How to choose the best piano teacher
Searching for a piano teacher near me is no easy feat. There are many factors to consider when dealing with such a valuable instrument as the piano. Here you will find some information that should help you in your search for the right teacher for your child.
Choosing the best piano teacher for your child or student can be a difficult task. There are many factors to consider before you decide on cost, location, reputation, and the type of teaching method being used.
Choosing the best piano teacher is an important decision and you'll want to make sure you choose one that is right for you. There are several things to consider when looking at various teachers, such as their expertise in teaching and their personality. Let's explore what each of these factors means as well as how they're important for your decision process.
Choosing the best piano teacher is difficult enough. But choosing the right one can be even harder, especially if you're looking for a classical music teacher or vocal coach. There are tons of teachers out there and it can be hard to sift through them all.
Finding the right piano teacher can be a difficult task. There are many kinds of piano teachers and each has his or her approach to teaching.
To help you decide which type of piano teacher is best for you, we have broken down the different styles into four main categories:
Methodical approach: This is the most common type of piano teaching method, where students learn by following step-by-step instructions that are easy to understand.
Comprehensive approach: A comprehensive approach involves comprehensively learning all aspects of music, including theory, ear training, and performance techniques.
Analysis-based approach: This type of approach focuses on analyzing music through close listening or reading scores. It's very similar to an analytical approach used by musicians who perform in concert halls.
Directed reading: This type of lesson involves having students practice songs from books with detailed musical analysis provided by their teachers.
When you are considering a piano teacher for your child, choosing the right teacher is as important as any other decision you have to make. Finding a good piano teacher can be hard work because there are so many things to consider.
Ultimately, deciding on the best piano teacher for you depends on how you learn. If you learn better in a hands-on setting, then taking lessons from an experienced, live teacher may be a better fit. On the other hand, if you prefer to work on your music at home, then an online course may be right for you. Use the above guide to help make your decision, and when all is said and done, put the information to good use and get started on mastering that Chopin!
Finding the right piano teacher is more involved than simply going with the most-reviewed one in your area. It's an important decision because ultimately they're the ones who will be teaching you and shaping you into a skilled musician as you make that effort to learn how to play piano.

Personal Training Littleton CO
The Benefits of Crossfit Workouts for Fitness
Personal Training Littleton CO is an internationally popular fitness program created by Greg Glassman. It's a registered trademark of CrossFit, LLC, that was founded by Glassman and Mark Costello in 2021. CrossFit is one of the most recognized athletic clubs in the world with thousands of members and associates nationwide. Many corporate and private sector companies have joined in on the CrossFit craze. It's a great way to stay in shape without having to commit to a gym membership.
Tumblr media
Glassman designed the original CrossFit system to be a functional training program that promotes strength, endurance, and agility. In recent years the CrossFit workouts have been adapted for use by elite athletes. The workouts are designed to be extremely high intensity and frequently challenging for the competitive athlete.
One of the most common injuries suffered by crossfitters is low back pain. This is due to the fact that many Crossfit workouts require a very high level of energy expenditure and activity. Therefore, the individual should be well-hydrated and properly conditioned to withstand the intense physical activity.
One way to build up endurance is to perform multiple high intensity workouts. The first movement in any Crossfit workout should be the squat. For this movement, the lifter must lean against an invisible wall. Alternating knee extensions with hip flexion will help increase the distance and intensity of the squats. The ideal number of repetitions for each set of exercises should be limited to around eight to ten.
Another important facet of Crossfit workouts is breathing. Many people, who have never done yoga before, find it very difficult to do the workouts. To help ease the transition, it's best to start out by using a traditional yoga breathing method, such as deep diaphragmatic breathing. Once the body gets used to breathing in a certain way, you can then transition to deep breathing exercises, which are more comfortable and effective. The best way to start a new yoga routine is by learning as many different types of yoga workouts as possible.
Many Crossfitters prefer to have dry-cleansing wods instead of using an Olympic wod. An athletic wod is usually thicker and holds more water. A dry clean is made from Purell and consists of four parts: an antiseptic strip, bar soap, a powder and a towel. This type of cleanse can eliminate up to 99% of germs and toxins from your body.
If you are new to Crossfit or have been doing the program for a while but want to increase your intensity, one of the best ways to do so is by pairing the workouts with partner exercises. Having a partner will encourage you to push yourself past your comfort zone. By having someone to help you push yourself, you will also be able to push yourself more when going at it alone. If you want to increase your Crossfit level, there is no better way than having a friend or teammate to push you.
Another thing that is great about Crossfit is that all of the workouts can be done in the privacy of your own home. Unlike traditional gym workouts, you don't have to worry about wasting time fighting traffic or wasting money on gym memberships. Instead of having to drive down to the gym, go in your pajamas and workout in the comfort of your own home. If you're at a lower fitness level, you can also find Crossfit classes that will work for you even further without any special equipment or instructions.
Unlike traditional gym workouts, Crossfit workouts don't have to last an entire workout. Instead, you can do it over as many times as you'd like. This means that if you've been working out for weeks, you can get in a few extra reps here or there throughout the day. This is because you are always allowed two 'reps' per exercise. You won't need to worry about wasting time on a lengthy cardio session for the gym because you'll have plenty of time at home.
Crossfit workouts are known for their high intensity, short duration, and overall versatility. You can do hundreds of repetitions or cardio for as little as 10 minutes, depending on how dedicated you are. The reason for this is that the exercises are designed to be highly functional movements. Instead of running, you'd be doing push-ups, sit-ups, and running sprints.
Another reason for this is that the exercises themselves require you to do them in high intensity ranges. For example, instead of running on the treadmill, you'd be doing sprints in the dirt. When I first began Crossfit, I used to do a lot of miles in the woods and trails. It was intense but I found it to be very convenient. Today, I run cross country on my treadmill, so I wouldn't even know what the difference is unless I told you exactly what exercises I'm doing!

Most companies provide three types of assistance - the removal of your belongings on the day of the move, the transportation of your belongings and storage of your belongings while the movers are performing the actual move. The full service movers would use trucks with giant storage areas where you can store your belongings while the movers are doing the actual moving. You can also choose a full service moving company, which offers packing services at the same time. This would save you the trouble of packing your belongings on your own and allows you to concentrate on doing the actual moving.
The kind of assistance that movers provide depends on the moving company. For instance, full service moving companies would provide you with professional trucks equipped with giant storage areas for storing your belongings. It would also provide you with full assistance in loading and unloading the truck and transporting your belongings to your new home. On the other hand, smaller moving companies might not provide you with giant storage areas or transportation. They would, however, offer you the convenience of having your stuff moved to your new residence in one trip, which saves you both time and money.

The Melody of the Mulberries
(Big Creek Series, #2)
By Tonya Jewel Blessing
Historical Romance
Paperback & ebook, 248 Pages
September 1, 2019 by Capture Books
This sequel to The Whispering of the Willows is set in the late 1920s' Appalachia, where granny witches and spiritualism often show the path for wanderers to take, especially in matters of the heart.
This Big Creek sequel follows the lives and loves of two siblings. Coral determines to visit the family's nemesis, Charlie, now in prison for the rape of her sister, Emerald, and the murder of her inlaw. When Mercy re-enters brother Ernest's life, he has already found a new attraction in his elder brother's widow.
Coral sat in contemplation under a mulberry tree. It was spring, and the fragrant female blossoms promised the mid-summer arrival of first white, then pink, then crimson, and finally deep purple berries. The white berries were hard and tart and enjoyed by the quail, wild turkeys, mocking birds, and blue jays. The blackish purple berries were soft and sweet - perfect for pies and jams.
When the berries turned white, Coral would thank the good Lord for providing food for the birds. When the berries ripened she would thank the good Lord for the sweetness savored in her mouth and curse the birds for wanting more than their share.
Where Emerald Ashby's story leaves us in the last pages of The Whispering of the Willows, sixteen-year-old Coral Ashby's story begins. Like the changing mulberries, Appalachian siblings Coral and Ernest Ashby, navigate life through the late 1920s. Coral is determined to visit the family nemesis, Charlie, who now stews in prison.
When Ernest's previous love interest, Mercy, returns to the holler of Big Creek, she discovers that his heart is now singing a melody for Charlotte, the older Ashby brother's widow. But Mercy has brought along her own spiritual tools and a special friend who guides her way.
Accompanied by friends and foes, matters of the heart complicate life for Coral and Ernest. Relationships must be journeyed carefully.

EXCERPT: Charlie and Charley were coming to Big Creek. Charlie was a man. He had a spirit, soul, and body. He had grown up in the hills and been sent away because of the harm he had done to others. Coral had invited Charlie back to the holler. He wasn’t physically present, but, according to Emie, Coral might as well have sat him down at the table to enjoy Sunday family dinner. The other Charley was an evil spirit. He was ancient and from a faraway land but traveled with others when invited. His ways were frightening and mysterious. He was best left alone, but, had also been invited to Appalachia. Mercy, a returning resident, considered him a friend.

The Whispering of the Willows
(Big Creek Series, #1)
By Tonya Jewel Blessing
Historical Romance
Paperback & ebook, 396 Pages
February 2, 2016 by Capture Books
Young Emie isn't desperate for a man, but she is surrounded by a variety of them in the Appalachian holler of Big Creek. How does a young girl find her way, and grow strong, when life begins to spin out of control?
A 1920s' saga of Emerald Ashby coming of age.
Set against the superstitions and old time religion in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia, author Tonya Jewel Blessing tells a difficult, yet redemptive story of a blossoming young woman who is accompanied by her friends and her foes on a journey towards hope and healing. Love weaves through gut-wrenching circumstances and dismal poverty where Emerald Ashby grows strong despite grievous wrongs committed against her. In this desperate historical setting, mysterious disappearances lead to traps set for the innocent.
Now, when key individuals begin carving out a rescue plan, Emerald Ashby sets a few of her own traps. It's a page turner. In this ailing town. What will be their measure of success?
Cleverly suspenseful and sweetly spoken, the storyteller's unassuming voice transforms an Appalachian trail of tears into holy terror against an evil that stalks the innocent. In The Whispering of the Willows, an Appalachian marriage practice might be compared to the modern sex trade which exploits young females.
Not since Catherine Marshall's strong heroine named Christy, has an Appalachian drama come to life like The Whispering of the Willows.
Includes: Bibliography and Book Club Questions. A novel for women examining the Old Time Religion. Coming of age in the Southern Appalachians. If you love a story where the underdog surfaces and thrives, you'll love this story.

Counselor Littleton CO
An Overview Of Counseling Services
The Counselor Littleton CO Center offers a wide variety of therapeutic and educational programs to individuals, families, groups, couples, and businesses. Counselors with this service are highly trained to work with individuals experiencing emotional, relational, spiritual, mental health, legal, and career development challenges.
Tumblr media
There are many reasons why you may need a counseling service. Some people might feel that they do not know how to address or cope with issues that affect their lives. Others might feel overwhelmed by their day-to-day responsibilities, and a close friend might be having difficulty with something that is internal. While the counseling service can provide a solution for your problems, it is always best to seek assistance from an experienced professional.
The good thing about working with an outside professional is that they will be able to provide direction, accountability, and an outlet for their creativity. Some people find it helpful to have someone they can listen to while they seek help for their life issues. That is one reason why there are some counselors who offer a support group or counseling for parents or family members. Group sessions are also good for building social bonds and building confidence. They are good at resolving conflicts and helping people who are having difficulty with intimacy issues.
Counselor Littleton CO specializes in areas of crisis intervention, religious counseling, and group therapy. They also offer individual and couples counseling. Many counselors specialize in one area of focus, so if you have an issue, there is a good chance that a counselor who specializes in that area is right for you. Their goal is to work with each client to create a personalized program that will be beneficial to them.

New Columbine Interview; Evan Long, "The Columbine Cause"« on: October 31, 2010, 09:27:31 AM »http://s1.zetaboards.com/LooseChangeForums/topic/709947/1/ http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4441508264277337675 Evan Long on the "Zero Hour Power" television program hosted by David Eaton. The interview concerns Evan's video, "The Columbine Cause". http://www.xmail.net/evanlong/tcc/ Some of that work and an interview are presented at the link below. http://www.breakfornews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1993 Also I have been told that the entire Columbine area is what is called; "A Safe Commnity" by the U.S. Military and the CIA, NSA, DIA, etc. This kind of community is created specifically for former and reitred members of the U.S. Intelligence Community. Now not all people living there are ex-intel, but most are and every other family I talked to admits that the father or mother and in some cases both were ONI, G2, OSI, etc. There are also people in the community that were involved in the Denver International Airport land deals, total corruption there. http://truthwinds.com/siterun_data/health/crime_hate_crimes/news.php?q=1247331404 The evidence of multiple shooters is so strong that I can't see how anyone can dismiss it. Hundreds of eyewitness accounts! Those who want to know what really went down in Columbine.. These are your must-reads: CRTF's Report on Columbine: http://www.apfn.org/apfn/Columbine2.htm John Quinn's articles on Columbine: http://www.konformist.com/1999/colorado.htm Eric Hufschmid's interview with Donna Taylor: http://www.erichufschmid.net/Columbine-DonnaTaylor.html Hufschmid is a fake for sure, as he is the nephew of the Vatican's media mogul, Rupert Murdoch (Member of the Order of St. Gregory the Great) and covers for the Vatican. Donna Taylor, however, seems genuine and has a documented background as the mother of a student at Columbine who was wounded seven times. Also check out the work by 'starviego'/'starvosan'. He's gone all over the internet exposing Columbine as an op. The truth is.. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were products of MKULTRA. They were the patsies for an elite squad of at least six and likely well over that. Columbine was a covert operation carried out by the US military and the CIA/FBI/NSA/MI6, all of those agencies were at Columbine, according to researcher John Quinn. What is well-confirmed through eyewitnesses is the presence of NATO at Columbine. Why the hell were they there?! Well, get this: A colonel and a two-star general were also present. The Denver/Golden/Littleton area is a hub for covert government projects. Here are some facts about Columbine from researcher Starviego/Starvosan: Quote: --Why did numerous ear-witnesses say at least one attacker was firing a fully-automatic weapon? --Why did police concentrate on setting up a perimeter at the same time dispatch(via phone) is hearing the sound of gunshots within the school? --Why did it take police so long to enter the school, and why did it take almost three hours for them to reach the library, the area where the shooters were last seen? Who gave the orders not to go in? --Why did over 100 eye- and ear- witnesses dispute the official theory of only two shooters? Why did over 40 of those witnesses identify other participants BY NAME? --If the two shooters committed suicide shortly after noon, as police claim, how come at least 35 witnesses saw or heard suspects/gunshots/explosions after that time? --Why are there conflicting eyewitness accounts on the place and manner in which at least four of the dead victims were killed? Were victims being moved around? Was the crime scene being rearranged? --If left-handed Klebold shot himself in the left temple, why was his suicide weapon found clutched in his right hand? --How did students manage to keep seriously wounded teacher Dave Sanders alive for more than three hours while awaiting rescue, yet he was dead within 20 minutes of the police taking control of him? His corpse was later found with his shirt off. Is that first-aid? Or a sure-fire way of sending someone into shock? --What was the motive? Why would two teens who were not bullied, did not hate everyone, and were not psychopathic suddenly decide to destroy the lives of a dozen fellow students and themselves just six weeks before graduation? --Why would Harris and Klebold plan for a suicide mission and at the same time make normal plans for a post 4-20 future? Like seeking help on an English class essay from a teacher a few days before the attack, like making a date to see a movie the day after, like putting in a work schedule for the next week, like going to an out-of-town college with your dad to pick out a dorm room, like making plans to visit your old friends in New York. --Where is the gun shot residue(GSR) test evidence for Harris and Klebold and the other suspects? --Why was fingerprint evidence for Harris and Klebold not found on all but two of the hundreds of obects gathered at the scene? Whose fingerprints, if any, were found on the weapons seized? --Why does the official story claim, without a shred of evidence, that it was Harris and Klebold that set the South Wadsworth diversionary bomb (an incendiary device that exploded a couple of miles away from the school at the same time the shooting started)? --Why did authorities claim the two shotguns seized had no serial numbers when later documents clearly show they did have serial numbers? Why did they not try to find out who sold Harris and Klebold the Hi-Point 9mm rifle and the pump-action shotgun that were used in the shooting? --Were the school administrators warned, as rumored? Who was Principle Frank DeAngelis looking for, as reported by one student who saw him running up and down the interior cafeteria stairs right before the shooting broke out? --Why did a science teacher tell his students that they had been expecting a fire drill? Was a bomb found in a trash can on 4-19, as one source indicated? Were bomb threats phoned into the school on the morning of 4-20, as two others claimed? --Why didn't the Final Report conclude that shooters entered Science rooms 1 and 8, when numerous shell casings were taken from these areas? --Why didn't the Final Report mention the brief exit of a shooter on the east side, according to many eyewitnesses? --If the person seen on the roof of the school was a repairman, as police claim, why do witnesses say he was holding a weapon? Were shell casings found there, as some said? --Who scheduled 'crisis training' drills at Columbine High Schol(CHS) in the weeks before and what was the exact nature of this training? --What was a Denver police officer and a JeffCo sheriff doing at CHS that morning before the shooting started? --What does reputed video evidence from the library and admin office areas show? Why does local media refuse to release on-scene video footage from the first half-hour of the incident? --What happened to all the evidence taken from the computers of the trenchcoat mafia gang? --Where are dozens of missing interviews of students, especially those in the science hall? Why are there still thousands of pages of investgatory materials that have never been made public, including hundreds of reports of non-Columbine witnesses and tipsters? --Why has the school district's own report on the shooting, which included the extensive disciplinary records of the trenchcoat mafia associates, not been made public? --Did investigators even try to interview Harris' psychologist, the man perhaps best positioned to know his mental state at the time? --Why did investigators show a remarkable lack of curiousity about connections with numerous similar school violence-related incidents occuring around the same time in the metro-Denver area and around the country? --Why did LAPD and Los Angeles Sheriff's Office personnel travel to the scene afterwards? What was the subject of a 10-minute phone call made by the NYPD to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office on 4-20? --Who invited the FBI and the ATF to the scene? --Why was the US Attorney's Office (federal) consulted on 'prosecutive decisions' for this local crime? --Why was all but one of the seven 'investigatory' teams headed or co-headed by an FBI man? (the one exception was a team headed by a CBI(Colorado Bureau of Investigation) man, who was himself 'ex'-FBI) Was the entire crime scene 'federalized' soon after the shooting started, under powers granted by the 'Anti-terrorism Act' ("for the protection of the people and the state") signed by President Clinton exactly three years before- on April 20, 1996? --Why did FBI special agent Dwayne Fusilier not recuse himself from the investigation, as his son helped make a Columbine school video two years before that eerily mimicked the shooting? --What were two high-ranking military figures (a colonel and a general) in cami uniforms doing at the scene? Why was a memorial service at a public park afterwards ringed by military trucks? Who authorized a flyover by military jets and why? --Why did the Federal Emergency Management Agency(FEMA) hold a four-day disaster training course 18 months before, "designed specially to adress the needs of Jefferson County," for future Sheriff John Stone and other county representatives? --Is it just coincidence that the episode of CBS' television show "The Promised Land" that was scheduled to air that week featured a kid firing a gun in front of a Denver high school? Or that the plot of the WB's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" for that week was a student gunman and a plot to kill every one at school? Or that MTV aired a Justice Department-produced program called "Warning Signs" about violence and its effect on young people on 4-22-99 (date was scheduled before Columbine)? --When ABC's "20/20" news program decided to do a show about a disturbing new educational phenomenom called 'Death Education,' back in the early '90s, why did they choose Columbine High as the featured school? And of course, at the time of the massacre, the CIA director (George Tenet) was a Jesuit-trained Knight of Malta and the FBI director was Louis Freeh, a devout Roman Catholic, an alleged member of Opus Dei who sent his son to an Opus Dei school. The President at the time, Bill Clinton, was Jesuit-trained at Georgetown University. Clinton, his wife, and his Vice President Al Gore all had Chiefs of Staff. All of those Chiefs of Staff were Jesuit-trained at Georgetown University. So, Columbine happened under a Jesuit-controlled regime, and the key agencies involved (CIA & FBI) were directed by Vatican-connected individuals when the attack took place. In addition, we cannot deny that the military would be involved in such an operation. Zabel discusses the "strangeness" surrounding Columbine High itself, a school which was built on a sacrificial ground. He describes a very present occult "side" to the town and school. Many Wiccans/Satanists were in the community, and the priests were also interested in satanism. After Columbine, a Wiccan symbol was placed on the ceiling of the new library -- a grove of trees. The special-ed teacher (Judy Greco), according to Zabel, is an admitted Wiccan who stated that she used a military-grade device to put her class under a "trance". http://www.binnallofamerica.com/boaa4.20.9.html And here's Michael Moore discussing the strong connection between the town and the Military-Industrial Complex: Quote: I think this could have happened anywhere and that's the scary thing. But I wanted to put it into some sort of context. And, and the nut of that context came when I just happened to ask somebody in Littleton, so who's the largest employee here and she said Lockheed Martin. I said, you've got to be kidding me, Lockheed Martin? It's the world's number one defense contractor. The biggest weapons maker in the world. And I thought, gee I wonder why nobody ever mentioned that. I mean there isn't, you know, A to B correlation here. It's, you know, otherwise they'd be a shooting at Columbine everyday. I mean, that's not the reason Columbine happened. But I began thinking about the larger context of this, this fabric of our society. And all the threads that weave into the fabric of what a violent, violent nation we are. Toward each other and toward the rest of the world. And just driving around Denver, seeing those pods that are out there on the other side of town communicating with the Pentagon satellites. Going to the Lockheed factory where they built the rockets. Uh, Mike those are rockets for Direct TV And what else? Um, weather satellites. And what else? Um, private Pentagon payloads we're not allowed to discuss The parents in Littleton go to work to build rockets that send up into space satellites and telecommunication devices that will allow us to watch the missiles anywhere in the world on Armageddon day. But just like those of us who come from Flint, Michigan, who build the one thing that will be responsible for melting the polar ice caps and never questioning what that is we're building as we go to work each day. No one ever questions anything. Nobody ever asks about what the larger consequences of all this is. And just driving around this area and seeing the dependency on weapons in the Denver area from the Air Force base that this stuff is shipped from to the Air Force Academy where that B52 bomber, that bomber that participated in one of the largest bombing campaigns ever, the Christmas bombing of Vietnam in 1972. And they've got a plaque on there proudly proclaiming that this bomber, this B52 killed thousands upon thousands of Vietnamese, innocent civilians. That's the Denver that we don't discuss. Rocky Flats, Norad, the missile silos all around the state. That's what we don't want to discuss. What's that got to do with this. It's all part of the same American mentality that says that it's okay to use violence as a means to an end. Whether it's in the home or whether it's in Iraq. That has got to stop. That has to to stop folks. I watched the footage of that day, April 20th, 1999. And I noticed that the police weren't go into the school. And I'm watching tape after tape after tape. http://crtf.yuku.com/topic/860/t/Devon-Adams.html The mother of Mark Taylor (Columbine survivor) said that her son told her (before the massacre) that the school was strange. All they did was watch television in the classrooms, he said, and drugs were everywhere. The Taylors moved into the area and Mark began attending the school only three weeks before the shooting. http://www.erichufschmid.net/SonSensedSchoolWasWeird.mp3 The principal went to school with Bill Clinton. http://www.erichufschmid.net/ClintonAndPrincipal.mp3 On the day of the massacre, a vast amount of students were absent. http://www.erichufschmid.net/HalfOfStudentsDidntShowUp.mp3

How Google Took Over the Classroom
By Natasha Singer, NY Times, May 13, 2017
CHICAGO--The sixth graders at Newton Bateman, a public elementary school here with a classic red brick facade, know the Google drill.
In a social-science class last year, the students each grabbed a Google-powered laptop. They opened Google Classroom, an app where teachers make assignments. Then they clicked on Google Docs, a writing program, and began composing essays.
Looking up from her laptop, Masuma Khan, then 11 years old, said her essay explored how schooling in ancient Athens differed from her own. “Back then, they had wooden tablets and they had to take all of their notes on it,” she said. “Nowadays, we can just do it in Google Docs.”
Chicago Public Schools, the third-largest school district in the United States, with about 381,000 students, is at the forefront of a profound shift in American education: the Googlification of the classroom.
In the space of just five years, Google has helped upend the sales methods companies use to place their products in classrooms. It has enlisted teachers and administrators to promote Google’s products to other schools. It has directly reached out to educators to test its products--effectively bypassing senior district officials. And it has outmaneuvered Apple and Microsoft with a powerful combination of low-cost laptops, called Chromebooks, and free classroom apps.
Today, more than half the nation’s primary- and secondary-school students--more than 30 million children--use Google education apps like Gmail and Docs, the company said. And Chromebooks, Google-powered laptops that initially struggled to find a purpose, are now a powerhouse in America’s schools. Today they account for more than half the mobile devices shipped to schools.
“Between the fall of 2012 and now, Google went from an interesting possibility to the dominant way that schools around the country” teach students to find information, create documents and turn them in, said Hal Friedlander, former chief information officer for the New York City Department of Education, the nation’s largest school district. “Google established itself as a fact in schools.”
In doing so, Google is helping to drive a philosophical change in public education--prioritizing training children in skills like teamwork and problem-solving while de-emphasizing the teaching of traditional academic knowledge, like math formulas. It puts Google, and the tech economy, at the center of one of the great debates that has raged in American education for more than a century: whether the purpose of public schools is to turn out knowledgeable citizens or skilled workers.
The director of Google’s education apps group, Jonathan Rochelle, touched on that idea in a speech at an industry conference last year. Referring to his own children, he said: “I cannot answer for them what they are going to do with the quadratic equation. I don’t know why they are learning it.” He added, “And I don’t know why they can’t ask Google for the answer if the answer is right there.”
Schools may be giving Google more than they are getting: generations of future customers.
Google makes $30 per device by selling management services for the millions of Chromebooks that ship to schools. But by habituating students to its offerings at a young age, Google obtains something much more valuable.
Every year, several million American students graduate from high school. And not only does Google make it easy for those who have school Google accounts to upload their trove of school Gmail, Docs and other files to regular Google consumer accounts--but schools encourage them to do so. This month, for instance, Chatfield Senior High School in Littleton, Colo., sent out a notice urging seniors to “make sure” they convert their school account “to a personal Gmail account.”
That doesn’t sit well with some parents. They warn that Google could profit by using personal details from their children’s school email to build more powerful marketing profiles of them as young adults.
Google, a unit of the $652 billion Alphabet, is the latest big contender in a decades-old battle among tech companies to hook students as future customers. “If you get someone on your operating system early, then you get that loyalty early, and potentially for life,” said Mike Fisher, an education technology analyst at Futuresource Consulting, a research company.
Google captured these next-generation users so quickly by outpacing its rivals in both educational product development and marketing.
In 2013, while other tech firms seemed largely content to sell their existing consumer and business offerings to schools, Mr. Rochelle, a co-developer of Google Docs, set up a team at Google to create apps specifically for schools.
To spread those tools, Jaime Casap, Google’s global education evangelist, began traveling around the country with a motivational message: Rather than tout specific Google products, Mr. Casap told educators that they could improve their students’ college and career prospects by creatively using online tools.
“Teachers really helped to drive adoption of Google in the classroom, while Apple and Microsoft continued to leverage traditional sales channels,” said Phillip DiBartolo, the chief information officer of Chicago Public Schools.

Roofing Contractors in Littleton CO Receives New Five-Star Review
Ropa Roofing, a firm based in Golden, Colorado that offers roofing services in Littleton and neighboring areas, has announced with pride that they have recently received a new five-star review from a satisfied customer. The company trains local roofing professionals to enable them to handle all types of roofing projects. They have formed partnerships with some of the best roofing brands like GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed, and more. They provide residential roofing, commercial roofing, and other services like gutter installation, siding repair, hail damage repair, and storm damage claims.
For residential roofing, they offer several services. These include roof shingles, asphalt shingles, metal roofing, wood shake roof, roof tiles, slate roof, and window installation. For commercial roofing, they offer EPDM flat roofing, PVC roofing, TPO flat roofing, and torch down roofing. They want to point out that their primary mission is to make their customers’ lives easier, ensuring that they provide the appropriate services for their customers from day one. There are a number of factors that make Ropa Roofing stand out among the crowd. These include the provision of free estimates, excellent customer service, friendly and professional roofers, speed and efficiency, long-lasting and great-looking roofs, warranties for materials and workmanship, and 15 years of experience in roofing.
In the latest Ropa Roofing customer review, Tim F. gave them a five-star rating and said, “The owner Brent [is the] most honest, trustworthy, down-to-earth person I’ve come across in the roofing business. And I’ve dealt with a ton of roofers. Don’t hesitate to go with Ropa! The whole team is phenomenal.”
For residential roofing, they offer new installations, replacements, and maintenance. For new installations, they can provide architectural shingles, metal, slate, clay tiles, wood shake, and more. Some homeowners go for a replacement because they want another kind of roof for their recently-purchased home or their roof has been damaged beyond repair. And for those who want their roofs to last, yearly inspections can be provided to ensure that any issues with the roofing can be corrected as early as possible to prevent the issue from becoming worse.
For commercial roofing, they can provide EPDM flat roofing services. Commercial property owners with flat roofs often choose EPDM because it is durable and long-lasting, cost-effective, and offers excellent insulation and ultraviolet rays protection. Ropa Roofing guarantees roof installation, repair, or replacement using the EPDM roofing material.
They also offer roofing installation, repair, or replacement using PVC roofing materials. PVC roofing has been observed to offer the best when it comes to weather-resistance and flexibility. PVC roofing is a single-ply membrane that is available in various sizes and thicknesses. PVC roofs are reinforced with talc and fiberglass, allowing them to resist strong winds, fires, chemicals, UV rays, and more. PVC roofs offer excellent insulation and can handle heavy foot traffic. This type of roofing also requires minimal maintenance compared to other single-ply flat roof membranes.
Thermoplastic polyolefin or TPO roofing is for those who want a durable roof that is highly energy-efficient. TPO is made from rubber and other substances that contribute to its strength and its highly reflective surface that prevents heat from penetrating. And finally, Ropa Roofing offers torch down roofing for commercial buildings. This is an extremely popular type of commercial roofing because of its capability to withstand extreme weather and temperatures and has a lifespan lasting for decades. Torch down roofing also offers enhanced leak resistance, safety, and property insulation. Furthermore, while tar and gravel roofs make use of similar multilayering and torching techniques as torch down roofing, materials for torch down roofing are less noxious than tar, thus ensuring safer indoor air quality.
Homeowners and other property owners who need roofing contractors in Littleton CO and nearby areas may want to check out the Ropa Roofing website or contact them on the telephone or through email. They are open 24 hours a day, from Monday to Sunday. However, customers are advised to contact them first because hours or services may vary because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
