If Netflix Avatar actually wanted to do one (1) actual cool feminist change to the original show, then they should make Piandao a woman instead.

Like. Okay. By that point in the show, Sokka's feminist character arc is pretty well established. He drinks his Respect Women Juice now. He doesn't need to learn to listen to a lady teacher a second time, he did that already, it's fine. But it would have been a pretty neat through-line, that he left the South Pole all macho-macho-man and ends up, instead, learning all his warrior skills from women. It would have been cool! Sokka and his badass lady teachers!

Besides, it would bring much needed gender diversity to the Order of the White Lotus, which is much too dudely as it presently stands.
