Salman Khan is all set to return with an Eid release in the form of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Going by the film’s trailer and teaser, it looks like another masala potboiler that celebrates Bhaijaan’s heroism. Before the film, which stars Pooja Hegde opposite Salman, hits the theatres on April 21, director Farhad Samji answered questions on the film, including Salman’s involvement in the making of the project, in an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama

Just days away from the release of Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Are you nervous? Am I nervous? No, not really! I am pleasantly excited. The release feels like a likeable burden. Woh hota hai na, maa nau mahine bachche ko pet mein palti hai. The pregnancy is over. Now it’s time for the delivery

And have you delivered what audiences expect? I’d like to think so. Fulfilling Salman Khan’s audiences’ expectations is not easy. They want to see their Bhaijaan as a true hero. But for me, living up to the audiences’ expectations came afterwards. First there was the story and screenplay. I did my best to tell the story that I had to. And then I made sure that I did full justice to my star’s image and what his fans expect. Pehley khana banaate hain phir ussey thaali mein khubsoorati se paroste hain. First comes the content, then the presentation.

Do you think Salman’s fans will go home happy this Eid? I would like to think so. Shall I tell you something? This is my first film where I feel so satisfied with what I’ve done. I saw the complete film with my entire team, and I felt this is what I had set out to make.

That’s good to hear. How much has Salman contributed to the film’s direction, editing, etc? A lot. And why shouldn’t he? He is not just the leading man. He is also the producer. And a hands-on producer. He is a keen student of cinema. He knows about every department of cinema. And why only him? Every technician on the team has contributed to the final shape of the film, whether it is my DOP V Manikandan or my editor Mayuresh Sawant, everyone has contributed to the final content of our film. It’s a film about a family and we made it as a family. Yeh mili-juli family ki tarah hai.

How much of the original Tamil film Veeram have you retained in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan? I wouldn’t call it a remake. Nor would I call it an adaptation. I would say it is a completely new experience. We’ve made our film as we thought it should be made. Those who have seen Veeram would see our film as an independent experience.

You are identified with the comedy genre. Does that bother you? Why should it? If I am identified with laughter joy and happiness, isn’t that a blessing? To make people happy is a gift. Having said this, I have written scripts for serious dramatic films. But comedy is the genre I am identified with. And as David Dhawanji told me, “When the car is running smoothly, why open the bonnet?”

You are going to be directing Hera Pheri 4. There are people out there who don’t want you to? You mean, they don’t want me to direct it? Yeah, even I’ve heard this. I’ve been asked this question by some journalists. My answer is simple. There has been no official announcement about it. So why talk about it now? Jab hoga tab dekhenge.

Junglee Pictures’ latest outing, the family action and adventure flick, Junglee, starring Vidyut Jammwal and directed by Chuck Russell continues a great run at the box-office. Reportedly, the film has managed to rake in 16.25 crores till now, including its first weekend at the domestic box-office.

The film, which also stars debutantes Pooja Sawant and Asha Bhatt as the female leads, has managed to rake in 2.40 crores on the fourth day. Vidyut Jammwal is seen playing a veterinarian, who returns to his father’s elephant reserve only to find that poachers have targeted the gentle giants there.

Vidyut Jammwal, who has won rave reviews for his action stunts in the film inspired from his Kalaripayattu training, has also been lauded for bringing animal flow on the big screen for the first time. The action maestro  is seen performing some high-end action sequences on moving bikes and cranes placed on high altitudes. That has had both kids and adults queueing up at the theatres to watch the star in action around wildlife, especially the elephants.

So far Junglee has enjoyed a great run at the box-office.

It could be that Diana was the one who did the donation and that could mean that she is his mother. Dan and Blair are now a couple but there is a clear sign that this won't last. It was an interesting episode.

Bonus Movie Review : is enjoyable and strikes a chord

Story: Not someone who believes in giving bonus to employees, Aditya accepts a challenge from his grandfather to live off a meagre amount for a month. Does he succeed in doing so?

Review: In the recent past, writer Saurabh Bhave has been associated with projects like Chumbak and Pipsi and with Bonus, he makes his directorial debut. Saurabh has also written the story, screenplay and dialogue for the film which is about a 'big story of small moments'.

The story of Bonus is simple but while presenting it, the director has thought from the viewers' perspective and that makes the film enjoyable. It's a relatable story that is put forth in a way that everyone will understand.

Bonus revolves around Aditya (Gashmeer mahajani), an upper-class businessman who handles a family business along with his grandfather (Mohan Agashe). He has lived a cocooned life, is ambitious and follows a vegan diet. Aditya wants to take the business to newer heights and ensures his staff is paid well and on time. However, he opposed the concept of giving workers a bonus, something his grandfather swears by because he understands how important it is for a person from the lower economic strata. While discussing the same one day, Aditya's grandfather challenges him to live the life of a regular worker with the amount they get paid for a month. Aditya agrees, not knowing what's in store for him. He leaves for Mumbai's Koliwada with Rs 8000 in his pocket, out of which Rs 5000 get spent for a room's monthly rent. With just Rs 3000 remaining, does Aditya complete his challenge? Of course, life is tough for him now, but the entry of Minal (Pooja Sawant) makes it a little easier.

The film tells you why it's important to enjoy the smaller things in life. In doing so it also takes a humorous approach at times and puts a smile on your face. The actors perform well. Gashmeer brings subtlety to his portrayal of Aditya and is a treat to watch. Pooja lights up the screen with the scenes she is in and the supporting actors are sincere too.

However, there is a feeling of incompleteness after the film ends. Perhaps the love story of Aditya and Minal could've been better explored, or the story of the other characters that come in Aditya's life could've been etched out more. But these are things that could've been done. Maybe a second instalment of the film can do justice to these shortcomings. In it's present form, Bonus is enjoyable and strikes a chord with the viewers.
