Breaking: Serious Protest Going On Now in COZA Church Over Rape.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Aggrieved women and youths made good their threats and stormed the headquarters of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), in Abuja and Lagos State, yesterday, to demand action against the Senior Pastor of the church, Biodun Fatoyinbo.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
The protesters demanded pastor Fatoyinbo step down from running the church until criminal investigation is concluded into an alleged rape case.
Busola Dakolo, wife of popular Nigerian musician, Timi Dakolo, at the weekend, accused pastor Fatoyinbo of raping her when she was a teenager, in her family house in Ilorin, Kwara State, almost 20 years ago.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Women, men and youths arrived the church’s Abuja premises, as early as 8:00am, dressed in white shirt, with sealed mouths armed with banners and placards with different messages which condemned rape and violence against females.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
The peaceful protest caused panic among the worshippers and created pandemonium in the neighborhood.
Commuters in Guzape were forced to use alternative routes to their destination. After several efforts, the protesters could not gain entry into the church premises because church security officials formed strong barricade, with the aid of policemen and other security officials.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
They successfully restricted the aggrieved women few metres away from the church compound.
They also used vehicles to block the road, as part of crowd control measures. The protest was peaceful until church workers began to exchange words with the protesters; which led to fisticuffs.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
The matter worsened when church officials allegedly hired people, who were mostly Muslim youths and northerners, from neighbouring communities, to attack the women.
They were quickly armed with placards bearing different inscriptions, which countered the allegations and messages contained in the placards of the women protesters.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Surprisingly, some of the counter-protesters admitted they were promised financial rewards to disrupt the protest; through a counter protest. While many of them held their placards upside down, others confessed not knowing the reason for the counter-action.
Leader of the women protesters, Bukky Shonibare, in a statement, vowed they would not relent until justice is served.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
She demanded that COZA board and leadership investigate the rape allegation against the pastor and while the action is going on, he must be asked to step down from any leadership role in the church.
She also requested the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) carry out independent investigations on the matter and take necessary actions.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Shonibare promised that the women would sustain the momentum, to ensure that rape and other forms of sexual violence against women are minimised in church and elsewhere.
Meanwhile, the Pastor, who spoke during an abridged Sunday service sermon, which was jointly delivered with his wife, Pastor Modele Fatoyinbo, at the church headquarters in Abuja, told the congregation that elders of the church have commenced investigation and assured them that their verdict would reflect truth and justice to all.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Thereafter, he announced cancellation of the annual programme of the church, “Seven Days of Glory.”
It was gathered that invited foreign ministers of the Gospel had withdrawn from the event.
The service ended one hour earlier than usual, with many vacant seats at the church’s branch in Ikeja, Lagos.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
He said: “Having you in my life, I am the most blessed pastor in the world. It took me a long time to get here today. I did not like what I saw today (yesterday). Some, if you came early, this is not what I want to put you through. I will only say something to you, if I was not a pastor of this church, I will be a member.
“I have been relating with all my mentors, you know I am a man under authority, I really love to listen to them.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
“So, I am going to be giving a few instructions as time goes on but, the first instruction I want to give is, be that as it may with what is going on, I am not a desperate person to say we must have the programme.
COZA fasts for 7 days
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Thereafter, Fatoyinbo announced that, rather than the programme, it would be seven days of fasting. His speech was greeted with chants of ‘We love you pastor’ from worshippers.
“As we start our fasting, even though we are not doing the seven days of glory (programme) as we usually do, those of you who are led to come and pray here, as you come, the Lord will lift you up.”

Pastor @Ffadejumo and Bishop @felixadejumo mummy and daddy, I ask you to please sway this matter in the right direction. I plead with you. We will all answer to our heavenly father. You were the ones that told Pastor @biodunfatoyinbo not to release the robust report he said he was going to send out, Years back when the Ese Walters story came out. Now there are too many accounts of several rape, and underaged sex allegations against pastor Biodun. It is too much drama for someone in a position as his. All we ask is that he steps down for now and separate himself from the church. Till everything is clear. Why? THE CHURCH IS THE CUSTODIAN OF MORALITY! He obviously holds you in high esteem and listens to what you say. Please, tell him to let an assistant pastor step up. Myself and a lot of COZA members and even workers who have now joined the movement are asking this simple thing. Why are we taking this position? We are too much of a church saturated country to have the amount of rot we are dealing with in this nation. The rot in this country is too much! The educational system is rotten, infrastructure is rotten, Nigeria's image is rotten, government is rotten, health sector is rotten, power and electricity rotten... Most of our political leaders are in the church. It therefore means that there is rot in the church. If we want to clean the country then we must start from the church. Our generation is tired of having nothing. So we must start from somewhere. The older generations have failed us for too long. Rape culture is too much. Only 18 men since 1960 have been convicted of rape in Nigeria even though 1 out of 3 women have been raped. If we as the church cannot act honourably, then what are we here for? Nigeria is failing, it means the church is failing. IF NIGERIA FAILS IT MEANS THE CHURCH HAS Failed! Nigeria is failing, it means the church is failing. The last thing we want is for the government to start regulating the activities of the church organisation as a whole, so the the church has to regulate itself now. Not cover everytime. It's not working. Our generation is turning away from church and its not right. I'm begging. @akahnnani https://www.instagram.com/p/BzVot1pg7lL/?igshid=q32496oqkxbo

10 Points On Busola and Pastor Biodun
"There is no smoke without fire."
"When everybody has a problem with Bob, then Bob has a problem."
"When more is expected of you, expect more to be expected of you."
This scandal is not one that can be glossed over or swept under the rug. It has taken on a life of its own, and something that should have been cut off at the head a few years ago has become a hydra that threatens the very success of the ministry that has blessed countless thousands of lives. Here are my thoughts.
1. No minister of the Gospel is infallible and above sin. No single minister. I don't demand sinlessness from a man of God. What I do demand is repentance. All the attempts at exoneration are unfortunate and reveal that there is no genuine repentance in PB and cohorts's hearts.
2. As a citizen of Nigeria, I abhor sexual assault and intimidation. The truth must be searched out, and whoever is guilty of wrongdoing be made to pay the punishment prescribed by the law of the land.
3. I feel for those who are victims, because their guard was down, because they were still growing spiritually, Ese Walter, Busola Dakolo, and others who remain unnamed for now. I sincerely hope that all of this did not actually happen, but sadly, it does not appear so from where I see things. As a husband, father, son, and only brother, I feel the pain behind these accusations. I wish I could see a scenario where they're trumped up, but sadly I can't. But I will wait for the truth to be uncovered more and more. One thing I won't do is close my eyes to facts, and be emotional about my pastor.
4. Against popular opinion, it is actually detrimental to PB's spiritual health to blindly support him and discredit those who have come forward to accuse him. I believe that God sometimes orchestrates things to happen in ways we cannot control to free us from sins we struggle to overcome. I think God started this with Ese Walter, when PB's profile was not as bright as it is now, and the collateral damage would have been less. By collateral damage, I'm referring to those whose faith was adversely affected. Don't support PB just cos he's your pastor. He's a man in need of God's help, and the more we support him, the less he sees the need for genuine repentance, and the more power this habit has over him.
5. I feel very strongly for Mummy Dee and the kids. They are on social media, and hearing all these reports must be heartbreaking for them, especially the kids. They are at an age now when they can understand these accusations. It will be traumatising for them to relate freely with their dad, knowing these things hang over his head. We must pray for them.
6. If these charges are true, this is not the first time a pastor has experienced moral failure. Remember Jimmy Swaggart, Ted Haggard, Albert Odulele, Eddie Long, etc. The worst response from PB, if he knows he's culpable in any way, is to attempt to exonerate himself. This is a time for him to weigh in a balance his reputation versus his salvation. He must not attempt to cover up the story, victimize the accusers or their supporters, or deny. If he's innocent, the truth will come out. But if he's not, then, Sir, you're serving eternity better by owning up and just like Eli, receiving from the Lord whatever the Lord chooses to do.
7. I am not deceived by the raging storms. I know the devil is behind this habit, and the goal is to take down as many believers as possible by keeping this habit nurtured and fed until PB becomes so well known and regarded that a scandal of this sort and scope would damage the faiths of many precious souls. And so I pray. I pray Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, and I pray for Busola Dakolo. I pray for Coza members, and for Christians all over the world. I pray for sexual assault victims, and for their loved ones. I pray for enablers and for detractors. I pray for the Body of Christ, I pray for the CAN and the PFN. I pray that God's will will shine through this turbulent situation, and that His name will remain glorious. I pray for healing for the hurt, and for forgiveness for the sinful. I pray for grace to forgive and let go, and I pray for grace to say I'm sorry. Brethren, we must pray.
8. I don't believe in shooting wounded soldiers on the battlefield. If these allegations are true, then PB is a wounded soldier, and we must not shoot him fatally. We should hold him accountable, but we must also seek to restore him in the spirit of meekness. We must be willing to embrace him as a child of God who has displayed his fleshiness. This is a call to prayer for this man of God, and for men of God who are in similar situations. Beyond seeking any legal redress, we must open our spiritual arms to embrace the fallen. I am more interested in spiritual restoration than in civil accountability, as important as the latter is. Let us be compassionate to PB, even as it goes against our human nature to be so. Let us also remember and pray for God's mercy for the enablers, the lawyers, the DSS heads, the wealthy patrons, etc. who are equally guilty before God of whatever sins they have helped cover up.
9. Dear Coza member and dear believer, this is a time to love your pastor more than you love his reputation. This is a time to love him despite any failings. I still believe in the ministry and calling of Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo. I realise that gifts work irrespective of the vessel, because they are powered by the Spirit. Don't let the gifts of any minister deceive or confuse you. They will continue to work, and therein the deception of their vessel lies. The Holy Spirit announces His arrival, but never His departure. We must pray for PB, like never before, that his salvation is not lost. We must pray that his gifts do not blind him to his weaknesses. If you love him, and I know you do, then don't support him blindly. Allow him to be human, forgive him for being human, and then pray for him to not lose his spirituality.
10. Finally, I join the voices all over to ask that #PastorBiodun humbly steps down from his position as senior pastor of #Coza. Don't for a minute assume that Coza will fold up. No, maybe this is the start of a revival in the church, a time for the glorious truths of the Gospel to become popular, as opposed to the soulish focus on outward excellence. It is difficult to see properly when crying, and Sir, you cannot really address the things the Holy Spirit wants you to address while you're still focused on your work as a pastor. This is a time for you to go and rejuvenate your spirit before Him who has called you. Submit yourself to a minister who the Lord (and only the Lord) leads you to, and forget about the noise. You've been at this ministry thing for decades, maybe God needs you alone and quiet, stripped of all the grandeur, and vulnerable only to HIm. Please, #PastorStepDown now, and let God do His work in you.
The Church of God will keep marching on, and the gates of hell will not prevail. Heads or tails, we win IJN.

Biodun & Busola Never Dated: COZA Reacts To Rape Scandal, Blames Jealous Pastors
Rape allegation: Jealous pastors responsible for Fatoyinbo’s ordeal ― COZA alleges •Says church don’t support rape
The Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) has alleged that some pastors who felt that the founder of COZA, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo was outshining them in the Ministry were responsible for the rape allegation levelled on him by Busola Dakolo.
Pastor Fatoyinbo has been under attack by some Nigerians when the wife of Timi Dakolo, Busola Dakolo alleged that he (Fatoyinbo) raped her when she was 16 years.
After the allegation, many Nigerians took to the street, demanding for Pastor Fatoyinbo to step down from the pulpit.
Before the matter was taken to court, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), had set up a panel to investigate the allegations of Busola Dakolo against the senior Pastor of COZA.
Meanwhile, COZA in a statement said in the past and present, some pastors had been working hard to tarnish the image of their founder.
The statement which was signed by the Executive Senior Assistant to the Senior Pastor of COZA, Ademola Adetuberu noted that the church does not support rape, and also stands by anyone who has been a victim of rape.
The statement reads: “We see this ugly development fuelled by envy and sheer jealousy as an unnecessary distraction and a fight from the pit of hell against the ministry that God gave Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo, as well as a declaration of war against the Church of Christ to which COZA is a flourishing branch under God’s grace.
“We are not unaware that certain pastors that felt threatened by the unprecedented growth of COZA and the grace of God upon His Servant are after some of our members, just making every effort to cash in on the attack against God’s servant. There was nothing they had not done behind the scene until this rape scandal.
“They are accusing our Pastor of snatching their members. Some are even asking why he couldn’t remain in Ilorin. Our focus is the Kingdom of God and winning souls for Christ. COZA is home to those who have sold out to Jesus. At COZA, we believe that every sent servant of God has his or her harvest field given to him or her by God and not by poaching souls or believers of another ministry.
“The enemies of the Church have been going about fabricating stories against our Pastor having realized that the Busola story cannot be proved in the court of law. They are begging people to come out to make frivolous claims against the anointed Servant of God. Not only that, some highly respected Pastors who identify with our Pastor are being abused and insulted for standing by the truth while some agreed with them on the need to demonise and destroy our Pastor. But we have a message for them, COZA is marching on and the gate of hell shall not prevail against it. Jesus Christ whom we are serving will vindicate our Pastor and the adversaries will be silenced forever in Jesus Name
“We, therefore, urge those sponsoring these evils to desist however if they do not, the God of vengeance will visit them. They should let Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo continue freely with the divine mandate that our Lord Jesus Christ gave him. It is ungodly and sinful to be used by satan against the anointed”.
The church while saying that Busola Dakolo would soon be served with justice, said their Senior Pastor never had anything personal to do with her (Busola Dakolo) or even dated her.
“We stand with anyone who has been a victim of rape. We stand by our Founding and Senior Pastor, Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo, who has been at the receiving end of organized blackmail and all sorts of attacks because of his innocence and we are sure that our faithful and unfailing God will vindicate him very soon.
“As for Busola Dakolo, justice will soon be served. We would like to, again, for the record reiterate that our Senior Pastor, Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo has never had anything personal to do with her. Busola was not raped by Rev. Biodun Fatoyinbo and she had never been in a relationship with him either”, the statement noted.

COZA: Comedian, Alibaba Slams Pastors for keeping silent over Rape Allegations
Veteran comedian and social commentator, Alibaba has called out prominent pastors for keeping mute over the rape allegations levied agaisnst Biodun Fatoyinbo, pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA). Upshot reports that Fatoyinbo, who has stepped down, was accused by Busola Dakolo of raping her as a teenager causing wild outrage on and off social media. Despite the various comments on the issue, pastors of prominent Nigerian churches are yet to speak. Alibaba noted that the case would have been different if it was about members of the church and not a fellow pastor. He wrote @alibabacfr on Instagram, “When it comes to preaching against what members of the congregations are doing wrong, its in Vol 1, 2 and 3. “Fornication, smoking, indecent dressing, drinking, night clubbing, polygamy, divorce, robbery, domestic violence, terrorism, being stingy, racism, corruption, greed, homosexuality, adultery, mixing with bad gang. “But touch, not the Lord’s anointed and do my profits no harm,” Alibaba said.
