I swear, before Flower, there was some kind of Vocaloid to gender queer awaking pipeline and I'm pretty sure it a lot of it has to do with Len because-
Len and Rin being stated that they are neither siblings, nor lovers, but as "two bodies with one soul". Hmmm.
Being the target for a lot of feminizination (arguably, some of which was sus behavior on the fandom's part) and similar gnc stuff.
If memory serves me correctly, a lot of popular covers of Len songs were mainly being sung by female singers with deep voices. (I swear if young girl fans were not crushing over Len, they were definitely crushing over the women covering his songs).
It shames me that I do not remember their names although I'm pretty sure several became big after that because you can't tell me those singers were not iconic enough to gain a larger following.
The Lady Oscar and Takarazuka Revue vibes from Daughter/Servant of Evil. Oh... see it now...
And for Rin's sake, because she doesn't seem get as much credit as Len does with A LOT of these things, I'm just going to mention Alluring Secret ~Black Vow~ because YEAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
And later on the same producer would make Alice in N.Y.
#YES I remember Magnet but I am talking about GENDER here so hear me out#Vocaloid#len kagamine#rin kagamine#r0bita rambles#rainb0w rambles#I'm sure there's a different vocaloid that did it for somebody but I can't help but think of Len and by extension Rin in this case#Piko is a close second but he isn't as prominent#the UTAUs tho. yeah... I'd say they probably had some influence too...
