The Bridge - Chapter 1

What do I think about Meredith?  She’s great so far.  I soooo understand how she is so attached to the number three.  I too love the number three and nine.  She is also Irish, and I don’t have much opinion about that.  I will have to say I used to have an obsession with being Irish after reading Gone With the Wind.  Anyways Meredith seems to be a smart and responsible person, so she gets three thumbs up.  

The first scene of the story is the plane ride to Paris, and boy do I feel so bad for Marshall Freeman.  Marshall is the first person that Meredith spots on the plane that will be joining her, and she is just thinking “why is this kid always snacking???”.  The boy just wants his snacks, but he is just getting such a bad rep for snacking.  I mean who doesn’t like eating chips and chocolate.  I think the author wanted to create a poor miserable dork, but so far he’s been pretty relatable.  

As soon as Meredith asks Marshall about the fourth delegate, Pete Russel, the fourth delegate, arrives.  He gets seated next to Meredith, and they have a little sassy convo on how they keep staring at each other, the Fee charm on her bracelet, and her bff Drew.  I thought that tiny convo they had was pretty cute.  Seems like Meredith is also as witty as Pete.  Also, Pete pulling his hat down to go to sleep and giving Meredith a cliff hanger on what Drew said to him the night before was great.  

What do I think about Pete?  When Meredith was describing his facial hair, I was just thinking “oh please don’t make him a dark, cold, brooding type of guy!!!”. I hate cliches, and I don’t want another Mr. I hate chirpy people/ let me enjoy my mediocre life/ I don’t know what is like to love type of guy.  I don’t want to read a book about how the girl changes the guy and makes him connect with his feelings more.  And he’s wearing a chullo hat and is in a fraternity.  Now he just sounds douchey.  I told myself to just be patient with him, and I am so glad I did.

Wow, only the first chapter, and I already talked this much.  I was thinking each post would be a few chapters.  Let’s see how I handle the next few chapters.  Also, what are your first thought on those three characters?
