United States Pluto Return
Pluto sits in the outermost region of our solar system, farthest from the Sun, and the size of this planet doesn't compare to the impact it truly has on humanity. The full effects of Pluto's energy cannot be witnessed immediately, but with time and awareness, we can see the immense transformations this planet causes for the future. Pluto carries the energy of transformation, rebirth, regeneration, endings, and power struggles. Just as much as Pluto governs these aspects of metamorphosis, it also brings about destruction, death, obsessions, crime, and all aspects of things underground or secretly hidden. Pluto is the ruler of the zodiac sign of Scorpio and the 8th house in astrology. Intimate relationships, joint finances, debt, karma, other people's money, shared resources, inheritance, loans, sex, reproductive organs, divination, psychology, and other taboo topics reside in the 8th house and Scorpio.
Ruling our psyches, Pluto asks us to dive into the parts of our subconsciousness to truly build awareness where it's necessary to redeem ourselves and regenerate our souls. Taking 248 years to complete its transit through all twelve zodiac signs, Pluto's Return occurs when Pluto visits the same sign and degree of a person, place, or thing when it is birthed. During a Pluto Return, there is a possibility for upheaval, confronting the shadows, major transformation, karmic debt to be paid, and immense change. Pluto's purpose is to deconstruct what no longer serves us as a whole and bring a new structure into the dynamic. We can see this occurring in history with the falling of several empires during their Pluto Return. The fall of the Roman Empire occurred sometime after its Pluto Return during 216-223 AD. In history, this period is known for massive instability, change, and divisiveness within leadership. The Plutonian power struggles, sex scandals, and religious debates plagued the empire between 218-222 AD while under the ruling thumb of Emperor Elagabalus. The British Empire survived three Pluto Returns dating around 1311-1315, 1555-1562, and 1801-1810.
According to the Declaration of Independence, The United States was born on July 4, 1776, at 5:10 pm in Philadelphia, PA, giving the nation a Cancer Sun, Aquarius Moon, Sagittarius Rising (Placidus). Pluto sits in the second house of finances, values, partnerships, self-worth, and material possessions in the US natal chart. This sector of the chart indicates our earning power, what we find valuable, and the things we acquire throughout life. In the case of the USA, Capricorn occupies the second house giving it a controlled way of financial power. Capricorn governs structure, the government, politics, and restrictions. When we bridge all this information with the understanding that Pluto's return is to conduct some checks and balances within the financial sector of the United States, we see there is a crucial indication for change to come.
Pluto's half return occurred as it transited through the United States' sun sign of Cancer during the 1930s, yep... The Great Depression. Once Pluto entered Capricorn, November 26, 2008, this was the start of our Pluto Return. Several things have occurred, including the election of our first black president and the collapse of our banking system. When Pluto reaches 27 degrees Capricorn, it will trine the North Node in Taurus, which sits in the 6th house of work, acts of service, open enemies, rituals, and routines. Taurus is the ruler of the second house, indicating a genuine shift in this nation's financial structure and a push towards our destined futures as we move into a new age. As the moon moves through the 12th house in Scorpio on February 22, how we find comfort in achieving our goals begins to make the change as we are encouraged to consider the collective. Pluto rules Scorpio, so the expression of this energy is flavored with things coming undone as the 12th house in astrology represents the house of undoing.
Pluto is all about obsessions and control, so when we consider this reassessment of the second house things of America's chart, we come to many questions. Has America's obsession with authority and power come under review now? Also, we are to consider America's misuse of power regarding financial matters. How will these themes play out? There have been many theories and conversations about the "possessions" of America, including the control and possession of the black population, women's reproductive organs, reparations, student loans, and so many other Capricorn/Pluto/Scorpio/Saturn themes. We can see a significant shift in the dynamic of these topics happening in real-time.
As we are closely embarking on the Age of Aquarius, which I like to believe occurs when Pluto enters Aquarius on March 23, 2023, "the underdog now comes on top" seems to be the phrase that comes to mind. The scales tip, showing a change in power dynamics and how power is used altogether. After any Pluto Return, the ways that once were can no longer be after undergoing a radical revision. There is no going back to how this country has operated since the beginning of its creation; this is the turning point!

Transatlantic Cunning: English Magic in Early America
A self-contained one-off class on the folk magic, divination, prophecy, spell-craft and magical practitioners of the early British colonies of the Americas (1500-1700), combining a long-form illustrated lecture with access to full scans of over fifty primary sources cited and explored, with a full set of suggested reading to follow up this class.
The material analyses political and eschatological underpinnings of colonialist expansion, as well as tracking magic books and equipment brought over to the New World in these expansions. This class also discusses reports and integrations of “Indian witchcraft” in the contexts of early modern European occult philosophy and magical practices, particularly focusing on astrological magic and necromancy. It also pays homage to the cunning-folk operating in these early colonies - performing divination and offering magical services to their communities - as the forebears and ancestors of modern practitioners.
From astrology to necromancy and back again, the sixteenth- and seventeenth-century British colonies seemed awash with sorcery. This is a lecture module about the ideas of magic which early modern English colonists brought with them to the Americas: from their preconceptions about Native ritual and “heathenry”, to almanacs of star-lore and prognostication, and from common forms of folk magic and divination to high-brow treatises on alchemy and handbooks based on medieval spirit conjuration.
This lecture is presented by the historian and diviner Dr Alexander Cummins, himself an English magician now living in these United States. Dr Cummins will lead us on an exploration of what early American magicians did and how they went about doing it. Along the way, we will learn about how shadowy colonialist fears were projected onto indigenous peoples and their cultures, as well as much of the necessary background and context of “everyday practical magic” and arch occult philosophy alike.
This class-bundle includes:
An illustrated lecture of 1 hour 48 minutes duration Over 50 primary source documents concerning early modern necromancy Bibliography of further reading
The full list of the primary source documents explored in the lecture and included in the class-bundle runs:

When Department Stores Were Theater
After the hundreds of jobs going poof and the thus-far inadequate discounts, the saddest thing about the closure of Barneys New York is that its signature naughty window displays will recede even further in collective memory.A Hail Mary campaign earlier this year imploring shoppers to go inside even as the store declared bankruptcy (“STRUT STRUT STRUT STRUT STRUT STRUT”) was but a faint echo of the era when subversive tableaus of papier-mâché public figures, found objects, condoms on Christmas trees and the occasional scampering vermin mesmerized crowds, offended cardinals and even sold some clothes. But “we’re in a post-window-display world,” said Simon Doonan, the Barneys O.G. window dresser, in a telephone interview, noting the “impenetrable facade” of Dover Street Market, heir apparent to the luxury avant-garde. Its New York entrance has only small, high apertures above pedestrian eye level.“In the old days, window displays were the primary form of marketing — fashion was the same as butcher shops and fishmongers,” he said. “Now, if you’re waiting till someone walks past your store, you’ve lost the fight.”Indeed, the bustling new Nordstrom on 57th Street dispenses with traditional boxed-in display windows entirely, replacing them with a shallow, wavy facade that John Bailey, a spokesman, assured would be festooned with red and white lights come Black Friday. The facade is “an interactive viewing experience for customers walking by,” he wrote in an email, “connecting the shopping experience in store to the energy of the city.” (And the energy of customers’ phones.) A young employee at the central help desk said elliptically that “our windows are our customer service.”Gather ’round, children, and let Auntie Alexandra tell of when department stores, now mostly glassy, anodyne places you go to exchange online purchases, used to put on a show. Sometimes more entertaining than the theater.First, though, a quick gallop through what remains of New York’s holiday windows in 2019, and the hopeful cornucopias within. At the doomed Barneys flagship on 61st Street, there was of course bubkes, just signs reading: “Everything Must Be Sold! Goodbuys, then Goodbye.” Inside on the fifth floor, female customers were listlessly flipping shoes to glance at the soles and calculate the markdown, as if with muscle memory from the much-lamented warehouse sale. Four creaky flights up, the power lunch spot Fred’s, named for Fred Pressman, Barneys’ charismatic chairman who died in 1996, was full — even as a worker held a headless naked mannequin steady by her neck on a hand truck, waiting for the elevator to go down, down, down.A few blocks away preens Bergdorf Goodman, the beautiful princess whose holding company, Neiman Marcus, muscled recently into the Hudson Yards, like a watchful mother-in-law moving into the guest cottage. There are no old-school windows at the gleaming new Neiman, being that it’s high up off the dirty street in a mall (and incidentally charging kids $72 per head for breakfast with Santa). But at Bergdorf, David Hoey, the store’s senior director of visual presentation, and his team have gamely produced a concept called Bergdorf GoodTimes. Literally gamely. Like, filled with actual games. One window was captioned “Queen’s Gambit” (chess); another, “Jackpot!” (pinball); another, “Winner Take All” (casino — perhaps a dry subconscious commentary on the high-stakes state of retail). Around the corner, a life-size board game, “Up the Down Escalator,” was dotted with fictional gift cards, coin of the online-shopping realm.Mr. Hoey’s sophisticated, colorful creations did not seem intended for little ones — and anyway those were scampering around across the street, splashing in small pools and peering into mirror-glass “sky lenses” outside the Fifth Avenue Apple store. Paging Dr. Lacan!Further east on 59th and Lexington Avenue, dear old Bloomingdale’s was flagrantly violating several of the decorative precepts set out by Mr. Doonan in his seminal 1998 book, “Confessions of a Window Dresser: Tales From a Life in Fashion.” Specifically: “do remember that technology is boring” and “don’t incorporate sex.”If Bergdorf is rolling the dice on the future of the department store — eroded perhaps irrevocably by Amazon’s mighty, corrosive flow — Bloomie’s is searching the stars. Not the celebrities whose daffy effigies used to populate Mr. Doonan’s windows, mostly with enthusiastic cooperation (Madonna, Magic Johnson, Norman Mailer, Prince, Queen Elizabeth), but a lavish commingling of astronomy and astrology titled Out of This World.Robots were placing ornaments on a tree and sitting at a synthesizer ready to play the carol of your choice at the push of a button. Google Nest, a sponsor, was poised to turn on the tree, the lights; the fire. And astronauts were floating in a “3, 2, 1, Gift Off,” or was it a “GIF Off?” Female mannequins embodying various figures of the zodiac were outfitted like go-go dancers, all pearls and feathers and curvature: propped up against each other on a pedestal as a recording played of John Legend singing, incongruously, “Christmas in New Orleans.” Inside, on the main floor, one embodying Cancer the Crab hung upside down from the ceiling: eyes closed, suspended over a hoop, hand-claws splayed, rotating slowly. Her bared, inverted legs conjured less the #MeToo era than the infamous “meat grinder” photo of the June 1978 Hustler magazine that feminists used to protest on Manhattan sidewalks.
Razzle-Dazzle in the Mezzanine
Mr. Doonan had called from Los Angeles, where he was, among other activities, promoting a monograph to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Maxfield, the boutique there. This even though when he was in the window-dressing business, “I was very anti-anniversary and I vetoed all of them. They just made the company seem old and boring. It looks dusty.”Though I agree 100 percent and moreover think the ascription of significance to particular numbers is as ridiculous as astrology, it also happens to be the 40th anniversary of a seismic and undersung event in department-store history: when the performer Elaine Stritch was the M.C. of an elaborate fashion show at Liberty of London, the emporium known for its fine fabrics. (Many women in those years still sewed household clothes from patterns.)Arranged by Peter Tear, then Liberty’s head of marketing and publicity, and choreographed by Larry Fuller of “Evita,” the show somehow managed to cross-promote the low-tar Silk Cut cigarette with a silk congress happening in London. Concordes were deployed with top models on board. Cocktails were concocted by the Café Royal down the road. Fifty-odd designers contributed special outfits for the occasion, including Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Yves Saint Laurent.Another was David Emanuel, who, with his wife and partner, Elizabeth, would design the show’s bridal gown (and later Princess Diana’s).“People gasped,” he said, remembering the Liberty event on a crackly trans-Atlantic phone line. “They were aching for ‘larger than life.’” Mr. Emanuel described Stritch — subject of my recently published biography, “Still Here” (hey, it’s the selling season) — in a sequined tuxedo jacket, singing among other numbers “Falling in Love Again” à la Marlene Dietrich to the enraptured ladies who lunch who had paid five quid admission apiece for the show, which ran thrice daily over the course of a week. “It has more punch and pulchritude packed into its 51 minutes than most West End musicals twice as long,” one newspaper commented.Mr. Doonan theorized that Liberty, fighting a dainty, twin-set image, had taken inspiration from what the storied retailer Marvin Traub was doing then at Bloomingdale’s. “The whole thing was that the store was the stage — the razzle-dazzle of flash and pizazz and lo and behold, there’s a swimwear fashion show with Pat Cleveland coming down the escalator,” he said. “Every day was ‘curtain up!’ at Bloomingdale’s.”Truly, what could be more of an ultimate fantasy set than the department store of yore, with its infinite “costumes,” props and built-in risers, its endless potential for comedy, dance, drama and even horror? Florenz Ziegfeld’s pre-code movie “Glorifying the American Girl,” showcasing his Follies, starts in one. The heroic airman in “The Best Years of Our Lives” returned to work as a soda jerk in another; ennobled by the theater of war, he chafed at his diminishment in the feminine one of trade.Barbra Streisand gamboled through Bergdorf in 1965 for her TV special, trying on fur coats and hats, spritzing perfume and singing a Fanny Brice-ish medley of “Second Hand Rose” and “Brother Can You Spare a Dime” to funny and glamorous effect. James Goldman and Stephen Sondheim’s “Twilight Zone”-inflected broadcast musical, “Evening Primrose,” was set in a department store called Stern’s, and featured a poet played by Anthony Perkins remaining after-hours, giddy at the idea of the creativity that his solitude, enhanced by all the products he needs, will stimulate. At one point he stands on an escalator belting, “I’m here! I’m here!” foreshadowing the famous anthem in Goldman and Sondheim’s own “Follies” taken up late in life by Stritch. (Later a young woman he discovers there sings of remembering snow: “Soft as feathers/ Sharp as thumbtacks.” She had been left there, in Hats, as a child by her preoccupied mother, but now with climate change the lyric sounds like prescient ecological lament.)Even after the fiasco of Andrew McCarthy at Philadelphia’s Wanamaker’s (R.I.P.) in “Mannequin” 20 years later, and the slow creep of the suburban mall, there was yet another remake of “Miracle on 34th Street.”“Where did Auntie Mame go when she lost all her money?” Mr. Doonan reminded. “Selling roller skates at Macy’s.”It’s hard to imagine, though not impossible, that department stores will remain important sites of commerce and culture much longer. But the largest one in the city is not about to go quietly. At Macy’s, which takes up an entire block, there is a jumble of every sort of window. There are old-fashioned windows devoted to the story of Virginia O’Hanlon, the little girl who wrote to The New York Sun in 1897 asking if there was still a Santa Claus. Around the corner, there are high-tech windows giving voice to a little girl who wants to be Santa Claus. And around another corner: still other windows filled simply with giant Barbies. Being female in the early 21st century is nothing if not a series of mixed messages, but this attempt to empower seemed already antiquated; if Mr. Doonan were still working on windows, surely he would have gone straight for Mx. Claus? The ghost of Barneys yet to come is at Saks Fifth Avenue, which has licensed its former rival’s name, and where windows have been themed with glittering corporate efficiency to the international blockbuster “Frozen 2.” This may delight the tourists, but city dwellers remembering the craft and chance and silliness of the old holiday extravaganzas — when the designers and the famous people and the window dressers were all sticking pins in each other, and the audiences crowded four-deep on the pavement for the free sideshow — will probably be left cold. “Love and Humility are the sweet bonds of our marriage:” A Book of Hours owned by the wife of a French Catholic propagandist of the 16th century, and the Governor of Pennsylvania!
Fifty-two discoveries from the BiblioPhilly project, No. 7/52
Book of Hours, Use of Paris, Philadelphia, Philadelphia Museum of Art, 1924‑19‑1, fol. 24r (miniature of the Annunciation from the Hours of the Virgin)
Books of Hours are highly mobile objects that can often accrue fascinating later histories. Because of their deeply personal nature, they can become associated with historical persons either through legend or fact (or a combination of the two). Only relatively rarely, however, does one later owner purchase a book on account of its earlier ownership history. One such example is a fairly modest Parisian Book of Hours acquired by the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 1924 (accession number 1924‑19‑1). Unlike the later ensembles of illuminated manuscripts donated to the museum by Samuel and Vera White or Philip S. Collins, this manuscript was not published or described upon its entry into the collection.[1] Its only existing description comes from Seymour de Ricci’s Census of Medieval and Renaissance manuscripts in the United States and Canada and its later Supplement, produced by C.U. Faye and W.H. Bond.
In both Census volumes, the manuscript’s early provenance with the Duderé family in France is briefly recorded, as is its later ownership in the United States by Samuel W. Pennypacker, 23rd Governor of Pennsylvania (1843–1916), who served from 1903 to 1907 (and to whom we shall return). The Duderé provenance is evident through two unequivocal inscriptions within the manuscript. The first, on folio 1r, reads:
1924‑19‑1, fol. 1r, with ownership inscription of Michelle Duderé dated to 1577
(“This Book of Hours belongs to Lady Michelle du Deré wife of Mr. Louis d’Orléans advocate in the court of Parliament and it descended from her deceased father Mr. Jean Duderé counsellor of the King and auditor in his chamber of accounts. 1577. Love and Humility are the sweet bonds of our marriage.”)
It thus transpires that the book was in the possession of Michelle Duderé, wife of the noted French Catholic League pamphleteer Louis Dorléans (1542–1629).[2] In addition to being known for authoring numerous religious tracts, Dorléans was also an occasional poet, and wrote some bucolic verses replete with thinly-veiled references to his beloved wife, but also to his former mistress Catherine de la Sale![3] Interestingly, some of his writings also show an unusual knowledge of Middle French poetry; he even donated a fourteenth-century French translation of the Golden Legend to a Minim convent in Paris in 1561 (Paris, Bibliothèque Mazarine, ms. 1279). Michelle Duderé, as she herself tells us in the inscription, had inherited the Book of Hours from her father, Jean Duderé, notary and secretary to the French king, whose principal historical importance seems to have been his invocation in a seventeenth-century lawsuit concerning the inheritance of such royal appointments. It appears that the manuscript was then gifted by Michelle Duderé’s blind son to a cousin once-removed, a certain G. Duderé, for on the verso of the first folio we read another French inscription, written some seventy-three years later:
1924‑19‑1, fol. 1r, with ownership inscription of G. Duderé dated to 1650
(“This present book was given to me by the late Monsieur D’Orleans son of Madame D’Orleans named Michelle Dudere. He was blind and worthily bore this affliction, my cousin once removed. G. Dudere 1650… the figures which are on their knees in the pictures of this book are portraits of the deceased demoiselle Michelle de Sauslai [?], mother of my deceased father.”)
1924‑19‑1, fols. 124r and 130r (miniature of the Virgin and Child with Angel with a female donor; miniature of the Trinity with an Angel holding the Crown of Thorns with a female donor)
The supposition that the two donor portraits (on folios 124r and 130r; illustrated above) contained in the book depict a certain “Michelle de Sauslai” (?), grandmother of the owner alive in 1650 is manifestly incorrect, since the book dates from the fifteenth century. But there is no reason to doubt the other pieces of evidence situating the book with the Duderé family early in its history.
Governor Samuel W. Pennypacker (1843–1916)
This is all fine and well, but how did the manuscript come to be owned by the Governor of Pennsylvania, Samuel Pennypacker? Pennypacker was a noted jurist, trustee of the University of Pennsylvania, president of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania, and local history enthusiast who collected a large amount of material related to the early German and Dutch settlement of South-Eastern Pennsylvania, most of which is today preserved at the Pennypacker Mills house museum. Other manuscripts once owned by Pennypacker that are still in Philadelphia include another Book of Hours (Lewis E 116) and a series of astronomical tables followed by a short text concerning astrology and planetary movements (Lewis E 3), both of which are today in the Free Library. These manuscripts were all auctioned off in the Pennypacker sale in 1906, together with a small number of other manuscripts. Additionally, for the present manuscript, the Faye and Bond supplement to de Ricci’s Census includes the name of an additional owner, the noted Chestnut Hill philanthropist, John Story Jenks (1839–1923). Jenks was a great supporter of the Pennsylvania Museum and School of Industrial Art (the precursor of the Philadelphia Museum of Art), as a short obituary confirms.[4] It was he who left the manuscript to the museum upon his death.
Portrait of John Story Jenks (1839–1923) by Alice Mumford Roberts
So why did Governor Pennypacker purchase this particular French Book of Hours, prior to its acquisition and donation by Jenks? The answer is provided in an all-but-forgotten issue of a regional historical journal, The Perkiomen Region, Past and Present, published in March of 1901 by Henry S. Dotterer (1841–1903). The short article, entitled “A Sumptuous Devotional Book,” vividly describes the book and asserts that the Governor:
…purchased it because he felt convinced that the family of Duderé mentioned in the inscription was identical with an old Pennsylvanian family—that of Doderer, Dotterer, Dudderer, Duttera, Dudderow. This conviction induced him to pay the large sum quoted for it by the foreign bookseller [i.e. James Tregaskis of London], and to bring it, after a service of more than three centuries, from its native France to the New World.
To find the connecting links from the Duderés of the Sixteenth century to the Dotterers of the Twentieth century would be a great genealogical achievement. Doderers and Dotterers appear in various parts of Europe prior to the date of the arrival, about 1722, of George Philip Dodderer, or Dotterer, in Pennsylvania. Tradition, in some instances, asserts that the Pennsylvania immigrants were of French origin; but not uniformly so, for Alsace, Baden, Wurtemberg and Austria are also named as the place of their nativity. We have unbounded respect for Judge Pennypacker’s insight into genealogy, ethnology, and the kindred sciences, and it will therefore not be a surprise to us if research shall ultimately prove that his intuitions are correct.[5]
The prominent Dotterer family of Pennsylvania was established by George Phillip Dotterer (ca. 1676–1741), who was born in Baden-Württemberg and died in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, in 1741. George’s father Hans is thought to have been born in the same region of Germany as his son around 1650. However, this family’s link to the prominent Catholic Duderés of France remains tenuous. As such, Governor Pennypacker’s assumption remains unlikely; perhaps his doubts led him to sell the book on in his 1906 sale. In any case, both G. Duderé’s misattribution of the portraits in the book and the dubious linkage to the Dotterer dynasty made by Governor Pennypacker demonstrate the extent to which an unsuspecting manuscript can become the subject of historical wishful thinking.

Author’s Note
So... this entire book is just one long winded author’s note, but I would like to preface this overall piece with some general intentions. My primary purpose as an artist, a recovering addict, and a human is to provoke the type of thought that leads to change for myself and others. I don’t want to be original, and I don’t need to be understood. I’ve spent enough of my life exploring obscure trails that are off the beaten path, and climbing down different rabbit holes that result in self-destruction and suffering for myself and those who love me. I got clean from drugs at the age of twenty-one and got involved in a twelve step program that has helped me to navigate the mainstream of society without needing to get high anymore.
My recovery process is a continuous movement away from isolation and toward oneness with other human beings, my true self, and the forces in this universe greater than anything I can fully comprehend. I love to wax intellectual and philosophical with my fucking homies for days on end, but in the broad scope the whole thing really comes down to separation and unity for me.
I started this band Rich People a couple of years back because I had an intention to build this vehicle where I could create an atmosphere of unity in some corner of the world. If it was just about a band at this point, I have better things to do with my time and there’s way too much service work to be done in the drug community to be spending this much time just rockin’ out and havin’ a good time.
To make this a little bit more personal than I usually get in my blog or lyrics, I will say that I worked an eleventh and twelfth step in my recovery program a few years back. Those steps say a lot of things, but some force in this universe grabbed me out of the grip of active addiction and helped me to become a vessel of hope. It caused me to channel some sounds and words alongside the message I received in meetings out into a world that can always use more realistic optimism. Honestly this shit is all pretty dark, depressing, and intense. But, it seems to lighten up the rest of my life to release some morbid energy through this outlet and transform it into something better. I suggest anyone reading this to do whatever the fuck it is you want to do and just do the shit out of it. I love you very much.
In Loving Memory of Alan Cohen
The final years of your life gave me permission to be all the way and unafraid to be, and your death told me to stop fucking waiting around.
Thank You For Sharing

“Love,
Grant me the grace
To float into this fearful space Foresight to see that bliss can be And the patience to let it happen”
When I was a 13 year old boy, I sat in a church pew for one of the last times. The boys wore white suits and waited to receive the body and blood of a fictional character who ruled the modern world with fear and promises of salvation. On that day of “confirmation,” the only thing that was confirmed for me was that “God” as I currently understood it was not real, didn’t love me, and would never help me. If God were real, I asked it to reveal itself in the form of enlightenment or euphoria. Nothing came. I spent the next decade convincing myself the world was a hostile place, isolating and slowly killing myself.
Quick backstory for anyone who’s just joining us...
I abused substances consistently for six years - from age fifteen to twenty-one. I drank drinks, then I sold pills, then I did pills, then I shot dope, then I smoked crack. I only stopped when I was arrested, went to rehab, or took maintenance drugs. I woke up every day and could hardly make it from my couch to the trash can in the kitchen before getting sick. I was living to use and using to live.
I write a very long-winded blog that goes into way more detail about this and my life struggles since being clean, but to put it simply, I was a dope fiend and a scumbag. Like my good friend Ray — who saved my life once upon a time — always says "I was the three worst things you can be in this life: a liar, a cheat, and a thief."
I turned twenty-one and a month later I met Ray and got clean, and the rest is history.
It wasn’t until I was getting clean that the word “God” clicked for me. Somebody told me it could stand for Good Orderly Direction. I once considered myself the kind of guy who always just assumed I was God and in full control. “God” now seemed to sum up all the new things in my life that were keeping me clean. Somebody told me “God” could be the people at the meetings, the books that were helping me to start understanding myself, and just the idea that I wasn’t in control and invincible like I once believed. That was “God.” I could get with that. I’ve read some philosophy books, and I’ve had a lot of conversations with people over the past seven years that really helped me hone in on my beliefs. I aim to treat the world well and
eliminate personal separations from it so I can feel and do better. It’s about not being perfect and accepting my humanity while also striving to improve every day.
I recently decided that prayers and affirmations are basically the same thing. I say some things I want. I get focused on them. I incorporate them into my existence. Maybe it’s the law of attraction, maybe it’s astrology, maybe everybody’s sending me all the fucking good vibes — I don’t know. But I’m okay with not knowing now, which is also something that plagued me growing up: the incessant need to understand everything and be understood by everyone. I don’t really care about the whys and hows anymore. I just try to do the right thing for the right reasons, even though sometimes I do the wrong thing in subtle insidious ways.
That’s why life is a process. All of us operate alongside two things: wanting love and fearing its absence. We do the best we can with what we’re currently able to understand and accept. This is not a philosophy book, and this was only supposed to be an introduction, so I’ll end with this. Religion destroyed the idea of spirituality for me. If it weren’t for a couple of drug addicts in a church basement, I would have died alone before I restored my faith in life, the world, and humanity.
We pick up where Jacob’s Ladder left off... This is my recollection of the events that took place from when I moved to Philadelphia on November 24th, 2015 up to February 2017.
This is Bliss to Come.

Lol. To do this or not ...?
I just age verified my photos; hope it goes through. Also hoping my amazing client would reach out. I should focus on developing relationships with sincere and genuine people. Also high-quality people. Maybe — my new suitcase should wait until the New Year. Then, I will be financially stable during this time.
But I’m so happy to go back to California. I’ll be there often, I think. And then an East Coast tour in late March, I think. And then a day off for my Breast Fat Transfer surgery. Hooray. I’m super happy. And then maybe for the Disaster Management Service I can go ahead and mark off a sick day. For my Brazilian butt lift. I also have a lot of entrepreneurial ventures in mind. Modeling, teaching, and also — blogging. I will create an astrology blog. I will tinker with it soon. Or maybe just hire someone ...?
But yeah — hoping for some clients in December. NY, SF, and LA. Possibly San Diego. And then return to NYC in January. I renew my company and begin my bank account. :) I’ll be doing it ... early January I think. It will be good...
I’m also very excited. I think I’ll continue touring SF and LA throughout February, and March. Then in late March, I have an East Coast tour. I will tour Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and DC. It will be fun / interesting I think. That will most likely be my final East Coast tour. Maybe one other visit to Chicago. But then after all of this, I think I’ll be shifting my focus to escorting by late April, and then I shall focus completely on escorting by May, after all my surgeries are done. And I’ll be applying to modeling agencies during that time. I’ll have a separate phone.

Chiron Chronicles, Volume 5, October 13, 2020: Mercury in Scorpio Stations Retrograde Today, or “What Does It REALLY Mean To Be Well?”
Hey Truthseekers, and welcome to the fifth installment of the Chiron Chronicles.
Before you dig into this piece, I encourage you to read the first, second, third, and fourth installments of this series. Also, check out a piece I wrote on Chiron back in 2018 entitled “Chiron Meditations, Part One.”
As always, I welcome your comments and impressions, particularly if you, like me, are in the throes of your Chiron return, or more generally, are actively pursuing your own personal journey toward wholeness, growth and evolution.
Now let’s dig into the astrology of the moment Mercury stations retrograde at 11+ Scorpio on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at 9:05 pm EDT (set in Philadelphia, PA, where I live). I’ve posted the chart of the moment below; take a moment to read and ponder astrologer Blaine Bovee’s interpretation of the Sabian Symbol for the ascendant degree for the chart … it’s very telling: “A woman suffragist orating.”
In the chart, Gemini is rising, with the first house holding the Gemini North Node (which is engaged in a tense, somewhat disorienting energetic contact with Neptune, currently retrograde in Pisces and in the 10th house). The duality inherent in the fact that Gemini is rising can’t be ignored. There are people who are okay with what’s going on, and people who are not. The issue is that we can’t clearly discern one from the other, mainly because we are coming from widely different perspectives.
Mercury, the chart ruler, is in Scorpio, the sign of elimination, waste, trash, purging, detoxification and cleansing. He is holding forth in the 6th house of wellness, self-improvement and our daily routines, continuing his energetic dialogue with Uranus retrograde in Taurus in the 12th house of solitude, self-undoing and the collective unconscious. Both Mercury and Uranus will receive cues from Venus and the Moon, joined together energetically in Virgo, in the 4th house of family, roots and endings.
While Mercury stands still in the sky, preparing to begin his retrograde journey through Scorpio and the late degrees of Libra over the next three weeks, Mars reaches the halfway point of his retrograde journey through his home sign of Aries with an opposition to the Libra Sun. Not only does he have to contend with the partnership oriented energy of the Libra Sun, he also has to find ways to productively engage with the power-packed planetary lineup in Capricorn - Pluto, Saturn and Jupiter, all of which are in direct, forward motion and gaining speed. In the 11th house of hopes, wishes, groups and associations, Chiron continues to journey backwards through Aries as well, making creative contacts with Saturn in Capricorn and the Libra Sun.
In short, this is “stop being selfish and get your shit together because our overall health and well-being depends on it” energy. The Universe is continuing to gently (but firmly) nudge us toward the historic Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in Aquarius, perfecting this December. Astrologer Liz Greene writes that Jupiter-Saturn cycles can potentially point to the “dethroning of something old and outworn, a burst of new energy and some chaos before a new, younger thing emerges.”
Any planet in Scorpio, the sign of elimination, waste, trash, purging, detoxification and cleansing will be up to the task of moving things along. And over the next few weeks, Mercury retrograding through Scorpio gives us the chance to think deeply about our inner relationship to wellness, and more importantly, naming what might be holding us back from doing what it takes to be our best physical, spiritual and mental selves.
I think we can all agree that this year has been like no other in recent memory. The threat and reality of death and profound loss loom over us like a dark cloud, permeating every aspect of our lives. Day in and day out, we have been bombarded by a great deal of new - and often conflicting - information from a variety of sources. With each passing day, it has become more and more difficult (and stressful) to sort out what’s credible and what is utter foolishness.
Over the past 7-8 months, we have asked to shelter in place, wear masks and other protective face coverings, practice physical and social distancing, wash our hands, and be careful. It’s a meditation on cooperation and what it truly means to come together for a reason bigger than ourselves; unfortunately, we’re coming to a sad realization that some people just won’t cooperate unless they are forced to. Nothing could have prepared us for the over the top dysfunction on display that we’re being forced to witness.
In pondering the questions, “What does it mean to be ‘well’?,” and, “What does being “unwell” look like?”, we are being called upon to use discernment to sort out the facts from the bullshit and lies, and then put that information to good use. How each of us goes about this will have a direct impact on our relationships and the larger collective.
Over the next three weeks, approach the process of releasing old and outworn ideas and self-defeating thoughts about your relationship to wellness through the lens of common sense and practicality. Be prepared however, to meet some resistance from those closest to you, some of whom may be deeply misguided because they are getting their cues from those in positions of authority.
The long and short of it is this: Our actions have to line up with our words, which means we have to do what is sound, prudent and practical. It’s not enough to give lip service to the facts and it’s not enough to endlessly gripe about how these facts are falling on deaf ears. Pandemic or not, we are being called upon to carefully and calmly rethink the mind-body-spirit connection, why we may have lost our way and what it will take to liberate ourselves and the people around us.
The Universe is gifting us a three-week energetic reprieve to consider the way forward - it is being clearly illuminated; it’s all boiling down to a matter of personal choice coupled with a heightened awareness of how our personal choices can adversely impact or benefit the collective. A number of fundamental questions have begun to emerge, the answers to which will become clear by the time Mercury stations direct in Libra on November 3, 2020.
