In Main Yahaan Hoon song i've Never praised Preity Zinta enough as Zaara Hayat Khan where she spectacularly presented so deep yearning Zaara was having for Veer on the eve of her marriage.

Having such real time hallucination of Veer, of his gaze, voice, his fingers all over her body, his breath, his lips on her neck and most importantly his very presence in her mind - So Alive! 💥

The song itself a Masterpiece in terms of lyrics, music composition, singing.

Took me two tries to get through this one; the obsessive, stalker behavior of SRK's character really turned me off. But glad I stuck with it, the second half is better than the first.

One of the more cinematically interesting of SRK's movies, the style borders on surrealist. And the musical numbers are completely bonkers.

You know which movie had absolutely no business changing my life as a child? Traumatizing me in the middle of a movie theatre as a 7 year old barely understanding the language but understanding enough to rip me apart?

A movie that popped up in my Netflix and I decided to rewatch l and relive 20 year old trauma?

Fucking Kal Ho Na Ho.

Fucking SRK and his pretty eyes and his fucking Kinn Therapanyakul eyebrows and his weak broken heart that absolutely shattered and destroyed me as a 7 year old.

Ridiculous. That movie had no business traumatizing me that much then and now. Fuck that movie.

Rewatching Dil Se after so many years, I found myself uncovering layers I hadn’t fully grasped before. It’s incredible how time and life experience allow us to see things differently, to feel the depth and meaning that might have eluded us before.

When the movie first released in 1998, I was mesmerized by its soundtrack. A.R. Rahman’s music was haunting, soulful, and unlike anything I’d ever heard. Tracks like Jiya Jale and Satrangi Re were instant favorites, but Chaiyya Chaiyya stands out with its powerful lyrics and unforgettable setting on a moving train. The energy between Shahrukh Khan and Malaika Arora still captivates me. Over the years, the music has only grown more timeless, still evoking the same magic.

Dil Se is so much more than a love story—it’s an emotional journey that dives deep into the seven stages of love: attraction (Hubb), infatuation (Uns), love (Ishq), devotion (Aqeedat), worship (Ibadat), obsession (Junoon), and death (Maut). These stages are inspired by the Sufi concept of love. In Sufism, love is often seen as a journey of the soul toward the Divine, with each stage representing a deeper level of intensity and devotion. These stages mirror Amar’s journey and the transformation of his love for Meghna, blending romantic love with themes of spiritual longing, sacrifice, and transcendence. Mani Ratnam captures this progression with such subtlety and power that it lingers long after the film ends.

The recurring use of “Sitaron Se Aage Jahan Aur Bhi Hain” from Iqbal’s poetry adds another layer of beauty and depth. These words speak of longing, of reaching for something beyond the ordinary, of the infinite possibilities that lie ahead. As part of the haunting background score, it becomes the heartbeat of the film—a reminder of the larger-than-life emotions and the tragic inevitability of this love.
