Dusted a few bottles off from the basement to split with @kevduce. The @stonebrewingco Enjoy After 07.04.16 was a Brett IPA. It had flavors of tart grapefruit, straw, and sugar. There was a slight bitter finish. It was great! @prettythingsbeer Babayaga Sylvan Stout was bottled in the fall of 2015. It had a subtle smokiness to go with the malt and roasted grain. This was still great! Thankful for few more Pretty Things bottles in the basement. #beergreat #beerfriendsarebestfriends #brettIPA #prettythings #babayaga

I don’t know if Pretty Things Beer and Ales named themselves after the band. I do now though that their Meadowlark IPA is tasty. A solid but not overblown hop profile (oranges and limes come to mind) and a hint of caramel in the malts.

Hoppy Tripels

I've had Pretty Things Fluffy White Rabbits several times before, but this was the freshest bottle to date, thanks to increased NY distribution and the bottling month now being indicated on the new label design (this was less than a month old).  Bubblegum, pear, apple, banana and clove meets a large dose of bracing earthy hops.  Much more of a hop punch than I remember, might sit on a bottle to compare with a future release.

So far, I have been a big fan of Grimm Artisanal Ales.  They have bottled eight batches, with three - three! - being Tripels, the style that remains my favorite.  BFF packs a lot of juicy hop character - mangoes, orange, grapefruit - on top of slightly spicy yet fairly neutral yeast.  This beer is great!

P.S.  It is funny that the two labels' theme and colors are fairly similar, especially being from two breweries who are fairly similar to begin with.  I guess the beers would be considered similar given that hoppy Tripels are not very common, but they both take the style in very different directions.
