Argentina Week in Philadelphia
Argentina Week in Philadelphia
October 10 – 28, 2016 2nd Floor, NE corner, Outside Mayor’s Office
The Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy in collaboration with the Office of Immigrant Affairs and Argentinos En Philadelphia proudly present a showcase of works by artists from Latin America. The presentation is part of this year’s celebration of Argentina Week, which runs from October 16 – 22nd. This year, the art was selected by curator Paula Meninato, who was inspired by her own immigrant experiences.
The process of adjusting to a new country grants individuals the opportunity to view both cultures in a completely unique way and re-examine their own values. This experience served as the main inspiration for curating this exhibition. I am interested in starting a conversation between artists from Argentine and Latino backgrounds on the concept of identity. I encouraged artists to interpret the theme in open, innovative, and creative manners. The end result is an exhibition which is united not by one subject, but in the uniqueness of each artist viewing the world with fresh eyes.

About Argentinos En Philadelphia Argentinos En Philadelphia is an organization of more than 2,500 members with interests that run from fine art and businesses through most bucolic daily activities. Although most members live in the five-county area, some are here temporarily, others are visiting; and there are those who are living in other states or countries. The aforementioned characteristics of this group afford us the convenience of a global platform that has allowed us exponential growth and the creation of a myriad of events and functions in just a few short years.
Argentinos en Philadelphia, a local group of global reach, is endorsed by the Argentine Embassy. Our voices are heard via public media, as we offer support and serve our local community
