In his acceptance speech, Shri Vallabh Bhanshali said, Prof. Achyuta Samanta has set a high bar in achievement, empathy and commitment. No human quality is greater than gratitude, he stated, while suggesting students cultivate this quality. Shri Bhanshali was conferred Honoris Causa D.Litt. for his vision in diverse fields of finance, behavioral sciences, education, motivational skills and scientific spiritualism. “The batch of 2021 has fared well with their erudite and resilience despite challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic”, said Prof. Achyuta Samanta, in his message to the students.

Referring to KIIT��s immense contributions in the realms of education, healthcare, sustainable development, literature, culture and sports, he mentioned that it is the only university in India to have sent three of its students - Ms. Dutee Chand (Athletic), Mr. Shivpal Singh (Javelin Throw) and Ms. C. A. Bhavani Devi (Fencing-Sabre) – to represent India in Tokyo Olympics, 2021. 

In his address, Prof. Ved Prakash, Chancellor, KIIT-DU said, “Government of India has chosen KIIT as an Institution of Eminence (IoE) in 2019. It signifies that KIIT has emerged as one of the most premier universities in the country. It has become the most sought after university by the aspiring youth of different nationalities”. “You have the responsibility to take forward KIIT’s unique vision - Education is the driver of growth and eradication of poverty - throughout the globe”, Prof. (Dr.) Subrata Kumar Acharya, Pro-Chancellor told the graduating students.

Presenting the report of the University, Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Vice-Chancellor (I/C) informed that the prestigious Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2021 ranked KIIT 201-300 globally in its Impact Rankings 2021. KIIT has also ranked 86th globally in SDG 4 ‘Reduced Inequalities’ category. Times Higher Education has ranked KIIT 251-300 both in its Asia University Rankings 2021 and Emerging Economies University Rankings 2021. It has been awarded 5 Stars rating in 2021 by the prestigious QS, becoming the first QS 5 Stars Rated University in India, she added.

Prof. J. R. Mohanty, Registrar proposed the word of thanks. Aayush  Kumar, Basel Nassor and Sudhanshu Upadhyay won Founder's Gold Medals for their outstanding all round and academic performances. Similarly, 22 students were awarded Chancellor's Gold Medals, while 31 students got Vice Chancellor's Silver Medals. Nanibala Memorial Gold Medal, Shri Krushna Chandra Panda Memorial Gold Medal, P. About Selfless Orchestra 'Great Barrier'

Formed in 2018, Selfless Orchestra was a collaborative emergence of musicians from the creative community of Perth, Australia, born with the manifesto of creating spaces in which hope and despair co-exist, where audiences can be educated and inspired about issues of social and environmental justice through poetical musical performance.

Influenced by Post-Rock acts that fuse classical and contemporary styles, founding members Steven Alyian (Injured Ninja, Usurper of Modern Medicine, Doublethink Prism), Ray Grenfell (Last Quokka), Madeline Antoine and Jerome Turle (The Weapon Is Sound) quickly recruited musicians and artists to the ensemble, which combined live video projections with the music in a lineup that would evolve with every performance, donating proceeds of their gigs towards community causes.

Challenging conventions of traditional music in immersive shows that break the fourth wall, their first performance is called ‘Great Barrier,’ a composition designed to educate and empower audiences to become part of a movement to help protect Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. The first song from this performance ‘Eden is Lost’ was released in April 2019, followed by a full season of Performances at Perth’s Fringe Festival in 2020.

The full studio album of ‘Great Barrier,’ released on Perth imprint Stock Records takes the listener on a comprehensive journey that weaves orchestral strings, huge distorted guitars, haunting flutes, experimental percussion, whale song and more into a rich sonic tapestry. Featuring a vast array of musicians including members of the Perth Symphony Orchestra and legendary Perth Metal act Karnivool.

Expressing the beauty of the reef with the epic opening opus ‘Time is a Flower,’ the album delves into humanities complex relationship with this natural treasure through the drone and dirge of ‘False Bodies,’ sings the lament of the dying corals through the piano led ballad ‘Bleached,’ screams in fury and desperation at senseless governments and resource industries with ‘Beyond All Illusion’ and turns the despair into a glimmer of hope and resurrection with the uplifting ‘Eden is Lost.’

This seamless and expansive album is a powerful culmination of an array of talented musicians of a vast array of disciplines forming to become greater than their whole, recorded live in single studio takes with no editing, the raw and powerful performance of Selfless Orchestra’s Great Barrier is a uncompromising statement, a love letter to a natural wonder and a call to action to stand strong and protect that which is precious to us.

Witnessing enormous growth in building a community of content creators across the varying forms of art since its inception in 2011, Asia’s largest content creation festival, India Film Project marks its comeback this year with season 9. With an aim to encourage the budding talents and their enthusiasm for 8 years, this season will be a notch higher as the winning titles of 50-hour filmmaking challenge will be premiered across PVR Cinemas in the country and will also be televised on world’s premier youth brand, MTV.

With an increasing community of 6.5 million filmmakers and content creators coming together on 12th and 13th of October 2019 at Mehboob Studios, Bandra, Mumbai. This year more than 35000+ filmmakers are expected to participate from across 300+ cities, and 22+ countries making 1500+ short films over a weekend. Bollywood bigwigs Abhishek Chaubey, Pradeep Sarkar, Apurva Asrani, Bhavani Iyer, amongst the other have been brought on board to judge the series of challenges.
