Due to their QUICKLY dwindling numbers it is perhaps not NESSECARY to evaluate the Pokemon of AREA ZERO for the PAIN index in that no ONE will have to DEAL with an ENCOUTER with one... at the SAME time, it means I'm RUNNING out of time to RECORD data on them before they're ALL gone, and it SEEMS this was information MEANT to be left unknown. That doesn't SEEM right. To just let LIVING creatures go quietly into the NIGHT with no recording, no acknowledgement, not even a whisper...
NOT my usual AREA of reporting, but the IRON VALIANT is FAIRY/FIGHTING, so far as I can tell from its RESPONSE to attacks. It likes ELECTRICITY, strangely. It's shown no HOSTILITY towards PORT, my Rotom. This has made OBSERVING it easier.
It's been VERY hostile to the "ROARING MOON" specimen found, so I have not been able to RATE it yet as the two keep FIGHTING. It shows MUCH hostility towards PORT, but little towards FATE, my Lampent. I think it likes the LIGHT of the flame. IRON VALIANT seems to have the TYPE advantage, the ROARING MOON is certainly DRAGON type, at least.
#not spapi#Port the Rotom#Fate the Lampent#(ooc: should i tag the area zero stuff with 'plot' or something? ik not everyone's hear for it but its fun to write.)#(ooc: also going to start tagging mentions of Mike's pokemon by name and species so I dont have to say their species everytime)

Requests are open according to ask box??? Wonderful, an idea hit me earlier while I was at work. Remember the pokevillian sibling meeting the twins post? What about big brother Cyrus meeting N and/or Guzma?
Me thinks Cyrus would approve of his little sibling dating N. The only hang up is Cyrus would probably worry about N's connection to Team Plasma and how that might affect his lil sib (not that Cyrus can say much). Also, Cyrus would probably be awed/confused by how N could have spent so much of his life angry at world (much like Cyrus has), but managed to remain spirited in a gentle and outwardly kind way. I wonder if Cyrus would tell N about the Rotom he used to be friends with.
That said, Cyrus probably wouldn't like Guzma (at first, it could get better but I don't think they'd be close), as loud, vulgar and destructive as he is. And again, big bro Cyrus would be concerned over his lil sib being with a villian. But Cyrus would learn that Guzma has a similar past to him and his little sib i.e. shitty parents and feeling unloved and inadequet, furthermore, he'd learn Team Skull is just a bunch of kids who have no one else trying to get by. Then Cyrus would respect Guz enough to give his blessing, but their would probably still be some shovel talk.
High Five Anon, off anon
djsjdjs got to really give Cyrus an unwanted friend in Colress
cw: older brother Cyrus,
🌿N👑
🟢 Cyrus was not sure how he felt as you spoke about this boyfriend you had met overseas in Unova. Mostly as you had vanished there during his… Certain period with a certain legendary. He understood your reasons as to why. It would be difficult handling the baggage he left you with. It was not that he cared too much as to whom you decided to take up as a partner, so long as there was no abuse of any kind going on in the relationship.
🟢 His visit with you after narrowly escaping custody, thanks to Cynthia believing he deserved a second chance and had learnt from his failed attempt to create his perfect world. Unova held a different air than Sinnoh, he immediately noticed. Busy, modern, towering. Much like Jubilife. You eagerly rushed off the boat in the port to a green-haired man, who stood kneeling and petting a small feline pokemon.
🟢 This must be him. N. Cyrus first wondered what sort of name that was, but it seemed to be apt for how he appeared. Long, wily hair and a strange feeling. Cyrus recalled his face from an article he had read on his trip over. His brow line narrowed. “King of Team Plasma…” the article had unmistakably called him. An organisation so similar yet different from his own, Team Plasma. They were acting as pokemon advocacy group but in actuality had dark intentions. He swallowed.
🟢 N smiled at him with gentle innocence that screamed ignorance of the real world. He froze. You already had yourself nuzzled against his side with a pleased expression. How did he handle this? It felt strange. Nothing malicious or cruel seemed to ruminate from the man. It felt odd for someone in charge of a team that seemed to forcibly separate pokemon and people.
🟢 After he bluntly demanded an explanation, you told him about how N had a rough upbringing, having been left to fend for himself among pokemon in the forest until Ghetsis took him in and raised him to take on the role in his plans for world domination. Cyrus felt a bit taken aback by such a situation, but ultimately understood that N never really had such intentions as he had. The green-haired man looked a bit uncomfortable with the discussion. Cyrus was polite enough to drop it for now, at least until he had a moment alone with you.
🟢 Cyrus finds himself unable to worry about your relationship with N, as he can that he has no bad intents. He only wants to help abused pokemon and find a place for himself in this world. Cyrus almost envies his ability to search in such a manner. There are worries about his connection to Team Plasma and whether or not they may attempt to attack you due to your relationship with him, but he ultimately decides to trust in your ability to handle yourself. Of course, if they did try anything, Cyrus would pull some of his connections to help you.
🟢 Ultimately, he accepts your relationship with N and gives him his mark of approval with a polite handshake. N proceeds to tell him that his Weavile missed him while he was gone, which makes everything more confusing. Cyrus is back to being unsure about this green man, but now wants to about his odd ability. (They have a long talk, and you begin to worry Cyrus is stealing your boyfriend. N manages to drag out how much Cyrus secretly cares for his pokemon, despite how he tries to play apathetic.)
💀Guzma🕶
□ Cyrus had flown out to Alola after his return from the Distortion World and subsequent readjustment and questioning. It felt strange to leave such an oddly dark world and head to somewhere sunny. In fact, the brightness of it all brought on distant feelings in his mind to youthful days in Sunnyshore. He truly did not care for the boyfriend you mentioned, more interested in seeing you in person after so long.
□ The island itself had a feel not that different from his business trips to Johto. He felt curious as he stood around near the restaurant you mentioned to him. A few locals wanted him about some troubled youths that were known for snatching pokemon. He moved to intercept the road when he noticed your approach with a troublesome looking guy.
□ Guzma, he recalled the name you had told him over the phone. Apparently, you met him when you got out of Sinnoh after he… did what he had done. He was someone you instantly connected to, you had claimed. Something about him harkened his mind back to the troubled youths. Bleached white hair with darkened streaks were obvious in his hair, and something about him just screamed problematic. He obviously was a bit stunned at the sight of Cyrus, too.
□ “Hey, man, nice to meet ya',” he held his hand out to Cyrus, but the twenty-seven year old hesitated to take it. The shot a look at him, and he finally moved to shake his hand. He finally questioned the strange amulet that he was wearing, which caused Guzma to chuckle. “Nothing you need to worry about, old man,” he told him. You could obviously tell there was a rising intensity between the two.
□ Cyrus immediately requested to speak with you alone, which you granted. There was little surprise to you when he demanded to know what was up with Guzma. You tried to explain that he may or may not have a group of troubled teens and young adults that hung out in an abandoned town. This, naturally, caused Cyrus to worry about your safety. Team Galactic was orangised and neat, not whatever Team Skull could be considered. Even after explaining their shared experiences of distinct and somewhat cruel parents, Cyrus could only internally panic. This was his fault for committing his actions.
□ The blue-haired man glared at your boyfriend, slightly taller by height and better posture. A heavy intensity ruminated the area. You stood off to the side, watching. It was obvious your organised and “logical” brother would take issue with someone as messy and chaotic as Guzma. The reverse could be established from the Team Skull Boss. Before an intense battle erupted, Cyrus stopped himself and stood stiffly. Team Skull members had rushed over to try to help defend Guzma. The emotionless man noted that they really were just teenagers. An odd thought entered his mind, too. Something about how his admins stood by his side despite everything.
□ In the end, he backs down and accepts your relationship. He had already decided long ago he did not care who you were with as long as they did not seem malicious or dangerous. Guzma just seemed dumb and smug. Annoying, yes, but putting you at risk, he was not. He instead left the bug-type enthusiast with a threat about not involving you in anything harmful. Maybe, one day, you could get them to sit down and speak about their shared traumas, but for now, they would only tear at each other's throats.

Slateport isn't far from Mauville, but the trip on Tyrantrum is going to be a hassle. Long ago some civic planners thought it would be an amazing idea to carve the inlet into a triathlete's paradise. Of course that's what Route 110 had looked like some ten years ago, but I'm not about to test the difference now. Connie is happy to be out of her quickball and doesn't give me any trouble when she climbs onto the litter, but I wonder how much her behavior is forced into compliance. She acted up while in front of Spiral and maybe that was because Pokémon actually like her. She was so unbelievably gentle with that shiny Trapinch, not at all like the determined monster I fought in Unova.
Flying over trainers battling out for dominance on Route 110, I'm not thinking about Team Aqua or modernization or the ever expanding reach of the League. I'm caught up in the problems Spiral faces. She said that her shiny Trapinch appeared in her garden, but that there wasn't any box system close to her. Her idea about Pokemon manifesting is absurd, but maybe it comes from a place of truth. There's some part of her that suspects the Pokemon came to her and maybe her response isn't a logical one, but it could be a spiritual one.
I've never asked her about her abilities as a psychic. She clearly doesn't have telekinesis, but maybe she has abilities connected to the Channelers and Hex Maniacs -- some ability to sense the spirit of Pokémon. Beyond that, I'm getting ideas on how to solve her Porygon problem and it isn't exactly legal. I wish I had my old contacts. I wish I hadn't spent the last five years isolating myself.
I enter "the port where people and Pokémon cross paths with nature." Slateport looks as busy as it ever has. Floating rotom-tech directs me to a landing pad on the top of a Pokecenter and I obey the ordinance. Whatever plans I have for disobedience, I'm not ready to go full criminal. Retrieving Connie, I get to work putting my flight litter away and stop.
The sunset is beautiful.
I realize with shame that I was lying to Spiral. I didn't guess that Pokemon existed outside known physical space, I calculated it. My self-destructing Metagross couldn't reform without some exterior force to will that mass back into existence, and while a Metagross could possess the telekinetic ability to reconstitute its mass, a Voltorb could not. Self-destruction is proof of a pokemon existing beyond the limitations of mass and I didn't even mention it. I was too ashamed of Dr. Tetsu's disappointment. I didn't want another beautiful woman to hate me.
My own selfish impulses are getting in the way of doing a net good. I need to swallow my damn pride and tell Spiral that I think I can help her, but there's no point of doing that when I don't have anything in my hand.
Another flier is coming down for a landing. With a knot in my gut, I turn towards the Tropius, but it isn't Spiral.
Shaking my head, I go down into the Pokecenter. There's a report on the television screen, something about time travel dumbed down for the general public. There's no topographical maps or formulas to follow, it's all the kind of talk that any grifter could come up with. I look around for a Poketech X connection port and find it out of service.
"Excuse me," I say to a Joy behind the counter. I can tell she's a clone by the sagging where her wrinkles should be. "I need to send a message to another region. Do you know where I can find a connection port?"
"I'm sorry, Hoenn is going to be discontinuing that technology as part of the shift to full IE support as the League integrates Paldea."
"What? How am I supposed to send a message?!"
"You could send continent to continent messages with ease if you had a Rotom-phone. They're safe, efficient-"
"Yeah, alright. Alright!" I snap. "I got the pitch."
Furious, I walk out into the busy streets. I shouldn't have snapped at the Joy, but I'm getting real sick of the direction the League is headed. It took me months to learn how to do all the dancing connected to Z-moves, and now they're banned.
It doesn't take long for me to find a Rotom-phone retailer, but I don't cross paths with any nature. Slateport has changed and so has the League. The retailer explains that all of my Poketech X contact info will be transferred, but that it doesn't support most of the features on my trusty Poketech X. I'll lose my outbreak sensor, my RNG tester, my notepad, and on and on, but at least I'll be connected to the League's new wireless IE network full of propaganda.
"Listen, can you just point me in the direction to a Poketech X port? I'd like to make a call to someone in Sinnoh."
They point to a cluttered corner of the store surrounded by signs for cheap upgrades to state-of-the-art Rotom-Phone Mark III. It takes me minutes to connect, but my signal goes through.
A fellow blonde trainer answers the trainer and he still looks like a total tool in his early twenties. "Hey, A****. It's been a long time. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, Barry. I'm fine. How's life as an Elite Four?"
"I wouldn't know. I've been running the Battle Tower circuit."
"Taking after you're dad, huh? Congrats. Listen, I'm calling about something specific. You got a moment?"
"Yeah, I'm between matches. We've had a lot of action here in Sinnoh lately. We've seen a lot of fairy trainers. It reminded me of when that Sylveon- Oh, jeez! Maybe I shouldn't have brought that up."
I'm gritting my teeth, but the audio connection is fuzzy anyway. "Don't worry about it, Barry. Do you know what happened to Team Galactic? Have you been keeping track of the remnants of their cell?"
"Huh? No one has asked about Team Galactic in a long time. I think Cynthia was keeping an eye on them."
I cringe all over again. "No, I don't want to bother the Champion."
"Oh, she's not the Champion anymore. She didn't even compete this year. I think she's been searching for Legendary Pokémon or something. You should call her. If anyone's gonna know anything about Team Galactic, it would be her."
"Okay. Thanks, Barry."
"Yeah, no problemo my friendo. I'm glad you're still training Pokémon. After your Garchomp was killed I thought you'd give up professional training for sure! What are you doing now?"
"Um, helping with a research project. I have given up on professional Pokémon battles."
"Oh. Um..."
"It's fine, Barry. I'll talk to you later." I disconnect and let out a long sigh.
Getting in touch with Cynthia is intimidating. What's worse is that I know she's not gonna be interested in helping me. The retailer wanders over to talk upgrades and I walk off. I'm gonna resist using a Rotom-phone for as long as I can.
I find a quiet place and I send Spiral a message: I'm trying to find this coordinator named Esther Flowne, do you know any coordinators in Slateport?
A response takes long than ten minutes and so I miss her call while I'm eating a bowl of curry. In my absence, she's given me the name and number to her friend, Rosette. She's a local, but not a coordinator herself. Point of fact, she's connected to organizing events for the Pokemon League. Time was, the sight of the League's logo filled me with confidence. I had a certain level of ownership over the League as one of its most important representatives in the region, now I'm kind of starting to hate them.
Rosette is busy but she can squeeze me in for breakfast tomorrow. I hope Spiral is gonna be there and I'm afraid about what that means.
@trainerspiral

I’m still piecing together everything and taking it in, the story is just too captivating to me
Small details I understand/interpret/just rly liked seeing under the cut (spoilers)
Someone said the flashback takes place 6 years prior to now, I forgot whether or not it was stated early in the episode but it kinda checks out.
Orla and friede are childhood friends from kanto, she moved to hoenn, and they met again in paldea on ludlow’s fishing boat.
If anyone can PLEASE explain to me the puns(???) mollie and Murdock give before friede slides to the ground, do it, what I understood was “mimirol on a wall”, “metang playing shogi”, and runpappa caring abt SOMETHING
Ludlow is consistently called jii-chan by friede through the episode, whether this means they’re close and have a grandpa-grandson-like bond or if they’re actually related is unclear to me, I just like their back-and-forth while waiting for something to bite, reminds me a little of fishing with my dad.
After lucca calls friede(on a regular ass phone that is NOT a rotom), they meet up in medali’s treasure eatery(a small Larry cameo ensues), but I’m pretty sure friede and ludlow are fishing at the port on paldeas west coast.
The first thing said when the two meet in person is “it’s been a long time!” It seems a lot has changed since lucca was friedes teacher, she is very formal and calls him “friede-hakase” or “professor friede” at every given opportunity. He doesn’t react to this the same way he does in present day, it seems he took his title seriously until meeting pikachu.
Friede focuses in on Luccas wedding ring, relaxes a bit, you really get the vibe that two old friends just spent ages separated and are only now given the chance to catch up over drinks. He must not have seen her in person since she’s gotten married, or since liko was born, but he feels comfortable enough with his former teacher to meet her at the asscrack of dawn to go see that weird pikachu.
Idk how much time passed and for how long friede was watching pikachu, but it looks like he got tired of only watching, now wanting the action that should’ve come with the title of “pokemon professor,” and charizard seems to have wanted this as well. Charizard was mostly sleeping and flying low in the episode, but they jump at the opportunity to take to the sky for the first time in a while.
After catching pikachu, we saw ludlow raise his eyebrows for the second time in the episode(the first was to show amusement at friedes embarrassment in present day), looking proud of friede for doing something exciting. They head over to a construction site orla is working on and we get to see his outrageous request to her, as was alluded to previously.
She asked him if he was stupid LMAO
I like the short, sped-up montage of orla and metang working on the brave asagi but it does NOT make me feel any better abt how labor-intensive her tasks on the ship are now. Like she was building this shit ALONE day in and out and didn’t get paid by the childhood friend that asked for it in the first place. VILE….
Nevertheless, this was the start of the rising volt tacklers, which we now know is named very obviously for captain’s ability to rise into the air using a volt-tackle vortex. I couldn’t for the life of me understand what liko, Roy, and dot talked about at the end because of the music playing over it, but I appreciate orla still chatting and being silly with mollie and murdock off to the side.
The episode is beautiful, I’d watch it 100x over before subs come out, I side with the writer for this one and hope everyone watches it regardless of if they’ve been keeping up. Beyond excited to see someone who actually knows what they’re talking abt to translate this because I’m watching it with my best friend :).

[YOUR ROTOM HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED, FOR NOW, SEE THIS BREAKING NEWS FROM THE TRUMPET]
"This is Maria Jefferson Ammerson, reporting for the daily Trumpet."
"The city's latest menaces, as you know, appeared march of this year at castelia square, however, they have gone missing, and many are fearful of the reasoning, I'm here with Dr. Piotr P. on an interview of what has happened."
"Thank you, MJ, seriously. Today, I have seen one of the 'Menaces' as JJJ says, get swiped by a giant, slim guy, dressed almost exactly like em, but they were all gooey and, you know... Giant. I couldn't track where it went, however, I took a sample, and it seems to use the fusion technology created by Sylph Co. I found the sample lodged in the charging port of this phone I found on the subway. The Vigilantees all seem to be bug-type based, so I believe it to be a joltik like sentient slime. We at Azgroup reccommend citizens to stay inside and away from any electrical equipment, we have no clue the scale of this creature, but we have a video of it, and how it looks. If you hear or see it, STAY AWAY."
*A short video of a black and yellow giant with purple eyes screaming "WE ARE VENTIK, ARIDER PLEASE COME WITH US" and smashing at a red blur are seen*
"Now onto cooking with Dash Triggerfish, the retired football star, and as always, Stay Tootin'!"
"The feed cut?"
"For the non-rotom hackers, yes."
"MJ, you think it's-"
"Obviously, P&M, we need to go."

Chapter 22 - Climbing Sky Peak
Otherwise known as *rolls dice*
...Oh my God-
YEAH SURE WHY NOT!!
This post is going to begin a little a lot more differently than usual. Going in, I knew the Sky Peak arc was going to be a nightmare of text boxes. So I did a little experimenting and took a video of its introduction in Rotom's Cafe - click here to watch that before moving onward.
(Obligatory apologies for many potentially distracting things, including but not limited to: crooked pictures, cloudy lighting, the camera refocusing randomly, random hand cameos, and specks of dirt on the screen.)
I mean—
(I can’t seem to find the artist for this‚ if anyone happens to know who it is pls hmu so I can credit)
Exactly! Let's follow Rhydon's lead and head forth to check out this mountain-
...Er, right. I mean, the Cloudy Well. (Is this the pollution I was foreshadowing?)
Actually, the name feels reminiscent of a level from Spyro 🤔
Butseriouslythisissogodd*mnfunnyamythicalvillagefullOFONIXLMAAAAOOOO
Also don't worry about Team Frontier partially out of frame there, we'll get to them in a minute.
I've played this game for I don't know how many years now, and I literally only had this thought just now-
...But why didn't some flying Pokémon just bypass the ruined mountain pass? Sure, it's inaccessible to everyone else, but unless the entire peak was scorched earth, there's... really no reason for it to have become shrouded in mystery. 🤷♀️
Uh, I think that if you lead us on an arduous trek of one of the highest mountains on the continent only for us to arrive at the peak and go "haha just kidding, the treasure was the friendships we made along the way ^-^" I will actually kill you. FYI.
"Hey, Teresa? What do you think? Should we let Onix join us?"
*says no* *gets stuck in a recursive formula* *breaks the world*
...Just kidding, of course 😅
Team Heavenly is more or less prepared already, so of course my top priority is talking to the NPCs.
We... We can't request... a what?!
I have no idea why "rescue" is randomized like a dungeon name here. And in case you think this is a one-off:
??????????
I just thought the idea of a merchant Clefairy (actually he replaces Pelipper, but I digress) was so cute.
Ah and... Team Frontier... Oh man, where do I even begin?
Now, Jolteon is pretty fitting! I can especially see him with Breloom's style of speaking. He also ended up being a great asset in battles, so no complaints here.
So, let's address the Copperajah in the room. You must be wondering what the heck Deoxys is doing here. But clearly, he's the leader, right?
Wrong.
Don't ask how she took the throne. It's said she once razed an entire village with her fangs alone.
No, Deoxys is... a giggly space queen? Which might even be funnier than the phrase "Onix Village" 🤭
...Yeah, best of luck with that one, bud.
Because Onix is a very large Pokémon, I couldn't have anyone else on the team :( So it was just the three of us on this long, dreary trek.
The first section of Sky Peak Cloudy Well was dubbed "Significant Port." (I apparently didn't snap any pictures of the dungeon itself... whoops.)
But similar to this, the first floor was dead silent. No music. And it was snowing. Classic Mt. Silver creepypasta vibes.
Here's a fresh look at Teresa and Andrea's status, alongside Onix. Note the <100 HP despite being 11 levels higher than Andrea.
Onix wasn't bad, per se. She had Swords Dance, Megahorn, and Rock Blast, which is a heck of a combination tbh. That being said... this first dungeon was probably the hardest of them all in retrospect. At least half of that was due to Onix being super fragile, frequently getting OHKO'd by Aqua Jet of all things. (Yeah, Onix is 4x weak to water, but it's not like Aqua Jet is a very strong move.)
The other side of the difficulty coin was Furret and Blastoise both countering half the damage you dealt and, of course, Monster Houses galore. It got bad enough that I threw a Detect Band on Teresa, which did actually help me survive a future Monster House.
Has real big "WW1 Battlefield on Christmas Day" vibes. Lol, I'm sure this won't be an ominous sign of things to come, right?
(Spoiler: It Was.)
If you recall, there are ten station passes and clearings. Because of this, I'm throwing Sky Peak dungeon names into their own post, instead of stuffing them all in the guide. However, the guide itself will include a link to this "sub-guide." As we traverse each station pass, I'll highlight their titles in bold.
Speaking of, the Second Station Pass was known as Sandy Bay...
(Did you mean: Normandy Beach?! Okay yes technically a different war, but listen-)
And we got ambushed by Andrea's brothers and sisters 😭We BARELY made it out of this one, with Andrea hanging on by a thread. So I was ecstatic to pick up a Foe-Hold Orb... only to immediately lose it by spawning into a "mandatory" MH (i.e., in the same room as the stairs).
Okay folks, that's 30 images, so onwards to Part 2!

I wrote up a User Guide for my Prototype Pokédex. I think I made it a little long, but hopefully nothing is confusing.
//This is pretty long, so read at your peril.
Hello! And welcome to your new Pokédex!
This manual is for the Rotom version of Prototype Pokédex engineered by Alice.
1. Getting Started
Included in the Rotom version is:
1x USB A to USB C cable
1x AC charger
1x International Outlet Adapter
1x Rotom Adaptable mini-Camera Drone
1x Prototype Pokédex
1× Hard plastic cover case
1x Faux Leather Carry bag
2. Know Your Pokédex
This Prototype is modeled after the original Kanto Pokédex, the same model that legendary trainer Red used during their peak! As such, it is a notebook-style Personal Digital Assistant, but with an added slide out keyboard and stylus. However, instead of red, it's a stylish black.
It features a 8 inch touchscreen OLED screen with included glass screen protector.
The Prototype has two outward switches and one volume wheel.
The power switch is located at the right edge, with power on marked with ○ and power off marked with — . The second is at the top edge. This sliding switch has three modes, marked as (T), (R), and (E). These stand for Trainer, Researcher, and Emergency. The volume wheel controls the volume for the included speakers, but not for the emergency speakers.
At the bottom edge is a USB C port at the center. The left of that port is the stylus holder and the right is the AC charging port.
3. First Start Up
When being powered on for the first time, you will be greeted with a selection of themes ranging from Nostalgic 8-bit to Caterpie Green to Cherrum Pink or even Koffing Purple. The theme, along with other personalizations, can be changed later in the Personalization tab within the Settings.
After selecting a theme, you will be prompted to select a system language. After selecting a language, you will be asked to enter a first name, any chosen pronouns or titles and an emergency contact. The Prototype Pokédex can contact the inputed number along with emergency services in the case of an emergency with a pre-written or personalized message from the user. (Note: The entering of an emergency contact is not necessary for the function of the Pokédex but emergency calls will instead only be directed to emergency services. The given name and pronouns will be used when attributing data gathered by you in published research.)
After inputting a name and contact, you will be asked if you would like to list any Pokémon companions manually or have them added automatically when syncing at Pokémon Center PC. This is only for your current companions. This would conclude the start up and the Prototype will enter the default Trainer mode.
4. Operating Modes
The sliding switch at the top of the Prototype switches the Pokédex from 3 separate modes. The default setting upon first start up is Trainer mode. After entering personalizations, you will be at the home screen. The home screen defaults to the list of indexed Pokémon. This can be changed within the Settings.
A. Trainer Mode
Within Trainer mode, you can access virtually the same type of information as you could on a standard Pokédex. This includes:
- List and number of Pokémon caught
- List and number of Pokémon seen
- Summary information of current battle party
- Quick Access to PC boxes
- Fun facts about Indexed Pokémon
- EV/ IV projections
- Pokémon Habitats
- And much more!
An added bonus to our pool of information from multiple regions allows you to compare data on a particular Pokémon from the perspective of different regions. You, too, can add to this research by contributing your own findings!
When viewing a Pokémon's information page, you will see a ➕️ at the bottom of the screen. Selecting this will allow you to add an entry yourself. First, you will be asked if the provided information will be about an observed wild Pokémon, a befriended wild Pokémon, a Pokémon in someone else's care, or a Pokémon in your own care. You may want to use the stylus or the slide out keyboard to write your findings. You may also use the onscreen keyboard.
Do not be afraid to note down anything of interest. Even something as simple as favorite foods can make a big impact on our research.
Once you have written your entry, you will be asked if you would like to provide any audio, video, or images as supplemental evidence. You may use the USB C port to add files from external devices or use any files recorded using the onboard microphone or the Rotom Adaptable mini-Drone's camera and microphone. When an entry is submitted, you can tag it to a specific name. This is useful should you be observing the same Pokémon for a long period of time or if writing about your or a friend's Pokémon.
B. Researcher Mode
When switching to Researcher mode from within the home screen, you will be taken to a list of Researcher functions. These are:
- Up to date, full research notes for each Indexed Pokémon
- Pokémon Cry Recognition and Imitation
- List of Common Egg patterns per species
- Curated Care instructions per species
- Up to date Pokémon Habitat breakdowns
An additional feature of Researcher Mode is found in Trainer mode. When viewing a Pokémon's fun fact, you can switch to Researcher mode and read an expanded version. For example:
Trainer mode:
Hatterene, the Silent Pokémon
If you're too loud around it, you risk being torn apart by the claw on its tentacle. This Pokémon is also known as the Forest Witch.
Researcher mode:
Hatterene, the Silent Pokémon
If you're too loud around it, you risk being torn apart by the claw on its tentacle. This is a common hunting behavior of wild Hatterene within the Lake of Outrage. While omnivorous, they tend to avoid prey they hunted themselves and instead focus on the stores of food of their prey. It is currently theorized that this hunting pattern developed as a result of wild Hatterenes searching for fights between other Pokémon and stalking the losing Pokémon back to a store of food, wherein the Hatterene pounces and makes off with its prey's food.
This Pokémon is also known as the Forest Witch. This epithet is attributed to an old folk tale that is lost to time. One hypothesis suggests that Hatterene also inhabited the Glimwood Tangle and other parts of the Wild Area before human settlements became large enough to clear out its home forests. The epithet is still widely used as even to this day, newly evolved Hatterene can sometimes be seen migrating out of forests that are home Hatennas and Hattrems on foggy nights.

Researcher mode is also the mode necessary for proper syncing at a PC.
C. Emergency Mode
Emergency Mode is a mode that restricts the functions of the Prototype to only the following:
- Calling Emergency contact and Services
- Pokémon Cry Recognition and Imitation
- Trainer Survival Guide
Activating Emergency Mode also activates the Prototype's Battery Saver, which can sustain minimal use for about 5 days from a full charge.
Using Emergency mode to call for help also sends a message to the emergency contact if one was provided.
During emergency use of the Pokémon Cry Recognition and Imitation software, the emergency speakers are used instead. These speakers are louder and are capable of producing sounds only Pokémon can hear to scare away potential threats. If during normal operation, the software detects a hostile or angry cry from a Pokémon who's hostility could prove dangerous to you, the Prototype may prompt you to switch to Emergency mode. Emergency mode also allows you to imitate the cries of known predators or competitor Pokémon of any Pokémon recognized as a threat.
The included survival guide has basic first aid information, a list of edible berries and herbs, explanations of common hazards, camping instructions for various terrains and climates, and navigation techniques.
The Emergency uses of the Prototype are not a replacement for proper preparedness and research. Please be sure to pack any and all necessary items for any hikes or outdoor travel, and to notify others where you're headed and how long you expect to it to take.
Please stay safe while traveling.
5. Syncing to Alice's PC
In order to receive up to date research and to upload any new data, you can use any Pokémon Center PC to sync. Simply set the Prototype to Researcher mode and plug in the USB A to USB C from the PC to the Prototype. You will be prompted to enter Sync mode. Depending on update sizes, this may take a few seconds to a few minutes.
On most PCs, the USB ports will be on a side panel either on the right side of the monitor box or on the right edge of the keyboard.
Once the sync is complete, the Prototype will prompt you to remove the cable when it is safe to do so.
6. Enjoy your new Pokédex Experience!
Thank you for participating in this cutting-edge research initiative. We value your input and can't wait to see what you can find.
Please be aware that the software is still in active development and can recieve new features through Sync mode.
Enjoy your Pokédex!

Pelipper Mail! A nicely sized shelving unit that has plenty of room for figurines, plushies, notebooks, cards, and a large holographic board that can be plugged into a Rotom phone to enlarge the screen! It also has several charging ports for various types of cords!
There is also a note:
My condolences for the recent events that have been transpiring to you and the people you care for as of late. While it is not within my power to assist you at this time, I hope this extra storage will come in handy! - MS 🌟
Oh my. This is quite spectacular. This will greatly improve my dorm room's organization. Thank you, I am quite excited to set this up. :).

HI! I'm MIKE! This is the PERSONAL blog of @schmidt-attack-pain-index. Please direct any rating questions to that blog. I have created this blog to answer more personal questions and to socialize more, as I've been told I need to interact with others more. I prefer to be called by He/Him pronouns.
Here are some of my Pokemon I have with me most frequently, but I have others:
(ooc: a more rp-blog for Schmidt since I accidently made him an actual character. Sorry. This is also where Mike will leave responses on other people's posts. He specializes in ghost types due to them liking his Constant Teetering on the Edge of Death. )
(List of Pokemon Mike has: - Pinocchi Banette - Port Rotom - Cast Abra (shiny) - Fate Lampet - Omen Gengar (shiny, Mike's first Pokemon) - Penny Gimmighoul - Osha Absol - Melody Iron Valiant (shiny) - Furball Slither Wing)

My headcanon, back from when I was more into Platonic!Cyrus content, was that his father found out about Rotom somehow and didn't approve of it. Maybe he felt it was distracting Cyrus too much. Perhaps he felt that if Cyrus was suddenly more interested in making connections, it needed to be with "worthy and valuable" people that had something to offer, rather than lowly Pokemon, nevermind a Pokemon that is often viewed as "obnoxious". Maybe Cyrus's father was just so much of a miserable ass he hated seeing his own son happy.
Either way, I imagine his father intervened when Cyrus was at school or away for whatever reason, and either scared the Rotom off or captured it. He could have threatened the poor creature with bodily harm to itself, or with threats to harm Cyrus if it continued to visit him. If his father caught it, he may have abused it, or at least neglected it then traded/sold it off, dumped it off at a daycare, or kept it hidden and eventually forgot about it.
I lean towards the last one because if the pokeball is just hidden somewhere in Cyrus's family home, like in a wall or under a floorboard, there's a chance to find it and reunite them. Cyrus deserves that, even if Rotom isn't found until Cyrus fails and ends up in the distortion world, or after the events of the Hisui AU.
High Five Anon
Cyrus finally bravely returns to his childhood home in that port town to find someone who had been waiting for him all these years. He probably bawls his eyes out when the dusty old pokeball sends out a familiar friend of his. It nuzzles against his cheek (and Cyrus bears through the electric shock) and makes so many noises because it missed him, too. It knows what his parents did to him and itself. Neither of them plan to ever separate from each other. Still friends and now hopefully, actually, for the rest of their lives. Saturn is now endlessly tortured by his boss's annoying pokemon possessing his computer.
I think his parents would both agree that the Rotom is distracting Cyrus from his studies and whatever other activities they would rather him focus on. He doesn't need it either, so it's quietly agreed to remove it while he sleeps. If he still wants a pokemon so bad, they will get him something less distracting, like a Magikarp.

This is the second time I’ve speculated about Pachirisu’s typing :3 was it going to be Electric-Ice? Sinnoh really loved it’s Ice types! Snover and Abomasnow are, in my opinion, really iconic Pokémon of Sinnoh. They don’t showcase the introduction of variants like Shellos, or the new evolutions such as Togekiss and Roserade.
But the snowy parts of Sinnoh were very important! I don’t remember snow in any previous games. And there was a large part of the map dedicated to snow. Multiple routes, and an entire town!
Future games sometimes attempt to imitate the sincere biome, but they always feel cramped. Examples found in Kalos: the two icy towns, one of which seems very out of place at the same altitude and latitude as the desert; the other literally just a product of the ice gym producing so much coldness that the town froze.
I’m addition to Snover’s line, we also see a new Ice-type eevolution, Sneasel’s evolution Weavil, Snorunt’s evolution Froslass, and Piloswine’s evolution Mamoswine!
Sinnoh also featured several other distinct biomes. The swamp is very memorable! The coasts were highlighted by several port cities. And the center mountain range played an important role in the plot and the development of location-based variants.
The first most iconic biome is surely the mountain. It plays too critical of a role in the main storyline. The altitude introduced fog. The height difference among routes allowed for stunning visuals and novel route design. The swamp and coasts are tied, and come after the snowy lands. The swamp was a uniquely fun and treacherous biome, reminiscent of the Hoenn Desert with it’s biome-specific hazards and combination of the feel of an open-world area with a winding, labyrinthine pacing.
Many of Sinnoh’s new Pokémon are featured here, including Croagunk, Shellos, Krikitune, Buizel, Bibarel, Burmy, Cherubi, and Combee. Unlike the coastal towns, an appropriate focus is given to the swamps. The coasts of Sinnoh feel underwhelming, compared to the vast coastal region of Hoenn, and the expansion of Kanto coastal regions of the Sevii Islands. Compared to the ferry rides of other regions, Sinnoh’s coasts are not quite as memorable.
Thus! I think maybe Pachirisu was intended to be part Ice! It could have had a Pokédex entry such as, “It forwent hibernation in order to survive the endless snow of northern Sinnoh. It’s Ice-typing let’s it stay active in even the coldest temperatures.”
My only real argument is: it is white and blue! :0 Is that a bad argument? Maybe! Yellow is the most remembered color for Electric types, but plenty have been blue.
Magnemite (originally only Electric type) set the standard for including white/grey/blue tones in electric types. Chinchou’s blueness could be attributed to its water typing, though Plusle and Manectric firmly add blue to the electric color pallet. Pokémon such as Mareep, Flaffy, and Rotom exhibit the way blue is a common accent color. Shinx’s line firmly establishes blue as an electric color, more than any other Pokémon.
However, there’s hardly an ice type without blue. And there isn’t a single Ice-Electric type by then. You know they love added new pairings! And pairing it with a Pikachu-esque rodent/lagomorph? The squirrel a great choice! I mean, voles are an option… But those aren’t Pikachu-esque enough, yknow?
Anyways! It’s also white! That’s uncommon in electric types. Voltorb, Electrode, and Flaffy have important uses of the color white. But otherwise, the color is used more in Normal types, Ice types, and even Water types.
I’m just sayin. Imagine you are headed to the snowy city. You headbutt a tree. And a Pachirisu falls out! Hah. Adorable. It’s got moves like Discharge, Charm, Icy Wind, and Double Team. It can take out Flying, Ground, Water, Dragon, and Grass! It could feature in Double Battles with Helping Hand and Thunderbolt. Or, paired with a Pokémon with Rain Dance, it could have 100 accuracy with Thunder while still countering Ground, Grass, and Dragon due to the Ice typing.
:3 I had a lot of fun pondering over this! It was inspired by a color-swap I did with Pikachu and Pachirisu that made me realize it was rather wintery-themed for an Electric. :)

There was a huge outbreak of Rotom outside Porto Marinada, and they shorted out the lighthouse! I was hoping to take a tour of the lighthouse, too... A bunch of us trainers tried catching the Rotom, either for keeps or to return to the wild further away from the area. One lucky bugger caught the shiny Rotom I spotted a little too late. Props to him!
Problem was, there were ships heading in to port and the sun was setting! So Lucario and I convinced an Ampharos to help out. I got the idea from the Olivine Lighthouse. Thank you, Ampharos! It didn't have to work too long, workmen fixed the lighthouse quickly enough.
All in all, it was a hectic arrival to Porto Marinada.
