Tumblr media
Are you ready to embark on a journey that will push your limits and reward you with some of the most breathtaking views on Earth? The Annapurna Circuit is the ultimate adventure for thrill-seekers, offering a blend of natural beauty, cultural encounters, and physical challenges. In just 14 days, you can experience the essence of the annapurna circuit tour, an expedition that promises to be as rewarding as it is demanding.
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu
Your adventure begins in Kathmandu, Nepal's vibrant capital. This city, teeming with history and culture, is your gateway to the Annapurna Circuit. Spend the day exploring UNESCO World Heritage sites like Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) and Pashupatinath Temple. Prepare for your trek by purchasing any last-minute gear in Thamel, a trekking hub.
Pro Tip: Visit the Garden of Dreams for a peaceful evening before the journey begins.
Day 2: Drive to Besisahar and Trek to Bhulbhule
The Annapurna Circuit tour officially starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar, a journey of around 6-7 hours. From Besisahar, you’ll begin your trek to Bhulbhule, which is a gentle introduction to the trail that will gradually lead you through lush landscapes and terraced fields.
Elevation: 840m (Besisahar) to 840m (Bhulbhule)
Distance: 8 km | Trekking Time: 2-3 hours
Day 3: Trek to Jagat
The real adventure kicks off on the third day as you trek from Bhulbhule to Jagat. The trail takes you through subtropical forests and alongside the Marsyangdi River. You'll cross suspension bridges, pass by waterfalls, and catch your first glimpses of snow-capped peaks.
Elevation: 1,300m
Distance: 14 km | Trekking Time: 6-7 hours
Day 4: Trek to Dharapani
Leaving Jagat behind, you'll ascend to Dharapani. The trail becomes steeper, and the landscapes more dramatic. You'll traverse rocky paths, dense forests, and picturesque villages, giving you a taste of the diverse terrain that characterizes the Annapurna Circuit.
Elevation: 1,860m
Distance: 15 km | Trekking Time: 6-7 hours
Day 5: Trek to Chame
The trek from Dharapani to Chame offers a mix of nature and culture. As you climb higher, you'll pass through the Tibetan-influenced village of Bagarchhap, where you can visit a Buddhist monastery. The views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal will inspire you to keep pushing forward.
Elevation: 2,670m
Distance: 14 km | Trekking Time: 5-6 hours

Day 6: Trek to Upper Pisang
Chame to Upper Pisang is one of the most scenic parts of the Annapurna Circuit tour. The trail winds through pine forests, and you'll start to feel the altitude as you reach Upper Pisang. Here, the landscape changes dramatically, with towering peaks surrounding you.
Elevation: 3,300m
Distance: 16 km | Trekking Time: 5-6 hours
Day 7: Trek to Manang
Today, you’ll trek to the picturesque village of Manang, a popular acclimatization stop. The trail from Upper Pisang to Manang offers two routes: one via the high path through Ghyaru and Ngawal, which offers stunning views but is more challenging, and the other via the lower path along the Marsyangdi River.
Elevation: 3,519m
Distance: 19 km | Trekking Time: 6-7 hours
Day 8: Acclimatization Day in Manang
Acclimatization is crucial as you ascend higher on the Annapurna Circuit tour. Spend the day exploring Manang and its surroundings. You can hike to Gangapurna Lake or the nearby village of Braga, where you'll find a 500-year-old monastery with panoramic views of the Annapurna range.
Elevation: 3,519m
Distance: 3 km | Trekking Time: 2-3 hours (optional hike)
Day 9: Trek to Yak Kharka
After a restful day in Manang, you’ll continue your ascent to Yak Kharka. The trail is less populated but offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks. Watch for yaks grazing in the pastures as you trek through this serene landscape.
Elevation: 4,050m
Distance: 10 km | Trekking Time: 5-6 hours
Day 10: Trek to Thorong Phedi
As you approach one of the highest points on the Annapurna Circuit tour, the trek to Thorong Phedi is steadily climbing. The terrain becomes more rugged, and the air thinner. Thorong Phedi is the base camp for the next day's pass crossing.
Elevation: 4,450m
Distance: 7 km | Trekking Time: 4-5 hours
Day 11: Cross Thorong La Pass and Trek to Muktinath
The highlight of the Annapurna Circuit tour is the crossing of the Thorong La Pass, standing at an elevation of 5,416 meters. This day is challenging, but the rewards are immense. You'll be greeted with 360-degree views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. After crossing the pass, you'll descend to Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists.
Elevation: 5,416m (Thorong La) to 3,800m (Muktinath)
Distance: 16 km | Trekking Time: 7-9 hours
Day 12: Trek to Jomsom via Kagbeni
From Muktinath, the trail descends to the Kali Gandaki Valley, passing through the ancient village of Kagbeni. This region has a unique desert-like landscape, and the trek to Jomsom is relatively easy, offering a chance to relax after the previous days' exertions.
Elevation: 2,720m
Distance: 20 km | Trekking Time: 6-7 hours
Day 13: Fly to Pokhara
After days of trekking, you’ll take a short flight from Jomsom to Pokhara, a beautiful lakeside city. This is your chance to unwind, shower, and enjoy a celebratory meal. Spend the day exploring Pokhara’s attractions like Phewa Lake and the World Peace Pagoda, or simply relaxing with a view of the mountains.
Elevation: 800m
Flight Time: 20-25 minutes

Your Annapurna Circuit tour concludes with a return to Kathmandu. Reflect on the incredible journey you’ve just completed. Whether you explore more of Nepal or head home, the memories of the Annapurna Circuit will stay with you forever.

While climbing Pisang Peak, it offers breathtaking views of Mt. Annapurna's II, III, and IV, Gangapurna, Glacier Dome, Mt. Dhaulagiri, Tilicho, and the Manaslu Mountain range. Surrounded by the majestic Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu, the scenery enhances the beauty of the Journey.
The Journey begins with a stunning drive from Kathmandu to Chamje. Following the Marsyangdi River to its source at Manang glacial lake, we pass through a desert-like arctic zone west of Manang. After taking a full rest in Upper Pisang for acclimatization, we will proceed to High Camp. At the high camp, our special team will set up the tents, and we will prepare for the summit.
Checking health is very important before we head toward the summit. Also, you need to check carefully that all the climbing equipment, such as crampons, harnesses, ropes, and ice axes, is in order. The climb itself involves navigating a uniform slope to the final snow-covered and icy summit pyramid. Always stay near the Guide and follow the order and safety instructions given by your Guide. It is important to overcome the technical sections and successfully reach the summit.
Also, during this trek, you will get the chance to explore the Manang region, and while crossing from Thorang-la Pass to Muktinath, you can see a glimpse of the Upper Mustang. You will also visit the religious site of Muktinath, meaning God of Salvation. You can take a bath in the famous 108 water sprouts, which are special for tourists and religious people.
The trek includes an exploration of the Manang region, with a visit to the religious site of Muktinath, meaning God of Salvation, in the local language. Muktinath is known for its 108 water sprouts and abundant fossils, making it a special place for both tourists and religious people.
Exploring more of the lovely city of Pokhara is another highlight of this Peak Climbing. You can check out various historical and religious sites. Also, don't miss trying the tasty local street food – it's affordable and yummy.

Best time to trek the Annapurna Circuit/Annapurna Round Trek
Tumblr media
The best time to trek the Annapurna Circuit is generally during the pre-monsoon (spring) and post-monsoon (autumn) seasons. The two main trekking seasons are:
Spring (March to May): This is considered the best time to trek the Annapurna Circuit. During spring, the weather is generally mild and stable, with clear skies and blooming rhododendron flowers adding color to the landscape. The temperatures are moderate, and the visibility is excellent, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
Autumn (September to November): Another favorable time for the Annapurna Circuit trek is during the autumn season. The weather is usually dry and stable, with clear skies and pleasant temperatures. The trails are well-defined, and the views of the mountains are stunning. Autumn is also a popular time for trekking in the region.
During these seasons, you are less likely to encounter heavy rainfall or harsh winter conditions, making the trek more enjoyable and safer. The winter months (December to February) can be quite cold, with the possibility of snow blocking high passes, and the monsoon season (June to August) brings heavy rainfall and the risk of landslides, making it less suitable for trekking.
Keep in mind that weather patterns can vary, and it's essential to check current conditions before planning your trek. Additionally, it's advisable to be prepared for changing weather, especially at higher altitudes.
What kind Accommodation and Food Should i expect in Annapurna Circuit Trek?
The accommodation during the Annapurna Circuit Trek is a harmonious blend of comfort and cultural immersion. Tea houses, featuring twin beds and private rooms with shared bathrooms, provide a warm and insulated haven for weary trekkers. Beyond the cozy lodging, the culinary experience is equally enchanting, with menus offering a diverse array of local, Western, Indian, Chinese, and Tibetan cuisines. From traditional Nepali dishes like dal bhat to international favorites such as pasta and pancakes, tea houses cater to various tastes. The inviting atmosphere of communal dining areas in these lodgings adds to the trek's allure, making it a memorable journey filled with both culinary delights and snug accommodations amidst the stunning landscapes of the Annapurna region.

From fourth day onward we will organize official trekking. We will question and checkup guest if they are okay and if their physical condition is at top-notch for trekking or not. Once the health check-up is completed we will start the adventure trek on the trail that goes around the Annapurna massif. This is the first dirt road that has been constructed up to Manang. We might encounter occasional motorcycles and jeeps along the way. The trek stops at Jagat for lunch and continues towards Chamje. It is fairly an easy day of the trek as we haven’t yet entered the high altitude region. The walk today has less steep going so it feels gentle that is fairly good for the first day of long trekking journey.
·
Trek from Chamje to Bagarchhap:
The second trekking day of the Annapurna circuit trekking adventure leads us towards Bagarchhap via Dharapani. We gain about 700 meters of elevation on our trek. The trek goes via Dharapani where we might meet trekkers coming from Manaslu circuit trek as the root connects at this place. After lunch we will move further ahead following the Marshyangdi valley with spectacular landscape and view along the way. We will be staying at Bagarchhap, which stands at 2,140 meters above sea level and is a beautiful place to spend overnight.
·
Trek from Bagarchhap to Chame :
Bagarchhap to Chame section in the circuit trail is an interesting walk of the trek. The walk brings some spectacular views of the mountains in the massif. As we gain the elevation on the trek, we take slower pace to adjust with the altitude. The slower pace provides ample time to acclimatize and to enjoy the majestic views of Annapurna and Lamjung Himal. When we reach Chame, we will have some time to explore the beauty of this beautiful settlement.
·
Trek from Chame to Pisang:
We will experience the change in the landscape as we go higher towards the destination. The Chame – Pisang stretch on the trail has some magnificent views of the giant peaks of Annapurna and Pisang peak. On the way to Pisang, we will pass through dense forest, narrow path leading us to the dramatic curved rock face, rising 1500m from the river. The path we will undertake; also consist of the steepest part of Marshyangdi Valley. Our effort of traversing the trail goes for about six hours which will bring you the most beautiful walking experience.
·
Trek from Pisang to Manang:
Manang is the headquarters of Manang district, a beautiful Himalayan district. Basically the way to Manang consist of two paths. But we will take the route through Upper Pisang via Geru. This route offers some spectacular views of the Himalayas. We can visit the Barge Monastery, the largest monastery in the region, along the way. We will gain an incredible mixture of nature and spirituality to make our walk for the day a wonderful one. We will take some time to explore the place once we reach there.
·
Manang Acclimatization Day:
As we have covered a good stretch on the trail over 3,000 meters, we need a good full day to acclimatize and gather energy to go further higher on the trek. An acclimatization hiking trip around Manang makes our day giving us chance to acclimatize and enjoy the beauty of surrounding. This well spent day around Manang is a real insightful day to get to know this valley.
·
Trek from Manang to Yak Kharka:
This is a short day walk of 4 hours to Yak Khar. But the 4 hours of effort on the high altitude trail gives us enough challenges to traverse the high altitude trail. Although the path is challenging, the walk is beautifully scenic and greatly enjoyable. The walk brings spectacular scenic landscapes to our view. We enter well high above the tree line now so the vegetation gets sparser as we climb higher. Yak Kharka is a small and beautiful settlement established as a normal stopover place for the Annapurna circuit trekkers.
·
Trek from Yak Kharka toThorong Phedi:
Another short yet spectacular trekking day today takes us to Thorong Phedi nestled at the bottom of Thorong La pass. This place is the base for trekkers to rest and get some energy to set off on the adventurous walk over the Thorong La pass the next day. Thorong Phedi is a small and beautiful settlement that has a couple of guesthouses to rest. When we reach the destination, we will take a short walk around the area to help ourselves acclimatize.
·
Trek from Thorong Phedi to Muktinath via Thorong La:
We are going to strive for the highlight of the trip. The ultimate objective of this days is to walk over Thorong La pass- world highest pass. We will set off on the early morning journey towards the pass on a slow and steady pace. The growing elevation and early morning uphill challenge tests us well on our stamina and endurance. The effort is worth taking it as a breathtaking view awaits us from the top. The well decorated pass with spiritual prayer flags and spectacular views makes our time. After spending memorable time on the top, we start descending all the way down to Muktinath.
Muktinath is a beautiful place full of spiritual vibrations. It is also an important pilgrimage for the Hindus and Buddhists in Nepal. When we reach Muktinath we will have short break to take some photographs and explore the surrounding.
·
Day 13: Trek from Muktinath Jomsom:
It’s the final day of our trekking journey. We walk to Jomsom on and easy trail passing through the Lower Mustang region and Kali Gandaki River Valley. On the trail to Jomsom we will pass through a beautiful settlement of Kagbeni on the bank of Kali Gandaki River and stop for lunch. The walk today is going to be a little windy as we move along the river valley towards Jomsom. Jomsom is the center of the beautiful Mustang that boasts varieties of beautiful features in the Drive from Jomsom to Pokhara:
Waking up with the pleasant sound of the flowing river and birds; we will have our breakfast and get ready for drive. The destination for today is Pokhara. About 9 hours of driving through serpentine roads we will arrive at the city of lakes Pokhara. Once we are in Pokhara, we have leisurely time on our own to go explore the town. We can find massage to relieve the tiredness of trekking or simply walk around the lakeside. There are options of going for some adventure activities like paragliding, zip flying, bungee jumping, and ultra-light flight, etc.
·
Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu:
We take a drive back to Kathmandu via the same highway we took earlier to go there. Once in Kathmandu, we spend leisurely time back in the chaos of the city after so many days of serene mountain air and incredible adventure.
·
See You Again:
As the last day on this trip, we drive you to airport as per your flight schedule back to home or onward destination.
