Kurt Preston Brecht is an American vocalist and author, best known for his work as vocalist of crossover thrash band D.R.I. (Dirty Rotten Imbeciles). He is also in a thrash band called Pasadena Napalm Division (P.N.D.)

Juntos, os veteranos precursores do crossover thrash gravaram um álbum absurdamente lindo. Ao comprá-lo, precisa vir um copo de cerveja e uma briga de bar.

Quando o Dead Horse acabou, alguns dos integrantes pensaram em retornar à ativa. Só que com um novo projeto, claro. Eles ficaram sabendo que Kurt Brecht estava em Houston, o chamaram e, bom, em 2013, o Pasadena Napalm Division lançou seu primeiro álbum de estúdio pela Minus Head Records, uma gravadora independente da Califórnia.

Grande parte do material já estava escrito quando Brecht juntou-se com seu microfone, porém, a banda soa muito mais como D.R.I. que Dead Horse. Dirty Rotten Imbeciles, formada em 1982 e ainda na ativa, é uma das precursoras do gênero crossover thrash.

Para esses veteranos, mesclar thrash metal com punk é, estereotipando, como beber cerveja o dia inteiro numa taverna no deserto. E o que eu achei legal em PND são as letras engraçadas. Não tem como não dar risada com ‘Murder the bearded Lady Killer’.

Falar o que do diálogo entre personagem e policial em ‘All of a sudden dead’? “Bom, eu tenho mais uma pergunta para você, garoto: você teve relações sexuais com a garota doente?”, pergunta o guarda. “Antes ou depois do incidente?”, responde. Ou que tal a ideia genial de cantar letra por letra em ‘Spell it out’? Além de engraçado, complica para juntar as palavras pelo fato dele cantar rápido demais.

Pela capa do álbum, é possível julgar a faixa 1, ‘100 beers with a zombie’, como um ode aos mortos-vivos. Contudo, não: um dos guitarristas da banda chapou o coco na casa do roadie, Zombie Ray, e ficou com uma puta ressaca. Habemus nome da música, pois.

Dá para achar um pouquinho de Black Sabbath, Anthrax, High on Fire e Megadeth em Pasadena Napalm Division. Impossível ouvir uma vez só.

PASADENA NAPALM DIVISION: '100 Beers With A Zombie' Video Released

"100 Beers With A Zombie", the new video from PASADENA NAPALM DIVISION, the Houston, Texas-based thrash metal outfit that features D.R.I. singer Kurt Brecht and members of DEAD HORSE, can be seen at this location. The song comes off PASADENA NAPALM DIVISION's self-titled debut, which was released on April 9 via Minus Head Records. The 13-song CD was recorded at the Music Lab in Austin and features guest vocals from Tony Foresta (MUNICIPAL WASTE) and Argo (DEAD HORSE).

"Fans of D.R.I. and DEAD HORSE will rejoice. PASADENA NAPALM DIVISION is what thrash metal should sound like in 2013," said Brecht.

"Working together with some of the members of Texas based cult band DEAD HORSE, we have come up with some hard-hitting tunes that span genres and will withstand the test of time."

Brecht asked Foresta in 2011 if he would consider helping out on the PASADENA NAPALM DIVISION CD. There was also talk of Brecht making a guest appearance on an upcoming release from Tony's side project IRON REAGAN.

"I had one tune on the album that I was really having problems with," said Brecht. "I was not happy with my lyrics or the delivery on the studio recording. I knew the song deserved better. Tony wrote new words and changed the phrasing to really save the day."

Fun fact: I know absolutely NOTHING about Pasadena Napalm Division. Not a thing.... ok thats a lie, but I know very little. From what I can gather, Pasadena Napalm Division is a band fronted by D.R.I. frontman Kurt Brecht, and they play an extremely aggressive brand of crossover thrash, perfectly displayed in this lyric video for "Murder The Bearded Lady Killer", which coincidentally features yet another epic metal vocalist, Tony Foresta from Municipal Waste. Its pretty fucking rad to say the least, and though I don't know much about this little group, I plan to find out much more.

So yeah, Pasadena Napalm Division apparently have a self-titled album that also got released recently, so go pick it up. If its anything like this track, I'm pretty sure its fucking killer. \m/
