemed like maybe he (and his gf) and Dan and Phil were going to have a vacation in Iceland after the last show. And idk if there was anything else (like maybe based on stuff they were liking on social media idk lol) people were like... what if they are having a wedding in Iceland after the last show? Apparently Iceland has been advertised as a gay wedding tourism destination too so idk. I think tumblr phannies were just bored and clowning but also it was 2022 which was the infamous prophesized year they were supposed to get married (based on a joke Crabstickz made years ago), so there was this thought like, what if they get married in early 2023 (when the Iceland show was supposed to be) out of spite.

Anyways, the Iceland show ended up getting cancelled. I'm not exactly sure why, but there were some other cancelled shows too and some people suspect it was due to poor ticket sales / too many shows in one city / issues with venues (maybe they were scheduling some that were too big) / issues with promotion (dan's management and touring agencies left most of the promotion to him outside of the standard local venues in-house promotion). Both Dan and Phil got new management this year after all that (Dan now has an agent for his comedy / touring stuff, Phil has an agent for his own channel, and then they have another agent for the gaming channel).

Anyways, 2023 kicked off and Dan and Phil started doing all kinds of insane stuff, which that's a whole other long post about how wild this year has been (Japhan 3.0, OnlyPhans, Gaming Channel comeback, Dan being a slutty nun for Halloween baking, Catboy calendar, etc) and they have been pretty open and comfortable together online lately (while still being fairly private) and more settled in their lives that some people actually think they might actually be getting married. Which, idk maybe we are just being insane again but this time I actually do think it's more believable lol. They bought/designed a house together (though I think it's actually a condo? penthouse? something like that) and Phil has had some health issues so even though they might not really be the kind to want to get married, some people are wondering if they might do it for legal reasons and also to maybe celebrate their relationship with family since Dan came out to his family and then like 9 months after their coming out videos the pandemic happened. Also doesn't help that next year is their 15th anniversary, which the anniversary of the first day they met takes place on the same day Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance are performing at the We Were Young Festival 2024 lmaooo. I mean some people are still convinced that they are queerplatonic and romantic exes or something like that but there's a lot they have shared that heavily implies that they aren't.

Okay, now the Phil tag examiner... Idk there was this blog that kept sending people asks anytime they posted something in the Dan and Phil or dnp tags that didn't explicitly mention Phil, and were like "hello this is the Phil tag examiner please keep posts only about Dan out of the Dan and Phil tag" and it was kinda funny to be honest. It stopped after a while idk what happened to them but no one was taking them seriously.

Anyways, I got back into dnp while Dan was on his tour about a year ago, and it's been such a wild year and now is probably like one of the best times to start watching them again there's sooo much new content with the gaming channel and they are being very authentically themselves it's really great.

Rae: There are plenty of places she'd like to visit... but maybe Iceland - hot springs, the Aurora Borealis, all sorts of beautiful things to see and explore.

Robin: Hm... Dublin? Or at least, flying in to Dublin and then driving around, seeing where her family's from before they immigrated to the U.S.

Madison: Coastal Queensland, to see some of Australia's reefs

Ophelia: London, maybe? She'd like somewhere with a lot of museums, tours, and other educational attractions.

Gia: Pass. She has no interest in going anywhere far enough to warrant a plane. She gives the ticket to Kate.

Jasper: I could see them flying to Colorado and staying at a ski resort for a few days... skiing and snowboarding to appease Jasper's adrenaline-junkie side, and plenty of alone time with Kyle...

Kestrel: Honestly, probably does that thing where you spin a globe and travel to wherever your finger lands, since they've been to so many places already for their job.

Katherine: Cairo!! She'd love to see some of Egypt's history in person, especially since she's already so entangled with it.

Quinn: Eh, she's not much of a traveler - at least not on commercial flights, when even One's private jet still wrecks her joints. She probably just sells the ticket or something.

Eris: Probably flies to some old battle site to see how time has changed things - by old, I mean several hundred years old, not like the World Wars or anything like that. They'd probably have a really good time retracing all the steps of the battle, talking about the fights and injuries and everything.

Nikoletta: Honestly, she's never had the funds for any sort of vacation before, so she probably ends up with one of those stereotypical-idealistic destinations - Paris, Rome, the Florida Keys, something like that.

Jimmy: How exactly would one get him on a plane? Needless to say, his passport's a little expired. And his mental image of the places he'd want to visit is vastly different from the way those places actually look nowadays.
