People are acting like Palpatine was a good choice for Rise of Skywalker and I can’t folks. I just can not comprehend how someone watched that movie and thought, “Yeah, this was the way to do it”

Kylo Ren should have been the villain, him pursuing Rey like a Deep South ex husband with a restraining order while Hux ran the first order would have been fine, hell it could have been good even.

Instead we get Palpatine turning into a bug zapper

TBB Rewatch Day 19: S3E3 “Shadows of Tantiss” and S3E4 “A Different Approach”

Man, I would’ve died of laughter if Omega and Crosshair made off with Papa Palps’ shuttle. Like, imagine Palpatine wondering where his ride is, reaches out through the Force, and realizes that two clones took it and it was the clones that broke out ����😂

And I love Cross’ dynamic with Omega. He’s been through so much but you know he deeply appreciates having her by his side

Project necromancy and the ending

(please no spoilers, I'm crazily behind on the show, so anything past episode 8 is a spoiler for me)

With the precursor of me absolutely hating episode 9 and finding it frustrating that the main villain and story of this show seems to be retroactively making its utter nonsense plot make sense...

I really like the idea that the bad batch, while far from the central "Star Wars" plotline and the timeline of the sequels play an integral role in the saving of the entire galaxy (and I guess universe now that Ahsoka opened up the idea of other galaxies) from papa palps

If the show ends with them in some way sabotaging project necromancy, perhaps destroying the perfect youthful palp clones, or erasing the technology and cartoon-friendly-killing hemlock, that could directly tie into how dysfunctional and weak palpatines ultimate resurrected form is, being all snokey and requiring a robotic arm to move around.

Granted, this doesn't really work since, due to the aforementioned episode nine nonsense, Palpatine does suddenly become godly powerful and shoots lighting through the universe or something (idk, I haven't watched it since cinemas).

But even so, by sabotaging hemlocks work in some way (as they probably will) the bad batch could very well be instrumental to the ultimate saving of the universe, with their impacts skipping a trilogy and stretching all the way until the final battle

Which in a way, I kind of absolutely love!! Star wars has always been a story about distant connections and the impacts of one life on another. Smaller side stories (like bb) are wonderful in their little impacts to the larger universe, which ultimately adds up to the final plot

This will likely require a bitter sweet ending, where the squad loses the battle but wins the war... Some fifty odd years later. Even so, a small victory is a victory. It's how the good have always won in starwars, with small acts of courage and kindness, even in the face of impossible odds.

possible Hot Take: Bail Organna should have been the one to give Palpatine emergency powers. Put him in Palpatine's camp fr the start of the war, he's a firm believer in Palpatine. Then later you can have him realize he's made a mistake and he breaks away from Papa Palps.

That could have been interesting! I dunno if it would make much sense for Bail's character, he was already with Padme in the camp of, "No we shouldn't vote to create an army, they'll see that as provocation and attack." in AOTC, but it maybe could be something to explore in an AU.

Bail always struck me as someone who saw through Palpatine in a lot of ways, like, "I know you're Supreme Chancellor and you're very effective but boy do I get bad vibes off you."

Tales of the Empire Thoughts

Overall, I enjoyed the shorts. They were neat little stories that showed us more about some of the characters we know little about. I love the some slice of life content out of them. (Still waiting for my Tales of the Clones: The Domestic Batch content lol).

The best thing about them is the animation imo. Between these shorts and TBB, Star Wars animation has never looked more realistic, stunning, or detail-oriented. I love the little things like beads of sweat or smoke from fire/blasters.

Morgan Elsbeth gave me Maul vibes lol. I enjoyed seeing more about Dathomir and how Yoda's speech about fear and anger can lead one down the wrong path. Plus, seeing how dark animated SW can be gives me chills. Morgan's shorts don't hold back on the ruthlessness of following a dark path. Her path was one of death and violence. (And seeing Thrawn was simply fantastic. He was perfect and I love him (even when he's recruiting for the Empire). And they made Grievous intimidating. Where was this Grievous in CW?! Answer me Dave!

I really enjoyed the Barriss shorts ngl. I wish we had more time to get in her head, but overall they were great. The Grand Inquisitor was really entertaining (I loved how he quoted Papa Palps verbatim). One of my favorite villains. The Fourth Sister (aka Lyn) was also pretty interesting. Like Morgan, you can see how darkness and corrupt people can twist others. I did love the conclusion between Lyn and Barriss. It wasn't what I was expecting, but I liked it.

One last thing: ice moons/planets serving as places for a redemption arc are now an official SW trope. It is because I said so and SW seems to have a habit putting it in all their shows now. (Thanks Kallus for kickstarting it).

I woke up early today and daydreamed of Plo taking not just the precious pups to Dorin, but also lugged the some of the croissants (corrie-boys) because Papa Palps want some politically motivated happening to get a non-Jedi Kel Dor with some super sick future vision foolishness for *reasons*, but that’s not our focus.

So Kel Dors have high appreciation for life and that includes elevating children in the priority list and ensuring they are safe and raised right with proper discernment of good and evil cause shits wacked with Dorin law.

ANYHOW.

Plo handing sharpies to little Dor’shan kids so they all write their thanks and whatever tf they want on the clones’ armor while he walks behind them, sat still so the kids can draw and write.

Plo placing his hand on Wolffe’s head, making him turn to look and pick up a child instead of worrying if Plo needed anything.

Meanwhile you have Warthog, cause ya know — he my king, egging a child to draw a mustache on Wolffe. Plo overlooking Warthog and the child from behind and suggesting to make the mustache thicker.

Dark Devotion poll time!

How would Papa Palps approach family planning? Because I feel like it could go multiple ways. It's like 15 years between this point and Revenge of the Sith.

Option 1: large family (5-10 kids)

Sheev's a maniac and he might just leave it up to the Force ("I'm just f*cking, it's up to the Force what happens next 🤷‍♀️."). He'd enjoy having many children with little Force sensitivity, which he would take as a sign that the Force can't handle him having powerful offspring, bc he himself is so powerful already. At the same time, he would have all these little minions to influence. Pride + control over Y/N.

Option 2: 2 - 5 kids

He could time it so every time Y/N gets a bit more freedom through kiddos going to school, she's tied down again. Either he talks her into it or the birth control "mysteriously" fails.

Option 3: one and done

Even though Y/N would gradually gain more time and freedom, he wouldn't go for another one, not even if Y/N really wants it. It would be harder for him to control Y/N. Also, no siblings for Raanth & more years to skip.
