A few days ago some on Instagram started calling out/cancelling out a bunch of Miguel O'hara fanartists for the henious, deplorable crimes of:

Drawing selfcest, "TWICE!"

Drawing Miguel with common BDSM shit on (a collar).

Drawing Miguel with common BDSM shit on (a muzzle).

Supporting rape-fantasy and being a non-sharing selfshipper (???????????????)

Having an age-gap in the selfship ("it's giving Lore Olympus Hades and Persephone").

As you can see, your Honor, really awful awful awful not good very bad crimes! The person calling out seven artists in total is arguing that... BDSM and those other kinks are dehumanizing Miguel (making him 'seen as an animal' and 'a slave') because invisible 'poc and indigenous people' are saying that this treatment of a fictional character is bad. Basically: don't have kinks, don't give fictional POCs kink, that's fucking white.

Miguel is Mexican (half Mexican) and, in the movie, he's indeed what you USians call "POC". This was a change they made for the movie, since his version in the comics is more (in looks) Irish (and we all now Irish can't be POC imirite fellas [this is sarcasm]). Miguel is not, however, indigenous. So that was... for sure a TV show that is a time capsule of the era it was made in

Chinese Magical Girl Paipai is a curiosity for arguably being an early Magical Girl piece, before even Sailor Moon was printed; but generally speaking it's a late 80s sitcom whose humour is pretty hit-or-miss and as you might gather from the name and the sensibilities of the time, and the setting of the main character becoming the live-in mother for a household; you get a lot of bad episodes and vibes focused around certain ideals of the time. It's... I don't know, it's difficult to recommend anyone go back and watch it for any reason? I figured I would because we never get anything from the Toei Fushigi Comedy Series, but this is showing me that maybe there's a reason for that.

It's not like I didn't enjoy it; there's a bunch of episodes and characters and plot elements that I had a great time with - My Boyfriend Was Turned Into Ramen alone made it worth my time - and I may even check out the sequel should that get subbed, but I just can't see myself recommending it unless you're really REALLY curious about the TFCS or its status as a proto magical girl show or you seriously want something THAT different from toku after marathoning all of Sentai or something. It's just an odd little time capsule is all it is

Some Azur Lane Headcanons

Here are some shipgirl headcanons I have! Note that these are just my personal headcanons (some inspired by my friends) and you don't need to agree with them.

I'll start with some for Wales because I love her so much, and I have so many headcanons for her compared to other shipgirls:

I can see Wales singing/humming a lullaby to help herself sleep when she can't. She may do the same for her partner if they can't sleep, if they so wish.

Lightweight, lol

She'd find being called "Princess" as a nickname endearing and adorable, especially if it's from someone she loves.

Probably wouldn't mind being pampered by whoever she loves, given her responsibilities as one of the Royal Knights(which is probably a lot on her shoulders), and... her unfortunate history...

Bilingual, at the very least (speaking English and Welsh)

Generally somewhere on the femme side.

While she usually buys her own jewelry, the earrings she wear the most (in her default outfit) can be a gift from Hood quite early on, not long after she's been launched.

Large and expensive wardrobe (including fancy dresses, lingerie, other nice clothes, etc.), probably applies to many of the other HMS ships too.

Wales and Howe would sometimes do each other's hair, and makeup in some cases. Usually the former.

And here are some for other ships!

Howe likes to have a bake-off with Dunkerque for fun, and enjoy the results together afterwards! (And they're definitely besties)

Duke of York is probably into Greek Mythology to some extent.

Formidable will occasionally to introduce Yorkie to some of her musical interests.

King George has a few clumsy moments here and there. Though, she's still pretty graceful overall.

Hood has the biggest jewelry collection in the Royal Navy (Wales maybe being close second?)

Bismarck is already shy, but I imagine her being even more shy and awkward around other women.

Shipgirl Appreciation Thread

Hello!! I may as well jump in the bandwagon too!

In this thread, I'll be rambling about shipgirls I enjoy and why I love them.

For obvious reasons, I will start with the shipgirl I draw the most:

Prince of Wales

It wasn't love at first sight, but when I first saw her in the original anime (either late 2019 or early 2020), I've always found Wales to be a very beautiful and fine woman. Personally, she struck me as some kind of "mature princess knightess" which is something I can get behind.

Around mid-2020, I pulled her not long after I got a new phone and got back into the game. I saw some of her skins and got to know her as a character, and she captured my heart.

Her design is very beautiful. There's something about Wales' cute bob hairstyle with a crown braid that appealed to me. On top of that, her jewelry complements her hairstyle really well, I'd say almost on par with Hood's jewelry. She's also very well-endowed and has a lot of curvature, but not overdoing it, and she's not afraid to show her assets and her beauty in general. I mean... look at her dress. 😳

I also enjoy her personality. She's dutiful as a knight should be, especially when work is a thing, yet still has that ladylike grace and elegance about her. Outside of work, she's easygoing with a lewd side to her, and she can be quite wild during intimate times. She also seems to be open to trying most things. The fact that she has interest in other girls as well is a plus for me. I love my bi queen. ✨

Despite the amount of misfortune she's been through in her life, she tries remaining strong and positive. Essentially, she's a lady with a fighting spirit. When you and Wales become close, her more vulnerable side will come out, as evident in her pre-oath Love line. While she absolutely can take care of herself, I feel she also wouldn't mind someone she loves being protective of her from time to time, as long as they won't overdo it.

Aside from two other headcanons I already shared so far, I have so many headcanons for her, but I can share a few of my favorite ones here!
