Wusstet ihr, dass man Dinge tatsächlich aufschreiben muss, um sie auf tumblr zu posten? Das hatte ich irgendwie vergessen in letzter Zeit. Jetzt ist mein Hirn aber wieder benutzbar, und ich beantworte endlich mal Zeug!

Das hier zuerst, wobei ich tatsächlich überlegen musste wovon ich eigentlich reden will, weil so viel Kram in meinem Hirn schwirrt. :D Konnte mich dann aber entscheiden!

Kennt ihr diese Oktober-Writing-Challenges? Jeden Tag gibt es einen Prompt, und man schreibt irgendwas dazu, egal was, hauptsache schreiben? Ich dachte mir dieses Jahr: ja, das will ich machen, dieser zusätzliche Druck wird mir definitiv gut tun!

Wollte dann aber nicht meine bereits existenten Charaktere neben...dann ist mir dieser tumblr-post auf pinterest über den Weg gelaufen...

...und irgendwie hat sich alles sehr schnell verselbstständigt.

Ich wollte eigentlich nur 'ne kleine Romanze schreiben, mich ein bisschen aus meiner comfort zone bewegen. Aus der kleinen Romanze wurden dann irgendwie Soldaten in irgendeinem (nicht näher benannten) historischen Krieg, und aus denen wurden dann irgendwann Gottheiten. Ja, ich weiß ja auch nicht - aber ich weiß dass ich nicht an Mary Sues glaube. Ich hab' Spaß, ja?

Enter Yíbào und Shíhán, die in ihren sterblichen Leben auch irgendwann mal normale Namen hatten, die nicht auf einem Idiom basieren (und nicht Brutalität und Kälte versprechen), welche allerdings unter Sterblichen schon lange vergessen sind. Kriegsgott und Göttin des Bogenschießens, nur dass sich Shíhán es mit den anderen Göttern verspaßt hat, und jetzt wieder auf der Erde rumschlurft. Suckt ein bisschen, aber das kriegt sie auch noch hin.

Ja, wie kommt's zur connection? Yíbào war zu Lebzeiten eiskalter Kriegsstratege, und allgemein irgendwie bekannt dafür sich nicht wirklich für seine Soldaten zu interessieren. Alles seine Schachfiguren, alle nur so wichtig wie sie nützlich sind. Ganz netter Kerl. Shíhán war in den Augen der Leute damals hauptsächlich eine Frau und nicht viel mehr, aber um Himmels Willen konnte sie gut mit dem Bogen umgehen. Fand' Yíbào ganz toll (naja, so toll wie Mr. "Empathie und Gefühle hat sich irgendein Philosoph nur ausgedacht" irgendetwas finden kann), und hat beschlossen dass sie unfassbar nützlich ist. Wie wär's mit ein bisschen den Feind mit Pfeilen befeuern? (Fand' Shíhán eine gute Idee!)

Yíbào hat eine wichtige Schlacht gewonnen und hoppsala, Kriegsgott isser. Einfach puff und weg. Shíhán fand' das echt gar nicht witzig, sie hat den Eisklotz ja doch irgendwie liebgewonnen (warum kann sie auch nicht sagen, aber sie hat in Yíbào doch ein paar menschliche Züge gesehen), und jetzt lässt er sie einfach alleine? Frechheit. Natürlich kriegt sie als Frau auch kein Lob ab wenn's um den Kriegsausgang geht, und das macht sie nur noch wütender.

Könnt ihr raten wie's läuft, wenn sie sich dann doch nach über fünf weiteren Jahren auch zur Gottheit hochkämpft? Wie war das mit Romanze? Wie war das mit dem roten Faden? Wer sagt eigentlich, dass Soulmates immer harmonisch zusammenleben müssen? Warum kann Shíhán den Bastard von Mann nicht einfach hassen, weil Empathie für ihn ein Fremdwort ist, er wirklich ein wenig zu gerne Kriegsgott ist, und ein wenig zu zufrieden damit ist, dass seine Anhänger eine Todesangst vor ihm haben?

...ja, vielleicht mag Yíbào sie ja doch irgendwie, auch wenn er's nicht einordnen kann. Nicht, dass Shíhán das irgendwie interessieren würde! Ganz sicher nicht! Sie hasst den Mann! (Hat er ihr wirklich etwas getan? Eigentlich nicht. Aber in ihren Augen hat er sie alleine gelassen, das ist schlimm genug. Communication? What's communication?)

sind das noch red flags? werden die schon zu black flags? disqualification due to outside help? Doesn't matter, immerhin schlurft Shíhán mit ihrem Hitzkopf ja mittlerweile wieder auf der Erde rum!

...

...wehrt Yíbào sich deshalb nicht, wenn die anderen Götter ihn auch irgendwann "runterschubsen" weil sie irgendwie ein bisschen Angst vor ihm haben? So (wenn man ihn fragt) ohne Grund, nur aus Paranoia?

Das ist alles irgendwie den Oktober über komplett ausgeartet, ich konnte mich nicht wehren. Mein Hirn tut, was es tun will.

do you have any advice for writers? i’ve written a couple strories here and there throughout the years and want to start again. you seem to have so many interesting ideas and are brave enough to share them!

i'm honestly horrible at giving advice but i will try!

it's gonna sound clichée and all but - just go for it! even if it's just a small, silly idea - write it out, don't overthink what others might think.

write down anything that comes to your mind!

i have a doc specifically for snippets and blurbs that are just fleeting thoughts - dialogue, scene descriptions etc. etc. chances are that once you've written it down, you come back to it and flesh it out. or you have something that just perfectly fits into a fic in the future.

use prompt lists to get started! just googling like "smut prompts" or "fluff prompts" will give you many lists where you can pick and choose from.

what also helped me to find ideas is random conversations with friends, doesn't even have to be fandom related! engaging with others, or maybe drawing from your own life experiences all make for interesting and funny ideas.

browse google or pinterest, the most random moodboards or pictures will spark the most random ideas ngl.

start out small maybe. starting out with the biggest idea could make you feel overwhelmed. a few hundred words do the trick too and it makes you get comfortable with the whole process of writing and uploading something so it's not as daunting later.

don't force anything. don't feel the vibe of one story rn? put it down and continue or start with something else to do on the side until inspiration strikes again.

most importantly: do. not. compare. yourself.

seriously. it's difficult and man, i deal with it too. but a bunch of numbers on your stuff is not indicative of the quality of your fics. it's luck, really, and obviously it helps when people have friends that help share things around.

and ask for help if you need it! i'm sure many people are willing to help with all sorts of things or point you in the right direction, myself included 🖤

i used to write for years without publishing anything too, and i only really got the inspiration and motivation to share in this fandom ngl.

i still have hella anxiety to share stuff sometimes, btw, so if you worry about that, it really just is something you'll have to get used to. but it does get easier with time, trust me!

I have my own handful of cringy attempts of writing fics.

I had this one notebook from three yeaers ago full of strories and the first one that I wrote I remember it as a perciver fic where they were at a bar but i don't remember more and i can't read it.

Like literally I cannot read it because I was obsessed with creating my own language that I made this, the language is from a pinterest post and I just took it and made my own little twist.

Edit: I wrote this like few days ago, i think?, and I forgot to post it

Wait guys, i just remembered that in 5th grade (i was 10) I wrote a george weasley fanfic where the main character was named Jemma and she was the secret daughter of Lily and Snape and she was raised by Snape, but he was nice.😭

I hadn't thought of that in years and I suddenly remembered it. I think I had blocked that out bc it was like a traumatic memory, i have no clue what i was on😃

Anyways I haven't tried to go back and read it, so I won't put the link bc it's probably so bad, but it's on quotev and i'm pretty sure it's called 'The Snape in Slytherin' if any of y'all are brave enough to go read it. Let me know how bad it is if you do bc i don't think i'll be able to. (BTW I DO NOT SUPPORT SNILY- I HAVE NO CLUE WHY IT WAS LIKE THAT)

While I was going to check the name, i found out that I also wrote one called 'The Life of Luna Evans' about Lily's twin sister. Her love interest was James's twin name Leo😭 (might as well have just written Jily fanfic)

I have no clue when i wrote this, i literally have no recollection of it whatsoever. This was 5 years ago and I didn't even realize I had had a marauders phase before the past year

Pinterest Powers up Creators With New Tools During Stressful Times

Pinterest’s Global Director of Creator Marketing, Colleen Stauffer, said that the content on Pinterest is about the people and what they want in their life. Further adding to her statement, Stauffer explained that the platform really tried to harness planning that turned into way more short-term amid the pandemic last year. They wanted to fit users in their current lives and the way they planned in the hour.

This ever-lasting pandemic not only changed our lives out in the physical world but also transformed our digital lives altogether. It shifted the demands people placed on familiar tools. Marketers must pay attention to these changes on social media platforms. The trends cut deep into the human experience for creators of these communities.

Long before the pandemic emerged, the platform knew the tendency for ‘pinners’ (a fancy name for Pinterest users) to be “future-looking” in the content they looked up. They might be redesigning a room in their house, or perhaps they were planning a vacation. But with the emergence of this global pandemic, those same users were now seeking short-term solutions. For example, what easy and healthy breakfast could they make before sitting down for a work-from-home virtual meeting while their kid attended online classes on the laptop?

Last year in March 2020, in a quick response to the increased demand, Pinterest accelerated the rollout of their “Today” tab. It lets users receive instant updates from reliable sources such as the WHO (World Health Organization) and CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Pinners could also discover child-friendly baking recipes and recommended shows and movies to fill up all the spare time indoors.

POWERING UP PINTEREST CREATORS

Besides helping its users navigate this stressful period, the platform has also taken measures to strengthen and expand its community. Typically, Pinterest has done so to set itself apart from other social networking platforms such as YouTube and Instagram rather than pursuing the standard social media practice. While there are options to follow, comment, and share on Pinterest, the company has flatly denied being a social media platform for years. It defines itself as a visual discovery platform.

However, what they like to call themselves is not as crucial as what they help their community members do. For marketers, this is vital because last summer, Pinterest saw more than 400 million active users per month. It is growing in popularity among Zoomers and Millennials, with a 50% increase for men YOY on the platform.

Strengthening its creator base powers up the whole Pinterest community, making it even more worthwhile to brands. The steps Pinterest is taking in this direction demonstrate how people and their preferences have shifted over time.

Last year in September, Pinterest rolled out Story Pins that allow creators to tell visual and dynamic multi-page stories with videos, images, text, and links. Its beta version also incorporated a new creator profile and analytics tools for tracking performance. The platform is also providing the creators with access to analytics via its trends tool.

In essence, this new Story Pins format is a bet against how other digital platforms tell stories. For example, Instagram and Facebook Stories expire after 24 hours of posting them. In contrast, the stories on Pinterest stay where they are, thus leveraging the evergreen value in Pinterest content. This feature lets users discover and rediscover content writing that they may have missed earlier.

This new beta version of Story Pins also allows creators to post to Pinterest directly. In addition to this, users can browse and then send messages to creators through the new profile within the platform directly.

For this feature, Colleen Stauffer said that the creators want their content to live in a single place, and the ability to create content on the platform directly has been a need for Pinterest users. They want to discover a great food creator, check out their Story Pin, and get the recipe quickly, all within the Pinterest ecosystem.

INFLUENCING AND SHOPPING

With creators and pinners getting to engage with the created content all in a single place, the platform is also acquiring eCommerce potential. According to reports, it is expected that social commerce sales alone will exceed $36 billion in 2021, that too, in the United States alone!

Pinterest is already making moves in this direction to make its platform more shoppable, such as via its Story Pins. In fact, the platform has currently launched a “Try On” feature that uses AR technology to allow users to virtually try on a few beauty products. It proves to be the case that users who try this feature are 5x more likely to show purchase intent.

As per Stauffer, around 89% of weekly Pinterest users turn to the platform for inspiration in their buyer journey, thus confirming creators’ potential to influence their purchasing decisions. Moreover, according to reports, a whopping 83% of weekly pinners have purchased a product based on the content they saw on Pinterest.

Stauffer said that Pinterest is a visual discovery platform, and each time a user comes across a product s/he likes, they should be able to purchase it or something similar to it, depending on their personal taste. Furthermore, she said that this is their vision for shopping with Pinterest. The platform has rolled out shopping products that bring shopping everywhere across Pinterest, which includes the company’s Verified Merchant Program and their partnership with Shopify, where businesses can upload their product feeds easily and convert them into shoppable Pins.

Stauffer further said that in the upcoming months, the platform would be launching product tagging for Story Pins, allowing creators to tag particular products within their stories and reach pinners who are planning to shop.

WRAPPING IT UP: NEXT-LEVEL INFLUENCING FOR PINTEREST CREATORS

Now the main question is what does the future of influencing on Pinterest look like?

Pinterest is progressively taking vital steps to grow and strengthen its community. With more and more brands capitalizing on the platform’s new advertising formats, using promoted pins and the right keywords, and collaborating with creators who have a decent following, the platform’s influencing potential is growing exponentially.

The platform already enjoys a highly and actively engaged community of Pinners and creators, and with the addition of a more powerful influencer community, Pinterest will be even more competitive in the rising social commerce market. With the visual discovery platform rethinking stories and influencers, it has taken the whole influencing game to the next level.

Moreover, the future-looking behavior of Pinterest users can also offer hope for relief amid stressful times like this pandemic. In fact, as per Stauffer, the Pinners have already begun searching for vacations again!

how do you feel about maddie and company continuing to post as if nothing happened? you might also want to know that maddie is still working on the ocs she made for your strories without permission or credit on pinterest.

i wouldn't know anything about it, seeing as i have them blocked, and never interacted on pinterest.

on the other hand, their silence is deafening. "innocent" people, as these anons proclaim, would at least attempt to defend themselves, no? the evidence is all there, and it's pretty damning. i am at least relieved they are not lying, but they need to at least take accountability and apologise for all the hurt they've inflicted.

in maddie's defence (which, idk why i even bother defending them still, old habits and whatnot i guess), their ocs were never created for my works. they are their own ocs, and any link they have to a work of mine was made during private and public crossover discussions.

that being said, i no longer wish to be associated with maddie in any capacity, and would greatly appreciate it if they stopped. this is not okay. those are my characters.

any further posts about my ocs by them are not authorised by me. any attempt at creating an oc to continue the crossover dynamic will be considered theft.

i.e. should they create a mercenary at jurassic world with tom hiddleston as the fc? that is george, and i am not comfortable with it. a rich gossip girl reboot boy who is of french royalty? with timothée as fc? who winds up with kyla in monaco? that echoes guy lemieux.

i would hope that followers of maddie would be able to identify and know this already, as they have posted the crossovers before with credit provided. but if not, i have the fucking receipts and will call them out on it again.
