I don't think anyone who frequently tells people to kill themselves or launches into foaming at the mouth "fucking freak bitch cunt freak" etc insult tirades over online arguments or minor slights warrants respect. I think its very often an indicator that their politics and opinions, no matter how good, are motivated more to feed the ego and to vent pent up aggression and feelings of inadequacy and less out of compassion or practical desire to improve the lives of others. oh my god get ready because this took me looking through my asks back until early 2017. i got whiplash reliving some of these. narrowed many moments down to the best ones. behold some of my most chaotic/dumb interactions on tumblr, from most recent to least:

‘cocaine girl do not die in that earthquake’ okay so. cocaine girl was one of the funniest commenters i have ever had the pleasure of knowing on my most popular fic. one day in her comment she said ‘there’s an earthquake happening rn hope i don’t die sskksksks’ and then she vanished. she didn’t comment for several chapters. i was super fucking worried you guys i thought she died or didn’t like my fic anymore. according to my memory she came back like weeks later in my comment section like ‘lmao yeah something hit my head during the earthquake and i was in the hospital for five days im ok now tho’ 10/10

re: playing dante's route: went for the bad end today! its so funny that nearly all the problems in the 2nd half of dante and nicola's routes would have not happened at all if nicola and dante had a dialogue first. like, "bro, hey, when we were kids u said u didnt want to be mafia anymore do u still believe that", and dante went, "lol ive been groomed into this role, i cant imagine doing anything else also ive found that this id my way of protecting the town and i want to continue that", and idk maybe nicola would say "ok then *cancels plans wirh gilbert*" and tell him togive more shits abt actually managing the family.

anyway that's my imagination, i dont want to actually write a fanfiction on this so ill stop

but this bad end was??? so???

1st of all. the anti church sentiments during dante's meeting with the lao-shu was. hm mr yang are you sure you're not just doing this for entertainment lmao. after having to do some cl homework it was a very satisfying read

2nd. the voice acting. the way the casino guy said "grazie, signore!" rlly made my day then reminded me he had the same va as shirotani from ten count. also reminded me that i wanted to do voice acting and singing back then but i never worked on that. nobuhiko okamoto's roles are always the same archetype?? back then it was karma akabane, then rin okumura, bakugou from bnha, and idv merc theyre all very delinquent type people. tho id say yang isnt like rhe general delinquent, more like some evolved version of karma akabane. im not complaining tho i love his stuff. and dante's voice actor. idk who he is but his delivery during ch9 bad end was pretty great. cherry on the icing. or ice cream??

3rd. i could mostly predict what was going to happen in the bad end but admittedly i was surprised by dante or mc not getting sacrificed. u shouldve heard me muttering to myself when they were abt to go to church. "gilbert is pious he wouldnt kill anyone at church" yeah he wouldnt but NICOLA WOULD. he didnt and that also surprised me. i thought dante wouldnt kill gil, bc he killed nicola out of surprise right? then he pulls the trigger. ok fam, st peter can talk to you himself.

4th. seeing lan alive and not going mad out of grief reminded me. im pretty sure lee drugged her but why? i mean im also pretty sure yang instructed him to. was she not an instrumental subordinate? or was she too distracted from fei's dying that she became unproductive.

5th, disappointed at how "being mad" is used for reasoning of anyone slightly villainous. its v dehumanzing when its actually being caused by humane reasons. for example the casino guy. he didnt do it bc he was mad he did it for the bottom line; lan didn't go berserk at falce just because of the drugs she was already thinking abt it beforehand; bad end nicola was an extreme response to death and grief and roberto is well, typical serial killer stuff, some feeling of oppression and the only way out is by violent justice. it loses all nuance when "going mad" is the reason.

6th, good end dante and mc consider themselves equals within the mafia and their relationship, with each their set of duties (dante protects victor, victor makes sure he doesnt forget his goal). in contrast, the bad end duo has a clear distinction between them despite deliberate public attachment. dante very clearly sees himself as a protector while mc worries about him, a more passive sort of role, also theyre both not so honest with each other.

7th, pretty sure dante is a *ghosts one-night stand* guy.

all in all it was a very, very different flavor to nicola's bad end. i like the relationship presented here, pretty good mix of side characters, lore was a lot but not so infodumped (bad end was a great palette cleanser), pretty sure therell be some good closure in the best end regarding dante and nicola's relationship, and nice set up for the future routes. its a nice contrast against nicola's route lmao. did i mention i got that guy's best end yesterday? contrast indeed. still havent written my post abt that. i will say tho, i think nicola's route spoiled me i keep expecting dubcon scenes now lmfaoo

going for orlok's route next, then back to dante's best end or maybe nicola's good end, we'll see. i like yang a lot more honestly, but save the best for last ig? also where tf is orlok lol. i still cant believe he has a route while roberto doesnt.

Lucasfilm tore down the gate they were gate-keeping with, and they are truly never going to get over it.

I mean I get it, I love Mara Jade. Jaina Solo was literally the first fictional character I ever fell in love with, and who doesn’t enjoy Rogue Squadron’s antics?

But saying Legends is a different universe, it doesn’t devalue those stories, it simply acknowledges they are something different, and then places them in their own separate world where they can live and breath as their own unique thing.

I think what is most telling is most often these fans do not want to engage at all in conversation about why certain elements stayed and others left, or what the stories actually mean and imply. They just want to collect their facts and have them be true, that is all, no actual critical engagement with the stories.

Like I feel there is a huge difference between the people who do that and folks who say… are very into Clones as these Mando’a speaking people with a connection to Mandalore on the whole, you never see them pull this sort of temper tantrum over the changeover. Yeah, in canon the Clones have literally zero connection to Mandalore whatsoever, even Jango Fett has nothing to do with Mandalore, but that’s ok because they are doing their own thing. They are engaging with the text in a different manner than the “Well actually in Legends” crowd.

Which doesn’t mean you don’t see this attitude cropping up in Canon conversations as well. Like when we first saw images of occupied Lothal, and I saw people on reddit complain that we saw the Empire pollute and use industry to oppress the populace in both Catalyst and Lost Stars, and in Thrawn Pryce made it clear that was her vision for Lothal’s future. They claimed the fact we were seeing it again was bad writing, because they should do something different this time. That really gelled for me that like… when they say bad writing they often don’t mean “this isn’t logically consistent, true to the characters and world, and respectful of the real one at the same time” instead they mean “I want new cool facts to collect, and when the world building is consistent in this way I am left having to accept that EVERYONE will know this thing, even if they haven’t read any of the books.”

Not every decision made has been a perfect one, and a lot of amazing things got lost, but new stuff is always being made that often touches on what once was there (Timothy Zahn once said in an talk at google, which is up on youtube, that Leland Chee told him LucasFilm is very well aware that every single part of the old massive Legends EU was once at least one fan’s very most favorite thing, and they try to respect that when working on canon) and there are fun conversations to be had about the differences and what they imply.

Y’all I saw  Bandstand last night

Warning this is literally 7 pages worth of writing so long post ahead 

Where do I even begin oh god

Ok so first off the Jacobs theater is absolutely stunning

Like wow

So we were sitting right orchestra like row H or something

We were pretty close to the stage

ThE sTaGe

Like the drum kit was so nice

Generally the stage set up was fantastic

Ok so we’re waiting for the show to begin when I hear a group of girls who were sitting behind us freaking out

I couldn’t really hear what they were saying except I heard one of them say something like “Anthony Rapp is here”

I was like holy shit

That ain’t true

Then my friend leans over all excited

She was like “Did you hear them? Anthony Rapp and Lin Manuel Miranda are here!”

I was like HoLy SHIt  

Then a minute for so later I look behind us and there he is

Two rows behind me

Anthony fucking Rapp

Mark Cohen was there

So i’m like freaking the fuck out

I got into like panic mode

But Donny has a really intense PTSD attack

Like the boy completely collapses and is shaking so badly

Yet again a great example as to why Corey Cott is such a good actor

So Julia runs over to him

But everyone freezes and Donny starts singing Right this way

Slowly everyone starts moving again

It’s a really tense moment

So all the boys and Julia get together and decide to book as many gigs as they can because god damnit they are going to New York

The costumes are so nice
