Session 39 One Step Down

(Session cut short due to sickness! Mostly fluff)

In which Nat and Greyson are okay, Eli finds home in a basement and Gabi needs to learn to drive

After a discussion on what to do about the Tremere™ Percival, the current prisoner high-skilled, highly-connected Tremere and Ichabod’s ally, Gabi mentions house-hunting together. They need space for her childe Callum too. He’s moving out right. Right? Is this a Nosferatu thing? Eli leaves Gabi and goes to meet with Natanel to check in on Greyson.

Nat is exhausted and in pain. Unburdening the Beastial Soul really takes it out of a fella. He is observed on the Tube by a mystery ghoul, who loses him in the crowd. The coterie go to meet Greyson to check in on the other side of that Unburdened Beastial Soul. He’s about as okay as one can expect, memories are flooding back to him.

Greyon’s chimera cat Snowball is yowling to be let out. The other chimera cat Luna is missing. Greyson lets them in and they talk memories, trauma, crimes. So many crimes. Actually, Greyon’s newly recovering memories will be helpful for addressing Ichabod’s trail of chaos. He thanks Nat for the soul washing, and Eli for the Ichabod slaying.

Greyson: I wasn’t meant to be a Malkavian

Natanel: join the club (playful smile)

Natanel doesn’t want to have the job title Baron of Eastbourne, nor Peace Envoy, maybe Diplomat? Maybe? Camarilla council meetings will be interesting going forward. The Ravnos, Natanel’s boss, Dr Kostin will be joining them. And Callum. So uh, how old is Gabi’s childe Callum? HMM.

Eli tells Greyson Luna threatened him in the umbra. (Natanel: I’m not really fond of your cat if I’m honest.) As they leave Greyson ?? potentially ? passions Snowball. God forbid a Malkavian do anything.

They go house hunting with Gabi. But first they need to get there. Gabi insists on driving. Can she drive? Nope! She manages to drive on the correct side of the road. Reassuring. The first place is a murder house, complete with ghosts. The stairs are too narrow.

Gabi: how would we get your stuff up the stairs?

Eli: we can’t live here

The next place neighbours Miasma’s. It’s huge. A bit dilapidated. Eli struggles. There are marble floors, columns, there is a garden. He really struggles. This is a Nice House. The kind of house Other People, People Not Like Him live in. There's even a room for Gabi's "husband-in-law" (Kuro). Eventually they go down to the basement, which is caved in, mouldy, damp and exactly what he is used to. He’s able to calm down enough for the others to reiterate that he can have nice things.

Natanel waves goodbye to Miasma’s house. He responds telepathically. The third flat is horrible. Shiny. The toilet is shiny. Why is there a shiny toilet.

Eli and Gabi go back to his underground disused train station home, which smells Antique and slightly damp and exactly like home. Natanel goes back to Hector’s, to talk everything that happened, with Greyson, their future, their wedding, they agree supernaturals are all just awful in their own ways. They squish hug on the sofa. As long as they are together, Hector says a cardboard box is fine.

Actually, he wants a cardboard box. A nice one. Natanel will put a blanket inside and a blanket on top. He’s make the best cardboard box bed for his husband.

The next day is interrogating Percival time. Eli makes the mistake of letting Gabi dress him. She shaves his beard (crime). He tries to convince her that maybe diving lessons are a good idea if she doesn’t want a chauffeur. Natanel gets ready with his usual crop-top and hoodie, and the two meet at the Mithrarium.

I hear they’re known to be [ humble & charismatic ] and [ quick-tempered & a workaholic ]. if asked, they would say their aesthetic would be [ engraved pens, tailored suits, the scratch of vinyl records, the smell of eggs in the morning ].

Biography

The first five years of Percival’s life were near perfect. He was an only child with a dad that taught him to throw a baseball and a mother that adored him to pieces. Then his little sister, Greyson, came along and everything changed. Shortly after Greyson was born, their mother passed away and his life was turned upside down. He was forced to watch as his father took out his anger and despair of losing their mom on his sister, and then washed away the pain with alcohol. At the age of 6 Percival was forced to grow up, throwing his childhood behind him. He took on the responsibility of watching after and caring for his little sister since their father was too busy keeping the fridge stocked with booze.

Despite having lost his mother and growing up watching as his father abuse his little sister, Percival never lost his good spirit. He took pride in caring for Greyson. He never loved anyone as much as he loved his sister. He’d devoted his life to watching after her, willing to do whatever it takes to keep a smile on her beautiful face.

Growing up with his father was hardly bearable but he stuck around for his sister’s sake. As soon as she graduated from high school, their old man long since removed from their lives, Percival decided it was time he started to care for himself. Although, it was a difficult decision with his sister’s mental state; poisoned by their father. He’d left their home in Washington and moved to California where he got a job in law, wanting to protect the world from people like his father.

With his distance, Percival soon learned it only aided in his sister’s poor mental state. He went back home and picked her up, bringing her to to live with him along the ocean. After a year had gone by, his sister was finally getting on her feet and he had had his heartbroken. He made another hard decision, leaving his sister behind again, and moved to Georgia with a job offer from a law firm there. This time, though, he was running. Running from the woman who he had thought was the love of his life, who had decided she couldn’t stay faithful to Percival.

Hallooo!! Hope you’re having a g’day! I’ve been wondering for a while, who are characters in Golden Antlers? Their official names and maybe a little fun fact you’d like to share? :0

Oh my Goodness! Hello!

My day's just been Made thanks to this ask! Thank you! It was such a delight to wake up to. I had no idea anyone had any interest in this little story of mine!

I like to illustrate my ask answers, so here's a quick little thing for ya.

We can list them off!

1. The Puppeteer

Percival Greyson

This is the individual who is In Charge of the universe of Golden Antlers.

Most notably, he does not want his name to be known, and he has donned the title of The Puppeteer.

He is a Very Important individual in this world, and he created The Bartender.

2. The Bartender

Santiago

The Puppet to The Puppeteer. He is a living experiment. A puppet to tell stories and live its own life.

Santiago is his own person, but Never sees anyone. He is essentially alone in this universe. He occasionally goes to visit Valeria, but he prefers to stay alone in his bar after being abandoned by The Puppeteer.

3. The GOD

The Creator

This is the Creator of the universe of Golden Antlers. They are Never seen. Nobody knows they exist.

They created the Greyson siblings. They created the siblings as an experiment. The entirety of this universe is an experiment to them.

They simply want to see what will happen.

4. M.A.R.I.

Maintenance And Repair Identity

MARI is exactly what it stands for. It was designed for the purpose of maintaining the server room which The God resides in.

The God is far too large to get down there and repair them. MARI was designed to do exactly that. Nobody knows it exists either.

5. Valeria Greyson

Twin Older Sister to Percival Greyson. She is a collector of moments of time. She keeps them displayed in her assigned building to have physical memories of the timeline that they reside in.

She has a face as opposed to her White Void that you see depicted above, but she doesn't often wear it.

Technically there are no main characters, but to The Puppeteer, The Bartender was the main character up until a particular incident.

Session 27 highlights

This was a wild ride. It was also the first full length session we’ve had for a while. Trying to keep this as concise as possible.

Eli and Nat both are set to meet with others alone, they set a codeword “shucks” to mean “help”. If something goes wrong, they’ll say or message something with “shucks” in it. THIS BECOMES VERY RELEVANT.

Eli meets Kuro in a toreador safe house hotel room (why are you there, bae?) after serious chat they move to the hot tub for hot-wait no, so Kuro can say yay he found someone to embrace Aiden so Eli doesn’t need to worry about anything, also Eli should break up with Gabi.

They start getting down to business and Kuro offers his neck like so many times before, but the beast starts barking danger so Eli doesn’t feed, Kuro gets insistent. This leads to the both of them frenzying in the tub and scrapping. There’s feathers and fur and blood. Eli is able to overpower him and eventually they emerge from frenzy for sad hug time.

Nat goes to meet his sire Gunther at the park in the snow. They have a nice conversation, then Nat has the idea to learn sword-fighting. It takes some time for Gunther to play, but the two of them play sword-fighting with sticks. It’s the happiest Gunther has seemed in a while.

Then Gunther screams out. Did you forget about that garou Nat accidentally ghouled? The one that now sees his domitor being attacked? Yeahhh. Soren attacks Gunther, Nat is able to command him away and in the moment screams he should “walk to Edinburgh”. (Note: Edinburgh is 608km/378 miles away). Gunther is able to heal but storms away.

Eli decides to try side-stepping again, now he’s in furry form. He uses one of the hotel mirrors and is able to! It’s darker here. It’s different to usual. No cobwebs. It’s thorny, especially where the husbands fought. He steps out into the corridor and it’s pitch dark. He can hear footsteps and for whatever reason, decides to follow.

It’s Nat! Wait, what? He’s crying, barefoot, holding one arm behind his back, with hospital IVs. He calls out for help. Remember that codeword from earlier? Good, because this creature doesn’t know it. Eli retreats back to the hotel room while it slowly walks after him. Nothing like panic to help teach side-stepping, huh? The first attempt doesn’t work, the creature gets closer, but fortunately the second time is successful.

He emerges back into the world to an unsympathetic husband confused why he was gone for 2 hours. They cover the mirrors but both fully furry it’s not like they can walk out into the streets of Central London. After calling Nat to see he’s not trapped in a horrible mirror world, Eli and Kuro destroy the room and each other, in the fun way (and gosh, not even with humanity 8 ghjgfkjg). Toreadors will regret letting two gangrels into the room.

Nat and Gabriel play in the snow and make a snow giant. The next night is also excellent but the post is getting long, they visit the nagaraja Jayden and Nat asks for a job, they return the Tremere ritual knife Nat stole and are given the task to investigate suspected rogue Tremere Percival. He rejects Nat who wasn’t even flirting.

Hector is back! He gives them gifts to protect them from the wyrm. (Eli: you… do know what we are, right? Nat: we’re wyrmy :D) Eli surreptitiously gets Hector’s ring size and Nat buys an engagement ring.

Back to drama! They receive a phonecall from Greyson summoning them to a meeting. He has an offer for them; work with him, help him with his gargoyle-making, diablery-enjoying mission and he’ll compensate them. Oh, and also not release their secrets. If they don’t… well. He’s on a mission of justice to cleanse sinners. Oh, they’re alright, most of their friends are too. Kuro though, well, he’s committed the sin of his allies (the toreadors).
