What I usually say about these movies is “The first one was good.”

look! the moonlight shows us for what we really are. we are not among the living, and so we cannot die — but neither are we dead.

He’s also not willfully ignorant. I forget which movie it was, but he had a bible and was attempting to study it, and his buddy went “You can’t read!” His response was “Well yeah, but you get points for tryin’!” Meaning he was actually attempting to teach himself how to read it. If he was a rogue monk, and the bible he had was in English instead of Latin or Italian, this makes so much more sense! He was trying to teach himself to read English!
I’m probably wrong, but it’s a fun theory~

i don’t think you understand…. i NEED to know this man’s story.
he can’t read, he’s as incompetent and clumsy as the rest of the crew, and yet he is probably one of the wisest, most perceptive and most knowledgable pirates aboard.
where the hell did they find this man????

"The Flying Dutchman is the best damn ship in the series. It has an awesome design, a terrific arsenal (the triple guns on the bow for pursuit? that ROTATE?), AND it can submerge underwater and then pull up to other ships like some sort of marine jumpscare?? That is the coolest thing a ghost ship can do
yeah yeah, Black Pearl is faster, blah blah blah, does she have a spooky ginormous organ on board, though? didn't think so"

(PotC: Jack Sparrow, Sins of the father by Rob Kidd)
They still remember that day (where the only good thing was that they met). They still remember other days like that one. It still hurts.

Descendants 2 but I replaced that arm wrestle scene with Liar's Dice
Tumblr media
Like imagine Mal and Uma's confrontation after Mal comes back, its all fun and games until the tension builds and Uma successfully calls Mal's bluff and wins (and makes the deal about the magic wand)
Also w/ Uma calling Mal a liar, maybe reflective of how at the start of Descendants 2 Mal is like not being herself (being blonde and shit) so she's like lying to herself bcuz issues
Tumblr media
I say Liar's Dice as in Pirates: Dead Man's Chest liar's dice w/ Davy Jones and Will (and Bootstrap)
That scene already was so good and had a little banter SO IMAGINE MAL AND UMA DOING THE SAME AND LIKE idk adds depth to their past relationship friendship whatever tf they had

Do you see it guys,,,,, do you see the vision,,,,

Pirates of the Caribbean First Mates
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(no the First Mate doesn't come with the ship, it's their resume. but if you want the ship why not take it, yer a Pirate ain't ya?)
And yes, this is to match with our Captains poll
*Arabella "Bell" Smith is a character from the Jack Sparrow series by Rob Kidd. She is his first crew member and first First Mate. In the books she take up with Bootstrap Billy leading to speculation she is Will's mom. She also has a role in the Magic Kingdom, as a tavern proprietress.

Be it your heads, hearts, or other decision makers, Elizabeth Swann was clearly the Captain who inspired the greatest loyalty in the audience

Hats off to our favorite Pirate King!
Valiant effort to the other captains. But how fun is it to say "more people want to be on a female captain name Elizabeth's ship than any male captain regardless his name"
Pirates of the Caribbean Captains

The other Pirate Lords during the Brethren Court scenes in At World's End are: Ammand, Chevalle, Sri Sumbhajee Angria, Gentleman Jocard, Mistress Ching, and Eduardo Villanueva. The Keeper of the Code, Edward Teague (Jack's dad), is also there.
Other captains more generally could include Anamaria and Joshamee Gibbs, as well as other pirates/merchant/navy captains in the movies or books or rides.

pirates of the caribbean really introduced an eldritch octopus man who kills indiscriminately and torments the dead as their poster villain and then you watch the movies and it's like, "oh no, actually the worst villain in this series is a small white british man who functions as the herald of capitalism" and that was very very brave of them

Since Pirates of the Caribbean has been released 21 years ago and Sparrabeth has been one of my first OTPs, I thought I share some moments between Jack and Elizabeth, which made me fall for them so hard I still haven't recovered:
Saving her (both physically and metaphorically)
Tumblr media
2. The way he looked at her in this scene
Tumblr media
3. Him realising she is his match
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. THE SERIOUS LOOKS
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. The flirting
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. The compass-thingy
Tumblr media
6. She has faith in him

"the most underrated character in the series is Mistress Ching. Not only is she based on a real historical figure (who was awesome if I remember correctly) but she also looked all kinds of scary. Would have made a way better villain than Blackbeard"
