THERE WAS ONLY SO MANY WAYS TO TELL SOMEONE YOU LOVE THEM. After dating someone for the majority of your life, and struggling through the stresses of college, there seemed to be only one for you and Stan. The soft taping from the air conditioning that you both neglected, and never had the time to fix. The gentle humming coming from the tea pot cooking over the stove. And nothing said I love you, then this moment, where you laid your head against Stan's shoulder as he strummed softly against his guitar.

“And you can tell everybody, this is your song.” He sang softly, his voice scratching slightly due to not having been warmed up yet. It may have been 5:00 in the afternoon, but you didn’t care. Your eyes still drooped with tiredness as you listened.“It may be quite simple but, now that it’s done.”

“I hope you don’t mind.” You sang, looking up to see Stan smiling lightly back at you.

“I hope you don’t mind.” He sang back, resting his head against yours. “That I put down into words. How wonderful life is.”

“Now you’re in the world.” You sang back to him, lifting your head slightly to place a soft kiss against his lips. The guitar stopped, yet you could still hear it play. You were in love, you knew that. And so did Stan.
