Inspired to share this after watching a couple young guys barefoot fishing on flats - one of them cut their feet on oyster beds - Vibrio vulnificus. "Vibrio vulnificus is a species of Gram-negative, motile, curved, rod-shaped (Bacillus), Pathogenic bacteria of the genus Vibrio. Present in marine environments such as estuaries, brackish ponds, or coastal areas, V. vulnificus is related to V. cholerae, the causative agent of cholera.[3],[4] Infection with V. vulnificus leads to rapidly expanding cellulitis or septicemia." Tried encouraging the guy who got cut to throughly wash his wounds. And the other guy not to ride his bike back here anymore. Apparently this was the first time he was told not to.
