#Petruccio would lose his shit

I’ve been thinking about them more :3
There’s actually a couple of things but the other gets reblog to the (blorbo) consensual cannibalism post
Petruccio is five whole years older than Gonzalo
He became an adult pretty soon after they got the rings.
And it is a recurring theme that people love the positive guardians’ auras. And not for no good reason; it feels nice!
So. How often, do you think, did people about Petruccio’s age come by, profess their ‘undying’ love to him, beg him to stay with them? To travel with them, come home with them, whatever the case may be?
How many do you think were willing to try to take Petruccio by force? How many would rather he be dead if they couldn’t have him?
How much do you think his cursed, whispering ring exacerbated that?
Petruccio can handle himself, but the first couple of times he was very much caught off-guard. And the very first time, they almost succeeded in kidnapping him.
It didn’t take very long for Gonzalo to assign himself as Petruccio’s protector, whenever someone about Petruccio’s age came through. Especially when he sensed something that felt even remotely like romantic feelings; because they almost never really were. They simply thought they were. Gonzalo tried a few times to tell them otherwise, but no one listened.
Some just ignored him. Others politely told him that he didn’t understand.
Others didn’t pretend to be nice.
“What would a kid like you know? Especially the guardian of negative feelings. You probably can’t even imagine what love feels like.”
There were a handful of people who accepted ‘no’ from Petruccio. And it happened often enough that Gonzalo would wait until he was absolutely certain they were going to hurt Petruccio.
Especially since Petruccio did like some of them. Not in the way they wanted him to, though.
The moment Gonzalo saw someone getting angry that Petruccio wouldn’t stay with them, he struck. They were dead before they hit the ground.
Once Petruccio ate the negative apples, things changed slightly. And got worse.
Petruccio had to deal with the hostility that Gonzalo had experienced for years. And worse, sometimes, since his aura was so much stronger. Anyone who wanted to hurt Petruccio wanted him gone.
Petruccio expected this.
Gonzalo forgot, until the first time.
Petruccio defended himself fine, but he wasn’t used to using his tentacles. He still got hurt. And it scared the shit out of Gonzalo.
Gonzalo will not allow anyone to hurt Petruccio again.
He’s the only person who’s ever truly cared for him. Loves him.
He can’t lose him.
They forget, now, how far Gonzalo will go to keep Petruccio safe. The multiverse is too scared of them to try, and anyone who was brave enough to would quickly be stopped by Petruccio’s charmspeak. No one in the manor has seen either of them be injured terribly in a fight; some scrapes here or there, sure, but not much more than that.
The only one who can hurt Petruccio is Yighraru.
Because Gonzalo truly believes that it won’t really hurt him. Either of them.
And if Petruccio dies because of Yighraru?
Gonzalo will simply follow him.
So i said that part of Gonzalo and Petruccio's separation anxiety and jealousy was because, when the rings showed up and everyone else killed each other, some people almost found where they were hiding
And while i think that's definitely going to be part of why they're so protective of each other, but i think the rest is more from travelers who came by afterwards.
Do you think two kids who just witnessed such a horrific scene would've buried the bodies? Especially with how awful the villagers were to Gonzalo in particular?
Maybe some of their friends from the traveling theater troupe, but most of the bodies were probably ignored.
Imagine being on a long journey, and you see a sign that points to a nearby village, and you decide to stop to rest and maybe stock up on supplies.
But it's empty. Not a soul to be found.
Until you find your way to the stage set up near a hill with a strange tree on it, and you find the rotting corpses of everyone who had lived here. There's blood on the stage, maybe still in the grass.
And then these two kids come down from the hill. They look human, but not quite. They have these odd rings on chains around their necks. They ask you where you came from. They look at the corpses with disgust but seem otherwise unbothered.
Something is wrong with them. They look at you like a spider watching a fly as it wanders near the web. The younger of the two looks like he's expecting you to attack them, and is ready to stab you if you try.
And they will kill travelers sometimes.
Sometimes their guests realized that they're in danger before it gets that far and are ready to defend themselves.
Sometimes their guests know about the Tree and want to steal the fruit, through whatever means necessary.
Sometimes (though rarely) their guests are also looking for a new victim, and don't care if they're kids if it'll satiate their bloodlust.
And sometimes their guests noticed absolutely nothing, and just felt bad for the two kids living alone with nothing but each other and the remains of the dead for company.
They've probably been tricked and forcibly separated from each other multiple times. Each time, whoever went off with the stranger got hurt and almost died.
Or the stranger tried to 'adopt' one of them and take them away.
Occasionally there are other kids. Kids they get along with. Kids that may get along better with one of them than the other. And Gonzalo never had a friend his age, so any time one of those kids decided they liked him, he'd be much more excited to go play with then than Petruccio would be if he made such a friend.
Petruccio probably became much better at taking care of Gonzalo out of necessity once they got the rings, and between their precarious situation and everything that they'd been through he feels like he's the only one Gonzalo can really trust.
And that Gonzalo's the only one he can really trust.
So seeing his dearest friend spend more and more time with someone else...
Gonzalo, used to Petruccio spending time with other friends, doesn't care as much. so he thinks it's funny. in fact he probably thought it was so funny as a kid he did it on purpose a lot. Part of it might've been because Petruccio would never have gotten so jealous if he didn't care about Gonzalo, and the thought made Gonzalo very happy.
it probably took a while for Petruccio to notice, and which point Gonzalo had chilled with intentionally making him jealous. he still thinks it's funny though.
#deimos' understudy#du gonzalo#du petruccio#gonzalo needs help. but we knew this already#implied suicide#if the roles were reversed—if Gonzalo died because of Yighraru and not Petruccio—#Petruccio would lose his shit#because he had thought that Yighraru would take both of them. At once. how could their lord be so cruel#as to take them away from each other like this?#he forgets they promised to follow each other to their Lord’s realm. because never in his life did Petruccio think they’d have to do it#because Yighraru only called one of them#by the time he remembers he’s managed to lose what little sanity he had left and is absolutely determined to bring Gonzalo back#at least from Yighraru’s realm. even if he can’t fully bring him back from the dead.#meanwhile Gonzalo is wondering where Petruccio is and is genuinely thinking someone is trying to keep him from following Gonzalo#and he is NOT happy that anyone is trying to keep them separated#unfortunately—and Petruccio surely knows this—staying in Yighraru’s realm is reinforcing all of Gonzalo’s beliefs#if petruccio succeeds. he won’t understand. At all#he doesn’t even know if he should be hurt. Petruccio was so miserable without him he tried to bring him back from the dead? but…#he wouldnt just follow him?#he’ll likely reason that either Petruccio found he was too afraid of dying to commit#or someone had managed to keep him from trying so often that he decided the only way to stay with Gonzalo#was to bring him back#and I don’t know that Petruccio would have the heart to tell him otherwise at this point#even as Gonzalo’s continued reverence for Yighraru makes him sick to his stomach#eventually he’d probably try to gently lift the veil from Gonzalo’s eyes but…it’ll take decades if it’s possible at all

Another Yew Branch offset Idea - Desmond reborn as Federico/Claudia.
So this would have a similar premise to Little Sparrow. Let’s start with what they both have in common:
Well, Desmond’s going to try and keep the timeline the same as usual… at the start
He’ll soon start to fuck shit up because he comes to love the Auditores like his own family and he can’t… watching Ezio growing up, growing up with Ezio… seeing the smiles and innocence he’d soon lose… he can’t do it. He can’t let Ezio suffer through that tragedy again. He can’t let his family suffer
Soooo… remember how Desmond had to suffer through the pain of replacing Petruccio in Little Sparrow? How he believed he has done something truly horrible and he had taken somebody else’s place? That’s what’s going to happen here. Not only that but he would feel that he’s always less than Federico or Claudia had been.
He’ll definitely be more rebellious in this scenario but his rebellious streak would appear differently depending on who he has been reborn as.
And he'll be a complete mama's boy/girl regardless because Maria Auditore is just awesome (and has a less complicated relationship with Desmond)
What if Desmond has been reborn as Federico?
In this scenario, Desmond would dote on his younger siblings, especially Ezio.
Everyone would see that Ezio is his favorite and Ezio would be proud of it.
Desmond would also feel more ‘at peace’ with dying in Federico’s place in this one.
But, at the same time, his love for this family would be the one to finally get him to break away from what is supposed to happen.
He will definitely break away a bit later, maybe two years before the day the Auditores are meant to be executed.
In this scenario, Desmond would definitely show his displeasure over Giovanni’s loyalty to Lorenzo and it will be a source of conflict between them. Giovanni tells Desmond that he will understand when he grows older why allying with the Medici is the right thing to do for the Assassins. Desmond knows that it makes them complicit and blind to the Medici’s own shortcomings.
This is also a branch where Desmond has a high chance of just going off script and taking down the Templars before they can make trouble. Perhaps not all of them but definitely the ones in Firenze.
Desmond would be going against Giovanni’s orders more often than not because of their conflicting loyalty (Giovanni to Lorenzo and in keeping Firenze safe and stable, Desmond just going for the kills without thinking about what would happen if he kills influential and powerful people)
Whether they end up repairing their relationship as father or son really depends on Giovanni’s priorities because the whole Medici thing is something Desmond isn’t willing to compromise on. Not when it compromises their family.
What if Desmond has been reborn as Claudia?
This one is more complicated.
For one, Desmond wouldn’t necessarily act like how a noblewoman would act.
This includes joining Federico and Ezio with their shenanigans.
There would be rumors of how unwomanly she is and she would be called ‘Messere Claude’ behind her back as some kind of derogatory petname.
This being Desmond, she ignores it.
But her brother won’t and they’ll get into fights because of it.
Desmond will also be close with Petruccio since they’re close in age and she and Petruccio spend a lot of time indoors because Desmond doesn’t have any friends thanks to his ‘peculiarities’.
Desmond also likes to wear Ezio’s clothes and the only thing stopping her from actually cutting her hair is Maria’s love for her hair.
Giovanni wouldn’t train her even though he knows that Desmond is the most skilled of his children. He’s still hoping she would ‘calm down’ and find better hobbies.
Oh and Duccio? He spread a rumor that he had sex with Desmond but Desmond beat the crap out of him so bad the doctors fear he will never have children ever.
Desmond is like… the black sheep of the Florence nobility but she’s also one of the most entertaining topics, that’s for sure. A lot of young men and women definitely have a crush on her.
Desmond’s the reason why the Auditores wouldn’t be captured although they would need to leave Firenze.
Giovanni wanted her, Maria, and Petruccio to go to Spain where they will be safer but Desmond was like “fuck that” and demanded she be an Assassin.
Giovanni, seeing her skills and the look in her eyes that just screams ‘if you say no, I’m going to do something you’re gonna fucking regret’, finally relents.
However…
Giovanni has Ezio and Federico keep an eye on her just to be safe.
In this case, AC2 and Brotherhood’s plot becomes a three-man job for the Auditore children.
And Petruccio takes care of the books back in Monteriggioni XD
#and because it’s me monteriggioni doesn’t get destroyed because fuck you cesare#also whichever plot you choose#desmond gets the armor of altaïr#desmond as claudia auditore#desmond as federico auditore#assassin's creed#desmond miles#ezio auditore#federico auditore#claudia auditore#giovanni auditore#maria auditore#ask and answer#teecup writes/has a plot#fic idea: assassin's creed
