As of September 25, 2024, petrol prices in major Indian cities are stable, with Delhi's price at Rs 94.72 per litre. Prices are set daily under a dynamic pricing system initiated in 2017, influenced by factors like crude oil prices, the rupee's exchange rate, and domestic tax policies. Petrol, Diesel Sales Rise In India: Here's Why
New Delhi: India’s fuel demand rose in March as a pick-up in agriculture activity helped reverse a slowdown that was witnessed in the first half of the month, preliminary industry data showed on Sunday. Fuel sales soared to the highest levels in February on the back of robust demand from the agriculture sector as well as transport picking up after the winter lull. But a seasonal slowdown kicked…

"India’s announcement that it aims to reach net zero emissions by 2070 and to meet fifty percent of its electricity requirements from renewable energy sources by 2030 is a hugely significant moment for the global fight against climate change. India is pioneering a new model of economic development that could avoid the carbon-intensive approaches that many countries have pursued in the past – and provide a blueprint for other developing economies.
The scale of transformation in India is stunning. Its economic growth has been among the highest in the world over the past two decades, lifting of millions of people out of poverty. Every year, India adds a city the size of London to its urban population, involving vast construction of new buildings, factories and transportation networks. Coal and oil have so far served as bedrocks of India’s industrial growth and modernisation, giving a rising number of Indian people access to modern energy services. This includes adding new electricity connections for 50 million citizens each year over the past decade.
The rapid growth in fossil energy consumption has also meant India’s annual CO2 emissions have risen to become the third highest in the world. However, India’s CO2 emissions per person put it near the bottom of the world’s emitters, and they are lower still if you consider historical emissions per person. The same is true of energy consumption: the average household in India consumes a tenth as much electricity as the average household in the United States.
India’s sheer size and its huge scope for growth means that its energy demand is set to grow by more than that of any other country in the coming decades. In a pathway to net zero emissions by 2070, we estimate that most of the growth in energy demand this decade would already have to be met with low-carbon energy sources. It therefore makes sense that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced more ambitious targets for 2030, including installing 500 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity, reducing the emissions intensity of its economy by 45%, and reducing a billion tonnes of CO2.
These targets are formidable, but the good news is that the clean energy transition in India is already well underway. It has overachieved its commitment made at COP 21- Paris Summit [a.k.a. 2015, at the same conference that produced the Paris Agreement] by already meeting 40% of its power capacity from non-fossil fuels- almost nine years ahead of its commitment, and the share of solar and wind in India’s energy mix have grown phenomenally. Owing to technological developments, steady policy support, and a vibrant private sector, solar power plants are cheaper to build than coal ones. Renewable electricity is growing at a faster rate in India than any other major economy, with new capacity additions on track to double by 2026...
Subsidies for petrol and diesel were removed in the early 2010s, and subsidies for electric vehicles were introduced in 2019. India’s robust energy efficiency programme has been successful in reducing energy use and emissions from buildings, transport and major industries. Government efforts to provide millions of households with fuel gas for cooking and heating are enabling a steady transition away from the use of traditional biomass such as burning wood. India is also laying the groundwork to scale up important emerging technologies such as hydrogen, battery storage, and low-carbon steel, cement and fertilisers..."

Sunday 17th November 2024
As we sat having breakfast in our little back garden and reading the UK news on our phones, we note all the similarities here. Midwives are threatening industrial action over pay, politicians are admitting taking freebies, trade tariffs with Trumps USA are a worry, housing shortage, 3 year waiting time for operation on public health system, banning under 16s from using social media, high inflation, moaning about paying £1/ litre for petrol/ diesel..... The list goes on.
The next stop is Cloncurry, only a couple of hours up the road, through endless outback with nothing of note on route. Except for Mary Kathleen. In the late 1950s, this was a town, an almost utopian town.
On Sunday 4 July 1954, Norm McConachy and John Walton were making their way along a dry creek when their truck broke down with a loose lead on a spark plug. McConachy is said to be the one who actually took the Geiger counter out of the truck and turned it on. As he continued walking up the dry creek bed, the instrument needle reportedly went off the scale. McConachy then called John Walton who was coaxing their broken-down vehicle back to life. The ore body was then discovered by following a 1.5 kilometre trail of radioactive boulders along the drainage system. The claim was pegged, and an application for a mining lease was lodged at the Mining Warden's office in Cloncurry
The deposit was named Mary Kathleen in honour of Norm McConachy's wife, who had died shortly before their discovery. And so it was that the very valuable commodity Uranium was discovered. The town of Mary Kathleen was constructed in just one year to serve the mining operation which commenced in October 1956 with the treatment plant commissioning in June 1958. The contract was to supply UK Atomic Energy Authority with £40M worth of Uranium Oxide. In the first five years, 4080 tonnes were produced, shipped in 44 Gallon drums to England.
The community built in Mary Kathleen comprised 1,100 families and 200 single men. The town was well equipped with an Olympic size swimming pool, schools, churches, pubs, restaurants, library, cinema, sporting club, general stores, two banks, milk bar, cafes, and hospital. They really did have a modern town, with everything they needed. Rio Tinto, their employer, charged families $8 per week for a 2 bedroomed house, free electricity, no rates, free amenities, and good pay. During the years 1956-1963, a 23 acre market garden was established to provide fresh fruit, veg, and eggs for the town. All they had to was go mine large quantities of a nasty radioactive substance like Uranium.
By 1963 the contract with the UK had been satisfied. A second phase of mining was completed between 1974 and 1982 shipping Uranium Oxide to Japan. After that, the production finished, the buildings were dismantled and sold leaving empty streets of concrete slabs, dwarf walls, tumble weed and a monument to the town's completion. Very little now remains that could demonstrate the vibrant town that once stood there, the lives that it would have represented, the vitality of human day to day existence, testimonies of happy enriched lives, or even tales tinged with sadness, gone with so little to show for it.
Once again, Mr Europcar would've slept uneasily as we followed the brown sign and uphill to the quarry along a very poor road, partially paved, partially unpaved, but together with the grandaddy of all potholes. The nuts and bolts shuddered and shook until we reached a distance of 6km and felt compassion for the Ford and completed the rest of the journey on foot. So we trudged, hatted, up the stony road a further kilometre until the vista opened and there in its glory was the long disused quarry with its pyramid stepped sides of sheer granite leading down and down to assure blue waters, lying so still far below us. The use of this place was dissolved in 1982 and has lain undisturbed, dormant, relatively unvisited ever since. Apart from 4x4 vehicles, it is unapproachable, largely unsigned, on the tourist trail, but difficult to find or access. In the time we were there 3 other 4x4s managed the distance and poor roads. But for us, the experience was well worth the effort, to see the abandoned town where the people who worked this place lived their lives and then the relic of their labours now living its eternity in peace and tranquility now the big earth/ rock movers, the dust, the dirt have now long gone, a monument that tells its own story if anyone can get to listen to it.
Completing our journey to Cloncurry was simple once we managed to find our way out of the abandoned town. In their flight, all signs back to the Barkly Highway had gone!
Happy Birthday, Karen x
ps. We went out for a little walk around the little town at around 8.30 tonight, so warm, and it's like a ghost town. All shut up for the night. These Aussies really are party animals. Worst thing is the Cloncurry Baker's. We'd heard nothing but good things about the famous Cloncurry Curry Pie. Disastrously, the appalling news stuck to the baker's window stated that due to some miscreant member of staff not showing up and letting everybody down, let alone the whole town down, the Cloncurry Bakers will remain closed!!! Bang goes my pie then.
pps. It has to be stated firmly here that this is definitely a neat, tidy, clean, and comly town of charming character. It is a complete surprise and exceeds our expectations by quite a long way. We shall do well here, I feel on our two nights.

Biafra: The Rising Sun of Africa
Biafra is a land bubbling with abundant human talents and resources. This is apart from the crude oil, God has blessed us with in the land. But, we are under subjugation by Nigeria Authorities since time immemorial. Independence of Biafra will be a great boost to our potentials. It will be like releasing the lions out of the zoo. We are really in a “Zoo Republic: with restrictions and maltreatments here and there.
Independent Biafra will be a land of milk and honey. Currently, we are wallowing in abject poverty and penury, in the midst of plenty. Our people in diaspora, are making waves in all areas of human endeavours in: manufacturing, medicine, engineering, agriculture, internet, name them. They are among the best, if not the very best. But right here in Nigeria, talents are being killed.
Nigerian authorities prefer foreign goods and services at exorbitant prices, to patronizing locally made ones, especially the ones from Biafra. Take for instance importation of refined petroleum products. Most of those locally constructed refineries, (they call them illegal refineries) in occupied Biafra, if licensed to operate, are capable of meeting our local consumption needs; and even exporting to neighbouring countries. A lot of those manning the local refineries are qualified Engineers and Technicians, who couldn’t gain employment in Federal Establishments like NNPC, due to tribalism and nepotism of Hausa/Fulani Government. The latter will always destroy those structures and round the people up.
We call on tribal Nigerian Government to reopen Chemical Engineering Department of University of Nigeria Nsukka in Biafra, shut down after the Nigeria civil war. The department played prominent role in the refining of crude oil into very clean: petrol, kerosene, diesel and other products. They were of very high quality. The school was also involved in production of hydraulic brake fluid for cars. Cocoa nut fluid was mixed with other substances to form it. They as well produced aviation fuel. The continued closure of the department is retrogressive.
Engineer Ezekiel Izuogu was frustrated from having car manufacturing company. He wanted to use hundred percent local materials. He produced a sample of the car. He made passionate appeal to the government for help. His request was never granted. One night, unknown gun men went and carted away his inventions. Those items couldn’t be traced anywhere till today. That ended his ambition. Nigeria is a land that kills talents.
A lot of inventions are going on in Biafra on daily basis. People are inventing cars, airplanes, generators without fuel, and so on. There is no encouragement. The Government won’t allow their products to be patronized by people, even if they are better than imported ones.
Biafra will be an advanced and industrialized country, shortly after its freedom from Hausa/Fulani colonialism. Biafran Government will revive moribund industries, and companies that litter our land. There will be massive employment opportunities. Youths fleeing abroad for means of livelihood, will be thing of the past. Crime rate will drastically reduce, as almost everybody will be engaged in one useful venture or another. Idle mind they say is the devil’s workshop.
Currency of the land of rising sun will be strong and stable; comparable to strong foreign currencies, like dollar and Euro. Black marketing of foreign exchange by Northerners, have been causing downward plunge of naira for decades now. Their bothers in Government give them those hard currencies, stolen from oil sale proceeds, to sell at ever increasing high rate to naira.
“Give them Biafra, in the next 20 years their country will become paradise”_ Gowon told Buhari.
“Give them Biafra in the next 50 years, they will become the world power”_ Queen told Obama.
“Give them Biafra in the next 5 years, we will become their slave and be begging them for food”_ Nigeria told UN.
“Give them Biafra in the next 50 years, each Biafra will be richer than any Governor in the world”_ the economist told the world.
“If Nigeria refuses to give us Biafra, every living thing in it will die. I repeat, if Nigeria refuses to give us Biafra, every living thing in it will die. BIAFRA OR DEATH”_Nnamdi Kanu told the world.
When Biafra is firmly established, we are going to take the world by storm.
Biafra needs a new generation of leaders, who are seriously involved in the struggle for actualization of our land. No saboteur, collaborator with Hausa/fulanis, or rogue politician, will be allowed to participate in the governance of the land. Currently, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is the undisputed Biafra apex leader; along with his colleagues in IPOB. He has demonstrated the real leadership qualities, and unshakable commitment to the struggle. He has refused to be bribed or intimidated into submission. He rejected bribes money running into billions of dollars. God Almighty has actually entrusted him with the leadership of Biafra.
We won’t permit vultures and traitors, hiding under leadership of one socio-cultural organization or the other, to hijack the leadership or governance of Biafra. Take for example Ohaneze. The so-called leaders are elected, or selected by handful of members. They are never elected by the generality of Igbos. They are never representing Igbos or their interests. These crooks are only after their own selfish interests. Such persons use their headship of those mushroom groups, to sell out their people to Northern dominated Nigeria Government, for one favour or the other.
Most of them are discredited “retired politicians.” Some of them were former Ministers, Governors and Federal legislators; while some are still at the corridor of power. They are being used to undermine Biafra struggle, in pursuit of so-called Igbo President. Igbo elite are the most gullible, and self-centred set of people on earth. As well, they allowed themselves to be deceived, used, and dumped by their ill-educated, and half-educated Northern rulers for decades now.
While in office, these charlatans from Biafra loot the treasury under their care with impunity. They stockpile billions of stolen money, with the intention to pursue their narrow Presidential, or Vice Presidential ambitions; which they can never realize. They begin by buying their way, to become Presidents of socio- cultural groupings. We won’t allow them to play any leadership role in Biafra; even advisory role. They cannot reap where they didn’t sow. You cannot make a rogue your adviser.
Igboland is not landlocked. It is the imagination of our oppressive rulers, since the so-called independence. Our land was excluded in the establishment of seaports, among other deprivations. The Orashi River in Oseakwa Ihiala LGA, in Anambra State, is the closest potential seaport we have in Igbo land, that links to Atlantic Ocean. Lagos seaport to Atlantic Ocean is 60 nautical miles. Oseakwa project abandoned in 1959, is only 18 nautical miles to Atlantic Ocean. When dredged, Oseakwa seaport can conveniently serve people in South South, South East, and part of Middle Belt. It is potentially the deepest seaport in Nigeria.
Osemoto in Oguta, Imo State is another potential seaport, which is also 18 nautical miles to Atlantic Ocean. It is the deepest natural harbor in the country; over 20m deep. We are being relegated to the background, in all spheres of life. But Biafra restoration will take care of all these deprivations. https://powertrumpeter.org/blog2/?p=309.

Hitchhiking
Diesel x Male Reader
THIS FIC IS 18+
Check out my other work! : Masterlist
July 15th, 1996
Heat. The boiling heat of the Arizona sun was practically broiling you alive as you trekked along. Thumb pointing out with every car that passed by to no avail whatsoever. With each car passing you that caused a groan as you tilted your head back. Eventually you just couldn’t carry yourself anymore. You set your bag down sitting yourself on top of it as you stuck your thumb out again. In the distance it caught your eyes. The glint of steel and large wheels. Looked to be some type of Semi.
As the truck rolled to a stop you could only stare up in shock… you hadn’t expected him to even stop for you considering but, at this rate to get out of the heat it was a welcome change. You quickly climbed up to open the door. The welcome gust of air conditioning causing you to let out a sigh of relief.
“Hey thanks man! I appreciate it!” You said quickly as you adjusted your bag to slide it off your back to set it between your legs. You reached over the center console to shake the man’s hand. “(Y/N)! Nice to meet you pal!” You said with a toothy grin before the man held his hand out. It practically engulfed yours. Christ you hadn’t noticed it but this guy was a mammoth! Long dark brown hair pulled back into a low ponytail, sunglasses, leather jacket and matching pants. You didn’t know many truckers… but you were pretty sure they didn’t dress like this most of the time.
“Diesel.” He stated as he shook your hand. You could only snicker for a moment.
“Fitting name huh?” You asked with a smile before he rolled his eyes.
“Yeah. You should meet my sister Petrol.” He smirked before pointing to the back with his thumb. “You can just huck your stuff back in the sleeper. I don’t use it.” You nodded quickly. Shifting in the seat to set your knees on it to reach back and throw your bag in the back. Diesel watched as you did. He paused for a moment however as he caught a glance to the bandana in your right pocket. Orange in color. The glance was quick. Before his eyes returned to the front window and you finally sat back down correctly.
“So.” His voice even in a relaxed state was booming. “Where you going huh?”
“Wherever you’re willing to take me! I’m just letting the people of the road take me around.” You smiled fondly. As if this was just a normal everyday occurrence.
“So, you’re just…hitchhiking too wherever?” He asked the question slowly to make sure he was getting it right. You gave a curt nod his way.
“Eyup! Just letting kind drivers like yourself drive me around for however long you want till you grow sick of me and kick me off.” You paused for a moment. “Or kill me but I don’t think that’s happening anytime soon.”
Diesel let out a small grunt as he began to drive again. “Well since you’re going nowhere. I’m heading to a stop for the night to fuel up.” You nodded.
“Fine by me! I’ve stayed at plenty of stops. They’re pretty cool.” You set your hands on your lap. Absentmindedly tapping your thighs before looking to the radio that played a dull tune. “Any tapes?” You asked as your hand went to Reach for the dial.
“Don’t mess with it too much.” He said quickly, shooting a glance to you that you could feel behind the gaze of his sunglasses. You pulled your hands away and nodded quickly. “My truck. My rules.” You nodded again.
“You got it sir.”
The trip was silent. Occasionally you and Diesel would talk. Diesel didn’t seem to be much of a talker though. Answers short and curt usually when you asked. However sometimes his answers had you intrigued, work as a bodyguard specifically.
“I mean I can understand why this guy would pick you. You could probably kick anyone's ass.” Your arm was resting against the window, hand propping your head up as you looked over to him.
Diesel chuckled for a moment. Shrugging his shoulders. “Eh. Pretty much. It was fun I guess. Paid good.”
“And your person?”
“My person?”
You rolled your eyes. “The person you guarded! Was he cool? Oh oh! Was he like a criminal?” You asked with excitement in your tone. “The president?”
“No no. No one big like that. Just a wrestler.”
“Wrestler...? The hell they need protection from?”
“With an ego like his? And a mouth that didn’t know when to stop? He needed all the help he could get.” He let out a small breath. “Shawn was cool… we were tight.”
“Like. Tight tight or…?” You trailed on with a quirked brow.
“Tight Tight.”
The answer was enough for you. Smiling as you looked forward. “Nice man…” you nodded, silence falling over the two of you again.
By the time the two of you had pulled into the stop the sun was beginning to fade, you stretched your arms with a small sigh. “So, you want me to hop off here? Or can I crash with you tonight?” You asked with a smile.
“I don’t care what you do. Whatever works for me. You’re not too much to handle.” He said with his own stretch before his hands landed back on the wheel.
Tap tap, ti tap tap.
You quirked your brow. Diesel looked over to you. Silent for a moment. “I’m gonna fill her up.” He said before getting up. You watched as he hopped out of the truck and towards the building. You let out a small huff, leaning back and going to turn up the radio to listen to whatever rock was playing on the radio.
Once the door opened you looked over. Seeing him place a receipt down on the seat before closing the door again. Glancing to the side mirror you watched as he went to fill up the tank. How much gas did these things even take… you couldn’t imagine how expensive it probably was. You glanced towards the receipt again. Picking it up and noticing the purchase of a shower too. Your heart skipped a beat, and you felt a heat growing in your lower stomach. You glanced towards the mirror again, catching the boot tapping against pavement… he had to know. He had too. You looked forward again. It couldn’t just be a coincidence, right? It had to be real. Once he finished filling the tank you watched him walk off the shower building. You swallowed a lump you hadn’t realized formed in your throat before watching him disappear behind the door.
You quickly unbuckled. Reaching behind yourself for your bag to sift through the contents. You were half worried you used your last condom.
With the guy with the van but, just as you were losing hope the packaged rubber found you. You almost shed a tear as you slid it in your pocket. Maybe God was on your side.
Jumping down from your seat and making your way to the numbered stall he chose. You stood in front of it for a few moments before shaking away your giddiness. you tried your best to mimic the tapping he did on the steering wheel with your knock.
Knock knock knknock knock.
You heard the lock click and you quickly went to push into the shower room with a grin on your face.
“Half worried you wouldn’t get it.” Diesel started with a smirk, and you rolled your eyes. He sat himself on the toilet in the stall. Legs spread with a cockiness radiating off of him almost.
“I’m not an idiot you know? I know what I’m doing?” You said as you walked over, wrapping your arms over his shoulders. A smile tugging on your lips. “Are you a no kissing guy?” You asked as you went to press yourself against him. “Cause that would make me really sad.” You pouted and Diesel chuckled.
“Hey I’m like you. Anything.” You grinned at his answers before leaning in to smash your lips against his. Luckily, he met your intensity, grabbing your hips to pull you into his lap. The two of you stayed like that for a while. Nipping at lips and feeling each other up before you pulled away with a pant. Lips red from the frantic make out session. “What’s the plan big guy?” You asked with a smile as you went to sink to your knees. Diesel shook his head.
“While I appreciate the offer I kinda wanna get straight to the point.” He said as he went to rest a hand under your chin to ease you back up. You chuckled softly.
“Oh! What a gentleman you are.” You chuckled and Diesel rolled his eyes.
“You got a rubber?” He asked and you reached into your pocket to reveal the packaged rubber. Diesel nodded and his eyes trailed to the shower.
You let out a sharp cry as he kept rapidly pounding into you. Your attempts to stay quiet futile as you felt your face pressed against the cool wall of the shower. You prayed there was no one in the one next door. You doubted they wanted to hear you getting your guts rearranged. Once he let go of your arms you used them to help prop you against the wall, your legs starting to shake with each thrust.
“Fuck! Fuck!” You yelled looking back. “Cmon Fuck me up!” You said before gasping as you felt his hand engulf your hip as he grunted in response and thrusted deep. Your legs nearly buckled as you saw stars. “Oh fuck… fuck fuck fuck Diesel.” You slurred hands struggling to grip at the wall. You went instead to Try and cling haphazardly to the small shelf in the shower. You felt him raise your hips slightly to get you to stand. Your back pressing against his wet chest as he used his free hand to grab you chin, making your turn to face him as he went to kiss you roughly again. You moaned deeply into the kiss as you felt a coil in your stomach snap, your back arching as you came, your body turning to jelly as Diesel quickened the pace of his own hips and you felt him shudder above you. His arms darted to wrap around you to Prevent you from falling forward. The two of you panted for a moment before you looked up to him with a small smile. He stared for a moment before giving you his own back with a chuckle.
The two of you sat in silence on the pavement outside, say for the hum of the overhead radio. Enjoying the delicacy of cheap truck stop chili dogs and a cigarette shared between both of you. The gentleman had offered after railing you. So far it had been the best aftercare yet on your trip. The Arizona air a bit chilled now under the light of the moon.
“So.” Diesel began after wiping his hands off with one of the napkins. You quirked a brow as you looked over taking another bite. “You sure you got nowhere specific to go?”
“Nah not really. Just doing my own thing.”
He nodded. Moving his gaze forward.
“I’m going up to Oregon for this delivery… you wanna stick for the ride?”
You smiled a bit. Looking forward as well towards his truck. “Yeah. I think that could be a nice change of scenery.”

Understanding the New GST Rate on Used Cars: What You Need to Know
The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council has recently announced a significant change in the taxation of used cars, setting a uniform GST rate of 18% on all used vehicles, including electric vehicles (EVs). This decision, made during the council's meeting on December 21, 2024, aims to simplify the tax structure and eliminate discrepancies that previously existed in the taxation of second-hand vehicles.
The New GST Framework
Previously, the GST rate for used cars varied depending on several factors, including engine size and type of vehicle. For instance, petrol vehicles with engines over 1200 cc and certain diesel vehicles were already subject to an 18% GST. However, many smaller used vehicles and EVs were taxed at a lower rate of 12%. The recent change means that all used cars sold by registered businesses will now be taxed uniformly at 18%, which applies only to the profit margin—the difference between the selling price and the depreciated purchase price.
Who is Affected?
It's important to note that this new GST rate applies primarily to transactions conducted by registered dealers or businesses. Individuals selling their used cars privately will not be affected by this change; they will continue to operate under the existing tax framework, which does not impose GST on private sales. This means that casual sellers can still sell their vehicles without incurring additional tax burdens.
Implications for Consumers and Dealers
The increase in GST for used cars has raised concerns among stakeholders in the automotive market. Many experts believe that this hike could lead to a slowdown in sales within India's substantial pre-owned car market, valued at approximately $32 billion. The higher tax rate may deter potential buyers who are already navigating a market influenced by fluctuating prices and economic conditions. Moreover, while new EVs enjoy a lower GST of 5% to encourage adoption, the increase to 18% for second-hand EVs could diminish their appeal in the resale market. This could potentially slow down the transition towards electric mobility as consumers might hesitate to invest in used EVs due to higher taxation.
Conclusion
In summary, the introduction of an 18% GST on all used cars sold by businesses marks a significant shift in India's tax landscape for automotive sales. While this move simplifies the tax structure, it also poses challenges for both dealers and consumers. As stakeholders adjust to these changes, it will be essential to monitor how this affects sales trends in the used car market moving forward. For individuals looking to sell or buy used cars, understanding these new regulations will be crucial in navigating their transactions effectively.-Written By Hexahome
