CELEBRATION SALE FROM NOV 1st TO NOV 30th!

To celebrate becoming a full-time artist I decided to host a sale on Etsy! Everything except my original paintings and digital downloads is 25% off the whole month.

I have also added a few new items to the shop, go check them out!

SHIPPING When ordering multiple items and/or adding international tracking the shipping costs may accumulate weirdly due to how Etsy calculates the costs. If you end up with an abnormally large shipping cost feel free to:

contact me on Etsy (makes things a lot easier to have all correspondence in once place)

include your phone number in the message field when placing an order and write "Please review the shipping costs"

This way I can check if I can find a cheaper deal with another courier and refund any excess postages to you. I use the Finnish postal service by default. but other couriers require a phone number which is something Etsy doesn't collect automatically, hence the problem. The phone number is for the courier's use only.

HOLIDAY SHOPPING

If you are ordering holiday gifts please do so as early as possible. I cannot guarantee that orders placed in the end of November can make it before the holidays. International shipping is a nightmare this time of the year and shipping times may be up to 1-2 weeks longer than usual.

The order form is anonymous and confidential. I will not collect your email address. You do not need to give me your name. Nobody else will see the results of this form except for me. I will not release any address-related information. Your privacy matters!

Stickers will be mailed in an envelope with a security-printed lining. The outside of the envelope will only have the mailing addresses and postage stamp(s). 

I can only mail up to 20 small stickers and a handful of larger stickers to addresses in the United States. I am constrained by USPS envelope weight and thickness limits, as well as postage costs.

If you are outside the US, you might still be able to get stickers! International orders will have to be fully funded and pre-approved by me on a case-by-case basis. USPS has published which countries and regions restrict what items in a document here, organized by region. Email me at contactwomanforwomen@gmail.com with your Country, City, and Zip Code so I can calculate shipping costs and see if a sticker order is feasible. If it is, I will email you back with the minimum contribution to fund your order and permission to fill this form out. 

This is a pay-what-you-can model, but funded orders may be prioritized if supplies are running low. Please pay what you can, since this project requires around $1.75-$2.00 dollars an order to keep running. Contributions are done via Amazon e-gift card, which offers anonymity, unlike PayPal or Venmo.

Orders will be mailed once a week on weekends. Shipping time may vary. 

Reorders are welcome, but please order only once every two weeks!

hey, so I'm trying to figure out what places would be good to sell my own art at, and I'm wondering- what has been your experience with selling on etsy? I've heard mixed reviews from people, and I want to know your perspective as an etsy seller.

etsy is not perfect but i think it gets a little more shit than it deserves, i've thought about opening my own website but generally i'm actually pretty okay with the services i get on etsy compared to what it costs so i'm just gonna make a subjective pros/cons list for you under the cut (because its loooong)

oh and if anyone else has experience selling on etsy and would like to add their two cents in the replies/reblogs please do!

Pros

⭐ The search function - this is etsy's biggest selling point. it already has a dedicated userbase of millions of people and a search feature to help them find your shop, which takes a lot of the load of marketing off your shoulders, and marketing is a huge factor for pushing sales. i am not good at marketing and a lot of my sales just come from people searching my stuff up lol

⭐ Purchase protection program - if USPS loses or damages your package, you file a missing package report and they confirm they don't know where it is, Etsy will refund your buyers order out of their own pocket (under $250). this is my favorite etsy feature because USPS likes to eat packages every now and again. delicious keychains. if you had your own storefront, you'd just have to replace the order yourself.

⭐ Share & Save program - every time someone makes an order on your shop through a special Share & Save link, etsy will refund you 4% of the fees. it's a nice perk to doing some of your own marketing and it helps combat the moderately high etsy fees!

Trackable letter mail - selling stickers but think it's insane to charge $4 shipping? you can buy letter mail labels for about the rate of regular postage, which is like .65c. this tracking is done through etsy though so you can't track with usps, but it does give customers a little peace of mind. this only works in the 50 US states though.

Customs forms built into your shipping label - shipping internationally is a nightmare. etsy makes it easy though, generating everything you need to ship internationally on one label that you just have to sign and date and slap on your package like normal. for some countries they will actually just have your package sent to a domestic facility where they literally do all that for you. this is miles easier than having to do all that paperwork yourself.

buy shipping labels directly from etsy - related point, and just what it says on the tin. when you fulfill an order, you can buy your labels right there on Etsy so you don't have to mess around with a third party website. it comes out of your sale funds so you don't need to charge a card or a bank account or anything.

star seller program - some people say this is completely useless but i actually disagree! it's incredibly easy to earn this badge, and it lets buyers know you've got some of the best products, shipping, and customer service around. it helps you stand out from some of the more... questionable shops on the website.

sales tax - they remit sales tax for you. i don't think any of the other online platforms similar to etsy do this but i could be wrong. doing any kind of taxes sucks so i consider it a perk if they do it for you.

website promotions - every now and again etsy likes to host sales out of their own pocket. you get all the perks of having a sale without eating into ur profit margin. HUGE sale booster

generally the site is just very easy to learn and use and it's very beginner and dumbass friendly. i say this as a former beginner and current dumbass 👍

Cons

❌ the fees. oogh the fees. they claim it's just a 6.5% fee per sale, but on top of that you have to pay .20c automatically for every individual item you sell, plus there are processing fees (3% + .25c) that apply both to the item you sold AND the cost of shipping. i think it comes out to like 10% total in fees on average @ > @

❌ but wait, there's more fees! if you make more than $10k in sales a year (very easy number to hit actually) you are forced to participate in offsite ads, which i believe takes 15% of your total sale on top of the fees in the previous point. these kinds of sales are not as common as you'd think, but it's still annoying having a couple bucks shaved off your profits a few times a month because of them.

corporate bullshit - etsy is like renting a space in a mall. you don't own your lot, nor the mall itself, so if upper management decides to make any stupid ass decisions, you just have to deal with it or pick up and move. if they decide to raise fees again, you just gotta Deal. you are a little bit helpless on this website unfortunately

the push for discounts - etsy is constantly shoving it in your face that they want you to do discounts. they want you to have free shipping on orders over $35, they want you to do 25% off or more on sales, they want you to have returning customer discounts and abandoned cart discounts and 'you recently favorited this item' discounts - but you already have to compete with the steep fees, and when a customer gets free shipping, you still owe USPS that $4-ish bucks to send the package. you don't have to do any of this, but they do reward participating shops by favoring them in the algorithm and search results, so you can feel like you're missing out.

there aren't as many cons imo but they Are steeper cons. generally etsy is very beginner friendly and easy to get into and set up, and in spite of everything i do actually recommend everyone looking to get into online retail start on etsy and perhaps move to other platforms in the future. plus, you can combat all the fees by just... making your prices a dollar or two higher than you initially wanted to, and using your 'save and share' link as frequently as possible. the fees are a little bit much, but you have to think about what you get in exchange:

the search is invaluable, you could argue the fees are partially a marketing budget lmao. if you have a private website you alone have to push traffic to your website, and not as many people know about things like shopify and bigcartel so they might not be as trusting putting their card details into it. i miss out on a lot of REALLY COOL STUFF because artists only advertise on instagram and i don't hear about them, meanwhile if i want some cool owl house stuff i can literally just search that in etsy and find a lot of TOH stuff super easily. i cannot highlight enough how GOOD the search function is, especially in this day and age where social media like instagram and twitter will blacklist your posts if you say words like 'shop' or 'sale' and now nobody can find your stuff in that website's search either. its very hard to do your own marketing now a days :(

being able to refund customer's lost orders out of the company's pocket is such a nice thing to fall back on if you have to and worth its weight in fees. USPS lost like... four or five packages of mine in december. that's like $100 or more worth of stuff that Etsy Covered Completely, and a lot of the times the customer will take that refund to make their order again. don't abuse this system, make sure you check with usps that the package is actually Gone, but it's a godsend when you don't make billions of dollars and eating the cost of lost orders would otherwise sting a bit.

if etsy did not make international shipping easy i simply would not ship anywhere but the US to be honest. shipping to europe is still a headache though but that's because europe is stupid

that's everything i can think of, but tl;dr yes please open an etsy 👍 i recommend it completely in spite of everything

Okay, I’m taking the plunge because I’m broke AF and I honestly cannon cope any more. So, I’m going to start taking commissions for pet portraits.

You’ll need to send me a photo (or several) of your pet in the pose in which you want them painted. Ideally one that is clear and well lit, with as few things obscuring the view of your pet as possible, eg cushions, blankets, unless you specifically want it included, in which case, let me know. That may take longer and cost extra, depending on how complicated it is to paint.

It should take me around 2 weeks to complete a portrait before sending it. I’ll update with any changes, as this is something I’m doing alongside my fulltime job (which by God doesn’t pay me nearly enough), but I’ll do my best to keep it within that time frame.

Halo: Reach Noble-6 B312 TransFur plush!

We’re halo fans from China, and it comes to us that we should call out to the community to see if anyone wants those cute N6 plushies like we do!  This non-profit project is now gathering more lovers, as we want to order plushies as a group, and more people joining can make the price even lower!

*sorry for the bad translation btw, if these information seemed confusing you can reach me and I will try to explain these details, my mail and our groupchat both at the end of this article!

Price: There will be prototyping fee which will be spread equally (plushies need to be prototyped mutipule times maybe, for we want them to be PERFECTLY CUTE). If the number of participants reaches 50, the price will be around 150-200CNY. Now we have 30 people in the group currently interested in ordering. But with less than 50 person the price will increase to 200+CNY, so join us pls pls <3 (For overseas postage and its associated costs, we are looking at what we can do to reduce the cost of postage! Height: 30cm (not counting in heights of tail and ears), a frame/joist will be inserted so N6 can be positioned as you want them to ;3

Manufacturing techniques used (might have slight changes afterward): embroidery, patchwork (as shown in the following pic, fabric using 5-6mm faux rabbit fur)

“Vending” method: fill the spread sheet in our group chat, then launch a taobao link to collect deposit first (will not refund unless the project is terminated). After deposit collected, we will start prototyping till we get perfectly cute N6 plush!! Commitment to you all that related expenses will be fully disclosed.

Additional: When reaching 40 people and above, the remaining plushies will be kept safe by the starters of our project (so no worries! Every N6 plush will find their home <3) If our group reach 50 people, there will also be special gifts!! (like squishies, noble team charms!)

Attention Website Design People

I would really like to look at moving away from Etsy for my shop and towards having my own website- however, my experiment with using Wix (took a day off my normal job, got very confused and frustrated, gave up and got a refund) did not go to plan.

Are you a website designer or do you know a good one? Ideally I want to have the same functionality as Etsy (printing postage labels being the most useful thing that they do very well, also taking payment via debit, credit and paypal, variations for size/colour in listings and inventory management)

Lost in Shipping?

Be warned, a bit of a rant ahead...

About a month ago, I found a seller selling the War Story Captain Elsa head separately, and I pounced on it. I like some pieces from the fullset outfit, but buying just the head would have saved me a good bit of coin, which is appreciated since she would have been customized into one of my 1/6 action figure elf crew. Unfortunately, it's been in a... shipping limbo. It hasn't been lost as much as "effectively, probably, lost."

It went through customs and Chicago just fine, and then took a detour to Pontiac, Michigan and... went radio silent. For a long time. Can't have nothing in Detroit, I guess. I put in a missing parcel request and just... waited. Eventually I got a very unpleasant update:

"The package associated with this tracking number did not have proper postage applied and will not be delivered. You are encouraged to contact the sender/merchant to seek reshipment, refund or other available recourse."

This is... the first time I ever got that notification. I contacted my post office and they said they would let Pontiac know that, if necessary, I would be willing to pay the overdue postage at delivery at the post office, but they couldn't guarantee anything, especially if it ends up being used in a case against the shipper (in case said person was known for not paying correct postage). I quickly followed up with the seller and I was told the following:

"hello, friend, just talked with the aliexpress carrier Cainiao, they reply as following : Due to USPS system issues, the deduction was not successful. USPS is arranging for transfer and delivery. Please inform the consumer that there is no need to pay postage and wait patiently for the package to be delivered [...] and, friend, if till Oct 21th,you still haven't received the package, you can open up an haven't received case for it"

...Unfortunately, there was been NO movement on the package, so I don't think the package will show up. I guess tomorrow I can file for my refund but it really, really sucks that this head will (probably) never be arriving. There was only one other seller I found find selling her head and it's out of stock now too, well before I noticed the delivery issues, so it looks like I'm kind of shit out of luck and I'll have to probably buy the full figure anyways if I really want this sculpt. She's widely avaliable at least but this is a real kick in the teeth, I would have much rather paid $50 for a sculpt rather than $200 for the whole figure with an outfit that only a few select pieces would I utilize well. If she had the BBK Pirate outfit, I wouldn't complain since honestly, I could use a lot of those pieces really well... I should be getting my refund without any problems, and the seller has been nice so far with this issue, but this has been really disappointing.

Once available in shop:

"One Korvo Charm~ AND One Terry Charm~

(You will get the 2 charms, if you increase your quantity it will go to 4 and so on) Korvo's has blue liquid inside and Terry's has green! In the example you can see the white version that people use.

The images are mock ups of plastic milk shaker charms. The logos are semi transparent and you can see their character colors inside! Their faces are on the front, with fake barcodes and nutrition info on the back. They are key-chains and will fit in the palm of your hand. They can not be opened and are not edible.

For a limited time we will be in pre-order period where you can purchase the two charms but their production date is not set yet. Depending on how many orders are placed, if we don't make the production quota by April 30th, you will simply be refunded and no charms will be produced.

However, until April 30th, as this is for pre-orders to enable the larger shipment, orders can not be cancelled or refunded once placed.

IF the production quota is met, then you will be shipped your two charms by April 30th (depending on postage speed this may vary) and will get a tracking number. Due to this item containing liquid, overseas shipment is more tricky, if the quota is met then overseas orders will open.

-What's the quota we need to reach? 100 orders in total. I'm talking to suppliers to see about any flexibility as we move forward.

-Can I get ONLY Korvo or ONLY Terry? Unfortunately not right now, they are only being pre-ordered as a set.

-What exactly is inside? The colored liquid inside is usually baby oil. When you shake it, it usually has a zero gravity effect or air bubbles to admire." (Old design has been scrapped)
