Nestled on the serene shores of Phu Quoc island, the Phu Quoc Prison History Museum carries a haunting legacy of suffering and resilience. Once a site of immense brutality during the Vietnam War, it now stands as a solemn memorial, bearing witness to the atrocities endured by prisoners of war.
When French colonists built the prison in 1949, it was used as a place to detain political dissidents. During the Vietnam War, it was used to hold prisoners of war, largely Viet Cong and North Vietnamese soldiers. Today, the former prison is home to a small museum. Its exhibits offer a poignant narrative, intertwining the island's natural beauty with the scars of history, inviting visitors to reflect on the enduring human spirit amidst adversity.

Oh a fellow person who is scared of spiders! Naru, hi!
Like yeah, I agree with you, if there is spider in the room I'm out of there getting my sibling or mom to deal with it. I don't think I have had an event that made me scared of them, but God, I remember I was visiting my grandma in Vietnam, and then we decided to celebrate New Year at the Phu Quoc island, and the first thing I saw after the dinner was gigant spider, like it's legs were sooo long God... (like it was small but legs were long and thin)... I have never seen such spider back at home in Europe. I screamed so hard that my sibling ran from another floor to see what was happening, but then when my parents came, spider ran away. It was first and the last time I saw such big spider, but like, nah you know what NO MORE SPIDERS IN MY LIFE PLEASE
Sorry for rambling! Oh and may I ask, can I draw your OC? They look amazing, and I thought that if my OC met yours they would become friends
oH HELLO THERE FELLOW VIET LET'S SHAKE HANDS LMFAO-
I recently visisted Phu Quoc when I went to Vietnam to visit family back in June! Although we stayed at a pretty high end hotel and just visited the Phu Quoc jail before going to the amusement park there hehe (besides being dragged to some sort of beach club for my cousin to enjoy some laughing gas-)
Funnily enough, the most amount of insects I had to fight while in Vietnam wasn't the amount of geckos or spiders, rather it was the abnormally large fcking grasshoppers (or was it locusts-) BUT EITHER WAY THOSE WERE GIANT AND NOT A PLEASANT MEMORY
also don't be sorry for rambling! i love talking to ya'll hehe! but of course you can draw the lil pinkie, the fact you already want to draw them is already an honor tbh! while i don't have a coherent backstory for my oc i just know they showcase themselves as a very pleasant person so i bet those two would get along well if you want to tell me more about ur oc (─‿‿─)♡

Phu Quoc and Ho Chi Minh City
After leaving Singapore I returned to Vietnam to travel around and see more of the country that I’m calling home for the next few months.
I started in Phu Quoc, an island in the South of Vietnam located off the shores of Cambodia. I stayed in Duong Dong, which is the centrally located main town on the island. I think if I returned I would stay in a different area, however, as Duong Dong was more touristy and kind of gave me Myrtle Beach vibes. The beach there was still nice to go and this is where the Phu Quoc Night Market is located. The best street food I’ve had so far in Vietnam was at this night market. They have fresh seafood spreads that they grill in front you, fresh fruit juices and smoothies, and much more. There was one crepe stand that I really liked. Street food is a big part of Vietnamese culture and one shouldn’t shy away from trying it while here.
Phu Quoc was really just a relax at the beach kind of trip, rather than sightseeing as I have been doing. I mostly stayed at the pool and beach access by my hotel, but I did make it across the island to the fishing town of Ham Ninh. There wasn’t much there except for some seafood restaurants that were suspended over the water on piers, but I did stop in one to enjoy some fresh clams and look out at the open ocean.
In general Phu Quoc was okay for a few days of relaxation by the beach and eating great seafood. And the one highlight of Duong Dong was that I could watch the sun rise over the mountains and set over the ocean, which was a beautiful way to start and end my day.

Phu Quoc was a short plane ride away from my next destination: Ho Chi Minh City/Saigon. While it’s official name is Ho Chi Minh City, a lot of people still call it Saigon and it’s airport code is even “SGN”. A lot of businesses there also use Saigon in their name.
HCMC is the most populous city in Vietnam and has a much bigger city feel. I think it is also more popular for tourists and expats, as I saw a lot more foreigners around than in Hanoi.
I spent a lot of time just walking around seeing the city. Singapore softened me so I had to reacclimate to Vietnamese traffic. As a pedestrian in cities here you have to always be on high alert as you never know where a car or motorbike will appear from. My first day in Saigon I bent down to tie my shoe and was nearly grazed by a BMW driving down the sidewalk. Despite this I was still able to make my way around to a lot of good spots around the city.

For my last day in Ho Chi Minh I booked a guided tour of Mui Ne, a beach town about a five hour bus ride from the city. The many hours in the bus were worthwhile, as Mui Ne was absolutely beautiful. Our group’s guides took as around in Jeeps to all the main spots in the area. We walked along the Fairy Stream, stopped by a fishing village, rode ATVs around the white sand dunes, and watched the sunset from the red sand dunes. Every stop was great and I took so many photos. Mui Ne is definitely an underrated area in Vietnam that I’m glad I was able to see.

I still have an entire week (!) off of class, so my travels will continue.

The development of the casino industry and curb illegal activities by allowing locals to gamble at gambling houses in Vietnam.
The JLL expert team reported significant economic growth as Vietnam relaxed local regulations on domestic gambling, which have been in place since early this year. He explained that strong regulations would only create a wave of illegal activities and promote shady business throughout the country. In addition, it is in the nation's financial interest to regulate the market to locals, as it will prevent income outflows and further promote economic growth.
Currently, the government allows locals to visit two gambling venues, the Pudon Islands and the Phu Quoc Islands, but plans to add Hotram's third allowed gambling venues to the aforementioned two to further develop the game industry and raise the national budget.
The announcement boosted the appetite of some of the largest international operators, including Las Vegas Sands, as well as local Sun Group. The latter was reported as the only operator allowed to establish a gaming facility in Van Don. In a recently released JLL report, the company said the number of hotels that install game consoles continues to increase.
Frank Sorgiovanni, head of JLL APAC, pointed to Melco Crown Philippines as a role model. He added that the key to success is the right business strategy because Vietnam is a country with good prospects for becoming a major tourist destination. He explained that operators should benefit from the favorable conditions offered by the country. Sorgiovanni explained the bright future of the country's game industry.실시간 바카라사이트
Officials consider allowing Vietnamese to gamble at certain gambling venues in the country as a strategic move, which the government is considering responsible gambling problems by boosting the economy, curbing the spread of illegal activities across the country, and limiting the number of gambling venues that locals can visit.
Experts explain that because the Vietnamese government is liberal about its country, it is effectively dealing with illegal activities while enjoying economic benefits. Although Vietnam has gone through a long and bumpy journey to major casino development, it should be noted that the market is developing at a rapid pace.
