The Uses of Pine Sawn Lumber
Pine Sawn lumber is sawn timber from logs of various shapes and sizes. Common lumber products include solid wood beams and more rectangular segments. Buy kiln-dried pine wood online. Sawn pine is an excellent choice for the timber industry and is produced from wood sourced from sustainably managed forests. The order has sawn pine wood online at affordable prices. Sawn timber is called lumber and/or lumber. Wood waste is largely the result of the rectangular cutting of wood from a round, tapered log.
We offer a wide range of hardwoods and softwoods; the boards are freshly cut, dried, heat treated, and anti-mildew and beveled, and we can also sell them in different sizes according to the customer's specifications. Pine sawn Lumber, also known as sawn timber, is a type of wood that has been processed into beams and boards, a stage in the sawn timber production process.
Wood may be supplied raw or surface sawn on one or more of its sides. Besides wood pulp, raw wood is the raw material for making furniture and other items that require cutting and shaping. It is available in many species, including hardwoods and softwoods, such as white pine and red pine, due to its low cost.
We are supplying the best quality kiln-dried firewood
Kiln Dried firewood was also used as green firewood, but it solves the problem of high humidity in a different way. Instead of going through a natural air-drying process, kiln-dried wood artificially replicates the process in a large kiln. The kilns for drying firewood basically look like large kilns. After the workers cut the wood to length, they put it in a metal cage and put it in the kiln. The kiln then removes the moisture using a large fan to heat and dry the logs.
And the large size of the furnace allows you to dry several logs at once. All the logs we sell here at Zilka Biomass Energy are kiln-dried. This means their moisture content has been controlled in a controlled manner to between 10-15% by the weight of the wood, which is considered extremely low by industry standards.
This makes them ideal for burning in wood-burning stoves and open fireplaces, where they light easily and burn long and hot without the smoke and soot produced by high-moisture wood. Call us today if you need the best quality Klin Spiced Firewood at the best price.

Bringing a niche product to a mass market
Read the full story from Green Building Advisor. Reclaimed lumber is a niche business. The average homeowner looking to tear up carpeting in place of floorboards or build a new deck isn’t searching their local listings for salvaged boards of rough-sawn red oak or heart pine. They’re going with a local contractor, who is shopping at Home Depot stores, which are typically nowhere near a native…

It's always a surprise when I open up a log. Rescued two logs that were from a tree over 100 years old...probably a sapling at re end of the Longleaf Pine lumber boom circa 1870 to 1920. The rot appears to be from a fire when the tree was 10 to 20 years old. The quarter sawn wood will make a nice table top.

Wood Used by San Group Logging and Harvesting
San Cedar Direct is a subsidiary of San Group, a global forest products company, founded in 1979. San Group provides Canadian made forest products to over 25 countries worldwide.
The most important factor that determines the parameters of lumber is the raw material. Logging is the initial stage in the cycle of woodworking production, the physical characteristics of the harvested forest directly affect the reliability, durability and aesthetic appeal of timber structures. The San Cedar Group harvests timber for sawn timber production at its own base located in BC and Alberta. The annual harvesting volume is up to 15,000 cubic meters of timber. We carry out a careful selection of raw materials for the production of timber, a guarantee of product quality is the impeccable reputation of the company. Harvesting and deep processing of wood is provided by San Cedar Direct in their own stores. It is the main supplier of sawn timber, joinery, laminated veneer lumber blanks. The company leases 35,000 hectares of forest in the region, where it harvests spruce and pine saw logs in a 50/50 ratio. Almost the entire volume of raw materials, which is 180 thousand m3, is harvested in winter. In winter, sap flow practically stops in the trees, the amount of free moisture is minimal, which has a positive effect on further wood processing. In the process of drying, sawn timber deforms less, cracks less, sawn timber is of a higher quality in comparison with products obtained from saw logs harvested in the summer.
From Harvest to Home, San Group is a company that prides itself in exporting 100% Canadian made products to international markets and was named British Columbia’s 2018 Exporter of the Year.
Wood used by San Group
Red Canadian cedar is recognized as the best wood in the world for the construction of unique hand-cut wooden houses. San Group has 30+ years of experience in harvesting and manufacturing red Canadian cedar. San Group provides Canadian made forest products to over 25 countries worldwide.
San Group is working with the highest grade of Canadian red cedar, also called "old-growth cedar". The average age of each specimen is about 250 years, the annual rings in such logs are very dense, the color of the old-growing cedar varies from beige to dark red and even brown. That's very beautiful! Such a cedar grows at the highest points, high in the mountains. For cedar felling, special stations are used; for selected cedar, helicopter logging is also used.
Logging & Harvesting
San Group’s cutting and logging techniques consists of the following stages:
first, the falling is performed - the process of cutting down tree trunks;
At the next stage, the tree trunk is cleared of branches and twigs;
Crosscutting is the marking and division of the trunk in the transverse plane. The purpose of this process is to divide wood into assortments, such as churak, ridge or log. The best raw material suitable for the production of lumber is obtained from the butt and middle parts of the whip;
The next stage is skidding - the process of transporting treated trunks for loading. Produced within the cutting area;
Sorting of assortments and their storage, stacking are carried out on the territory of the logging base.
Bucking work is the central and most important operation carried out in a felling area. The cutting of the trunk (whip) into assortments is carried out in strict accordance. The feasibility of the further use of wood depends on the physical parameters of the harvesting, such as the presence of defects, the level of tapering, that is, the natural narrowing of the trunk, the type of wood.
In parallel San Group manufactures beams, plywood, sauna boards, decking, siding, fencing, interior cladding and other lumber parts from forest products.
The requirements for the quality of houses are constantly increasing. High standards are ensured by the use of wood of the highest grades. Own harvesting, logging, sawmill and woodworking production facilities allow the San Group of companies to meet the expectations of our customers in terms of the quality of wooden structures and parts.

The Way To Recognize Different Wood Species: Information To The Most Common Types
youtube
We all love normal materials--and wood is no exception. It is versatile, expressive, and also can be properly used for all from structural supports and floor coverings to living area tables and fragile doorknobs. When it's sourced from sustainable woods or reclaimed from current buildings, it can be painted, stained, or left natural. Because of those numerous treatment choices, it might be especially hard --though not almost not possible! to determine certain types or species of timber.
What's more, no two pieces are exactly alike, as wood is fibrous and grows in a reaction to its instantaneous local weather and spot. This only compounds the troubles associated with distinctive wood types. However, there certainly are a number of essential standards to look for in wooden identification. We undertake a few techniques to recognize a few of the most common species of timber from the United States with sight. For more information concerning vintage furniture: visit website.
To begin with , make certain you're taking a look at a solid parcel of timber, rather than some veneer applied into plywood or MDF, or maybe a stamped object of fiber board --this really is crucial to timber identification! You can achieve so by looking at the edges of the piece and visiting the end grain fits up using the direction of the grain together the surface of the wood. In case it appears that the very same pattern repeats it self on all sides of the plank, then you're not appearing at wooden.
Second, take in to consideration whether the piece of wood you're taking a look at is stained or weathered, considering that these methods change the visible overall look of this wood and may make it tricky to see its true colour, grain direction, and makeup. As they truly are porous, many woods require stain very well. Plus, quite a few forests, such as cedar and pine, have a tendency to turn into a homogenous coloring when left out. Ordinarily, just a little bit of sanding moves a ways in revitalizing wood whose floor physical appearance was shifted --and it's a lot easier to identify that the timber along with its own grain.
At this time you need to be prepared to search for a couple crucial faculties of timber: its color, kind of grain (possibly straight, knotty, or inter-locking ), and if it truly is ring-porous (at which in fact the growth bands reveal up as dark rings across the wood) or even diffuse-porous. Here is things to look for when pinpointing pine, oak, maple, walnut, cherry, birch, cedar, poplar, ash, and Douglas fir.
Pine
Pine has turned into the most typical and ample type of wood furniture from United States, also there are scores of unique species of walnut. It truly is relatively simple to identify this type of timber on account of the frequent presence of black knots as well as its own distinct yellow color (although this could on occasion lean more towards pale yellow or pale brown, depending on the precise species). In addition, it has a straight grain and can be ring-porous, or so the growth rings at the grain appear as darker brownish lines around. Because of the variations from the grain--that the visible growth rings and also the knots--it brings it self to an even rustic, casual look.
Oak
Oak is actually another common form of wood North America. Of those greater than 600 species of pine which you can get in the world, one of probably the most readily available are red oak and white oak. Both varieties have been light brown in colour, although crimson pine usually includes hints of red, and both have observable growth rings and directly egg whites.
There are few knots in red and white walnut, however a distinctive feature that makes it effortless to spot the species is observable in a particular cut of this wood, termed quarter-sawn, exactly where it exhibits strong flecks of beams. All these flecks can make amazing, strange designs with a reflective caliber and give a lot of personality to some space or design.
Maple
Once you hear walnut, you may be considering the identifying pine tree, or walnut syrup, however, the timber species of walnut is obviously sold beneath 2 distinct types: tender walnut and challenging maple.
Ultimately, Douglas fir is actually a rather common soft-wood --a word which is maybe not reflective of its durability or density, but alternatively of its position for being a conifer. Amazingly, Douglas fir is not an actual fir, but contains its own genus. It is known if you are exceptionally inflexible and powerful to its weightreduction, and therefore it truly is a priceless kind of industrial lumber.

Verstas Architects evokes island landscapes with Helsinki Biennial Pavilion
Finnish practice Verstas Architects has created a circular timber pavilion at Helsinki's South Harbour, forging a connection between the city and the nearby island of Vallisaari.
Verstas Architects built the pavilion to serve as an entry point to the Helsinki Biennial art festival, which was held on Vallisaari island from June to September 2021, and it has now become a permanent addition to the city.
The Helsinki Biennial Pavilion is a circular timber structure located at the city's South Harbour
Tickets for the Biennial are sold from the pavilion, which sits at Lyypekinlaituri, South Harbour, and the ferry to the island of Vallisaari departs from an adjoining pier.
The pavilion's shape and materiality reference the natural landscape of Vallisaari as well as the sea between it and Helsinki.
The pavilion is made of timber and was assembled in situ from prefabricated modules
The circular shape is a nod to Vallisaari's ponds and "giant's kettles" pothole formations, while the timber walls are meant to recall the island's cliffs as well as the hulls of old wooden ships, some of which can be seen moored at South Harbour.
The pavilion features an inner courtyard paved with what looks from a distance like stone but, on closer inspection, prove to be crosscut logs.
The pavilion's inner courtyard is paved with silver-hued crosscut logs
"The curved shape echoes the island cliffs that were rounded during the ice age," Verstas Architects partner Ilkka Salminen told Dezeen.
"The centre yard is paved with greyed crosscut logs and white quartz sand that mimic the effect of raindrops rippling on water."
The pavilion's roof slopes down to the ground, providing a deck for visitors to climb
Around it is a partially enclosed space with curved dark pine walls that slope down in one section to form an outer deck that visitors can climb.
"The centre of the pavilion is where you can rest and take a break from the noisy and constantly moving city," added Salminen.
"You are closed off from the city life and you experience only the sea and the sky, enclosed by a huge wooden surface to lean your back on."
The exterior of the pavilion is clad with pine battens that are stained dark with a mix of tar and linseed oil
The pavilion is made from prefabricated modules constructed from glue-laminated timber frames, with steel ties and laminated veneer lumber cladding.
These are clad in fine-sawn pine battens that have been steam-bent into curving shapes and stained dark with a mix of tar and linseed oil.

Inside, the natural light wood colour is maintained with an oil treatment, and a series of triangular frames at different angles form a curved corridor with a pitched roof.
Verstas Architects chose to build with wood because, as well as being the traditional material for buildings and boats in the area, it is environmentally sustainable and long-lasting in the northern climate.
Visitors can take shelter, rest and wait for ferries inside the pavilion
The modules were built in a carpenter's workshop in a nearby harbour town where the fabrication process was guided by a digital 3D building model, before being shipped to the site for installation.
The interior of the pavilion contains a ticket sales and visitor information desk, while a simple rectangular volume next to it houses ancillary spaces.
The open-air courtyard provides a place for gathering and reflection
The Helsinki Biennial Pavilion was commissioned by the City of Helsinki's Urban Environment Division as part of a strategy to make the city's archipelago more accessible.
Spanning 187 square metres, the pavilion provides a visible anchor for the Biennial in the city.
The wooden exterior of the pavilion resembles the hull of an old ship
Although the original intention was to dismantle the pavilion in between Biennials and store the modules at Vallisaari, the City of Helsinki and Verstas Architects have decided to leave it at South Harbour for the foreseeable future.
"It was quickly realised that the pavilion has a much bigger role to play if left to stand in place all year round," said Verstas Architects.

Helsinki calls for proposals to transform Makasiiniranta port into cultural precinct
"It provides a place for people to hang out by the sea," the studio added.
"One can rest on the sloping auditorium-like space observing the colourful marketplace or seek shelter under the tent-like roof."
The pavilion was built for the Helsinki Biennial art festival but will remain in place year-round
The pavilion is located near the forthcoming Makasiiniranta port development at South Harbour, which will include a new architecture and design museum.
It was also the site of the scrapped proposal for a Guggenheim museum, with the City of Helsinki deciding to instead support a local institution for the site.
Verstas Architects was founded in 2004 by Salminen with Väinö Nikkilä, Jussi Palva and Riina Palva. The practice has recently been nominated for the Finnish Wood Award and EU Mies Award for the Helsinki Biennial Pavilion.

DIY Raised Bed Garden Boxes – Strong, Beautiful, And Easy To Build!
If you are looking for a way to add gardening space without having a “traditional” garden, these inexpensive, easy to make DIY Raised Bed Garden Boxes are the answer!
Created easily from ordinary 2×4 and 2×6 lumber, these attractive beds look great anywhere. Even better, at 3′ wide x 6′ long x 18″ deep, they allow a lot of space for growing.
You're reading: DIY Raised Bed Garden Boxes – Strong, Beautiful, And Easy To Build!
Simple and inexpensive to create, these sturdy raised beds allow plenty of room for growing your favorite plants. In addition, their attractive design fits into any outdoor space.
Raised beds and containers are an excellent method for growing vegetables, herbs and flowers. Especially if you don’t have the room or time to tend to a large backyard garden.
Not only do they fit easily into smaller yards or on patios, they are extremely low maintenance. In addition, by their very design, the “raised” nature of the beds allow for easier access for planting, watering and harvesting.
The raised bed boxes are great by themselves, or the perfect compliment to our bucket planter boxes pictured above. Either way, it is a great way to grow without a traditional garden.
But perhaps best of all, raised beds require far less weeding and maintenance than a traditional garden. And wait until you see how easy they are to build!
DIY Raised Beds
Last year, when we introduced our 2×4 5 Gallon Bucket Planters, we never imagined how many people would discover container gardening.
Read more: How Much Topsoil Do You Need for a Great Garden? | RELS
So much so, that many asked if we could create a raised bed design to match that would allow for even more simple, low-maintenance growing.
At 18″ deep, the Raised Beds allow plenty of soil depth for strong root growth. The height also makes it easy to maintain the beds without having to bend all the way down to the ground.
So we went to work on designing something that would be easy to build and easy on the budget. In addition, we wanted it to be able to look great by itself, or with the bucket planters too!
Each 3′ x 6′ raised bed allows for 18 square feet of planting surface. They are perfect for growing vegetables, greens, planting an herb garden, or growing all kinds of flowers.
The 18″ depth of the unit allows for deep roots, which is ideal for growing large vegetables like heirloom tomatoes and peppers. Build several together, and you can have quite the outdoor garden!
The raised beds, much like our 5 gallon bucket planter boxes pictured above, is another great way to grow vegetables and flowers without a traditional garden.
How To Create The DIY Raised Beds
The raised beds are easy to create with the most basic of tools. In fact, all you need is a tape measure, a drill, drill-driver and a saw. (You can see the complete step by step plans in our Etsy shop here : DIY Raised Bed Plans)
The beds use just (3) 2 x 6 x 12’s, (2) 2 x 6 x 10’s, and (5) 2 x 4 x 8 boards to create the entire unit. Although traditional untreated lumber works great, you can also substitute rough-sawn or even cedar if you wish.
To create the garden boxes, three frames are created and then stacked together. The raised bed box is then assembled with 2 x 4 bed posts and an attractive top cover.
We prefer using traditional lumber and untreated rough-sawn simply for cost. And because neither contain harmful additives, there are no worries when growing vegetables or herbs.
As for the long term durability of untreated pine, it actually holds up reall well over time. Especially if you stain, seal or paint the exterior edges that do not come in contact with the soil.
Rough-sawn wood will even add a longer shelf life. The non-smooth surface is a naturally protective barrier that holds up even longer to the elements.
Read more: 37 Garden Border Ideas To Dress Up Your Landscape Edging
Rough-sawn wood adds an extra layer of protection that can keep it from rotting out for a longer period of time. The rustic look also goes well in gardens.
With the thick 2x construction, these DIY raised beds will hold up for years and years. Unfortunately, many of the raised beds available in stores use 1x material, which simply won’t hold up well over time.
Completing The Project
After cutting all of the lumber to size, assembling it together is a snap. The 2×6 boards are placed together into a rectangle, and 2×4’s are then attached around all of the corners and mid-sections.
To complete it all, a 2×4 decorative top rail is placed on top! Not only does it serves as a nice finish for the piece, it also helps shed water off of the exposed leg posts, helping to keep the piece stronger over time.
You can then paint, stain, or leave the exterior of the DIY Raised Bed Boxes to weather to a natural grey. Then, simply fill them with soil and organic matter – and plant away.
Here is to creating your own DIY raised beds – and growing like never before next year! Happy Container Growing – Jim & Mary

The best things to consider when buy Pellets De Madeira and Pine Sawn Lumber
Pellets De Madeira, or wood pellets, has become a popular fuel for heating homes and businesses. They are durable and cost-effective, and pellet boilers have made their combustion as efficient and clean as possible. Pellets De Madeira is a biomass fuel. Pellets De Madeira are made either from wood chips (sawdust, shavings and cutting waste, which are by-products of woodworking) or from freshly cut wood, specially cut for the production of wood pellets.
This includes compressed biomass, typically obtained from the recycling of sawn timber, construction and agricultural milling by-products such as chips, shavings and sawdust. Wood pellets, which produce much less carbon than fossil fuels, are considered a sustainable and renewable energy source.
They are also more efficient than raw biomass due to their low moisture content and higher density. High temperatures are used to dry the material and then it is compressed in apelletize. The process uses organic binders (lignin) naturally occurring in wood, so no artificial additives are needed. The final product is a uniform pellet, usually 6 mm in diameter, which is used in households.
This size makes this biomass fuel product easy to transport, handle and store. The moisture content of Pellets De Madeira is usually below 8%. The Pellets De Madeira sold by Zilka Biomass Energy is made from sustainably harvested softwood. We have the best quality Madeira Pellets at the best price. So visit our website and order online if you need Madeira Pellets at the best price.
What are the advantages of Pellets De Madeira?
Thanks to the high combustion efficiency and density, pellets produce few particulate emissions and air pollutants.
Modern biomass boiler systems are clean, efficient and easy to adjust.
Madeira pellets are easy and neat to store and transport in convenient bags.
Madeira pellets and locally sourced or produced materials provide local communities with jobs and business opportunities in manufacturing facilities, transportation, forest resources, etc.
If stored properly away from moisture and humidity (preferably indoors or in airtight containers), wood pellets will last forever.
Pellets De Madeira is eligible for the Renewable Heat Incentive System, which aims to promote the use of renewable energy in households through financial support.
Wood pellets produce a gentle and even heat for a long time with little effort.
The Best Things to know about Pine Sawn Lumber
Pine Sawn Lumber is light and low density, which is why it has been used as "travel furniture" for centuries. From suitcases to tent seats, consider pine if you have a project that needs to be moved regularly. Pine wood is resistant to moisture, impacts and adverse conditions that can seriously damage a regular wood product.
Due to its smooth surface and texture, the product is in high demand in the market. In addition, our pine wood is available in various block sizes. At Zilka Biomass Energy, our pine wood is particularly suitable for windows, doors, log houses, carpentry, planed wood, high-quality solutions, finger joints, clapboards, heat-treated wood and packaging industry applications.
The most important features of our pine wood are
high kernel content
tight growth rings and regular nodal frequency
uniform quality and appearance
uniform humidity
Pine Sawn Lumber is produced in our sawmills in Brazil using wood from sustainably managed forests.

Wood Flooring
Choosing and Installing Wood Flooring The home which we recently completed at 244 Putnam Avenue chose to celebrate the original materials such as pine. We chose to elevate the use of the woods such as pine by utilizing higher grade cuts and finishes, and layouts. We chose rift and quartered pine flooring in lieu of the standard flat sawn flooring for the home to elevate the quality and aesthetic. Flat sawn lumber which is the most common type of lumber used for flooring and cabinetry cuts the log in slices. It is easier and more economical to cut. Rift and quartered wood cuts the log in pie slices. Not only is it more difficult and time consuming to cut but there is more waste ergo more costly planks. The wood has beautiful stripes and at times vibrating wiggles through it and is more durable than flat sawn wood. For the parlor level we chose a more expensive reclaimed vertical pine from Provenance Floors which is an old hard wood reclaimed from beams that were cut in the 18th century from old growth pine. It has a mellow turmeric tone to it. We chose 3" wide planks laid in a diagonal further enhancing the beautifully of the vertical lines. The perimeter was framed with four boards which then formalized and gave each space its proper definition. For the upper levels, and the garden floor apartment, due to budget consideration, we chose a new vertical pine. Since the wood comes from young tees it is lighter, softer yellow tone and the vertical lines are broader. This wood wasmin a 4" width as the lines are much broader. We worried about combining the two woods due to their different tone and grain but they married perfectly. The floors were finished with Bona Matte sealer and are such a pleasure to walk barefoot on. They feel like smooth cool velvet.

Synopsis : ^DOWNLOAD P.D.F.# 2018 International Building Code [R.A.R]
This code applies to all buildings except detached one- and two-family dwellings and townhouses up to three stories. The 2018 IBC contains many important changes such as: Accessory storage spaces of any size are now permitted to be classified as part of the occupancy to which they are accessory. New code sections have been introduced addressing medical gas systems and higher education laboratories. Use of fire walls to create separate buildings is now limited to only the determination of permissible types of construction based on allowable building area and height. Where an elevator hoistway door opens into a fire-resistance-rated corridor, the opening must be protected in a manner to address smoke intrusion into the hoistway. The occupant load factor for business uses has been revised to one occupant per 150 square feet. Live loads on decks and balconies increase the deck live load to one and one-half times the live load of the area served. The minimum lateral load that fire walls are required to resist is five pounds per square foot. Wind speed maps updated, including maps for the state of Hawaii. Terminology describing wind speeds has changed again with ultimate design wind speeds now called basic design wind speeds. Site soil coefficients now correspond to the newest generation of ground motion attenuation equations (seismic values). Five-foot tall wood trusses requiring permanent bracing must have a periodic special inspection to verify that the required bracing has been installed. New alternative fastener schedule for construction of mechanically laminated decking is added giving equivalent power-driven fasteners for the 20-penny nail. Solid sawn lumber header and girder spans for the exterior bearing walls reduce span lengths to allow #2 Southern Pine design values.

Why is Lumber Best for Big and Small Building Projects?
Lumber is that sawn wood that is used specifically for use in structures, There are various standards for lumber that allow its use in construction with the same results and guarantees as any other material used for structures, but also because it is wood, it offers sustainability, easy use and speed of installation and adaptability to any circumstance.
Lumber is an organic material mainly made up of cellulose and lignin. Lumber is divided according to its botanical origin and species, some with denser and more complex structures (hardwoods) and others with lower density and less complex structures (softwoods). Pine wood is usually lighter and easier to process, so it is more useful than other species.
Forms of Lumber

Treated pine wood is a product that is born from a controlled process, in which a chemical is injected by pressure, after all the moisture has been extracted from the wood. This process gives the treated wood enough resistance to remain in the open (resistance to Sun and Water).

Top Uses
Dimensional lumber is remarkably versatile and is usable in both small projects like making stools and the major ones like constructing posts-and-beams. It is imperative that you choose the size you need keenly and in consideration of the project at hand. Here are some of the top uses of dimensional lumber:
Wall framing for single and multi-family homes
Wall framing for both multi-family and single-family homes is by far the most popular use of dimensional lumber. For the framework of your room, you will require dimensional lumber of 2 x 4. However, framing does not just stop at coming up with the framework of the room. It also entails nailing the wallboard, which requires the use of 4 X 4 lumber. You will also need 1 x 2 for creating the frame. Note that only the lightwood lumber of below 4.5″ are used in residential framing.
Paneling wall
Wall paneling is also among the top uses of dimensional lumber and it requires the 6 X 12 or 8X 12 planks. However, there are different kinds and sizes of paneling, which means you will need to make a choice, basing on what you need. But, the wider the planks the better the outcome you will get in terms of aesthetics and finishing.
Making furniture
Dimensional lumber also does a great job with furniture and cabinets. Starting with the outdoor furniture, you can use dimensional lumber to make tops of outdoor stools. For such, 4 X 4 and 6 X 6 will give you the best functionality.
Getting indoors, the larger planks of dimensional lumber are used in making large cabinets and dressers. The sizes are all different depending on the size of the furniture you need.

This task requires heavy and large dimensional lumber. The best results, in this case, can be achieved by the use of over 4.5″ post-and-beam construction. Such dimensional lumbers are quite robust and can hold up to heavy-weight loads. The best part about these is that they are hardly susceptible to water damage, thanks to the thickness and toughness.
These are just but the top uses of dimensional lumber. There are other minor yet important applications not captured above. Lastly, dimensional lumbers are the same. However, the processing of different manufacturers differ. The prices are also different but you can always get better deals with the likes of Sherwood Lumber among other distributors.
Flooring and ceiling
This is another common and significant use of dimensional lumber, specifically the 6 X 12 or 8 X 12. They are sturdy enough to give the floor adequate robustness. However, this only works best for the light-duty areas. You will need to additionally use smaller pieces of 4 x 4 to create frames and brackets in case you are working on heavy-duty areas. 6 X 6 can also be useful in such instances. For the ceiling corners, you can always use metal brackets, which are not only strong but are also resistant to rot. The use of the metals will ensure high longevity and less need for repairs.
Besides the common flooring, dimensional lumber is as well useful in hardwood flooring. However, the kind of dimensional lumber necessary for hardwood flooring is very rare. But, you can find it in major wood distributor companies; of course with a pre-order.

Also, if you need a natural elegance appeal, you will want to go with the rough lumber instead of the treated version.

Week 12 - Structure and Detailing
I’ve been looking at so many things to work the structure out, the pile of paper just gets bigger and bigger as I was having some difficulties to figure it out. Ceili kindly helped me understand so I can have a solid project.
For the structure I will use Clear Timber Radiata Pine, free of knots and blemishes, used for high-quality joinery and furniture.
New Zealand pine is a light coloured, medium density softwood with a moderately even texture that produces sawn lumber with excellent working properties. Sawn NZ timber dries easily and can be kiln dried rapidly from green. The wood can be readily treated with preservative to achieve all desired durability levels.
Through good silviculture management, New Zealand pine logs come in a range of qualities capable of yielding lumber grades to meet almost any requirement. (https://www.nztif.co.nz/buying-nz-timber/)
