This phase of growth and development can either bring success or frustrations. Stress is nothing new in the stage of middle and late adolescence. No one is free from stress as it has a powerful impact on various aspects of our lives. Having a better understanding of where our minds go is crucial in coping well with stress and normal life problems.   At the end of the lesson in Personal Development, I got a chance to reflect on the experiences I had that somehow created stress. As a student myself, I am already familiar with the experience of stress. I am a consistent but casual overthinker — about negative thoughts, future career path, school demands, and frustrations that cycle through my brain at 3 a.m. Since we are in the middle of a pandemic, my mental health has been affected, but I know that these negative thoughts should not be practiced as a habit. Mental health is important at every stage of life as it can preserve our ability to enjoy life. Most importantly, we must connect our minds, such as our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, to change how our bodies respond.

We were task to create a mind map which would determine which part of the brain is much dominant for us. I discovered in myself that I am both a left and right brain dominant. However, I’m leaning towards the right brain. The right brain is usually known to be filled with creativity, spontaneity, and expression. These are personalities that I posses especially in terms of outputs such as photos and videos, decisions in my life and how I communicate with others. I find myself thrilled and excited whenever there are things that allows us to be creative because it’s a way that I can actually show what I can do and what I want to do. Basically, expressing myself in forms of art is something that made me lean towards being a right brain dominant.  Although, there are parts of me that is critical, organize and wants to get things done especially for school. I’m a perfectionist at times because I want to create the best outcome as possible. It makes me happy whenever my idea in mind turns out to be what I planned. Nonetheless, left or right brain dominant everyone is entitled to express themselves in the way that they want, may it be simple or creative, it is something that we must all appreciate and value.
