Ingo loves his adopted daughter, even if she breaks down his door to get him to come out.

The text;

Ingo: Mans stayed inside for like five years. 30-something. Akaris dad (he didn't have a choice).

Akari: 17y/o, basically Ingos adopted daughter. Cut and dyed her hair after the incident. Akari like to copy Ingo.

Akari and Ingo met through weird means, aka Elesa found her and decided she should take Akari under her wing. Emmet was very fond of Akari and so was Ingo, both were very fatherly towards her while Elesa was the cool big sister.

Until the incident happened. Once Ingo locked himself away, Elesa was left to have to take care of the eleven year old Akari. She tried her best but due to her anger of people moving on while she and Akari were still in so much pain and grief, the gym suffered from it and she eventually handed over the role of gym leader to someone else.

Akari always saw Ingo as a father and didn't understand how so much could happen in such short time. Once she was older, she learned how to hide her emotions and grief, so she repressed it all until she couldn't.

Akari breaks down the door (aka knocks on it politely and begs Ingo to come back and hangout with her because it's been five years my guy and she misses him)

Some context for the image under the cut:

It was common for Pokemon and items to slip through the space-time distortions. What made this occasion memorable was that an entire train station platform slipped through during the night.

Akari went to investigate when she heard the report. Despite it being early in the morning, she wasn't the first one to arrive. Ingo was there, sitting on a bench, deep in thought.

"Hey, Ingo," Akari greeted as she sat down beside him, cradling her sleeping Rowlet, "Are you waiting on a train?"

"Good morning, Miss Akari," Ingo said, blinking as if waking from a dream. "I'm afraid no trains will be coming into the station today. The tracks stop after a point, uncoupling this station from its sister stop."

"Maybe they'll be reconnected one day? After we sort out this whole space-time distortion stuff."

"That would be the most favorable outcome, yes."

Ingo relapsed into his thoughts, a shadow cast over him. A hush fell over the trio.

When the sun rose far enough into the sky to burn away some of the fog hanging around the station, Ingo finally stood up and readjusted his worn out hat.

"Let's prepare for departure, Miss Akari! It's an excellent day to make tracks in your journey."

"Yes, let's!" Akari sprang up, eager to start the day.

Pines family’d my favorite guys!!

Still been kind of sick so I’ve rewatched Gravity Falls over these past few days; I’d forgotten how much I liked it as a kid, couldn’t help but try and put my favorite characters/media into the show’s style and world. (Especially seeing as how similar Ingo and Emmet’s situation is to Ford and Stan’s). Very fun exercise!!

i think i got attatched to the idea of ingo acting like a guardian for akari and rei. the two of them look so alike and i like to imagine that they act like siblings, so ingo seeing them gets some serious deja vu from his own forgotten life and basically adopts them right there.
