PhillyCAM internet radio is here! On October 23, 2015, PhillyCAM celebrates our six year anniversary with the launch of our internet radio station.

The launch of the internet radio stream will feature select shows like: Keith Brand Variety Show, Turning Life's Corners with Daryl Lloyd, Selby Signature Show with Derwood Selby, and Cindy Ortiz Live! It is truly an exciting time for community media.

Such events are relevant in this day and age, as Philadelphia was the last major city to get public access media. After a 27 year long struggle led by community advocates and leaders, PhillyCAM successfully opened its doors in 2009, now cablecasts thousands of hours of programming from the community, and has trained hundreds in media production.  Fast forward to 2015, PhillyCAM was awarded a construction permit to broadcast on 106.5 FM in Philadelphia. Currently, we have been working to train radio producers and build a community of volunteers who can help maintain radio standards, work as content producers, increase radio members, and create radio programming. In the next 8 months, we’ll continue growing our radio station and working to be on the FM airwaves by summer of 2016!

In the meantime, we will hear from the following PhillyCAM members who have created content for the launch of our internet radio station:

KEITH BRAND Keith Brand is currently the Chair of the Radio Television and Film Program at Rowan University in Glassboro NJ and is currently writing a book about community radio in America.  He is also the Co-Chair of the Board of Directors for PhillyCAM.

CINDY ORTIZ

Cindy Ortiz is the President of La Placita Wellness and Education Center, Inc. Cindy recently published:  What's Eating You Kid? She is producing a radio show at PhillyCAM called “Cindy Ortiz Live” to promote unsung Latino musicians and artists in Philadelphia.  The show features Latino artists and musicians from Philly, cover community events, social issues and a health and wellness segment under Fitadelphia.

RICKY PAUL

Ricky Paul aka DJ K-Tell is also a board member of DP Arts Consortium, and Vice Chair on the Board of Directors for PhillyCAM, where ”Dumpsta Players Presents” airs on television each week.

DERWOOD SELBY

With his combined interest in television and film production along with radio, the Philadelphia native now hosts “The Selby Signature”, a food and travel television series. On his radio show, he takes to the streets of Philadelphia and Camden with his co-host Jen-Mosa where he talks food, nutrition and wellness while getting the “Culinary-Cultural Pulse of the People.”

DARYL LLOYD

Daryl is president of The Underground Railroad Museum of Burlington County, NJ.; and president and CEO of Turning Life Corners Internet TV Network.
