1. PM Modi chaired a high-level meeting today with leaders of various political parties of Jammu and Kashmir. Detailed discussions were done on strengthening democracy in Jammu & Kashmir.

2. The former Rajya Sabha MP Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the Congress has placed five demands before the Centre. Azad, who was aided by his Congress companions Ghulam Ahmed Mir and Tara Chand, said that the meeting took place in a conducive environment and that there was no hostility. Azad also revealed that there were no restrictions in the meeting & representatives were allowed to bring up any issue speak freely without any time constraint.

3. Ghulam Nabi Azad said that

(a) Restoration of statehood is first & foremost.

(b) Conduct elections to the legislative assembly as the environment is now conducive, considering the ceasefire at LoC and the smooth conduct of DDC polls.

(c) The third demand, he said, was to restore domicile laws held by citizens of JK.

(d) Fourth is that the Centre should assist the return of Kashmiri Pandits to the valley, who have been in exile for over 30 years now.

(e) The fifth Congress demand is that political prisoners detained in the aftermath of abrogation of Article 370 should be released.

4. PM Modi said he wanted to end 'Dilli ki duri' as well as 'Dil ki duri' with J&K which has been witnessing prolonged spell of militancy and unrest.

5. Karnataka High Court granted interim relief to Twitter India's Managing Director Manish Maheshwari, directed Ghaziabad Police not to take any coercive steps against him till June 29. Twitter India's Head Manish Maheshwari, who was summoned by the Ghaziabad Police in connection with a probe related to the assault of an elderly Muslim man there recently, did not appear before them as the Karnataka high court restrained police from initiating coercive action against him.

The Ghaziabad Police on June 15 booked, Twitter Communications India, news website The Wire, journalists Mohammed Zubair and Rana Ayyub, besides Congress leaders Salman Nizami, Maskoor Usmani, Shama Mohamed and writer Saba Naqvi. They were booked over the circulation of a fake video in which the elderly man, Abdul Shamad Saifi, claims he was allegedly thrashed by some young men who also asked him to chant 'Jai Shri Ram' on June 5. The police said the video was shared to cause communal unrest and to create disturbance.

The Govt of India, Govt of Mizoram & the World Bank have signed a USD 32 million Mizoram Health Systems Strengthening Project to improve management capacity and quality of health services in Mizoram. The project will strengthen the governance & the management structure of the Department of Health + Family Welfare and its subsidiaries.

Pratham Pooja of Shri Amarnathji Shrine was performed on 24 June by Shri Nitishwar Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, he said that since the Yatra this year has been cancelled due to the current COVID-19 pandemic situation, the Shrine Board however is committed to carry out all religious rituals as per past practice.

Indian Cricket Team in this year has gone through a lot of round a bouts this year. Not just ODI, T-20 & Test Series but even the prestigious 50 over 4 yearly World Cup 2019 played at England showed such vagaries in the results.

The million dollar question that needs to asked- Is India still remaining strong as a cricket super power? The answer can be easily said yes considering the number of bilateral series won by team India.In Australia tour India created a  history of winning the test series in their own home soil for the 1st time by 3-0 followed by winning ODI series & T-20 series both by 2-1 in 3 match series.The Australian Team also toured India to taste the same sweetness of thrashing as the visitors lost 3-2 in our home series.  

Last but not least there was a sandwiched tour of New Zealand for team India in between two bilateral series vs. Australia at home & abroad.  A record had been set by team India as they beat New Zealand in their own soil in ODI series by 4-1 & T-20 series by 2-1.This was the last foreign soil tour for Team India before 2019 World Cup.

If the aforesaid Indian Cricket Squad is considered there has been very late entry of the junior most stumper, the 21 year old Rishab Pant.  

Unlike previous two World Cups 2011 (where India won its 2nd World Cup Title) & 2015 (where India emerged Semi-finalists) led by former captain & senior wicket-keeper  of team India MS Dhoni where there were not more than 1 match , the 2019 World Cup under Virat Kohli’s leadership witnessed two big losses in the mega tournament- a league match lost to the cricket pioneers  and current World Champions England by 32 runs and semi final match lost by 14 runs to runners up New Zealand. Under the circumstances- is it fair for the media and cricket fans to only criticise and write off completely the great Indian wins against the other 7 seven foreign teams? If we consider the winning glories of Indian Cricket in the other league matches of the World Cup- why not perceive it as en route to being the fourth time semi finalist in the World Cup.If team India looks at winning margins- it started with 4 wickets win over South Africa followed by 29 runs win against the other semi finalist Australia, 86 runs win vs. Pakistan, 6 wickets win vs. Sri Lanka, 35 runs win vs. Bangladesh, 12 runs win vs Afghanistan & biggest win margin vs. West Indies by 120 runs.   Rohit Sharma’s impressive record of scoring 5 centuries almost made him come close to former cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar’s record scoring the highest number of World Cup runs for India (636 runs in 2003 World Cup) and Jasprit Bumrah’s 17 wickets haul in the tournament fetched him the 1st rank bowler in ICC ODI rankings.Virat Kohli although remained century less in this year’s World Cup, he banged 5 big half centuries as captains knock where as senior seam bowler Shami Ahmed bagged 4 wickets (including a hattrick) vs Afghanistan in the face saving match & 5 wickets vs England which sadly went in vain. Statistically speaking, India deserves a 7 out of 10 ranking while assessing 2019 World Cup Performance.

PTCL is back with yet another mark in the year 2017, thus closing the year strong and loud. For the love of sports and revival of cricket in Pakistan, PTCL sponsored Pakistan team jersey for the T20I series that is to be played in New Zealand next month – January 2018.

The announcement came about at the kit unveiling ceremony held at the Gaddafi Stadium (Far End Pavilion) in Lahore.

Adnan Shahid, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), PTCL, Chairman PCB Najam Aziz Sethi and Pakistan Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed jointly unveiled the cricket team kit. Other individuals present at the ceremony were Syed Shahzad Shah, EVP Marketing, PTCL, senior PCB officials’ and Pakistan T-20I Team Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Speaking on the occasion, Adnan Shahid, CCO, PTCL said,

Cricket and PTCL, both connect the country and unite the nation. We are excited to co-sponsor T20 team kit of Pakistan cricket team, which is also World Number 1 team in ICC T20I Rankings. Like all Pakistanis, we wish the team all the best and hope it will continue the winning streak and win the tough New Zealand series comprehensively. PTCL will continue supporting PCB and Pakistan cricket in future as well.

Chairman PCB Najam Sethi speaking on the occasion, said,

PCB, as the governing body of cricket in Pakistan, is involved in all aspects of the game and in promoting the interests of Pakistan cricket both in the country and abroad.” He added that “PCB was grateful to PTCL for co-sponsoring the T-20 series to be played against New Zealand. The tour will offer a new dimension to Pakistan team as they will play in different conditions against a formidable opponent.

Present at the occasion Pakistan Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed also acknowledged PCB’s efforts and claimed that it was an honor for him to have the opportunity of leading the team and representing the entire country in this forthcoming series in New Zealand, which is for sure nit an easy win.

The skipper also gave thanks to PTCL for coming forward and supporting the cricket team of Pakistan throughout.
