Hello!
I notice some how some way, somebody found this blog lolol
I want to say then that this ask blog is years old and is no longer in use. However, if you like Briar and would like to see more of her, she’s still very much active on my art blog @zorritocruzado along with her paramour Mel [ created by @kf-tea check out his stuff too it’s rad~].
Aside from the occasional fluff pic of the two, there’s a lot of concept art happening for a future web comic for them :>
#update#idk if I should keep this blog for future use or not#but I figured I'd just kinda leave it here forever archived#like the PokePalace folder on my deviant art lol

First commission~! -jazz hands- I played around a lot with the effects and such. It kinda hit me in the nostalgia when knowing the refs were from the pokepalace group.

Character Development Questions: Hard Mode
OH BOY HERE WE GO---GISELLE HERE WE GO....for all of them. May you evil thing....
1. Does your character have siblings or family members in their age group? Which one are they closest with?
Giselle does have one sibling, but they are separated by more than a decade. Sadly Giselle keeps a permanent distance from her sister, opting to to stay out of her life entirely with the exception of financial support that her sister is blind to. Her sister Addy has never met her and probably never will.
2. What is/was your character’s relationship with their mother like?
Both maternal figures in Giselle's life turned out to be very sore spots. Her biological mother gave her away as an infant due to illness and lack of financial funds. Being taken in by her father for a better chance at life didn't bode over well with his wife however, as coming home with a bastard tends to go. Gisele's stepmother was a terror in her life. Insults, physical abuse, neglect, and eventually chasing Giselle out at a young age all added to the disdain her remaining family. She has only seen her biological mother once on her own as an adult-- and never talked to her.
3. What is/was your character’s relationship with their father like?
With the dark comes light and Giselle's father was that for her. As a dragon knight Giselle idolized him and was thankful for his presence whenever he was home. When he was home her stepmother kept tight lipped and left her be while her father was more than happy to dote on her. His love of stories and virtuous ideals was awed into her. All the more heartbroken she was when he died in battle, leaving her to her stepmother's actions.
4. Has your character ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed them? If so, does anyone else know?
There's been a few moments that changed Giselle, but as far as witnessing-- a church burning. In her last days of thieving Giselle watched as her group trapped and set fire to a church still in service. Finding the act more radical than she was prepared for Giselle slipped away amidst the chaos in a desperate flee to escape what she was. Literally and figuratively-- she merged with Beselene and started her sugar baby days.
5. On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?
Usually nothing, her pants are so tight.... Maybe a few coins or a blade.
6. Does your character have recurring themes in their dreams?
Death. The rare times Giselle dreams it is almost always about the people who are no longer in her life and losing those who are currently still there. Almost always she'll wake up in a sweat when it starts to get intense.
7. Does your character have recurring themes in their nightmares?
Again death, but for nightmares they usually branch into isolation or the facade Giselle feels she keeps up in order to be happy. Her nightmares in comparison to her dreams do actually blame her for the people who are gone. They aren't her best nights…
8. Has your character ever fired a gun? If so, what was their first target?
A gun, no. A bow, yes. The first was-- a literal target, but as far as people she has but it was someone who needed to be stopped. She didn't think too long on it after.
9. Is your character’s current socioeconomic status different than it was when they were growing up?
Yes. Drastically so. From the lap of nobility, even as a bastard, Giselle had when her father was around everything one could need. Her stability after her father's death yo-yo'ed from bad to good and back a few times. Finally as a ranger she's incredibly well situated socially and financially. Enough so that her previous connections have let her pay to keep her sibling from losing her title from lack of money.
10.Does your character feel more comfortable with more clothing, or with less clothing?
Less!!! The more breathable it is the better in Giselle's case. Having a lot of confidence in her body Giselle doesn't mind showing skin either.
11. In what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been?
The situation Giselle was most afraid in was her initiation into her thief group. It wasn't willing and they kept her in a pit in the middle of the desert, in the dark for a very, very long time, doing things she'd rather not ever think back on. It easily beats falling off cliffs, nearly dying, and being stuck in a haunted forest.
12. In what situation was your character the most calm they’ve ever been?
Laying on her friend on the couch and talking. His voice was very soothing and his chest was very comfy.
13. Is your character bothered by the sight of blood? If so, in what way?
Giselle isn't bothered by blood. She's seen a fair amount and been the cause of a fair amount of it too. It's just something that happens.
14. Does your character remember names or faces easier?
She remembers both, but faces better. Faces are more unique....
15. Is your character preoccupied with money or material possession? Why or why not?
Giselle used to care a lot about possessions, but has since learned to go in favor of people. Once she had everything she'd actually need and enough of what she wanted Giselle realized on her own it didn't mean very much. Now she'd rather spend and give away to those she cares about than have a spending spree for herself.
16. Which does your character idealize most: happiness or success?
Happiness!! After having such a long chunk of her life unhappy Giselle wants to spend what she has left focusing on the good things in life. Rolling around in tall grass, teasing charming strangers, and making others happy is better than climbing the social ladder!!
17. What was your character’s favorite toy as a child?
A rag doll that eventually was taken away : (
18. Is your character more likely to admire wisdom, or ambition in others?
Giselle is more likely to admire wisdom, or at least experiences in people. What people have gone through to become the people they are and lessons they've learned from Giselle likes to relate to. As her life as been one massive growth she has a fascination with seeing other overcome bad to make good. And wisdom in general is great to hear and learn from, why wouldn't someone appreciate it.
19. What is your character’s biggest relationship flaw? Has this flaw destroyed relationships for them before?
Oh boy, now that's a can of worms....It's a toss up between commitment and infidelity. Both are entirely her fault and have ruined each and every one of her romantic relationships. With spring putting sex as a priority Giselle loses her mind in a sense, only to forget all spring entirely once summer starts. This has created a lot of issues, having mixed up timelines with lovers, scaring her into maintaining relationships due to the chances of cheating, and killing relationships out of guilt for things not remembered. Commitment also has killed relationships because how could you know you want to be with someone forever, let alone be with someone who's past as bad as hers forever?
20. In what ways does your character compare themselves to others? Do they do this for the sake of self-validation, or self-criticism?
When and if Giselle compares herself to others it is almost always in self-criticism. Having honestly believed herself to be hollow and bad deep down Giselle tends to see how good and strong people are compared to her. She has a hard time accepting the good "facade" she usually keeps is part of how she really is.
21. If something tragic or negative happens to your character, do they believe they may have caused or deserved it, or are they quick to blame others?
Sadly Giselle has experienced a lot of bad, and most of it she believes to be her fault and deserved it. The deaths of her friends and lovers in particular she took very hard and very personal and in a way, imploded in on herself.
22. What does your character like in other people?
Giselle seems to like a sense of adventure, but what draws her to people tends to vary.
23. What does your character dislike in other people?
Piss poor attitude. If someone off the bat is rude that seems to be the fastest way to turn Giselle off and make her cold to someone.
24. How quick is your character to trust someone else?
In general Giselle is quick to like, but a little slower to trust someone. It depends on the person and how she takes to them initially. The better liked, the quicker to trust.
25. How quick is your character to suspect someone else? Does this change if they are close with that person?
Giselle isn't someone quick to jump to conclusions, so suspecting someone doesn't happen enough to make it happen beyond reason. Usually her intuition will tell her if something is wrong with those closest to her.
26. How does your character behave around children?
Giselle loves children and treats them accordingly. She talks kindly and is patient to play or listen to their needs. Overall grade A+++ mom material.
27. How does your character normally deal with confrontation?
Outside confrontation Giselle is quick to respond. Her actions while not exactly calculated are made with enough thought to diffuse to the confrontation or solve it......but of it's a fight you know a bitch will.
28. How quick or slow is your character to resort to physical violence in a confrontation?
Again Giselle reacts accordingly. She fights when she needs to, but at least she won't provoke it.
29. What did your character dream of being or doing as a child? Did that dream come true?
There wasn't much Giselle dreamed of doing, perhaps playing with friends or coming with her father on her trips. Honestly anything to get her away from her stepmother's general nasty behavior was a wish and a prayer for Giselle.
30. What does your character find repulsive or disgusting?
This was actually a little difficult to pinpoint. Physically Giselle is repulsed by brothels, but not for women or business itself. Disgust barely hints at the people who come for their services either. In truth what causes Giselle the most disgust is her past tied to them, of a life she was almost better than and nearly got sucked into. There's a ton of things Giselle could be grossed out by or upset about, but nothing touches her disgust more than herself and the past she left behind.
31. Describe a scenario in which your character feels most comfortable.
The sheets were warm tangled around her legs as she curled closer into the chest Giselle currently laid out on top of. It was still far too early to be up, the first few beams of sunlight peaking through the curtains. Just enough for her to look up through messy curls and sleep y eyes to appreciate the person below her, the steady heartbeat underneath her palms, the subtle rise and fall of their breathing, and the expression on their still sleeping face. No demands of duty, no stress of emotions, and no danger to pull either of them away-- at least not yet. Not in these few stolen moments Giselle could keep to herself and know perfectly that at least for a moment she was safe and happy where she was at. Sighing she'd settle back onto the others chest and steal a few more moments of sleep, letting their scent and breathing lull her back into that dreamy abyss.
32. Describe a scenario in which your character feels most uncomfortable.
She really rather not be here. Stuck between high pitched sobs and a mess that still needed to be cleaned up after. They had taken too long to locate the kidnapper and the children that had gone missing were now a few numbers lower than what was rescued. The room is a noxious mix of decay, neglect, and shit, and it takes everything Giselle has to not focus on one single element in the room in order to keep above her emotions. It's too familiar despite it being nothing like and nowhere near that place far in her memories....and yet it is alarmingly so. The feeling lingers even after she leaves with the victims, pushing a face appropriate for the matter as she counts silently the seconds till she can go home and lock herself away. Or just somewhere, anywhere she can to feel free of the lifeless stares of those traumatized by it all.
33. In the face of criticism, is your character defensive, self-deprecating, or willing to improve?
ALL THREE!! In a horrible cocktail concoction Giselle takes criticism in the end wanting and willing to improve, however the initial response will be a defensive deflection, brushing it off playfully and then criticizing herself internally. Thankfully once she gets herself past the first two she's usually good to improve.
34. Is your character more likely to keep trying a solution/method that didn’t work the first time, or immediately move on to a different solution/method?
Depending on how crucial the situation is either in time or the people involved Giselle is more keen on trying different solutions in order to reach a successful situation. Whatever gets the job done in the end.
35. How does your character behave around people they like?
For the people in Giselle's good graces she's playful and affectionate around them, at least more so than her usual demeanor. She's also more easy and relaxed about being vulnerable around those in her closest circles. They actually get to see things like stress and fear that she keeps locked up behind her happy facade.
36. How does your character behave around people they dislike?
Unless she absolutely has to interact with them, anyone Giselle dislikes will not have the pleasure of her company. If she must however, and she's given up on trying to keep a neutral liking Giselle is cold and dismissive of said person.
37. Is your character more concerned with defending their honor, or protecting their status?
What honor??? Giselle knows she's not cut from the best bolt of cloth, although she may hide that fact. Who she is now and what she's earned among her community was harder to earn.
38. Is your character more likely to remove a problem/threat, or remove themselves from a problem/threat?
Thankfully Giselle will tackle the problem or threat rather than running from it. As a ranger that comes in rather handy. The only exception to that is if the problem is intimately personal to her and which case Giselle is more prone to running from it. Gotta use heelies to escape them feelies.
39. Has your character ever been bitten by an animal? How were they affected (or unaffected)?
Giselle has been bitten by tons of animals and hasn't been affected by them beyond having to clean up the wound or the occasional stitches. Only Beselene (the sawsbuck she's bonded to) seems to be affected by the chance of predatory animals biting, in most cases never do anything.
40. How does your character treat people in service jobs?
Service workers have nothing to fear from Giselle. Generally Giselle treats them accordingly or better, with light flirting or gossip. They're just people doing their jobs after all
41. Does your character feel that they deserve to have what they want, whether it be material or abstract, or do they feel they must earn it first?
Giselle prefers for things to be earned. Material things to be bought with money she raises, rank to be earned with actions she makes, and respect from the people she helps. She's spent her life being broken down and built back up (the most by herself), and things given to her never satisfied her as greatly as the things she's earned.
42. Has your character ever had a parental figure who was not related to them?
Besides her cliche evil stepmother Giselle's had the odd figure in her life that would nearly treat her like a parent should, but she's never considered them as such. She's grateful for them regardless....they'll just never be mom and pop.
43. Has your character ever had a dependent figure who was not related to them?
No.
44. How easy or difficult is it for your character to say “I love you?” Can they say it without meaning it?
To friends or those close platonically close the words come easy and are meant with every beat of her heart. She'd pour everything have into keeping her love for them and making them happy, and she'd say it till she loses her voice to let them know. Romantically however....When Giselle was younger "I love you" was a worthless and easy thing to say to flings to earn some stability and company. At that point she had never experienced real love to equate the words with something important until later. A few failed real relationships taught her otherwise, and also made her incredibly hesitant to even think it. Now love comes with new struggles that terrifies Giselle to face. The hardest being believing she's someone deserving of it, and strong enough to handle the weight of another heart and not shatter it in fear. So....I love you is very, very hard to say. Probably impossible really.
45. What does your character believe will happen to them after they die? Does this belief scare them?
Giselle was raised with the belief of heaven and hell, but doesn't pay them much mind in her life now. As nice as going to heaven sounds, Giselle believes with her past such is impossible....which is probably why she doesn't think too hard on what might happen after death. The thought should be terrifying, but since Giselle doesn't intend to let herself die anytime soon, she's not gonna let it cross her mind just yet.
#gigi#pokepalace#too-embarrassing#holy shit may why did you ask for all of them??? are you happy now?
