Porsche 550ne, 2008. A one-off commissioned by the late Prof Dr Ing Ferdinand Piech referencing the Porsche 550 Spyder in which James Dean lost his life in 1955, finished in the same colour. Designed by Walter De Silva the car was nick-named ‘The Little Bastard’, another reference to Dean’s original 550

As of late, Porsche has already established a tendency to not disclose cars to the public until enough time has passed . According to the designer’s Instagram page (above), it’s not immediately crystal clear the motivation behind the car over and above that it was never revealed to the public.
What came to be referred to as Porsche 550ne (think 2020ne), it is become more of a design study which has seen details trickle into afterwards Porsches. Really though, this is an one-off modernization of a sports car built over fifty percent a century ago.
