Mad Max Timeline

(Note: this is long so sorry. Mostly revolves around Immortan Joe, Bullet Farmer & People Eater from 1965 to 2024. Furiosa is brought up in 2000, with others mentioned but not in great detail)

1965 - The Start of The End, beginning with world wars. Joe & Kal (ages 19 & 18) are already in the military (maybe they quickly climbed the ranks because of the growing disasters and deaths piling up?). Richard (age 20) continues his accounting internship in a government organization (which pays because they’re desperate for workers)

1970 - Economies have almost entirely collapsed. Richard loses his job when the organization turns to rubble, but finds work in the military field (counting supplies, deaths, new soldiers) (job doesn’t offer cash but food and shelter). Joe and Kal begin forming a team for when the world ends while in the military

1975 - The final year of the “old world”. all major/federal governments and organizations are dissolved and broken apart. Joe and most of his military mates leave to the desert for a new beginning. Richard joins a group of military men from the field he worked in, and they stay near one of the major cities.

1976 - Richard’s military group leaves the city when things get too crazy. They drift from place to place until finding a somewhat normal town that doesn’t have much defenses

1979 - first mad max film takes places. There’s some attempt at structure and order based on past structures. Richard’s military group has settled in the town and, despite the occasional outsiders trying to take over, they’re in a good place compared to everywhere else. Richard isn’t a big fan though, as he doesn’t have much say in most matters. He and some others try to intimidate their way into higher roles, but it fails and they’re kicked out. Now without a reliable source of food and shelter, Richard and the men who followed him begin their journey elsewhere. Joe has assembled more of his army as they travel around

1981 - Second mad max film takes place. The decline of new resources becomes more apparent. Richard’s group is attacked and taken prisoner by some biker gang (not in relation to the ones in the movies). They are brought to Bartertown and sold off, with Richard staying in the town as some clerk/low level employee. Joe begins searching for a more permanent residence than just being nomads forever

1982 - Richard builds some connections and pays his way out of being a slave. He decides to stay in Bartertown and finds work with someone with a lot of influence and some connection with Auntie Entity. He learns more about how Bartertown works and finds out about the underground pig farm. He finds a way to work at the farm (counting, managing ect) and gets the name Warthog (he’s called this a few times before it becomes his ‘official’ name)

1983 - Richard climbs the social ladder and holds enough influence to carry out his secret pig-stealing scheme without getting caught/punished

1985 - Third mad max film takes place. Richard’s scheme is destroyed and he’s later caught when things cool down, resulting in him getting hard labor as punishment (he broke some deals along that way so he had to face the wheel) until he persuades a group of merchants to take him with them. Months later the group finds an aquifer and makes trade for water, later going to the oil refinery for trade but it doesn’t end well.

1986 - Richard’s group is attacked shortly after leaving the aquifer by Joe’s army with Richard being the only survivor. He tells them ab the aquifer and on their way they go. Long story short, Joe takes over and now controls the aquifer. The Citadel is created. Richard gets a high position as The People Eater (he chooses this name over Warthog cause it sounds cooler; he also never tells anyone what his old name was) and works next to Joe to calculate gains and loses and crap. A deal is made with the people at the oil refinery to continue trade for oil and water

1987 - The Citadel is more established with a water system built in for gardening and there’s constant construction for the “mechanic workshop/garage/mechanic lair”. Later on, Joe takes over the oil refinery and The Painter (the old guardian of Gastown in the Furiosa movie) is appointed to look over the refinery. The abandoned lead mine is taken over and slowly set up for potential resources. Joe (age 41) officially begins his ‘search’ for an heir

1988 - Corpus Colossus is born, being the first offspring to survive infancy. Joe is disappointed and considers Corpus not fit as an heir. The “wive vault” is built shortly after in an attempt for healthier offspring, and from that point forward any child with very visible disabilities are killed no matter what

1989 - The Bullet Farm is complete and ready for production, with Kal being appointed as The Bullet Farmer. He now lives at the farm (he previously visited during its renovation and stayed at the Citadel)

1993 - Scabrous Scrotus is born

1998 - Rictus Erectus is born

2000 - Furiosa is born in The Green Place

2007 - Furiosa is taken from The Green Place by a group of scavengers. Her mother goes after and ties to save her, killing the scavengers but getting fatally wounded. Furiosa loses her arm in the process, and tries to get back to The Green Place but passes out from blood loss. She is found by some nomads and taken to their camp, where they question her but get no answers. The tribe is kind enough to her, but she doesn’t trust them to help her. She stays with them and learns medicine, first aid and such but still looks for ways to find The Green Place. She is given a prosthetic but it’s only a hook and fits poorly

2008 - Furiosa is still with the tribe until they are attacked by another group. She and some others are captured and taken as slaves, working to repair the insides of the large vehicles the group has (think Victorian children working in a factory, but the factory is a monster truck). The group travels to a settlement (similar to Bartertown) where she escapes. She stays in the town for a bit before running into a tribe of black thumbs. She finds a way to join them and they leave the settlement. She is given a more functioning prosthetic but it’s not the best and is only really used to work on vehicles (like a swiss army knife). Later, during their travels they meet Dementus and his horde. Dementus orders them to join or die. They join, with Dementus taking Furiosa in as his ward and treats her like a daughter

2010 - Gastown is attacked and infiltrated by Dementus. The Citadel sends back-up but Dementus takes over Gastown and kills The Painter. A negotiation is made where Dementus will control Gastown and be part of the triumvirate, while Joe gets The Organic Mechanic and Furiosa (age 10). However, Dementus wants a report of how Furiosa is doing (he’s weirdly protective like that) and Joe reluctantly agrees. Furiosa is taken to the “wive vault” shortly after and her prosthetic is taken away. Miss Giddy looks after her and makes sure she feels ok and protected

2011 - Furiosa escapes the vault. There’s a whole search for her but she hides herself among the population in & around the Citadel, using numerous pathways and tunnels to get anywhere while disguising as a wretched (I see the Citadel being structured like an ant colony with some paths looping around or leading to nowhere). Joe gives up a few months later and increases the security of the value. He sends fake reports to Dementus so he doesn’t freak out

2013 - Furiosa becomes an assistant mechanic while in disguise, and with her previous knowledge of vehicles she quickly becomes a black thumb, though her lack of a proper arm prosthetic keeps her from doing much. Dementus starts making demands for more resources and workers, as the people that were already there are revolting and he cannot kill them without losing a lot of labor

2016 - Furiosa is promoted as a war rig driver, with Praetorian Jack teaching her what to expect on the road. They slowly become friends and share their stories, offering comfort in a hopeless world (Furiosa begins to lose hope of ever finding The Green Place). With Jack’s influence and help, she is able to get a well-made prosthetic. Dementus is more demanding and starts to hold off supplies for The Bullet Farm. Joe has to intervene before The Bullet Farmer starts sending out war parties. The issue gets resolved but tensions remain high

2017 - Furiosa reveals who she really is to Jack and they begin planning an escape. At night they take turns scouting the Citadel and finding out what they can about the surrounding areas, they trade things for information with the Wretched and when they go to The Bullet Farm (they don’t try anything at Gastown because people there are too tense and nervous under Dementus’ rule; a “get-in-get-out” attitude when they’re there). With what they gather, Furiosa is able figure out where the Green Place might be (she was taught how to find her way home when she was around 5, having to memorize the land and the structures around them)

2018 - Dementus finds out that Furiosa has been missing for years and goes ape shit. He demands more and stops production of guzzoline, or keeps it to himself and wastes some of it as a show. Joe is pissed and threatens him but Dementus is too crackers to listen. With the Citadel on edge, people are more watchful and curious when they find Furiosa and Jack preparing a hidden vehicle with a lot of stolen supplies. They are interrogated and Furiosa’s identity is revealed. She is brought to Joe, who then calls Dementus to see her and play it off as if she wasn’t gone, hopefully stopping his whole outburst. Dementus does not recognize Furiosa, believing she is some stand-in random. Dementus leaves, Jack is killed for not revealing her himself, and Furiosa is put back in the vault and loses her prosthetic again. This time Miss Giddy offers her a make-shift one and tries to comfort her. Furiosa loses all hope at this point

2019 - Dementus attacks and takes over The Bullet Farm while The Farmer is at the Citadel. Joe declares war and readies the war boys. In the vault, Furiosa is found to be infertile. Joe is about to kill her for this, as well as making the Dementus problem worse, but she makes a case for herself. She is a black thumb, knows how to work and run a war rig, and will fight for The Immortan Joe and work for him for the rest of her life. Joe allows this, and she is let out of the vault. 40-day war occurs, and Dementus is killed. The People Eater is appointed as the new guardian of Gastown, with Scrotus being sent there to help rule and keep the workers under control. The Bullet Farmer is tasked with improving the security of The Farm and Gastown, and Furiosa is the new imperator

2022 - The events in the Mad Max game takes place. Scrotus (age 29) is killed and Gastown has less defenses. Furious makes more turns between the settlements and starts planning her escape again (to where, she isn’t sure anymore). She is also appointed as the new guard of the vault because Joe is feeling age get to him and has become paranoid about something happening to the wives. Furiosa stays guard and sometimes helps Miss Giddy teach the girls about first aid and such, but mostly keeps her distance.

2023 - The wives learn of Furiosa’s story, and ask for her help. They’re confused but inspired by her, and want to leave the Citadel for good. Furiosa struggles to find hope in helping them, let alone actually leaving herself. Miss Giddy (whose known Furiosa since she first appeared in the vault) talks with her and gives her the support that she’s missed since Jack died. Furiosa chooses to help them, and looks to The Green Place for hope

2024 - Mad Max Fury Road takes place. Immortan Joe (age 78), The Bullet Farmer & People Eater (ages 77 & 79), and Rictus (age 26) are killed. Furiosa and the wives take the Citadel
