[ad_1] GG News Bureau Jabalpur, 28th Oct. An FIR has been lodged against Narendra Singh Tomar, the director of Hal Agri Farmer Producer Company Limited, for fraudulently profiting at the expense of farmers. This action follows directives from Collector Deepak Saxena after an investigation revealed that the company failed to return 3,162 quintals of substandard chickpeas, valued at ₹1,68,69,270, acquired at the minimum support price during the Rabi marketing year 2023-24. The case came to light after several farmers filed complaints regarding non-payment for their chickpeas. In response, Collector Saxena formed a five-member investigation team led by Assistant Director of Agriculture Ravi Amravanshi. The team included District Marketing Officer Hirendra Singh, District Manager of the Warehousing Corporation S.R. Nimoda, Junior Supply Officer Kundan Singh Rajput, and Junior Supply Officer Ms. Abha Sharma. The investigation revealed that despite receiving 3,162 quintals of chickpeas from 110 farmers at the minimum support price, Hal Agri Farmer Producer Company did not return the substandard produce. Priyanka Pathariya, the then-manager of the Madhya Pradesh Warehousing Corporation’s Bhedaghat branch, had instructed the company to return the non-FPO chickpeas, which had been stored at Mayank Warehouse No. 3 in village Badaiyakhera, Charghawan. On the first day of the investigation, when summoned, director Narendra Singh Tomar did not attend but instead sent a representative, Dushyant Tripathi. Tomar finally appeared on October 25, but he failed to present any purchase or return registers related to the chickpeas. Instead, he provided the investigation team with 43 printed receipts for chickpea returns, which were handwritten with the names, villages, and quantities of the chickpeas acquired, but did not include farmers’ mobile numbers. The team deemed these receipts suspicious and unreliable. Upon physical verification of Mayank Warehouse No. 3, the investigation team found no chickpeas stored there, despite the claims. The investigation revealed that Hal Agri Farmer Producer Company was guilty of misappropriating the chickpeas worth ₹1,68,69,270, failing to return them to the farmers, and committing fraud for unjust enrichment. As a result, an FIR was registered late on Friday night at Charghawan police station against the director of Hal Agri Farmer Producer Company Limited. The FIR was filed by Assistant Director of Agriculture Ravi Amravanshi on behalf of the investigation team. Back From Gurugram, MLAs Deny Any BJP Plot
The MLAs have denied Congress claims that the BJP offered them money.Four of the six MLAs of the ruling dispensation in Madhya Pradesh who returned from Delhi on Wednesday, have denied Congress claims that the BJP offered them money or held them hostage at a hotel in Gurugram. All four, however, made it clear that there was no threat to the state's Kamal Nath government.Six MLAs, three from the Congress- Kamlesh Jatav, Ranveer Jatav and Aidal Singh Kansana - BSP MLAs Sanjiv Kushwah and Rambai Thakur and one SP MLA Rajesh Shukla returned to Bhopal on Wednesday. Ministers Jeetu Patwari and Tarun Bhanot, who accompanied them, claimed they had been forcibly taken to Gurugram by the BJP with the plan to destabilise the Congress-led government.Three of the Congress MLAs and an independent MLA -- who were allegedly flown by Bengaluru by BJP leaders -- are yet to return. A fourth sent his resignation from the assembly to the Speaker today.Former minister and Congress MLA Aidal Singh Kansana, a Digvijaya Singh loyalist, denied claims of bribery or coercion. Three others -- Sanjiv Kushwah and Rambai Thakur of Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party and Rajesh Shukla of the Samajwadi Party agreed. The BSP legislator from Bhind, Sanjiv Kushwah, said the Congress leaders were making "hollow claims just to score brownie points from their party high command". "I am warning them -- don't fire a gun from someone else's shoulder," he said, demanding that the Congress leaders provide evidence on their claims.Samajwadi Party MLA Rajesh Shukla, said "I am 6 feet tall, from a well-to-do family... No one has the power to hold us hostage or even rescue us. We'll go wherever we want to. No one can force or rescue us".The suspended BSP MLA from Pathariya seat Rambai Thakur said claims that former home minister and BJP leader Bhupendra Singh "had taken me to Delhi in a chartered plane, are lying"."I was going to Delhi-Gurugram to meet my daughter and Bhupendra Singh was boarding the same plane. Should I have de-boarded since he was there? All of us are firmly with Kamal Nath government," Rambai Thakur added.BJP leader and former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, whom sources had named in the alleged BJP plot, has also denied his party's role in the matter, saying it was an "internal matter of the Congress". New Post has been published on http://www.visionmp.com/a-total-of-10-farmers-resorted-to-extreme-step-in-sehore-since-agitation/
Another farmer commits suicide in chief minister's home district Sehore
Sehore: Apparently distressed over debts, one more farmer allegedly killed himself on Tuesday in Madhya Pradesh, which saw an agitation by cultivators last month.
The latest incident took place in Sehore, the home district of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. In this district alone, the number of farmers’ suicides has gone up to ten (since the agitation).
“The body of Suraj Singh Gurjar was found hanging from the branch of a tree in his agricultural field in Pathariya village (of Sehore district) this morning,” Ahmedpur police station in-charge BD Singh said.
A case was registered and a probe was launched, the officer said adding that the exact reason behind his extreme step would be known after the inquiry.
However, Jaswant Singh, brother of the deceased,
claimed that Gurjar was under a lot of stress due to debts. “Our family jointly owned 45 acres of land, but poor agricultural produce and inability to repay the loan of Rs 10 lakh forced him to take the extreme step,” Jaswant said.
Since June 8, farmers’ suicides were reported from Sehore, Hoshangabad, Raisen, Dhar, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Sagar, Chhatarpur, Narsinghpur, Sehore, Tikamgarh and Vidisha districts.
In the first fortnight of June, western Madhya Pradesh witnessed a major farmers’ agitation over loan waiver and remunerative prices, which was fuelled further by the death of five persons in police firing in Mandsaur district on June 6.
The Congress had on Monday claimed that over 50 farmer suicides had taken place within a month.
