Pre IVF Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive treatment in which the doctor inserts a thin, lighted tube into your uterus to examine the abnormalities. In certain cases, it is the finest technique to inspect your uterus, but is it always essential to have a hysteroscopy before IVF. Many gynecologists do hysteroscopy before IVF to check that the uterus cavity is normal and ready to accept embryos.
How is hysteroscopy performed?
Diagnostic hysteroscopy is a non-invasive treatment that may be done under general anesthesia or sedation. A telescope attached to a small tube is then pushed through your vagina and cervix into your uterine cavity. The surgeon rotates it around to inspect the uterine wall for anomalies such as fibroids, polyps, septa and scar tissue.
How is hysteroscopy used in the treatment of infertility?
Some hospitals undergo hysteroscopy on every woman before IVF, claiming that this is the best way to guarantee the uterine cavity is healthy. Hysteroscopy may be recommended to obtain a thorough look at the insides of the uterus, especially if you’ve had unsuccessful IVF cycles or repeated losses.
When to screen for Ovarian Cancer?
The researchers found that regular hysteroscopy prior to IVF is advised. There are less intrusive procedures, such as transvaginal ultrasound of the uterine cavity, that may be used to inspect the insides of a uterine cavity and only be followed up with a surgical hysteroscopy if a problem is identified.

Hey hello 🤗
I'm loving your fic...spitting image.
Thank you so much for sharing it with us...
It's such a unique idea and your characters are just... 😍
I can't wait for sirius and Harry bonding ofc.
I was just wondering if you are researching all this IVF stuff...or it's something related to your work?
TW: Infertility and IVF chat
It’s not related to my work but I’ve had personal experience with the subject of infertility and have had friends go through the IVF process (thankfully successfully!!)
So what happens in terms of Spitting Image is a blend of personal experience and research as laws and costs around IVF differ per country. Which was part of my reasoning for keeping it vague. (For example overseas you might get paid for sperm or egg donation but here it is a big no-no)
Here in NZ you can be covered on some level by publicly funded treatments however there are waiting lists and there are strict rules in place around it. And even privately you have to meet certain BMI requirements (don’t even get me started on that) before they will proceed with treatment. Regardless of public or private treatment it is a long and arduous process.
I’ve added some info from fertility associates NZ about 2024 costs (in NZD) below the cut. It’s often quite shocking for some people how much and how much $$$ can be involved, and bare in mind…. There is never guaranteed success.

Hysteroscopy
Introduction:
In the realm of assisted reproductive technologies, the significance of diagnostic precision cannot be overstated. Hysteroscopy, a medical procedure that allows for a thorough examination of the uterus, stands as a pivotal tool in the journey towards fertility. At Select IVF, a renowned fertility clinic committed to excellence, hysteroscopy is not just a diagnostic procedure; it is a gateway to personalized care and tailored treatments. This comprehensive guide aims to explore the intricacies of hysteroscopy, shedding light on its role at Select IVF and its relevance in the context of assisted reproduction.
Understanding Hysteroscopy:
Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that involves the insertion of a thin, lighted tube (hysteroscope) through the cervix into the uterus. This allows for a direct visual examination of the uterine cavity, enabling the diagnosis and treatment of various gynecological conditions. The precision of hysteroscopy makes it an invaluable tool in assessing and addressing factors that may impact fertility.
Hysteroscopy at Select IVF:
Select IVF, distinguished for its commitment to cutting-edge reproductive technologies, integrates hysteroscopy as a fundamental component of its diagnostic and therapeutic approach. The clinic’s emphasis on personalized care ensures that hysteroscopy is not merely a procedural step but a means to gather precise insights into each patient’s unique reproductive health.
1. Diagnostic Power of Hysteroscopy: Hysteroscopy provides a direct view of the uterine cavity, allowing for the identification of abnormalities such as polyps, fibroids, adhesions, or structural irregularities that might hinder fertility. This diagnostic precision forms the basis for tailored treatment plans.
2. Evaluation of Uterine Abnormalities: The detailed examination facilitated by hysteroscopy aids in the evaluation of uterine abnormalities that may contribute to infertility. Conditions like uterine septum or intrauterine adhesions can be accurately diagnosed and subsequently addressed.
3. Treatment of Uterine Conditions: Beyond diagnostics, hysteroscopy serves as a therapeutic tool. Select IVF utilizes hysteroscopic procedures to surgically correct identified uterine abnormalities, enhancing the chances of successful conception.
4. Pre-IVF Assessment: Hysteroscopy plays a crucial role in the pre-IVF assessment at Select IVF. By ensuring the optimal condition of the uterine cavity, hysteroscopy contributes to the success of in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures.
5. Management of Recurrent Pregnancy Loss: Recurrent pregnancy loss can be emotionally challenging. Hysteroscopy helps identify and address factors contributing to recurrent pregnancy loss, offering a path towards more successful future pregnancies.
6. Precision in Endometrial Evaluation: Hysteroscopy allows for meticulous evaluation of the endometrium, the inner lining of the uterus crucial for implantation. This precision is particularly valuable in cases where endometrial factors may impact fertility.
7. Enhanced Fertility Outcomes: Integrating hysteroscopy into fertility assessments enhances overall fertility outcomes. By addressing and rectifying uterine factors, Select IVF ensures that patients receive a comprehensive and effective approach to fertility treatment.
8. Minimally Invasive Nature: Hysteroscopy’s minimally invasive nature is a hallmark of its appeal at Select IVF. The procedure is typically performed on an outpatient basis, offering the advantages of reduced recovery time and minimal discomfort.
9. Patient-Centric Approach: At Select IVF, the integration of hysteroscopy is part of a patient-centric approach. The clinic prioritizes open communication, ensuring that patients are actively involved in understanding and deciding on their fertility treatment journey.
10. Continuous Innovation and Technological Integration: Select IVF’s commitment to excellence is reflected in its continuous innovation and integration of the latest technologies. The clinic ensures that hysteroscopy is performed using state-of-the-art equipment, optimizing the accuracy and effectiveness of the procedure.
Conclusion:
In the expansive landscape of assisted reproductive technologies, hysteroscopy emerges as a beacon of diagnostic precision and therapeutic efficacy. At Select IVF, the incorporation of hysteroscopy is not just a procedural step; it is a testament to the clinic’s commitment to personalized care and cutting-edge fertility treatments. COVID-19 has impacted their businesses as well. Logistical issues, managing patients with the disease, prioritizing patients with comorbidities and pre-existing conditions, and protecting public & hospital frontline workers from exposure to the COVID-19 infection are the major challenges faced by healthcare systems across the globe. One in six reproductive-aged couples experiences infertility, and many turn to treatments such as intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in vitro fertilization (IVF), which require in-person appointments to complete. In India, 30 lakh people seek infertility treatment every year, but only 5 lakh people undergo IVF/intrauterine insemination (IUI) procedures. During the COVID-19 pandemic, a 90% drop was observed in the number of people undergoing IVF cycles. The spread of COVID-19 has not only impacted fertility clinics owing to the cancellation of IVF treatments but has also impacted fertility decisions among couples who were opting for IVF treatment before the pandemic.
The rise in number of fertility clinics to support the market growth during the forecast period.
Significant rise in number of fertility clinics, coupled with the decline in the fertility rate across the globe. Along with this growing focus of players and government towards the launching and acquiring new fertility centers across the globe is likely to contribute towards the growth of the segment. The expansion of fertility clinics equipped with advanced technology is anticipated to increase the accessibility of infertility treatment devices among infertile couples.

Procedures to Perform IVF Successfully - Medserg Health
It can be both exciting and nerve-wracking to begin the in vitro fertilization (IVF) process. IVF has only ever been used when other forms of reproductive treatment have failed. You could have spent several months trying to get pregnant. or, more probably, years. This, however, is not always the case. Sometimes, doctors recommend starting with IVF treatment in India.
In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a complicated set of treatments intended to improve fertility, avoid genetic issues, and help in child conception.
In IVF, mature eggs are removed from ovaries and fertilized in a laboratory using sperm. The fertilized eggs are then transferred to a uterus. IVF cycles are completed in approximately 3 weeks. Sometimes these steps are split into different parts and the process can take longer.
What is an IVF?
A type of assisted reproductive technology (ART) known as in vitro fertilization (IVF) involves the fertilization of sperm and eggs outside of the human body. IVF is a challenging procedure that requires taking eggs out of the ovaries and manually mixing sperm and eggs in a lab to fertilize the eggs. The fertilized egg, which is now known as an embryo, is implanted inside a uterus a few days after fertilization. When this embryo embeds itself in the uterine wall, pregnancy occurs.
The most successful type of assisted reproductive technology is IVF in India. The process is possible with the use of the couple’s own sperm and eggs. A known or unknown donor’s eggs, sperm, or embryos may also be used during IVF. A gestational carrier, a woman who has had an embryo implanted in her uterus, may occasionally be employed.
IVF success rates in India are influenced by a variety of variables, including your age and the underlying reason for your infertility. IVF can also be costly, intrusive, and time-consuming. IVF can lead to pregnancy with more than one fetus if more than one embryo is placed in the uterus (multiple pregnancies).
Why IVF is Performed?
IVF in India is chosen by people for a variety of reasons, such as infertility problems or when one couple has a pre-existing medical condition. Some people will try IVF if other fertility treatments haven’t worked for them or if they’re at an advanced maternal age. IVF is an additional reproductive option for same-sex couples or individuals who want to become parents on their own. IVF is a possibility if you or your partner has:
Fallopian tubes that are blocked or damaged.
Low sperm count or additional sperm defects.
Other ovarian disorders, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
Uterine fibroids.
Other problems in the uterus.
The possibility of passing on a genetic disorder or disease.
Unexplained infertility
Are using an egg donor or a gestational surrogate
What steps do you take to get ready for IVF treatment?
You must undergo fertility tests and a comprehensive physical examination before beginning IVF treatment. Also, your partner will be examined and tested. You’ll go through the following steps of the process, including:
IVF counseling (meet with healthcare providers to discuss the details of the IVF process).
Mammography, current Pap test, and a uterine exam (if over 40).
A semen analysis.
Screening for infectious diseases and STIs (sexually transmitted infections).
Tests for blood and urine, as well as ovarian reserve testing
Instructions for administering fertility medications
Screening for genetic carriers.
Complete consent forms.
Evaluation of the uterine cavity using saline-infused sonography (SIS) or hysteroscopy.
You should begin taking folic acid supplements at least three months before to embryo transfer, as directed by your doctor. To Know more - Best IVF doctors in India - Medserg Health

“This infertility treatment, I like it! ANOTHER!”
IVF Round 2 - Opening Night: January 27, 2019.
Okay, perhaps ‘like it’ is a strong description to how we feel towards IVF. But I digress.
Today was the hysteroscopy procedure. Dr. M went in with a camera and got an up close and personal visual of the inside of my uterus.
There were no:
fibroids ✔️
polyps ✔️
adhesions ✔️
of any kind!
With passing this test we are officially on the books to proceed with our next IVF (utilizing ICSI) procedure in January 2019.
Can you believe it!?
We have passed every pre-treatment exam.
My body is in the best shape it possibly can be for stimulation, retrieval, embryo transfer, and pregnancy!
Stephen’s surgery earlier this summer was a massive success. With this timeline for IVF we are hitting the optimal time for treatment as far as recovery and results go for him.
Our final hurdle is cost. $$$
I have placed a call with the company that does treatment bundles and loans to acquire them through our clinic. Hopefully we can begin that process soon! (You can’t be approved any further than 30 days prior to your start date if my information from 2017 is still relevant).
But, I choose to be hopeful and committed to our start date.
We fit every pre-requisite they make publicly available before approval. With flying colors, even! So, fingers and toes crossed they love our application and we can move forward.
Project BabyRussell is nearly full-steam ahead! Again!
Here’s some fun food for thought. I have a thing for numbers. I can’t quite explain it... but some numbers bring me joy, and some numbers bring me anxiety.
- January 27th. My birthday is August 27th. While odd numbers grind my gears a majority of the time I love the number 27. It’s my birthday! It has to be lucky - it’s the lucky day that blessed you all with me. (*ba dum tss*)
- This date will be during our 50th cycle trying to get pregnant. FIFTY. That number gives me the happy tingles. It’s an even number. It’s also the first number in a new “set.” And it’s half of 100. Like I said... I can’t explain my weird connection to numbers, but 50 is one of my favorite numbers.
